I kno bonsai backs up and restores data, but if your having issues I would suggest odining to stock, wiping data three times, wiping cache, wiping dalvik then flashing bonsai over a fresh stock install.
Also I believe the latest bonsai is based on ec05, not eb13, in theory you should still be able to flash though, let me kno if u need a link to the stock ec05 tar

Here is the link to odin to fully stock ec05..
Try odining to this, let it boot, use the clockwork mod 3.0.0.6 one click root, then boot into clockwork, wipe data three times, wipe cache, wipe dalvik. Then flash bonsai..
If you are still having issues I would reccomend trying syndicaterom using the same process, been on it for 2 weeks + without a single hickup.. good luck

Its not confusing I flash different roms about 50 times a day and I never bootloop, try flashing the ext4.converter before the rom or enable voodoo, also make sure you havent flashed whitehawkx kd1
sent from my sgs4g 2.3.3, finally
did you fix the bootloop? i hope you tried again with icbinb because it is really smooth.
Flash the ext4 converter, then icbinb, then try. If that doesnt work, do same steps then flash bali 3.3 uv kernel afterwards

mine's doing the same thing.. here's what I did
ODIN'd back to KC1 with root to start fresh (had whitehawx KD1), and pushed the CWM recovery file to system/bin.
quick booted to recovery, wiped system and data, checked mounts (UMMU), and flashed the final.5 from the zip. Everything seemed to go okay and it said flash was successful.
Rebooted phone, and it got stuck on the green android boot animation. during this time, the phone would buzz, then a few seconds later, do 3 quick buzzes, like something force-closed.
So I rebooted back to recovery (now RED CWM), enabled voodoo lag fix, checked mounts (UMMU), and rebooted. This time, the Linda voice came on and said some stuff and a bit later I believe she said "lagfix enabled", then it proceeded to the green android boot animation, where it's doing the same loop+buzzing thing for the last 10 mins.
where did I go wrong?

i literally just reflashed to icbinb. i odined to kc1. let that load. got cwm final and then i flashed bali 3.3 and rebooted the phone normally. once that loaded up, i went back into recovery, factory reset, wiped cache, checked mounts and flashed the ext4 converter. then i flashed icbinb.5. then i rebooted into recovery to make sure lagfix was enabled (it was for me because of the ext4...this is just to make sure it flashed properly) and then went back into the menu and i rebooted normally.
It worked!!!!!!! Thanks jager!!!! :d dsexton the ext4 converter worked <3333333 so sexy!
trying your steps right now and after flashing kc1 i go to recovery with cwm and hit reinstall pckgs,it doesnt load cwm.what do i do??
you dont have krylons final cwm. look for it under the mod section of the bible. once you put the recovery file in the bin folder and the update.zip in the root of the sd, try going to reinstall packages again.
BROKEN!!
i finally got this rom installed and now im getting constant messaging.mms fc's and google framework services, and NON STOP!!
Wipe cache, dalvik cache, and fix permissions. See if that helps

wonderful instructions!! thanks alot! this really helped stop the vibration crashes i keep having.. just as soon as i think things are about to stabilize
I followed jagers instructions exactly and I'm stuck on the Galaxy S 4G screen (white text) with the Samsung logo at the bottom. I heard Linda after I did my reboot and now I'm stuck on this. I started with KC1 and followed all of the steps. Not sure what else to do here.
Ok, I wiped cache/davlik cache/fixed permissions and I have the green android dude. I might be up again...
Edit: Nope, starting over again with those exact instructions...
Finally booted...man, these Samsung phones are ridiculous compared to HTC!

Yep, thanks again! I really like the rom a lot...definitely worth the work now that it's running and I restored all of my apps through Titanium.
One question about TW4.5, how can I swap out the 4 default icons on the bottom of the home screen? Or do I need to grab another launcher?
push the CWM recovery file to system/bin?
okay i odin to kc1 but how do push the CWM recovery file to system/bin.
Download root explorer and move the file

Phone reset after CWM backup

Strange problem on my wife's Charge. I just got her rooted, onto GB EP1W, and put her on TeamSBrissenMod's ROM, which I have been happily running for days.
After flashing last night, I let her spend this morning restoring her apps, wallpapers, themes, etc. She likes pink, lol. Well, after all of that, when she was done and satisfied, I showed her how to access CWM and create a backup. She did it, but when she rebooted, the phone has reset itself back to the point where it would look like the ROM was just freshly installed. No apps, no nothing, right back down to the default ROM wallpaper.
I tried to go back and restore the backup she just created, but its just the same thing, vanilla, freshly installed ROM. Im at a loss, never seen this happen before, and she certainly didn't make a mistake and reset anything as she backed up.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk
And no i didnt flash some odd CWM from ROM Manager or anything strange. Used the (imnuts?) fixed recovery dated 8/17
Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk
unfortunately this is a known issue that CWM wipes data on first boot into it after installing the rom... same issue that was happening with earlier Gummy GB versions
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA App
This is a known issue with the Infinity ROM. Specifically, it is with the kernel that ships with the ext4 version of the ROM. imoseyon's kernel does not have this issue, and it is fully compatible with the ROM.
Ok two answers, and I appreciate both, but which is it? An issue with the kernel, or this version of CWM? If its CWM, that makes me not want to boot into CWM ever..how do i resolve/get around it? I was intending on doing my own backup today as a matter of fact. Now, not so sure lol. I'll go back to the ROM thread too to see who has had the issue previously.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk
Well the answer seems to be to avoid CWM while on Infinity. Guys have tried every CWM version there is and data wipes on each one.
Is there expected "official" support from Clockworkmod on it's way for the Charge?

The wipe has *nothing* to do with CWM. It has everything to do with the kernel. imnuts has said this. imoseyon's kernel does not cause wipes on any version of CWM. This is 100% verified.

also (for myself anyway) it is only wiping data on the first boot into CWM... I flashed the Infinity rom, discovered it wasn't rooted so I booted into CWM and flashed superuser then booted up and was wiped but rooted, after that I've had no wipes

I will second what shrike is saying. I have also started using imoseyon's kernel and have had no problems going into CWM for any installs since using them.
The reason your data is getting wiped only on the first time is because two of the EXT4 partitions (I think they're Cache and Data) get reformatted back to RFS by the kernel (after you reboot). This is what wipes your phone. The second time you go into CWM and reboot, those partitions are already RFS, so the kernel doesn't have to reformat them, and your data stays.

[HELP] problems with cwm and roms

Hi!I just can figure whats wrong with the phone.I am very sorry to have to post this but this is what i have done until now:
-it was original t-mobile sgs4g soft 2.3.6
1. i downgraded to froyo
2. tried to apply the froyo cwm recovery
3. didnt worked (dunno why)
4. installed another version with odin http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193751 the cwm worked but it kept having cant mount sd card
5. installed the new cwm with kernel ..didnt worked same thing
6.installled again the froyo with odin
7. finnaly worked installed the octane
8. octane froze at sgs4g screen ,not boot animation , kept reseting
9. 3 flashes and froyo and bla bla after i installed the black valhalla
10. valhalla works but i cant recieve calls sms or mms...
11. Need help!
Don't flash GB stuff on froyo boot loaders. Don't flash froyo stuff on GB boot loaders. If don't know how to repartition with a pit don't flash boot loaders as boot loader flashes may hard brick your device. If your unsure about what your flashing matching your boot loaders don't flash it. Finally all your mixing and matching incorrectly probably got you some weird gremlins so learn how to"one click" back to stock (I wrote a noob guide in general section) and start over. This will ensure GB boot loaders are flashed correctly good luck

Install new Eclipse ROM over existing ROM

Hey, not sure of what I need to do. I have read things for clean installs, then things to unbrick your phone. I haven't seen anything for installing a newer rom.
I have the GingerBread unbloated root ROM. Nothing crazy. I want to install the newest Eclipse ROM. I downloaded the eclipse file. However, not 100% sure how to install this. When I installed my previous rom i did it with Odin. Can anybody point me in the right direction?
Isn't there an Odin for eclipse? If not you need to Odin cwm and then flash eclipse through that. Portip: you need to go into cwm on the first reboot or you will have to start over
Charged up post!
Go here to install CWM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1106608 Once you have CWM save whatever you need to save in Titanium Backup or Google or however u save ur stuff; make sure the ROM u want is on ur SD card (kernel too, i suggest PJB if u dont have it already) and power off ur phone. then boot into CWM (Vol up, home, and power together until u see the samsung logo, then let go of power button but hold the other two until you see the text this is CWM)
You dont HAVE to do a wipe data/factory reset, but it is highly suggested. wipe cache. go to advanced and wipe dalvik. Then just choose flash file from sd card, choose ur ROM and ur done.

If you're coming from another Rom, it is highly recommended to do full wipe. Factory data, cache, dalvik. Mount system first, then flash Rom.

Yes, that's exactly what I did. I installed the newest CWM first (You can find the thread in the development section) and then I installed eclipse v1.4 over the debloated/deodexed EP4D. Wipe data, cache, and Dalvik cache of course before installing the new ROM. Reboot and then go back into recovery and install PBJ 0130 kernel and you'll be good to go. Also, if you run into superuser problems, like losing root access, just reinstall the newest superuser in CWM.

That procedure worked like champ. .... except:
as you suggested, Superuser lost root access.
I'm sure this is a noob question, but where/how do I plug SuperUser in through CWM. I assume there is a zip that I can load once i'm up in CWM recovery. If so, would you be kind enough to point in the right direction to get it? (I know, search is my friend, but I'm on a tight clock today.)
[EDIT] - I ran "Fix permissions" in CWM. Rebooted, and it had SU working properly.
I also Found a SuperUser Pack that is a .Zip file over at Tom's world that's flashable through CWM. I didn't use it, but I did download it.
Many thanks. You got me on Eclipse in a record amount of time.

Shutdown Restart Fix?

Anyone know of a fix for the freeze on power off or restart? Could'nt get flash from odin working. Flashed nandroid backup version then mhx backup version over it. I also cleared caches, delvik, and formatted. Still freezes on power off or restart. Lokking for a simple fix hopefully!!
quickboot from market, or 14 toggle mod for ics
14 toggle mod didn't work for me, but i did read that romracers kernel fixed this problem for some. I'm gonna give it a try when i get home

Should've searched first. Sorry...Factory reset a few times and it'll start working or like above said 14 toggle mod and also holding power for 10 seconds does the trick. Ill stick with 14 toggle method until fully working CM9 Kang version is done over in T989 Section. Thanks guys! Close Thread!!
Just keep re-flashing till it works.
I've flashed four times. It worked two of the flashes, didn't work the other two flashes.

It gets cooler. Here is what I did.
Had working shutdown on ICS leak and a nandroid of the same.
Flashed mhx's deodexed ICS and had freez on shutdown
Did a nandroid restore to the original ICS leak but the shutdown issues persisted.
ODIN flashed stock (3e) recovery and did a factory reset.
ODIN flashed latest clockworkmod touch and wiped delvik, system, cache, and data.
Restored the original ICS nandroid and problem solved.
Did not try with mhx's ROM though.
