What are Jdkernels? - Thunderbolt General

Theyre on rom manager and kernel manager, but yet i know almost nothing about them...anyone know this guy?

If you're talking about jdlfg he made kernels for the original Droid. I haven't tried his for the thunderbolt since there isn't much info to be found about them but his kernels on the Droid were good.

I always used his kernels on my Droid. They were always good. I'm waiting on CM7 before I swap kernels though.

NOOOOO!
Don't ever insult jdflg like that.
jdkernels are some kanged monstrosity from jdkoreclipse. The same guy who told Team AndIRC (jcase and a bunch of others) to go F* themselves, eat sh*t, and other things on twitter. Then tried to suck up a week later.

REALLY??? I thought that pre-pubescent idiot was gone from Android for good. What name is he going to try and post under now?

I have to idea who the dude is, but if he's that bad why is his sh*t even in ROM and kernel manager?

He keeps making up different names to try and throw people off. I believe that is his 7-8th different "dev" name.

ROM and kernel manager do not have any quality requirements.

Because the dev themselves choose to put their work on rom manager.

[Q] How to make the phone not suck...

I'm coming over to USCC from Verizon (and my Thunderbolt, which I liked, when I was near a charger) because I changed jobs and Verizon doesn't have service where I work. However, even without service, the Thunderbolt seems to be a better phone than this Mesmerize.
So, is it my phone, or do I need a custom ROM:
Bluetooth sucks - half the time it doesn't connect, sometimes it drops out, it pairs with devices but then won't use them.
Notification sounds are slow and choppy, as are ringtones and alarms
It locks up
Video playback is choppy to the point of being unusable
Now, I LOVE the screen - it's beautiful, and works well. These problems all cropped back up even after a clean wipe. I did use Launcher Pro instead of the samsung launcher, and got rid of live wallpaper. I used a task killer to see if that would help. Nope. Basically, I need to reboot the phone before I make a call. Is it my phone, is there a trick, do I need a custom rom?
I would suggest the Heinz 57 ROM. It includes a voodoo kernel that can be overclocked and undervolted for battery life and performance. I have had great luck with this combo. Aslo, welcome to the mesmerize. With the right ROM/Kernel combo it is an amazing phone.

Frankly, it sounds like you either got a lemon or this is all user error. Because that's an odd rap sheet of issues to be having with a new phone.

My god someone document this, I don't think it'll ever happen again!
If it shipped with 2.2 it's probably normal to have issues, where 2.1 was a way more solid build. Either way, the issues you're reporting aren't common so you could try a custom ROM or a reflash of stock to see if you still have them, if so then you're phone is ****ed

I was going to mention your point, but even just doing a search with "CM7" brings you this: http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=cm7&qscrl=1
The first link takes you to the blog. The second takes you to the official site.
Before getting this phone I didn't know what Samsung's RFS was, or even Voodoo lagfix. I just thought it had something to do with an old graphics card. I'm not picking sides - all I'm saying is that some of this information is readily available.

Its been a while since MIUI was "started"... I totally forgot about it. :-/ This sgs4g is my first android phone so I have never used it, neither CM... but im enjoying what we have so anything that comes next its extra.
Question is, do you guys want a good solid working miui or a hacked together hardly usable pos miui? Things take time, and a lot of the additions I've seen coming out lately are all stepping stones. Hassling our devs isn't going to speed anything up.

Valhalla is pretty close to what you can do with CM. The real different is the t-mobile theme engine built in, and a few more tweaks. The only true benefit of cyanogenmod would be official support, so we would always be upgraded to the next OS. I'm not sure how CM9 will look though- it will be impressive no doubt.
Truth be told I do not know how they decide who gets official support. It is nice because you almost always have the latest OS before anyone. Then again, people tend to get bored with almost everything, if we had CM, we would probably still be switching to different roms. For example, I switched to Blandroid on my Nexus One because I would tired of CM. I switched back again, but you get my point.

Where/How To Cultivate a Leak

Here's my question. How does a leak get from Samsung to the outside? How are relationships built with an inside source the allows for a leak to be leaked? I just read an article that the Galaxy S III has already had it's ROM leaked, but nothing lately for the Charge. I remember Imnuts posting that there was an internal ICS build for the Charge, so how does that get from there to here? I guess this is more of a rant than a true question.
You have to have someone with ability and incentive. A few people have released leaks for the Charge in the past. Most prominently were p3droid (Team Black Hat) and pentafive. I've confirmed that p3droid is no longer active in the Charge scene, and I haven't seen anything from pentafive at all in a long time (since the stock EP4 Odin in early December).
Personally, I'd rather have a full Odin of FP1 above all else. It's annoying to get back to stock right now.
Agreed. Having stock odin packages is huge. I like the ROMs, like Tweakstock 1.x, that came as full package with kernel, radio, etc. too. It makes everything easy and also easy to help other people do it who refuse to read and learn (my friend and sister, not people on the forums).

Edited: removed my sarcasm.
not a flame war starter, that's my opinion.
Age doesn't matter on an online forum
And you didn't directly ask for an opinion, if you'd restated the Q, then you'd have a different answer.
Anyways, it's cool man, no worries.
Next,
my opinion.
I completely agree with eollie,
also, it's just more stable. I'm sure you're aware with the GB stability flaws, like flight mode, ril fails at times, still not as fast as wanted.
ICS fixes a lot of those issues, and makes it more stable at bootup.
A lot of the appeal I think is the fact that Samsung denied us ICS. Makes people want it even more lol. Like you, I haven't really gotten what the big deal is but I could've missed something. I'd like to hear some opinions from those who have used both gb and ics and can give us the pros and cons (if there are any).
