Hr5
update to latest firmware with update for latest keyboard dock also

see modaco for full details on the rom.
Quadrant scores mean nothing to me. My HD2 got 2.2k in it, which is more than my eee pad did. If an app/game is optimised/made properly it doesnt matter what score you get.
It seems snappier, thats enough for me

Cool. I'm still waiting to see if the FOTA update messes things up or not. Was meant to have been released today, but it hasnt been so far.
Just had a look at the update zip and it doesn't look like much has changed.
I think a new kernel will make this device fly. That and some Honeycomb fixes, but that won't come until Google open source it all.
I've taken a nandroid of my stock build and then installed Paul's Hr1 beta so I can play about with the rooted transformer but then revert back when Asus get there update out.
I've hardly touched my phone since I got tablet fever.

its easy to get Quadrant of 3600+ on a tegra2 tablet..
we get 3300+ on Folio100, and i made it all possible just adding the, famous loopback solution, from Desire originally.. it went from a small 2200+ to 3000+ depending on your test and background proc's running..
So quadrant is really not indication of speed really... but it does help a little writing to cache through loopback, but its not giving a slick userinterface or bigger feel og speed, if CPU is not oc'd and GPU is still the same..
there are even a tweak on tegra2, that will give you another 30% increase, hacking the framebuffers, on folio we got the 3000+ to 3300+ doing this hack, and its really not doing much on regular use, but quadrant does indicate more performance..
at the end CPU is the real thing, you should get it oc'd and you will be moving somewhere different..

Yeh I can't wait for a new kernel. Was happy to hear Asus released the source code for the kernel but apparently it's incomplete or something, disappointing . Want to get this baby overclocked!
Can't wait for an update on this Rom!
Has anyone with this ROM ran Linpack, im curious what the scores are
Is the link still working on the modaco site?? Tried downloading this a couple of times but each time I try to flash via cwm it just fails and says bad. Size of file downloaded each time was only like ~750kb

You should know that the file size was just way too small. Should be 150mb or more. I think around 190mb. I don't know if the link is down though.
I know I didn't check the file size till after it failed to flash though. Was mostly seeing if others were seeing the same thing when trying to download
Well according to Paul, hr4 should be out soon, including online kitchen.
got mine from walmart
waiting for it to come
Update: OP on Modaco still says Hr3, but file link is updated.
4 May Hr4
Deodexed
Now include Blob v5 for insecure boot and custom recovery
Bluetooth fix
Hey if any of the US version guys update to hr4, can you tell me if you have wifi issues? Just trying to see if this is an isolated incident or not.
Thanks,

mine is dropping the connection randomly. I'll screw around tomorrow at work and school and see if it is just my home router or not.

Nah. Mine seems to be doing that too, but I think it's just low range.
i think my router just needed to be reset, or my router sucks. connected to my phone ap just fine and now connected at work with no issues. So disregard.

Guys over at Android central made a rooted Rom of the newest update thought you guys might wanna jump on this I'm downloading now will report back with results
Nice, will look more into it. Thanks!
Update: I don't think thats worth installing. Some of the apps like FB and Friendstream I usually use. And well its on 1.0 so, its worth testing at least. But thats for people that have more than 1 phone. I need mine fully functional.
It's stated that this breaks 4G on AC.
I wonder what is causing all the rooted roms to break 4g if they are based of the stock one.
Yea its also force closes accounts and sync in settings so its a no go for now I'm sure it'll be fixed soon though
FC is fixed with an update. If you find anything else that is glaring, let us know over there.
The breakage of A&S was due to us trying to keep it from having to wipe out the data partition, since resetting up the device sucks. But we had to repush some of the removed apk's... tomorrow we are releasing another update that will repush the Sprint apps to data, which you can remove at your discretion.
As far as the 4G... damned if I knew. I am going to logcat this sucker tomorrow and figure out why it makes the connection but doesn't allow data to push through.

Heh... 4shared is the biggest nightmare.
We have most of the issues resolved. Even used some Gumbo to get a little more aggressive with memory handling (not really needed with 512mb tho). Happy with the full busybox support, makes terminal entry much more gooder.
Flashing the new radio from toast pretty much gets us better battery life and Wifi signal. oh yeah... and fixes 4G
300 second wait then I'll be giving it a try.
If anybody successfully gets it hook us up with a mirror it absolutely will not download for me

Actually on page 57 there IS a new link that has the newest OTA included so it is new in a way. The link givin by the original poster is a bit confusing though since they havent updated the main page yet on there, but RVU 1.4 is out on page 57
There is also a oc/uv perflock disabled kernel linked in there too. Works with the RvU and other stock/rooted roms.
I'm still on Fresh 1.5... I tried fresh 2 something when it first came out and wasn't happy with it.. but see things have changed quite a bit..
Is there a kernel update for 1.5 that I can get over 528mhz? I read about the anykernel but looks like that's only for 2.0+...
Tried searching but it kept getting a db error.
Thanks,
-Nigel
we are on froyo now i think its in your interest to just upgrade to a 2.1 rom at least because sprint deemed our phone worth because they released an official update for the hero
Why are you still running 1.5? That's like running Windows ME on a computer that is capable of running Windows 7... No one is doing development for 1.5 anymore because it's highly outdated and the performance compared to 2.2 is a joke.

Why don't you try CM 6.1.0, and if you need any help setting up head over to my designated CM Q&A
Yes Cm6 is android 2.2 and it is fast as lightning. And I get much better battery life. I wasn't fond of 2.1 either.

Purely opinion. I have tried every iteration of 2.2 and it has been nothing but sketchy. Now, I don't blame this on 2.2 but the fact that not all heroes are the same. Mine unfortunately is one that doesn't run 2.2 worth a damn. So all I'm saying is that its not for everyone.

Or give us more information about the setup you had. What kernel, OC settings (if any), polling times, etc etc etc. Sure, no two Heros are the same, but they cannot be THAT different to where it will almost "reject" a ROM..

CyanogenMOD 6 with UncappedKernel (CFS) is godlike in terms of speed... no joke.
Thanks all!
I am reading so I guess I will try the CyanogenMOD and uncapped kernel..
I am tired of a slow phone..haha
Going to wipe and try it now and see how it is!
I don't have to update my nandroid backup partition that I loaded on the phone from the first flash /root do I?
Take it this is the same: Wipe Device, Update via nandroid and then it will reboot.
Then go back and update kernel zip. And enjoy the fastness...haha

Sent from my hero running froyo... take that Sprint!
Just put on CyanogenSesnse CM6.. Love the freaking opening boot screen wow!
I am a little lost.. so many things are not here.. where did market go? lol
Some of the icons I don't know what they are.. is there a site that shows exactly what the new icons are.. I know the wifi, bluetooth, 3g, but the two others I have no clue..
So far so good... still didn't change clock speed or update kernel however it is SO much faster than what I was running... just wow!
And I can't seem to figure out how to add my google account or exchange account.. exchange doesn't manually let me edit anything, it just automatically asks for email and password.. yet our exchange server has some settings that are different that I could configure before...
-Nigel
You're are going to need to flash the Google Addons. That will allow you to sign into your Google account and access the Market.
You can find it here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755795
Please let me know, how much you want nightly builds for the vega tablet.
be honest - if you got no interested in them, say so - its not taken as offense.
we are probably too small to get included in the official build process, but i would provide semi official nightlies.
always build from latest cm7 sources. no mods, nothing changed, build the same way the official nightiles are build. on a regular basis. usually i am on my pc each day - being able to invoke the build script and auto upload it.
Voted for the regulary option but that is because I'm a flashoholic
At the moment I'm using your april 3rd version and flashed all versions before that. Especially when you can flash without loosing data/apps/widgets I see no reason not to update regulary.
I usually flash each version hoping some bug will be fixed, some performance increase will be seen, etc. But a weekly would be fine for me as well for example. Just very thankful for the work you're doing for the vega and CM7 is already an excellent piece of work on it.
I agree for 100%.
I´m also a flashoholic like dagrim1
Once or twice a week would be very appreciated.
Thanks for your time and work. Even when the Android 2.2 Vega rom runs a little bit smoother and more stable this ROM has so much more potential. And I love it really.

so, my vote - yes I would flas them to try (for sure) and use them, if they would be better than corvus...

One or two nightlys per week would be fab!
Hi my name is Harplo and I'm a flashoholic
what exactly is different to the viewsonic G 10? i mean in terms of hardware? because my theory is, like the dream/sapphire projects if this CM build could be built for "both" if the hardware is 99% same, then there would be a lot more interest.
i guess the first thing would be to check to see if the kernel sources are any different of the two devices. just a long shot that might save time and gather a lot more interest if they are very similar?
i hope to see them regularly, maybe once a week not like every night. i know that its a lot of work that goes behind it as well as time. specially if a person is doing it on their own.
thats more than enough demand. will starting building this once i finished the tablet tweaks... that long, the tablet tweaks builds are nearly the same as nightlies... just added my stuff

Thanks.

Basically... You have to have CWM installed. Then put the zip file on your sd-card and boot into CWM where you choose 'install from zip' and select the zip.
But not having to wipe depends on the update itself, not the method. Often when changing between roms a wipe is necessary, sometimes when updating a rom as well but very often you can update without any problems.
Great news about the nightlies!

Just discovered your nightlies and flashed them!
Looks great!
Thank you!
Sorry this is slightly off-topic, but for those of you who regularly flash nightly's: Do you have a method of easily restoring apps+data+settings other than Titanium? I have found using Titanium restore-all often leads to problems.
It would be great if somehow an app could allow our tablets and phones to automatically update the read-only partitions nightly, but still preserve... everything that is read/write (and then kill dalvik-cache and reboot).
Haven't looked at it yet, but found it in my normal scan (I didn't have the build number that high before, so I must have missed it the last few weeks):

EO July build date. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK, as always. I'm going to dissect this tomorrow or Saturday and, if there's anything of importance in there, I'll make a Mountain Laurel update out of it (if the power stays on, of course - Irene, please be kind!).

Awesome, looking forward to your findings...
HIGH DEFINITION VIDEO PLAYBACK IS FIXED, with this build (it was broken in all the previous 1.2 stock ROMS -- 3991, 4349 and I believe 4950). I use the same 1080p main profile video for all my baseline tests, and it's working in 5274 stock.
That, in itself, is a good enough reason to deploy this into Mountain Laurel. However, I have to test if I need to use their kernel or not, so more testing would be needed. Worst case, I'd deploy with their kernel, like I used to do with TNT Lite - but of course I still need to check sleep.
This thing also has a newer bootloader, but Mountain Laurel always includes that. Might be related to the video fix, but again not certain without further testing.
As for other changes, probably nothing much - I'm seeing only the usual app and framework files being touched post 4950, the Wifi was touched as well libvodm_query. The camera is still mirrored incorrectly, as it has been on all 1.2 builds.
EDIT: I have a prototype with the pershoot kernel, and video playback is still working. Awesome - good to see that this is finally fixed.
EDIT2: Pulling out the pershoot kernel and testing a "mostly stock" version, like I used to do with TNT Lite. If sleep is working and battery life seems improved, it might be worth going back to that type of release. If someone wants a custom kernel, it's fairly easy to add it on your own.
I think they finally "got it right" with this 5274, going on my testing so far. A worthy successor to 3588 and 4349 stock, imo.
EDIT3: Spoke too soon - sleep issues are cropping up. Might need to keep pershoot's kernel after all -- no worries.
Outstanding work Roe.
When you say new bootloader, do you mean 1.2 or do you mean something else?
It's still 1.2 based - but it's got a newer timestamp, and I have a reliable source that tells me that it's been tweaked. Btw, my ML update is released - I stuck with a 3.0.0 with a stock kernel, as that's what I used to do for TNT Lite. Pershoot / Clem kernels can always be installed by the user, if they wanted. (I had retested sleep on a clean machine, no apps, and had no SOD).
Btw, it seems very obvious to me that the 1.1 branch is now long dead. TapnTap have only done 1.2-based work for the Olipad and Hannspad these last few months, the Adam has been 1.2 since almost Day One, and all the GTAB TapnTap work since March (3991, 4349, 4950 and now 5274) are all 1.2-based.
Sooner or later there will be a stock release, and it will almost certainly be 1.2-based, again. I would argue that this 5274 may very well be their next GA release, it's just a question of when. I hope Cyanagenmod will eventually swing over.
Very awesome Roe. I have been using Vegan 5.1.1 with VTL mainly because it covers *my* basic needs: PvZ, Keyboard/mouse, hardware acceleration, HD video. ANd I dodn't need to bother going to a 1.2 ROM. I think now is the time to go 1.2 and check out a newer ROM.
One question: does Mountain Laurel suffer from the media delete issue? Is .nomedia required? Not being able to access media on Vegan 5.1.1 (after applying the .nomedia fix) is kind of lousy.

Will you repack as a nvflash package, wait for the GA, or none of these?
Actually, one more question: did you try the stock 5274 ROM and see if it ran any better than before? My biggest complaint with stock was that it was so slow, but I always liked the LOOK of it, especially the weather app.

From limited testing, I had no issues - for example none of my video test files got wiped. But only time will tell and it is a new kernel.
Btw, good point on PvZ - wish I knew what it was about the old VEGAn build kernel that makes it stable.

I'd have to go back and test things on builds 3991 / 4249 / 4950, but I would say that it feels snappier than 3588 for sure. And Nenamark / SmartBench scores seem to back that up. So far it really feels like a solid stock Froyo ROM and it's a shame that there are stock users with the ancient 3588 build that still don't have the option to get this ROM the "supported" way.

I'm going to wait until next week and, assuming the new Mountain Laurel mod I just released doesn't have any serious issues, I'm going to update my 4349-based nvflash to 5274. I probably won't wait for GA, because I could be waiting a long time.
@roebeet awesome work as usual... I'm really really impressed with the speed of your releases... fantastic work... thanks a million for making my GTab well worth the money I spent!!
Hello Roebeet. How was your much deserved break?
Would this happen to have the market included? If not would old methods of getting it on work?
Would you recommend pershoots or clemsyns kernel, what is difference other than 1400 compared to 1500?
Also would you happen to know if than old nvrdaemon file/hack from back in the day than dexter put out would work?
Its been a while seen running stock, always liked it but took honeycomb plunge. Thinking about going back to hassle free stock, flash and hd playback is a plus!
I would think the performance is better than 3588, 4349??? I do miss the back to top of page tab in 3588 browser that 4349 didnt have. Saved a boat of scrolling. Is that option back?
Thanks and hope all is well with weather, I noticed your in western pa, im 20 min from Philadelphia and its not looking all that hot. Need something to do while cooped up. This sounds like it could be fun to tinker with!
Let me answer some questions which I'm sure off...

Honestly, I think pershoot's kernel is better... It is updated more frequently and includes some latest Tegra changes... and OC to 1400 is definitely much more stable than OC to 1500... without any real noticeable difference (maybe some full HD videos might work a bit better at 1500)

It is definitely smoother than the previous versions (3588, 4349, etc.), but no, there is no "scroll to top" option in the browser...
I took the plunge and installed this update to see if it would fix the SOD I have been experiencing on all 1.2bl based roms. Did the following:
Booted to CWM
Cleared user data
Clear dalvik cache

Let me answer some questions which I'm sure off...
Market 3.1.3 (latest Market to date) is included in ML3.0.0... along with the olympus (Motorola Atrix) build props...

I agree, yes its smoother.
You are correct that pershoots has been updated, did not think about that.
Bummer on the back to top tap. I think its stupid that they removed that. It was mighty convienent.
Now, what are you talking about with the market. It does not have it. What's the atrix talk about?
Sleep of Death?
What does that entail?
For each and every 1.2 bootloader version from TnT (only TnT), I have problems with the home screen crashing unless I change it on 1st boot to Classic. It happended with Mountain Laurel too, yes the new Roebeet version of this week in included in that.
The home screen will crash as soon as I unlock the screen, unless I have changed it in the previous boot. So, I leave it on Classic. I have ML installed, homescreen changed to classic. All my software installed and now its time for a CWM backup.
Am I experiencing the SoD?
Roe,
It's been a looooonng while since I flashed a stock TnT update but if this is stable I would like to update my wife's Gtab to this most current one. Can you point me in the direction of the market and accelerometer fixes along with anything else I might be forgetting? I would just put Mountain Laurel on hers but she likes the stock TnT interface, besides she is not tech minded so I am keeping hers mostly stock with just the necessary fixes. I really do wish there was some way I could talk you into doing a modified stock TnT update.zip (stock with all the fixes already included). Thanks for all that you do and here's to hoping that you and your family made it through Irene OK.
thx -- still picking up the pieces post-Irene (basement was flooded so I'm ripping out the carpeting today).
As for ML, the install actually loads a stock image first, then I layer all the custom changes afterwards. So, if you enjoy a little trial and error, you could look into the update.zip and alter it to your needs. For the TnT apps, I first delete them and, in some cases, overlay them with stock apps - so you'd need to look at both the updater-script and /system folder, for what you want to alter.

Hope all is well. Good luck with basement. Near Philly I only lost power about six hours sat night into sun, but being under tornado warning in our county and having one roll down our street last year, the old ladyhad us sleep down basement sat night. Basement floor is not comfy.
Anyways what is the best way to go about getting market on this. Been a long time since running stock. Kinda like it but missing market.
One other thing, remember in 3588, while browsing we had the back to top tab that saved alot of scrolling in browser. Also when you would click something in the browser the top bar would drop down and you would see the progress icon so you would know your press registered. Why they did away with these things I don't get, it made the browser much more user friendly, is there a way to bring those two things back?
Never really noticed those before, but my guess is that the Browser apk could be replaced from the 52xx one to the 3588 one, to see if that functionality returns.
Roebeet, do you make any changes to boot.img except to add the ML image?
Also, is anyone seeing any problems booting with 5274? I can't get my gtab to boot with it. Just sits on the boot animation forever.. like hours.. until the screen jsut goes off. Then you can tap power and it comes right back to the boot animation, almost like sleep mode during the boot.
I love bulletproof but no WiFi and my FB bein retarded sux...
I am on Bulletproof, and my wifi and Facebook are fine, maybe you got a bad flash?
Could be... Did you flash from 155 originally?
WiFi worked until I overclocked. If i put stock boot.img back WiFi works though.
Facebook works, but not the same as it used to. I can't look at pictures
hey sorry for the delay, but i finally got around to testing this. i am on the latest OTA/radio etc., and i got wifi to work on Bulletproof with the UV6 kernel.
Blue made me realize that you have to use the EXACT modules that came with the kernel you are flashing. he may have even pointed this out to us before!
so in your case, you could just flash the full kernel zip again, and it will install the appropriate modules without touching your boot image(since you are rooted but S-ON). or however you wanna do it, just get those very modules from the UV6 kernel into your system somehow, lol. (or from whichever kernel you wanna use)
again, sorry for the delay on this. hope you get it working right away!
Confused.... To get the kernel I had to fastboot flash boot.img...
So it already changed the boot image... Kernel won't apply with s-on correct?

fastboot flashing the boot image wasn't enough, you also need the exact same modules that came in the zip where you got the boot.img. from. so if you simply flash the full kernel zip in ClockworkMod, it should write those modules into your system, and wifi should fire right up once you boot up, since you already have the boot.img flashed.
if you know how to manually paste the modules into your system, you can do that too. they go in /system/lib/modules. then you set the permissions and reboot.
WiFi is back... Now if I could figure out why Facebook doesn't have all its features

excellent!
which features of facebook do you mean? and do you mean Facebook for HTC Sense/Freindstream, or the Android FB app?
i have noticed that Friendstream is cool, but incomplete in some areas. when someone posts a pic, the app does a good job of retrieving that person's entire album, and it even displays it in the gallery i believe. BUT, it often doesn't retrieve the latest pic, which was THE pic you wanted to see! so that is annoying, and i think that is just how it is. there are a few other things as well.
It's the Android FB.... Facebook sense continually tries to update though...
If you go on someone's profile or timeline there is no ability to look at albums or info now. As a matter of fact there is no timeline display at all. I deleted and reinstalled... Same thing. It was fine before bulletproof.

yeah, i see what you mean about the Android FB app. is there a chance that they updated the app just recently, and maybe it's buggy? if not, then perhaps something was removed from the ROM that is needed for that? i'll let you know if i find anything out about it.
It's fine on my other slide with 155
I'll have to check my records and see what I removed regarding facebook. Pretty sure I left all libs and supporting files, so not sure what could be missing.
I don't have a facebook account, so can't check directly, and I've been pretty wiped out when I get done my shifts. Depending on traffic and what time they let me go in the morning I can get home anywhere between 8 and 9:30 AM.
I know this has been an issue bugging you for a while now, so I'll make an effort to focus on it when I get in tomorrow morning, some 8 or 9 hours from now.
Sent from a digital distance.
ok, i was just gonna say that there is probably a fix, like adding back something that was removed from the ROM, but i have been trying it again, and it is working every time. i tap on a contact's name and it brings up their profile page.
update: well, i have been able to get it bring up the person's profile every time, but something seems to be missing... namely, the bar at the bottom of the page that lets you select their Wall, Info, or Photos. well in any case, i can see those things on my Sidekick with the same app, but not on the MT4GS with Bulletproof and UV6 kernel. strange
Thanks for looking into it and making the comparison on even another device.
I'm not sure what's not right, i'm just in and going to see what I can browse through in my changelogs from one version to the next.
If anyone's feeling flash happy and willing to test it out though, is it any different on version 1.0 to version 1.1?
I've got both still available for download if anyone feels like checking into it, link for 1.0 is underneath 1.1 on the thread in the OP.
Hopefully I can come up with something to remedy the issue.
( I can't believe a day actually came that I kinda wished I had a facebook - getting involved with it would still represent a black mark on my conscience, but still...wow lol )
Thanks!
Ya I don't have a FB either. But it always seems like the FB app is giving one group or another problems. Doesn't it?
Typed by ---- oh wait! I'm schizophrenic!

i tried it on Bulletproof 1.0, and it is behaving the same as on 1.1. i have noticed that on the Sidekick 4G, those choices on someone's profile page are usually there, but are ocasionally not... so i am getting closer to chalking it up to inconsistencies with the app itself, and/or the way the app interacts with the FB site. i kinda doubt there is anything with the ROM that would cause this, or at least anything that you could actually pinpoint. not positive, but leaning this way.
but, it is curious that i have yet to get those options on the MT4GS with the 2 Bulletproof ROMs, but can get them on the SK most of the time. i think it could also have to do with the FB Timeline feature, and with whose profiles have been converted over, and whose haven't.
i guess my final test will be to flash back to my nandroid of the stock 1.63.531.2 ROM, and see how it works there. i'll update this post once i do that
I have access to a mt4g slide with 155 and one with 165 and mine with bulletproof. Other than bulletproof both the others have the bar at the bottom with same FB app installed. It is definitely ROM related.

No arguments, and given what others have posted as well it seems most likely that something in Bulletproof doesn't agree with facebook.
Being as it's not a service I use, it's a bit difficult to troubleshoot, and while I run better a bit tired, i'm way past that threshold on this gig (can't believe i'm still up, actually, i've got to get up in 4 hours for a commitment before work)
I don't have work friday or saturday - but am finding myself spending friday morning when my shift ends until sometime saturday afternoon recuperating from the beating I take during the workweek. I'll give what time I can during the workweek on it, but can't promise any kind of coherent progress.
If it comes down to me having to sign up for a facebook account to fix it, it won't get fixed.
I do not agree with the facebook terms of service, and have no intentions of giving my data to that institution to sell off. Facebook is now selling off peoples pictures for product advertising and as a retail merchandiser if I had to stock product with my image on it i'd flip out and lose my job on the spot.
Beyond that, the big Z is unpredictable, and who knows what he'll authorize being done with the data they are mining in the future, but they are actively seeking any avenue possible to monetize the data they own (yes, they own all the data you put through facebook) - no thanks, I want nothing to do with all of that.
So, i'll do the best I can as I can, but there are very real limits to how far i'm willing to go in seeking a resolution to the matter.

yeah, i am also getting that bar at the bottom on my stock 1.63.531.2 setup... weird!
I'll give you my log in details for the cause. When you're done ill change my password. Does that work?
