FYI, Bestbuy is offering a Free Inspire 4g if you are eligible for an upgrade. I just ordered mine and paid extra for the express shipping.

Wow...this is making it even harder to decide whether or not to upgrade from my Captivate...

Yeah, I'm pretty impatient too. My Captivate is running fine, but I just have this 'itch' to upgrade. I was gonna go with AmazonWireless who had the Inspire for $29.99, then I came here to take a look at the Inspire forums, and see this awesome deal!

My brother is the one with the upgrade so i was gonna give him my iphone and use the upgrade for the Inspire but, like a good brother I told him about the best buy deal. :/

so I went to Att today to make adjustments to my plan and offered interest in the inspire. I have an upgrade available.
she asked me if I wanted to get the Inspire today and I said "no because I can get it at best buy for free".
she was silent for about 30 seconds then said she is gonna check the best buy website....she does and says she can match it.
I'll be going back tommarow for my free Inspire.

Cool, I wish they wold have done it for me. I actually went to an AT&T store FIRST to physically play with the phone. He mentioned the Infuse, and I agreed that it looked nice, but the price was out of the question. Told him that Amazon Wireless had the Inspire for $30, and BestBuy had it for zip and he just shrugged and pointed me to the phone.
Then I went to BestBuy (a journey for me since I don't drive) and got the phone...only to return it the next day due to a bubble in the glass, and some minor pixel issues in the center of the phone.
But I'm all set now. Liking the phone, and gonna eventually get into some reading so I can root, and play with different roms...
Seems that with all phones now they are becoming free after a few months.
Got my Inspire from Best Buy 13 days ago for $79.99. Browsing thru the forums and saw threads on it being offered for free now. Headed over to BB after work, and came out $86 dollars richer. I don't know if the "free" was for online purchases or not, but in store it was being offered for $1. Super fantastic deal! I love this phone, even convinced my hubby to dump his 3GS and take advantage of this awesome deal. He will get his tomorrow

I just got my touchpad from the woot sale. It was so nice of them to sell those on my birthday. I'm liking it so far but can't wait to get android or Ubuntu on it.
I ended up buying 2 of the 32gb touchpads. Not sure what I'm going t do with the second one yet. It might go to the girlfriend.... or not.
I ordered two more 32 GB Touchpads and they showed up yesterday. Alpha .6 on both and life is good!

There are still plenty of webOS devices out there.
Also some clearance outlets online occasionally have deals.

Options are still out there. You can even get newer phones like Veer and Pre 3 and there are 4G Touchpads floating around as well as the 7" screen TP Go. Google around. Check eBay and Amazon. Put "buy" in your search string...

Is there going to be a forum dedicated to the Shield tablet or do we just ask our questions here?
Since you can only buy it from nvidia and maybe newegg right now (US at least) it may take some time before a forum is created. That being said I can almost guarantee that a forum will be started at some point. It may be worth a message to a moderator, instead of posting around this forum,as I'm willing to bet it is already in the works.
EDIT: it looks like it hits Amazon and best buy on August 18. There should be a forum by then.

well i am jealous of you sir. i have it in my cart right now on both amazon and best buy both saying shipping in 2-4 weeks. Luckily i was able to order it from nVidias web site. but i payed for 2 day shipping and its been 2 days =(

I really don't notice the extra length from the speakers. When I'm not gaming it is in portrait and you really don't notice it. Front facing speakers are amazing though.
It is heavier than any tablet I've used and you can feel it if you hold it up awhile. I rest it on my stomach or leg a lot. I had the Google play edition lg g pad 8.3 and this seems quite a bit heavier even.
It is hard to find flaws at this point since it is so new to me and there seem to be no imperfections for me to be annoyed at right now other than nvidia not shipping the cover yet....
Yeah if anyone finds a store with the controller or cover, please post it. I can't find anywhere to get the accessories other than the nvidia store

They have the cover for same day shipping at Frys.com right now. I ordered mine yesterday and it shipped today.
I set up a stock notification for the controller at newegg, a batch came and went there yesterday.
Got mine from amazon on a pre order and received on the 31st. As other have said it is heavier than other tablets of the same size but its not a big deal. The extra length from the bezel is not really noticeable when holding the device and playing games. When you get your device there will already be an OTA update for the tablet. Once I applied that update I rooted my device by using goehot's towelroot from: https://towelroot.com/
Worth mention. I loaded Google Now Launcher (may happen stock too) and noticed any shortcut for an app that was moved to SD disappears when I reboot the tablet. I think this is an Android issue though not a issue specific to the shield tablet.

i know that there is no right answer but , what are the chances of this device getting cyanogenmod support (as CM is mostly known for their work on snapdragons)
Has any one had issues charing to 100%. Also own forum would be great and what version of town root. Thanks.

Cycle your battery a couple times. Drain it to zero and charge to full and repeat. I've seen this on many devices.
Forgive the attempt to get this thread back on topic, but I would like to see the Shield Tablet get it's own forum, too.
I think if NVidia markets it right, the Shield Tablet is going to sell well. It is also very attractive to the xda crowd due to it's features and specs. It may become the next "Geek Badge" (Geek Shield?). It is for me. I think it deserves it's own forum, or at least sections in this forum.

A friend and I both got this deal for $99 at Staples, I haven't opened mine yet but he opened his and is complaining how slow it is, surprising as it's got decent specs and is brand new, might have to slap a custom rom on it for him.

I am concerned about the storage though. So after rooting is there a preferred app/procedure for shifting apps over to the memory card?

I think theres an application you have to use when your rooted to do so. Im not even sure if they will even work as i never had an sd card before. Im wondering this too.
