Has anyone tried using Skype and or Google Talk on their Transformer yet? If so, were you able to get voice and/or video working? This a big selling point for me (video chat). Any and all discussion around this is welcome. Thanks in advance.

I havnt tried but read my short review posted in the forum
yep, both work ok.. Skype voice quality is better.. but the app is buggy and lacks video (i hear there is an updated soon though).. video calling over gtalk worked well for me as well though..
Thanks for the replies. Glad to hear one app worked with video. As with all things software, time will make them better.

i guess its just gonna take a fring/skype/qik update, but I don't feel like waiting lol

Please forgive this post, at this time I do not own a Charge but looking at buying one. Does Tango work?
sound does not work with Tango on the Charge.... also, video from front facing camera is sideways...

who knows when, still waiting on Tango to support the Xoom properly, and that's been out for 2 months now.

I emailed Tango support and got a response saying, "Hi Rick, Brett,
Yes our engineers are aware of the problem and investigating. Thanks for reporting."
So I wonder when the update will come?
Try bugging the fring devs -- they offered a beta for Atrix and Inspire users weeks before official app support. (And this despite the stock AT&T lockdown on sideloading!)

Yes, they did fix the video displaying correctly but audio is not working. You can hear the person but they can't hear you.
I updated my ticket with Tango support with the new information.

Qik has to fix the camera since it uses the rear camera. At least the audio works than tango.
Gtalk Video
There is an app called vtok. Soon as the developer gets it to work on the Charge will be be nice. It uses your gtalk account to do video. So far it only works on a few devices and one is not the DC.
Maybe if enough DC users have emailed him he might make it work sooner.

hey guys, i just got my charge and downloaded the app "tango", which allows video chatting.
but when i try it and i turn on the video my friend cannot hear me.
i remember when i got my phone the guy at best buy said the charge cannot send data and voice at the same time
so i am amusing this is the problem.
my friend has the Tbolt and it works fine.
If video chatting is out of the question for the charge why did they even include the front facing camera.
also is there a way around this? how can i get video chatting to work on my charge.

Make sure your friend does not have mute selected, and does have the speaker selected.

The developers of Tango are aware of the audio issues associated with the Charge, and are working to resolve it. Here's a post from another site:

something new with Fring, because when I used it, it wouldn't use the front facing camera.
Yeah Fring was update a few hours ago. But the volume is too low for the program to be honestly useful.

It is low. If you are outside or in a noisy place you'll have issues. But for me it's not too bad. I use it at work to talk and cheack on my son at home. If I don't call him he'll never take a bath. Hell when I was his age I was ironing my clothes and smelling fine. Had girls all over the place. This boy don't give to you know whats.

Don't look like it. I just checked the reviews in the market place and as of 6-8-11, people are still rating it poorly because of that.

Not sure if you're aware, but that just means you can't use data while on voice CALLS only. Data doesn't disable your microphone.
I've downloaded Qik but haven't tried it yet. Anyone have any luck?

Absolute noob here, first post and this seems the best place to post my query.
I'm having problems with my video calls with Skype on my Galaxy Note. I bought mine just about a week ago and Skype the most important app for me right now as I need it for comm with my relatives and GF. but video doesn't seem to work. Is there any additional configuration that I need to setup? Or Is there any particular version for Skype that I should be using for NOTE?
I really appreciate any help or guide on this...

working fine for me, at least with test video calls over my LAN - but basic skypeout also tested and works too. would help if you described what you are trying and what is going wrong.
Hi, I have questions about google talk. So my brother and his girlfriend has a new Galaxy S II. So they can do a videocall with google talk.
My girlfriend and I, have a galaxy i5800 so we want to call us, but I don't see an option in google talk to call. Only in my brother's phone is the videocall, also, he can't call me, only send messages.
So, if only can to do videocalls, and not 'audio' calls, exist any way to emulate a cam to deceive google talk?

i don't use google talk so i can't help you with audio calls, but i suggest using skype. it improved a lot since the last update =)

This is why I ask to emule a cam.
Skype consume about 6-10mb per day without use. I have contracted 150mb per month, so I can't have skype installed on my phone. Also, consumes a lot of RAM

I think he is asking for a way to connect an external camera to the phone for Video Chat using Gtalk. Hmm I don t think that can be done. Maybe others could answer better.

No..... What I know is, google talk can ONLY do videocalls or chat, not 'audio' calls. So in Galaxy 3 you can't do videocalls because don't have a front cam, this is what i am asking for, to googletalk mislead into believing that has front cam, and open the possibility to do a false videocall, but a call at the end

As the title says, I have tryed to make skype calls but the image that the oter person gets from me is very greeny. On my Sensation's display it looks like it should be but at the recepient I see my self like I am being watched thru night vision devices.
Could this be a skype problem or a phone problem? outside the skype both front and back cameras are working just fine.
I don't know if it has any importance but I am on ARHD 6.6.3.

This is a known issue for sensations on ics. There are multiple threads documenting this, please use the search function on this forum, its surprisingly effective

For some reason it is a problem on the Sensation running ICS.
On my Transformer Prime,running ICS,it works absolutely fine.

It is an ICS problem with the Sensation. Just wait for skype to fix it
