Has anyone found an app that allows for video chat using the front camera?
Typed on the beautiful screen of my Samsung Droid Charge
Having the same issue, tried them all. The ones that connect won't connect the front camera. Major bummer...

i guess its just gonna take a fring/skype/qik update, but I don't feel like waiting lol

Please forgive this post, at this time I do not own a Charge but looking at buying one. Does Tango work?
sound does not work with Tango on the Charge.... also, video from front facing camera is sideways...

who knows when, still waiting on Tango to support the Xoom properly, and that's been out for 2 months now.

I emailed Tango support and got a response saying, "Hi Rick, Brett,
Yes our engineers are aware of the problem and investigating. Thanks for reporting."
So I wonder when the update will come?
Try bugging the fring devs -- they offered a beta for Atrix and Inspire users weeks before official app support. (And this despite the stock AT&T lockdown on sideloading!)

Yes, they did fix the video displaying correctly but audio is not working. You can hear the person but they can't hear you.
I updated my ticket with Tango support with the new information.

Qik has to fix the camera since it uses the rear camera. At least the audio works than tango.
Gtalk Video
There is an app called vtok. Soon as the developer gets it to work on the Charge will be be nice. It uses your gtalk account to do video. So far it only works on a few devices and one is not the DC.
Maybe if enough DC users have emailed him he might make it work sooner.
Fring worked when I tried it shortly with my wife. The quality was pretty crappy, but it worked

I havnt tried but read my short review posted in the forum
yep, both work ok.. Skype voice quality is better.. but the app is buggy and lacks video (i hear there is an updated soon though).. video calling over gtalk worked well for me as well though..

ya same problem here - and oovoo and fring do the same thing. QIK seems to work with the proper camera though.
yup same here. that was the first problem i ran into with this phone. just use a mirror in front of u. will probably get fixed soon tho with either with an update or the switch to gingerbread. not sure why the app doesn't recognize that there are 2 cameras which is the reason why we don't see the switch camera toggle normally located on the top right corner. i have a feeling its not tangos fault but with lg and their half-baked software.

do you know if there is qik for iphone4?
Reason being for this is G2X came out recently and developers at Tango just recently got their hands on it. You should be expecting an update shortly on it working though.

tango wont work on the g2x ffc but i flashed cm7 on my g2x tried tango and works perfect with ffc

hey guys, i just got my charge and downloaded the app "tango", which allows video chatting.
but when i try it and i turn on the video my friend cannot hear me.
i remember when i got my phone the guy at best buy said the charge cannot send data and voice at the same time
so i am amusing this is the problem.
my friend has the Tbolt and it works fine.
If video chatting is out of the question for the charge why did they even include the front facing camera.
also is there a way around this? how can i get video chatting to work on my charge.
any ideas

Make sure your friend does not have mute selected, and does have the speaker selected.

The developers of Tango are aware of the audio issues associated with the Charge, and are working to resolve it. Here's a post from another site:

something new with Fring, because when I used it, it wouldn't use the front facing camera.
Yeah Fring was update a few hours ago. But the volume is too low for the program to be honestly useful.

It is low. If you are outside or in a noisy place you'll have issues. But for me it's not too bad. I use it at work to talk and cheack on my son at home. If I don't call him he'll never take a bath. Hell when I was his age I was ironing my clothes and smelling fine. Had girls all over the place. This boy don't give to you know whats.

Don't look like it. I just checked the reviews in the market place and as of 6-8-11, people are still rating it poorly because of that.

Not sure if you're aware, but that just means you can't use data while on voice CALLS only. Data doesn't disable your microphone.
I've downloaded Qik but haven't tried it yet. Anyone have any luck?
Is there a chance a dev out there might help us out with this? Or maybe we can lobby our requests at the dev who modified skype to work on various devices over at the i9000 forums.
If our phone could have this feature then I'd be content not changing mobiles for the next 5 years...

I sideloaded it on my p3113, and the camera is sideways, but it does make calls and connect. You can see the other persons cam. I have had reports that audio cuts in and out.

tnx for sharing. I have had that issue before with my previous tab10.1 P7500. messenger works with video calling but image is sideways, but if you flip your cam the return it back using the front cam, your image will appear normal. ( i mean vertical, not sideways anymore). That is why I am really disappointed for replacing the old tab 10.1 with the new tab 2, even skype's video calling wont work. at least the OG tab video calling works. I just wish they could release a new plugin or fix soon for the video calling coz its making samsung's reputation really bad....

Yah, it looks like they released the device without testing for compatible apps for video and voice calling. even skype's video calling doesnt work either. they should start fixing these issues coz its already been months since the release of tab 2 and if this would take longer before it could be fixed, it could really give samsung a really bad impression to consumers. besides, they just won their case over apple, right?

My customer has a custom app that uses the camera to take pictures and insert the pictures into a form for reporting purposes (home inspection app).
He is having all kinds of issues with the camera. Today, SAMSUNG support told him that, the "tablet was not designed to be used by an app that controls the camera".
This is complete BS in my opinion but I need more info to fire back at their support.
