I was using my Samsung Galaxy mini ( GT-S 5570) and was using ROM manager (free) on it.
When it asked for my device.. In my desperation I chose Huawei Pulse mini. No problem. After that.. I selected 'Back up current ROM'
When I did that my phone's screen went blank.
I could not boot. I took the battery out and tried. No success.
So I connected it to my PC. The Samsung Kies software detects the phone but cannot identify it so can't upgrade firmware or anything.
I have tried all combinations to boot into recovery mode. No success.
Is there any way I could get my phone back?
Help! I really need this!

Plus.. I had rooted my phone. My warranty is void.
I think you are kinda screwed..
Warranty void, I dont think theres a way to fix this on your own
Is there an equivalent of download mode and ODIN/Heimdall flashable stock ROM for your device?
I have a Samsung Galaxy S variant - T-Mo Vibrant, and the download mode + heimdall took me and a few of my friends out of a tight corner quite a few times.
I have the exact same problem. Odin detects my phone..but when i tried doing a pone package install, it gets stuck at "connection setup...".
I experienced the same thing as you experienced, already three days I tried to solve the problem but still can not, sha no intention to go to him tomorrow samsung sad day my heart
Get a phone insurance, then dump it in the bath for half an hour
Jokes aside, if you were able to do a quality brick, perhaps they might not be able to find out what happened?
What do you guys think about that, can he get his phone fixed under warranty
hi...
i have a Galaxy Mini S5570 or Pop.
after i used Rom Manager and backup ROM, i figured i had chose the wrong ROM
and overwrite on my ROM.
Now my phone in bad Hard Brick.
no response, cannot combo and always black.
i been searching high and low for solution and tried many.
also done the soldering part but still cannot.
could someone tell me what should i do?
my only solution is send back to Samsung service?
please let me know. appreciate and thanks.
but i guess the last resort is to send to samsung.
because once you accidently flash a rom not meant for the phone.
the hardware may work abnormal way that cause the hardware shorted
or damage.
then this damage is not revisible.
therefore only solution is to change the damage part....
now waiting for tomorrow to get the phone back from local phone repair,
and send to samsung.... no choice.
or.... if anyone have new method / attempt to try on my own???
I have the same problem.TT
use this link.. may help you...

Well that's the reason why you need to read first and set your expectations that this might happen... If you read and carefully understand the methods of rooting/installing custom roms then you will be safe.

I occasionally I get "Warning - camera failed" error message on my new i9001. It clears up only if I reboot it. I'm running stock 2.3.3 firmware with no extra software installed yet besides being rooted with KeksKlip's method (I guess that has nothing to do with it).
Anyone experienced this problem ?
I suggest you flash manveru0's FeaMod CWM kernel and take a full backupp of your current system. Then flash another ROM. If the problem appears again, restore the backupp and go to claim your warranty

i was installed a i9000 rom on my samsung galaxy s2 i9100 (because i didn't read the title)..
i know it's a stupid mistake but- can be a solution to the hard brick that i got??
or i have to go to store to fix it??
please help me because my phone doesn't work at all (not download mode or recovery also..)
If download mode no longers works you will need a JTAG device to restore functionality, which are expensive.
So you will mostlikely have to go to a store.
If the repair guy wants to, he can find out that you flashed a wrong ROM.
Which means he will know your warranty is void and will most likely charge you for the repair.
i understand... oh crap - there is someway i can make them to don't know that i flashed a wrong rom? and i also want to ask you how to flash my store (16gb but its in my phone its not an a memory card).?
I did the same thing when i got my t989. I put a i9000 rom on it and it never turned back on...sorry man i had to get it warrantied out and got a new one. Thank god i did it in 3 hrs of getting the phone so they swapped it out no problem.
I think there's nothing you can do without going to your local repair shop. Good luck and be more careful in the future by reading instructions more than twice

right, ill try to act like stupid and i really hope they won't check my phone.
could they see any rom or there is actually no rom inside so they will never find it???
OK guys what your talking about is fraud and is not condoned on XDA. If you brick your device by Modding it that is on you and you should not try to get a warrenty replacement for it.
This is the reason you are advised to understand what you are doing BEFORE. You do it.

Good day people,
First of all. I want to say that I am aware of the forums regulations and that I have to use the search function before even creating a topic but I found nothing related to my situation.
A few days ago ( 3 ) I tried to flash my Samsung Galaxy SL i9003 with a the following ROM I9000XXJVU_I9000OXAJVU_OXA. Bare with me before saying that it's not compatible because it is a i9000 ROM. Which I wasn't aware of due to my foolishness at the beginning. I did not even bother to look for any consequences of what could happen of a unsuccessful ROM flash.
After flashing my phone with the i9000 ROM, odin said everything was successful, my phones screen turned bright light green. I turned the phone off and plugged out the cable. As far as I'm concerned, on the Q&A it said that flashing i9003 with a i9000 rom it would brick the phone. But this isn't the case. When I try to power the phone, it doesn't power at all, no signs of life. No button combination work. I have tried to make a custom JIG for it, using the 301k/300k Ohm resistor method, unsuccessful. Can any of you provide any information of how do I proceed? Maybe it is the batteries fault? I don't know. If the only option is warranty repair, I have broken the given rules and it will be most likely voided. Does any of you know what could I say ( lie ) to not get it voided?

I am glad at least u are aware of wrong rom flashing. Anyway ur phone is dead now. Simple solution is go to samsung service center & tell them a fake reason such as while updating ur phone via kies ur phone switched off automatically. Purposefully tell them that there is no fault from ur side. Never tell them that u have attempted to flash anything from odin. Thats all They will surely take ur phone & they will repair it without any cost.
But be carefully from next time. Have a habit of read everything before flashing anything
Adding a little thing.

That IS a brick, and that is the correct meaning of the word.
A soft brick is when you flash a firmware and it boots to the SL logo, a hard brick (yours) is where the phone dies completely.
Just wanted to clear this
And you can give JTAG a go, search for somebody that offers it first.

Hi guys, I need some help here. I'm not new to this at all and have rooted TONS of phones for people and myself. Something strange just happened though. I was attempting to flash a ROM (specifically Energy HD 2.0) through CWM. The flash was unsuccessful, which happens at times, so I thought "no big deal, I'll just do a quick restore and try again or try a different one". I chose the backup I wanted to restore to, it did the restore, it said it completed successfully, so I chose reboot. When I looked at it again I realized I never saw the boot animation or anything so I checked it.....dead. The phone wouldn't boot, wouldn't go into recovery, nothing. I've pulled the battery several times, tried both the stock recovery and CWM and I get nothing but a black screened brick. I don't even get the Samsung logo. I have no idea what I could have done here. I attempted the method in this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1840030. The only problem there is that I can't even get my device to go to downloading mode. I literally does nothing at all. When I connect to the PC, I get the sound of a USB device being connected, but no access to it and as far as I can tell the PC doesn't even see it. ODIN does nothing either because the device doesn't show up (it was showing up before). I'd really appreciate any help anyone can give on this as this is a brand new phone and I'd hate to think I bricked it beyond recovery somehow. Thanks in advance!
Your bricked because you flashed a rom on your verizon S3 for an international s3 variant. It's amazing you even got far enough to attempt a restore, but the damage was already done, as your nandroid was trying to run on an already corrupted system. You're up the Creek there my friend, sorry. There are links to a company that fixes them for $60, I can't remember the name, so I can't post the link, but will if I do.

Wow. I seriously can't believe I did that. No more flashing when I'm wasted... :cyclops: Glad I'm still in the 14 days and I can swap it out as DOA. If I can't turn it on to check it, they can't either.
Wow, glad I haven't made that mistake yet. I can see how easy it would be though.
Friends don't let friends flash fried. Good lesson in there somewhere 8 guess.
Alcohol + cell phone + boredom = brick.
The only reason it happened is because instead of going straight to the XDA Android dev thread for the phone like I normally would to find a ROM, I googled "best ROM's for GS3" and the list I got apparently was written by someone overseas (I now realize looking back at the article). I just clicked a link to one of the ROMs that looked cool and the link was actually to XDA anyway so I felt fine about the whole thing. Until my phone bricked that is...

Yes, committing fraud when you made a mistake yourself it the right thing to do.
Man up and pay to get it Jtagged imo. If you can't afford to get it Jtagged, you shouldn't be flashing ROMS.
Things like this are probably the reason the bootloader was locked in the first place.
I posted this somewhere else, but I figured it was more appropriate to place it here.
After rooting and installing CWM using the method in the sticky at the top of the development section, (darkman's unnoficial CWM Recovery), My touchscreen no longer responds to finger input. The pen works fine, and is the only way I can navigate the tablet. Touch input doesn't work in CWM-touch either. I have tried: flashing a custom rom, flashing a stock rom through CWM, flashing stock firmware through Odin (both 4.0.4 and 4.1.2), resetting the triangle count, factory wipe/data reset, re-installing stock recovery, and changing various options in the settings. Nothing helped at all. I'm currently waiting for a reply on filing a warranty claim, but would really like not to have to send it in and wait for a new one. I've seen other people with similar issues, but most of them are either the s-pen doesn't work, or both s-pen and touch don't work. Does anyone have any idea of how to fix it, or is it definitely a hardware issue?
Thanks,
Reffu
Hi,
same issue here. Today the touchscreen stopped working suddenly after i flashed the Android Revolution HD 5.0 Rom yesterday. However, the S-Pen is still working fine. Installing other ROMs and the Stock ROM via Odin did not help. Issue allso appears in Touch-enabled-Recovery.
I see no reason, why this should be a hardware issue, although my N8000 came back from service a few days ago, where they also replaced the screen and digitizer.
Had anyone this issue before and was abled to resolve it?

I have the same problem on an n8013. Installed Revolution ROM HD version 5, rebooted and lost me touchscreen completely. Nothings worked. Flashed back to stock 4.1.2 but still no go.

to read this as a Note 10.1 newbie is not very encouraging. are there any similar facts between all of you like
which Note model do you have
how did you jaibreak (which method)
which rom did you have before
which rom do you have now
how did you flash a new rom
...
is there a way to find out whether the touchscreen is really "dead for touch"?
This is a bit scary - my Note 10.1 is arriving today, and I plan to root it at a minimum. I actually don't mind Touchwiz all that much on my Note 2 (which is running CleanROM ACE), so I think I might just root the 10.1 for now.
So restoring completely back to stock (via Odin) doesn't fix it? That is really odd that ROM-ing this thing might cause a hardware failure...

Did anyone solve this, I'm having the same problem.
I never actually ended up solving this. I sent it in for repair (I had just bought it about a week before attempting to root) after flashing back to stock, and now I have a "new" one . I really want to root it, but I'm afraid the same thing is going to happen again. I really don't want to have to check if the warranty will cover the same issue twice, even if they don't know I rooted.

Just curious - did you just root, or did you root and install a ROM?
I am only rooted so far - haven't felt the need to ROM yet - partially due to worries about this happening. I bought a refurb from Best Buy and only get 90 days of warranty.

If they say you got a new one, you got one. They'll tell you otherwise if there's an issue over the phone.
But I wouldn't be afraid of ROMs, but to be more diligent and wise when it comes to choosing them. It's like choosing a poisonous mushroom versus an edible one to make stroganoff or stir fry. If you know what to avoid for the next time and follow the correct process to doing the root and flashing, there will not be an issues.
This is from someone who has soft-bricked my first tablet and learned how to unbrick my SIM-less Captivate and Note 10.1. It's how you apply the method and how much attention you practice not getting stuck into these situations is what matters. Especially since I bricked my tablet via experimentation and un-bricked it on the same day with ease.
It's not some big complex deal of rocket science or something only the mere geniuses can do, its how you perceive yourself and how you act. If you believe that you will suck and brick it to kingdom come , it will happen intentionally or subconsciously.
In this case, it was a freak accident where the file/s accessed and deleted the wrong files which allowed for capacitive touchscreen use, and it should be reported to x developers if you have not done so already.
I have rooted and used the Revolution HD rom, the Rom where you customize the colors of the bar/other things, and on the Captivate, the AOKP Collective. I further customized the latter with the Xperia launcher as it zips.
Did anyone find a repair for this besides replacement? My Note 2 is doing the same thing now.
Has anyone found a fix for the touch screen not working yet??
Anyone have any ideas?
Technicians input for touch problem
I am a technician and been repairing electronic devices for over 30 years and I would say the majority of repairs I have done were caused by people not happy with how their standard brand new device works and feel they need to make it better by modifying it in some way or other.
Now with smartphones if you didn't want the device as a standard rom and operating system why buy it ?
If you think the phone would be so much better with a modified rom then buy one working with a modded rom to start with as most of you put as much effort into modding as you did in your school work.
Anyone with half a brain that follows the instructions on the mod sites exactly as shown step by step will never have a problem, all those that do end up with paper weights or bricks didn't follow the instructions in numerical order.
Believe it or not even if after you have modded a rom and brought it back to standard they know it has been modded as they have a list of problems associated with repairs after roms have been modded so you are only fooling yourself they don't.
Same as the smoker that tells his Dr he has given up even though all the symptoms prove he really didn't.
So in my expert opinion if you play with modding and stuff it up why should you be eligible for a warranty claim ? The manufacturer has sold you or supplied a working item that you decided to f_ck around with and because of your stupidity expect some one else to pay for it.
I am not saying don't mod your phone with all the great roms out there but please to save yourself a lot of pain and cost some poor smuck trying to run a business in these economic times a lot of out of pocket from sending items back for replacement or warranty plus the time it takes to do all the paperwork and such, please please please read the instructions 300% or triple check you are doing everything exactly as the instructions say and you will be enjoying all the new benefits of that customised rom and laughing at all the noobs stuffing up their brand new device from not doing so.
I know this won't fix your problem but reread that last bit it was your problem as you are to clever to follow some one else's instructions
anyone have solution regarding this issue, mine have issue also, can anyone spare how to fix it without changing hardware?

WOW.. And you come to XDA For ? Most of the time The modded roms often fix manufacture issues and add features the manufacturer decided users do NOT Need ..Being your first post on xda . I do NOT think attacking users is the way to go. Also your post adds nothing to help the users..

Have any of you who have this issue try to do a full Wipe and flash pit file for your device.. Something is being left behind and not over written is most likely the Cause.. Also post this in the Rom developers forum So maybe he can look into it more as its his Creation..
