what is Kaiser rom? is it Kaiser Operating System? what benefit will i receive if i change or upgrade my original AT&T kaiser Rom. thank you. once again. please don't be offended, i am a newbie, i have already tried find threads for explaining this basic thing, but i unable to find it, please some expert take 1 minute or so explain to me, thanky you

i just read some threads , someone said that HTC rom is better than my ATT rom, where can i download this HTC Rom? go to HTC website, they offer on it's official website ? how to upload HTC to my ATT kaiser phone ? thank you.

Seems to me like you're speed reading the WIKI in the same way people read a cheap book..... don't start at the beginning, read every other chapter then (and I'm waiting for this one) complain that the book was crap because you missed something.
20 minutes after your first post asking what a rom is you're suddenly 'expert' enough to discern that the HTC ROM is better than your ATT one. Well yes - you're probably right but how long will it be before you discover that your radio might not work after your upgrade (another 5 minutes) or that you can screw up without hardSPL (sorry missed that one 'cos it was in chapter 2 and I only read odd numbered chapters on Tuesdays).
Go away and come back when you've learned how to read.

Sepig. People are going to bash you if you don't spend a lot of time reading the wiki and forums before you post questions because you can seriously screw up your device if you don't. From your post, it will be a while before you can upgrade your phone.

I totally understand that this is a very basic question but instead of loading your guns you should just point the person in the right direction like ericc191 here. Just think of yourself when you got your 1st pda phone ever...

yes, true... as newbie we just don't know where to start... BUT don't just read for few lines... then open a new thread to ask question... after few minutes more, find more answer and maybe more question... open another new thread...

Have you considered that I might actually be a 7th grader???
Anyway, a bit harsh maybe - but if people fall over backwards to help others who are too lazy or impatient to help themselves then we'll be as inundated with useless posts as the Hermes forums.
And fyi, I don't normally flame noobs if they've done a bit or real work themselves - instead I normally try to help.
Also fyi, I was mildly flamed as a noob - ONCE only. I went away with my tail between my legs and learned to read - once I could read I learned to write.

Flaming is a bit pointless if done to someone who, as was obviously the case here, comes with a complete blank and probably doesn't even know what a wiki is and what/where to look first.
On the other hand, it's a perfect opportunity to throw one's wisecracks at the noob and entertain the forum. A bit too easy though, don't you think?

Totally agree! This forum is not started just a few days ago. There are plenty of info. to solve most problems. Encourage people being lazy is actually not good for them. No need to scold them but just point them to the right place to read. If they don't. Just ignore them. I've been ignored before, but now I am able to cook my own Kaiser ROM.
Spoiling people is not helping.
In fact I would propose there is a black out period like 24hrs to 48hrs that a newbie cannot start any new thread. They may post to ask question but not starting new thread as soon as they register the forum.

I see this as a website to go to to find answers.
Similarly to how I would go to Dell.com (or whatever) if I wanted to find a PC to buy to play my latest game I bought.
I don't go reading through the technical manual on how a CPU or GPU works so that I know which one to buy. I look to the people who already have the knowledge to answer the questions I have.
Most of the regular posters on here (I'm guessing) already know a lot about flashing PDAs etc... especially the first guy who flamed the OP. If you don't want to share your knowledge then don't take part in the forum. Yes, there are people who are trying to find an easy way to learn everything that you know and I agree that they should do their research etc... but this guy was abviously wanting a few pointers and got blasted for it. Take it as a compliment that he feels confident in this forum to be able to prvide him with the bit of knowledge he requires to do a flash and then be done. He has never done one before and will never do one again so why does he have to spend weeks reading material that potentially could give him answers that you could write in a line or so?

Nobody get paid in this forum. You pay Dell for their machine so you may and should entitle some service. If you get some free service AND some free spanking in this forum, that is life, no flesh does not come with blood. Even experienced one may get spanked once a while by asking non-sense question. No need to be too thin-skin.
You may also be the lucky ones who has plenty of money and being pampered and like the noobs who like to ask million dollar question like "Which is the best ROM in this forum?" or "How do I flash my ROM step_by_step with guaranteed no risk?" or "Where do I get free SIM unlock service?" and expect an answer right away.
Many people paid to have their machine unlocked. Getting knowledgeable advice from someone is a service and entitled to get compensation for. Talk to a lawyer for advice, you will fully appreciate all the good folks in this forum and they are the one needed to be pampered and not the noobs.
One will learn and learn by reading this forum. It is more like drugs to me now.
He hasn't replied, that is good, that means he is doing reading and reading and reading..... If he is not, why he want to risk his $600 machine and ended up blaming everyone in this forum for not helping him or prevent him from doing that.
I don't think he was flamed by the #2 or #3 or # .... He is being educated! He is benefiting by this experience! The machine that's saved maybe his!

Lets get a bit real here...
The name of this site is XDA-Developers. There is a bit of a clue in the title as to a certain amount of pre-knowledge. This guy asked what a ROM is - he could have got his answer from dictionary.com but instead decided to go to a group of people who are (or were) efectively researching on the forefront of the XDA pda's.
Most noobs (me included) have a lot of experience of computers but at first they don't have any idea of how to translate this into WM5 or WM6. But they learn quick because they already have the pre-knowledge to enter a developers site. This question was nothing like that and there is a greater than 90% chance that we'll be fending off the 'what is the best rom', 'how do I insert the stylus', 'how do you spell brick' type of questions unless he is discouraged from proceeding without some serious reading.
I know there are nice and nasty ways to tell someone what to do, but my experience of these forums is that people who don't read will not read the 'help granny cross the road' style of advice - but they do tend to get the point when flamed a bit (and it could have been worse).
Anyway, I hope he's gone away - keeps reading and then comes back a bit better prepared. And lets face it - anyone can flash a Rom, but not everyone can recover from a bad flash - and bad flashes is what we want to prevent at any cost.

New Chefs Need A Lil Help !!!!

Im what you guys would call the ultimate Noob at rom creating
i ve created my rom kitchen and made several attemps at creating my first rom ......with very lil sucsess i may add .... i ve made roms that dont start right and even dont go passed the bootloading screen ...lol but all of you have started where im at and probably say yeah i remember those days ...lol
anyway i ve talked to some of you a lot and the seinor members and moderators seem to help me a lot which im thankful for but im afraid im still not on the right page of where i need to be as far as rom creating is ive taken your advise and put it to good use and has got me as far as im am now but i think im just anoyed at my self for not really getting it ........ i have flashed maybe everbodys rom on here to my poor att Tilt ..from Dutty's to Hyperdragon III and liked that the way Sleuth's 3.0 is i would like to make a rom like his i ve tryed to understand the UC concept of his rom but im just not getting it ..... I really dont like to give up on things that interest me but at this point im afraid of messing up my Tilt........any help would be greatly appreciated .

Im very new to posting threads and fourms period and i came across this web site on a google search and checked it out. I read some things here and thought this was very interesting stuff mabye i could learn this and do it to my phone.So here i am learning and asking questions and trying out what im learning on this site on my phone and seeing some amazing things go on in my phone . I am pleased at myself for what i have done . But like all things new, sometime you get stuck at a point where you need a lil help so thats why im posting this thread to see if someone who has been though this before can help me understand a bit more about the ROM creating process. Im sorry for posting a lot of time,and asking a lot of questions and im also sorry for my mispelling of some words in my post but if i can get someone to maybe take me under there wing and show me the ropes that would be great. I would like to see my name next to a rom that i created one day.

can somebody please tell me how to get touch flo3d on this, all i can see is the windows mob 6.1, i have no idea what to do ahh

I'd just flash a different ROM. It'll likely be better than the stock ROM you have now and it'll have TouchFlo3D installed if you pick a ROM with it built in.

1st , you posted the same vague question on at least 2 forums. This one is a little better.
2nd. You need to read the sticky's at the top of the forums. All the answers should be there.
3rd. Use the search.
If you can't seem to get it working then maybe someone else will spend some time to help. But if you spend 30sec describing your issue and goto lunch.......................................then I'll do the same for you....

Weather update

There is no automatic weather update in manila 2.5.19211... I have ticked the "download data automatically". I have also selected every one hr. but updates seems to happen only when manually going to the weather page or tab. I am using udk Leo R7.

Hi. Ok, i have recently seen various post where people are asking for help about a partiqular issue. Yet all the the time, u have been either rude or cockey and totally demotivating.
I can understand your fustration that some people may have not used the search function,have posted in the wrong thread, or ultimatley have started a new thread, but i feel that is not the way to respond. y dont u just point them to the right direction in a more friendly way?
we were all a newbie once...(well i still am Lol!!)
I hope u dont take it the wrong way, but i personally wouldnt like it if someone responded like that. As a senior member, we look up to you guys to try and help us and or point us to the right direction.

Thanks to all who don't use search and open directly a new thread, it is more difficult to find something for the searching people (like me), because you get a huge number of hits with irrelevant threads... Get it?
I don't want to demotivate but motivate to search and read. When you give directly a helping link, they stay doing it.
Seeing every time new opened threads from newbies with every time the same silly questions, that's very demotivating for us, the people who supposed to help you. And that's what you'r looking for here, somebody who wants to help you. We don't have to do it, but we like it because this forum is a bit like a hobby for us.
So, we can shoose, saying nothing more or trying to teach you how a forum works. I prefer the last thing... And if somebody like me (the bad one) point you in the right direction, it's not for beeing bad, but for getting a better usefull forum. You can see in my posthistory that it's really multiple times a day that new useless threads were opened...
Normally it's a work for the moderators, but they also have a live and can not be always here, because also them are doing this as a hobby. Be all glad that I don't be one of them or it was the same comment and also closing the thread directly.
I take some time for this post because I can quote him for futur use when I get comments again from not-readers, not-searchers, new-post-openers and silly-question-posters...

I am using UDK R7, I get the updates,.. have you tried a hard reset see if that sorts it out...

Sorry that i posted to wrong section. I thought it was a problem with Sense and not the rom, reason being my posting to this section. I think hard resetting would be extreme. Will search and see if anything comes up.

I understand bro, all i was getting at was just try to put it in a nicer way,thats all. regarding "silly" posts or questions, yeah, i have seen some VERY silly questions and i think to myself "the human stupidity IS infinite"! and i understand that it is coz of those posts/questions, ppl can get fustrated as it does clutter the forum.
I know you have helped alot of ppl, continue to do so.

root help. htc inspire

Hi i am new to rooting and everything i have the htc inspire 4g and when i try to root it it will start rooting and do its thing i downloaded the hack from this website but then it will say eaarr and it will go to the stat up menu and say htc in green with white back round and just fade away and thats all it will do now this is my 5 htc inspire and it keeps doing this and i really want to root it but im scared to do it again because it all ways messes up can you help ?? now i have a new htc inspire and did not root yet but want two so ill wait for some good help till i do it again thanks.

WOW!! Incredible how people time and again get soo lazy they refuse to help themselves by reading. This is a DEV SITE, NOT A HELP SITE! We expect you to do research and help yourself before you ask questions that have time and again been answered. Do yourself a favor and go to the hack kit thread and read the entire thing. It's not difficult assuming you have a reading level above the 3rd grade. You'll probably notice that you either did one of two things: you either didn't follow a step or you didn't see that there is an IRC chatroom to help people with issues during the rooting process. PLEASE SEARCH AND READ before you destroy your phone.

The hack kit is a simple tool provided you take the time to read everything, which includes both effen maunal and the OP in that thread. I logged in just so I could chime in on this one.
Calling people names is rude and not tolerated here. If you were to answer as many questions here as some of us have you would understand the lack of patience and intolerance we sometimes express. That being said, bacon boy is right that you need to do a little more reading in the hack kit thread, if you don't find your answers there you can log onto the irc server and get help there. No offense but starting a new thread because you do not feel like doing a little bit of searching and reading on your own is pretty thoughtless and lazy. I can see all sides of this arguement. I know the feeling of "UhOh, I just bricked my phone" its frantic and scary. On the other hand when I started on XDA and was poking around reading this and that before making my move. I kept seeing. "DO YOUR RESEARCH, READ THIS, READ THE EFFEN MANUAL IT'S IN THE EFFEN HACK KIT". So I did. For 3 days I read every bit of info before downloading anything. As far as the devs I get how so many questions about nonissues can be frustrating and make you want to choke slam a stranger. But it does all boil down to the rules of XDA.
Read everything, all posts in a thread AMD the Q&A thread of whatever you initially looking at and only post if you can find the answer somewhere else. But most of all read the instructions.
Are you 100% sure you totally bricked all 4 of your previous phones? Be wise there's been at least 4 times I thought I bricked mine. And they aren't cheap so youu may want to be sure of that because it seems you probably have just spent a grand on phones. Sorry for your troubles. Cyrax is a good guy and I'm sure he can help with whatever the issue is.

Agreed please read up on what your doing. Modding the software on your phone is no simple thing. Yes it has been made easy but in no way is it simple. Please read up and search. What ever happened believe me your not the first to have it happen.
