Need Blur Dialer. apk and .odex files - Defy Android Development

Please if anybody can copy and post the two files in the subject line , from Eclair 2.1.
I updated to 2.2 Froyo Tmobile US and that update came with smart dialer . I personally prefer the full screen dialer from Eclair (never was big fan of smart dial anyhow...)
Thanks

Files taken from my Nandroid backup of Brazilian Defy 2.1 JORLA_U3_6.36.1

Thanks a lot - would you mind sharing blurdialer.apk and blurdialer.odex from same backup.

Can't find these files on my backup.

Can you maybe copy them from system/app onto SD card?
Thanks

[Morph] Swype Theme / Keyboard Layouts - updated

OK, second try, (please ignore all posts up to number 17)
Here are some Swype Layouts that i collected over the past few feeks, most of them are not done by me but it is hard for me to give the right people credits cause most of the Swype threads were deleted. So please let me know if you'll find "your" png's here.
QWERTZ AND QWERTY Keyboards are modified. Currently there is no Swype Beta version out there for QWERTZ, but maybe in the future (or someone has a "modified" version already).
Compatible with all Roms and all WVGA (800x480) Swype Versions!
What you need:
- Metamorph (root, busybox...)
Instructions:
- go to data/app/ and search for com.swype.android.inputmethod.apk (or ...inputmethod-1.apk ...inputmethod-2.apk)
- move the file to system/app/ (MOVE! not Copy)
- be sure the file is called exactly com.swype.android.inputmethod.apk .. if there is a -1.apk or -2.apk rename it!
- reboot your phone! check if swype is still working properly
- copy the desired layout (the complete zip file attached, do not unzip!) to /sdcard/AndroidThemes
- open Metamorph and click Unzip/Extract new theme
- choose the desired theme
- klick Apply all
- REBOOT!
- choose swype as input method again (long click in empty input field -> input method -> swype)
- should be done now
Please report back if this works for you, this is my first Morph.
If you do not want to move your apk from data/app to system/app you might use Daneshm90 great script which pulls the swype.apk from the phone, copies the keyboard files in it, signs it and pushes it back. To get the right Keyboard files please extract them from my Morph themes (they are located in assets/keyboards) and copy them into the images folder of the script. The script backups your Swype settings and dictionary!
You can find his Script here .
Thanks Daneshm90 for the script and his kind help and Formel-LMS for his private message support!
original Style if you want to undo the changes.
Im confused, how is metamorph capable of modifying apps in /data/app ??? Those apks require resigning which metamorph doesnt do.
blah you are right, works for me cause i signed the swype apk for myself...
so cut/paste to system/app should be fine?
Thanks for the hint.. my first morph obv.
Well yea but u gotta then provide the apk which the forum frowns upon
Heres an alternative i created for another swype themer.
Link
sorry, had a "typo" in my reply. wrote data instead of system first.
what about cut/paste from data/app to system/app and then morph. Might that work?
edit: wow, awesome script!
so can i just replace your png with mine and upload the modified script? downside is that people are loosing their dictionary and have to start from "swype-scratch"

Yes, that should theoretically work. So this is wht would need to happen:
User with swype already installed will have to backup that apk.
Uninstall swype
Push to /system/app/
Then apply ur morph
Restart phone.
Or u cud use my script where all it does is :
Pulls the apk from ur phone
Extracts it
Replaces the images with urs
Repacks it
Signs it
Uninstalls swype from ur phone
Installs this modded one

Hmm k. Didnt realize that. That should be an easy fix just gotta backup the /data/data folder for swype. K while im modifying the script, want me to change anything else ? such as more folders than assets ???

i just moved my com.swype.android.inputmethod.apk from data/app to system/app and it still works? Is this cause i have my "special" version or is an uninstall really necessary? -> edit: puh, ok.. now it is gone lol... move does not really work lol
edit: no, just assets is fine!

Hmm try restarting and see if it causes any issues, if it doesnt then try applying a morph and see if that causes any issues. If both dont then i guess ur fine
issues here lol, swype is gone hehe. trying to reinstall... confused right now a bit hehe
ok had to reinstall after moving from data to system.
can you adopt your script and implement my files (or i can do the copy/paste work for myself..)
here are my files (or morphs for system/app instead of data app)

That'll be generic, so once i just change something in my script and upload it, u just gotta place one of ur themes png's inside the pics folder and run the script.
great thanks, please let me know as soon as you are done.
thanks again for your kind help.
K so im done the script. It now backs up swype data and restores after. One thing though, it seems as though the filename convention is different for the pngs inside assets/keyboards. Im using swype 1.56.30.7625.t100 and when i replace ur pngs inside that folder it still shows default. Is it version dependent ?
Any way, heres the script. The script version u downloaded, notice in the pics folder the filenames are:
SwypeRef_LS_Blue_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_LS_Blue_Shifted_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_LS_Editing_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_LS_Editing_Jump_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_LS_Editing_Jump_Select_HVGA.png

SwypeRef_LS_Numeric_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_LS_Standard_CapsLock_wBlue_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_LS_Standard_Shifted_wBlue_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_LS_Standard_wBlue_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_PT_Blue_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_PT_Blue_Shifted_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_PT_Editing_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_PT_Editing_Jump_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_PT_Editing_Jump_Select_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_PT_Editing_Select_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_PT_Numeric_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_PT_Standard_CapsLock_wBlue_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_PT_Standard_Shifted_wBlue_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_PT_Standard_wBlue_HVGA.png
Those seemed to work for my swype. Once again it could be version specific.
Link
Thanks, i will try this later!
No not version depended, but you're using HVGA and my files are for WVGA
Moving from data/app/ to system/app/ works now, i forgot to reboot to check it.
I followed the steps as outlined in the first post. After that swype was gone...reinstalled it via android commander...et voila: swype is back with the HTC theme (that I wanted to try out).
Thanks for the theme!!
Confused
Hey thanks for the info. I was wondering, does the swype apk have to be a "working" one? I tried may apks and all of them were out of beta. I also tried your steps and they didn't work for me. I'm just a little confused, sorry for the dumb questions.
is this for the newest version of swype? 1.60.36.8214?

Adding elements of shipped ROM to CyanogenMod 6.1.2

After using CM 6.1.2 RC2 for a day, I find that I miss certain things that come in the shipped MT4G ROM and I'm wondering if there's a way to get them into the custom ROM. In no particular order:
1. Contacts App
I really like the shipped ROM contacts app over this one. I did an adb pull /system/app for both the shipped ROM and CM 6.1.2 RC2. The shipped ROM has htcContacts.apk and htcContacts.odex, but no Contacts.apk. CM 6.1.2 RC2 has Contacts.apk. Could I transfer htcContacts.apk and htcContacts.odex to the sdcard and install them? Will this give me the shipped contacts app? Or are there other things not included in CM 6.1.2 that are necessary for the shipped Contacts app to function?
2. Calendar and calendar widget
Essentially the same question as #1. In this case, both ROMs have a Calendar.apk, and the shipped ROM additionally has htccalendarwidgets.apk and htccalendarwidgets.odex. Can I replace CM's Calendar.apk with the shipped ROM's version and add the calendarwidgets?
3. Icons and sound files
I'd like to grab some of the icons and sound files that come packaged in the shipped ROM. If they're on internal memory, I just need to do an adb pull and place them on the sdcard, and from there I can access them through the launcher. Does anyone know where those files might be?
Thanks in advance
1. Contacts App
Based on HTC Framework. By the time you're done importing necessary libs/framework resources you're going to end up with Sense rom. However, there many replacement apps on the market, some are very similar to Sense, try them out.
2. Calendar and calendar widget
Same thing as #1.
3. Icons and sound files
This is too general to answer exactly but
You can put sounds on your sd card using following folder structure
sdcard/media/audio/ringtones
sdcard/media/audio/alarms
sdcard/media/audio/notifications
They will show up along with included ringtones/alarms/notifications after reboot
As far as icons - not sure what you mean.
This thread screams Q&A section.
The contacts, calendar, and Widgets are closed source HTC apps so you wont find them in CM..try launcher pro plus...it has some very nice Widgets that u might like. And for sounds and icons you can use metaporph to change icons and create a folder called media in your SD card with the sound files u like
@face_melter on twitter
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Thanks for the responses. It appears I need to do some more research with regard to the contacts and calendar apps.
Let me try to rephrase #3: The shipped ROM had icons and sound files already loaded onto the device when it came out of the box, probably part of HTC Sense. For instance, the icon for the Messages app is not the green android speech bubble, it looks more like a rolodex card. The icon for the contacts app is different as well. The notification sound I used was pre-loaded on the shipped ROM but is not included in CM. And so on.
I have a backup of the shipped ROM. If I know were these files are located, I can flash back to shipped, adb pull the files I want to my PC, reflash back to CM, and go from there.
Hope that makes sense (not Sense ). I'm happy to do the legwork so long as I know what I'm doing.
Please do not post discussions in Development section.
A lot easier would be to download a stock rom then extracting nandroids (unthemed iced glacier would be a perfect rom to do that)
All ringtones are loacated in /system/media/audio - you can just copy the whole media folder to the root of your sd card or get individual rings.
All apps are located in /system/app/ To get your icons - you need to open up each individual apk and look in "res" folder. Somewhere in either "drawable" or 'drawable-hdpi" subfolders you will find icons. Or you can download espresso icon pack for the market and extract all icons from there (if there's s such a thing.)
Good luck.

Thanks borodin1, I did manage to get those audio files via ADB. About the icons, what do I use to open up an apk?

7zip is good and will open .apk out of the box but any zip utilities will open up apk files, just have to know how to work them... I think that if you use WinZip you have to rename file to .zip and it will work just fine. No sure about others.... I use 7zip because it's free and works great.
Good luck.
The perfect way to achieve what you want is install Launcher Pro Plus on your CM rom. You get the sense like widgets such as the calendar app and you can change the icons of the messaging app and replace it with the "rolodex card" look that you wish. And You can unzip an iced glacier rom and extract the audio files from there and put it on your Sd card under media then notifications, that's what I did to keep my text and call sounds that came with the phone.
Anyways, hope that helped!

install apk extracted from other stock firmware or roms deodexed - help

Hello everyone, I hope I have posted in the right section, I have to ask you a question that despite several hours of trial and research remains to me: I was going to download the firmware official google nexus 7 and take the apk that interest me, and install them on our tablet 7plus.
I downloaded the version both deodexed and odexed of the google nexus 7 and I extracted, for example, the contacts.apk DEODEXED from it.Installing the apk android ics stock tells me: error with the analysis of the packet. I also tested with version odexed putting the apk file and the odex file into the folder system / apps but also restarting did not work ...
1) it's possible what I want and for example it's possible to install another launcher (ex. launcher.apk stolen from google nexus 7 stock deodexed) like a normal apk and use it just pressing home button and selecting it instead of touchwiz launcher?
2) if yes can you explain me the procedure?
3) do you know where I can find the backgrounds stock once downloaded any ROM (which gives me the compacted system folder plus other img etc etc?
Thank you in advance .... sorry for my english, i hope you have understood my intention : I'm going to replace the application of our contacts and launcher tab with those of the google nexus 7
See you soon, Andrea

I don't think you can just copy over a system apk from one device to another without porting it which I cannot help you with. Same thing goes for the launchers they too would need to be ported over. You could try and use something like apkManager to decompile the app then make the necessary changes to it, i.e. resolution, device name, etc, etc,. then compile it. I have no experience doing this with apps and you might find some help by digging around in the main android development forum, not the one for this device the main one.

[Q] Converting TB files to XML

Hi guys,
well first post here and I've been told I can only really post here.
Some background info, I've installed the Cyanogen 9 custom ROM onto my Galaxy S. Everything works fine and use Titanium Backup for restoration. Everything is perfect, except for call logs.
My ROM before this was based the the official 2.2 Samsung firmware.
Yes, of course, after I've changed ROMs I read that TB has a Migrate to diff ROM feature which needs the paid version for, which I don't have. I also read that you can use the XML option (which is also the paid one) but I didn't use that with my initial backup.
TB backs up to 4 different files; .properties, .tar.gz, apk.gz & odex.gz. I'm not 100% on what they all are but as far as I'm aware, .gz is a compression system, like .rar/.zip. I think apk is the App file and the odex is the Data file. I believe call logs are in com.android.providers.telephony.
Actual question: Is there some way I can convert any of these files into XML so I can restore it, possibly with the Call Logs app?
Side questions: Does anyone know fully what the 4 different files are that TB creates? Can I install my old phone.apk/contacts.apk and remove the current one?
Thanks heaps for your help! :good:
EDIT: OK, it seems it's the com.android.providers.contacts file, not telephony. I extracted the .tar.gz file and found phone numbers in there I recognise.

Porting these to a new phone is hard so take the android version you have and look for other samsung roms of the same version with the memo apk then install that apk and restore the data. A more experienced dev could tell you exactly what to do.

Can only know if you try.
The depenencies on these apks are on the touchwiz framework and stuff like that.
As long as the rom you take it from is a touchwiz samsung rom of the same version of android and the rom you put it on has the touchwiz framework then your fine but try it first.
If all else fails then you could be hacker and decompress the titanium backup zip file for your memo data and use an sqlite editor from the play store to see if you can read the memos that you left.
Or after that you could load the original rom up again and restore it on that or restore it on another of the same rom.(Another phone maybe)

i hope that the different framework between two roms is the problem...
