I have until April 16 for my 15 day window to swap devices. I wanted true objective opinions comparing the two options. I am thrilled with the overall performance of the TB but the things I am weighing are...
SAMOLED vs WVGA TFT (will the SAMOLED improve the poor battery life enough)
HDMI out for the samsung (I wish they had provided this on the TB)
all else seems the same to me since I would be rooting it and not using the touch Wiz UI or waiting on samsung for updates.
Is there any info that could/would tip the scales to Samsung?
Thank you for you input.
There is the build quality. From what I've seen the charge appears to be made with a cheap looking plastic back, while the build quality on the thunderbolt is great. There's also those physical buttons rather than the capacitive ones, but that's just personal preference. The hummingbird gpu is far superior to that of the thunderbolt, and the battery on the charge is larger. Whatever your decision you'll still have a great phone either way.
Its really your personal preference, sense or touchwiz. Light or heavy. Physical or capacitive. Its reallly up to you, all the LTE phones will and must be great

I just came from the epic, and I feel like a fool for not buying htc sooner. Yeah, I liked the screen... But this screen is nothing to complain about. I am certain that the lack of samsung software updates will eventually bother you. My epic spent its whole life running buggy software leaks, and the alternative was horribly out dated stock os. I was sure that samsung was a better choice and I am still bothered that I even bothered with that phone.

If Samsung gave out better software updates and better build quality(comparable to iphone or htc), they would reign superior. No joke.

AMOLED Kicks ass!..the only thing i miss from my fascinate.
I would wait for the S II instead of Charge. New Touchwiz. No gps nor wifi option from notification bar is a minor inconvenience. Lack of mediahub, readerhub and Samsung software integration is another one. I'm ok w Samsung build coming from galaxy tab

But seriously guys. Great response time. Thanks a ton! I will agree that I wish Samsung had not cornered the market on AMOLED. I love those displays but cant stand their current attitude towards updates and customer interest. I wasn't worried much about updates since I would be rooting immed, and personally I do miss not having to reach all the way on top in a bit of an awkward position to wake my device. That said I will stick with my TB now I believe pending some amazing life altering experience with the AMOLED on the 14th when I hold the charge side by side with the TB. If if is nominal then TB it is, if it will change the way I am able to use my phone with the AMOLED then Charge!
Thanks again for all the great input!

Truly, it doesn't matter that Charge is probably a better device. The community support for the thunderbolt can't be matched, that's why I'm sticking with it till htc throws out a dual core lte phone. And honestly, besides the battery, the device is a perfect fit for me. dlna works as a great substitute to hdmi, I'm happy. And don't knock the kickstand, I never put the phone down without it deployed. I like everyone to have to look at it when they walk bye it.
I own both Samsung Epic and HTC Thunderbolt. From experience:
Pros
HTC OS/software more stable
Samsung AMOLED (black should be black and not grey)
Samsung GPU performance
Samsung Touchwiz is more intuitive (don't care much for eye candy)
Cons
Samsung slow with OS releases and usually buggy in general
HTC weight (Ford Pinto weighs more than Porsche but it doesn't mean it's better)
HTC no built in file explorer
In a nutshell, Samsung has better hardware but it's nullified by unstable and slow software updates. HTC is a more usable phone and better experience overall due to more stable software even though the hardware is not as strong.
Thunderbolts gpu isnt as bad as people think. U get over 50 fps via neocore still.
How is the gpu in the Samsung superior?
My TB performs better than my Facinate ever did, stock or rooted. Development is a lot better too.

Even though I believe Samsung will have its own support community I do agree that the TB community is great and has a head start just as the og droid did and still does. Two things would make me thrilled.
1. Cyanogen gets an officially supported TB rom done.
2. Someone creates a DLNA to tv converter box (for those of us without DLNA supported tv's).
The thunderbolt has slcd screen and in my opinion I like the slcd better than samoled. I have owned nexus one (amoled), captivate (super amoled), incredible (amoled), incredible (slcd), and now thundeebolt (slcd) so I have used enough to give my opinion. I was a huge amoled fan and that is the reason I ignored everyone about samsung phones and picked up the captivate. Nevr again will I ever buy samsung absolutely horrible company that only cares about their bottom dollar. I would keep the bolt just for that, but if you want more I personally like slcd way more than super smoled as it uses the pentile matrix display (if you want an excellent read then google "arstechnica pentile") with slcd you get the bright vivid colors without the trade off of blurry text. I personally would choose slcd over any screen tech out right now, but that is just me. Besides the samsung phone being, well, samsung made it has that god awful chin and worst touchwiz. I know you are going to root but I promise the developer support will be much better on the bolt and verizon is sure to do their best to lock down the charge and we don't even know how long it will take to root and even longer get a great rom to get you off touchwiz. I see no positives in ever buying samsung especially over HTC but again that is me. Hope this helps and at least you know no matter what choice you make you will have the god send verizon LTE.

When everything is similar to all upcoming devices, specs and features get blurred. I say kickstand jokingly but with truth. Its a hardware feature I use a lot. There both so similiar and they both have there flaws no matter what device you get but if your having a hard time deciding on a phone I would look at the little tiny frivolous things that make that phone. ........ Kickstand.

Hi my HTC hero has ran past its time so now im looking for a new phone i feel a dual core will be the most worth it due to as more and more phones that are dual core are released more apps will utilize them. I have decided not to go with an lg or htc because of previous experiences so now I'm looking at either the atrix or sgs2. Should I wait for the sgs2 or just get the atrix now...
Hold out, at least until the Atrix bootloader is unlocked, otherwise, the SGS2 would probably be the best bet.
Get the S2 better hardware and no moto-bleah !
go with samsung!
thinner than iphone, super lightweight, 8mp cam w/ flash, 2mp front facing, and overall design is just amazing. oh and dont forget the super amoled plus display! moto atrix is indeed nice, but i hate motoblur.
lg was a refrence to optimus 2x and htc refrence to sensation
Samsung for sure. Doubt the atrix bootloader will ever be unlocked.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
yea atrix sucks, I played with it at bell not impressed
Galaxy S II, no doubt.
The Atrix's main advantage was its incredible specs, but its specs is exceed by the S II. The only advantage the Atrix has is slightly higher resolution and a more powerful battery.
So overall, with better XDA support and higher specs, it seems like the S II is a no brainer.
I would choose Atrix for its shape, and higher resolution.Yet Galaxy S II has better hardware, depends on what you care.
Samsung all the way. Larger screen and Samsung quality. Also no Blur.
I have to go with other people here, SGS2.... and i'm putting my money where my mouth is by finaly replacing my HD2 with one.
Seriously, the Atrix laptop dock is a gimmick in my opinion. If you are going to carry that around you may as well carry your laptop!
Whichever you choose, I want to let it be known that I'm trolling for your abandoned heroes. I wish to run experiments on them.

Go with the Samsung Galaxy S II -- I am looking to replace my Samsung Captivate with this one too.
Had used a few Motorola phonse in the past and absolutely hate them -- bad quality phones.
Painful experiments!
I'd like to try my hand at Modding, and I'm dependant on my own hero.

You act like those are slight advantages. It's not a slightly bigger battery. It's like factorably bigger than the GS2's.
And the screen resolution is a huge deal. GS2 is using a big screen with a WVGA resolution. Not only is the resolution on the Atrix better, but it has a good screen size with much better pixel density. Aside from perhaps color saturation, everything will look better and crisper on the Atrix display.
HTC has the inspire 4G on AT&T and the display resolution/pixel density is outright terrible compared to the Atrix when held side by side. Not even close to being comparable and I doubt that resolution on even a sAMOLED II panel will be good enough to best it.
The bootloader is the biggest issue. None of the other hardware differences are that big of a deal that they should sway you from one phone or another, IMO.
Both TouchWiz and Blur are worse than Sense, but Moto almost always has much better widgets than Samsung and their Exchange Client and other Value-Adds are typically better. Samsung tends to have better Social Network integration in TouchWiz, though.
But if you want to MOD, then yes... The bootloader will be the issue and the GS2 may be the clear winner.
Also, maybe it's just me but Motorola devices typically function better as actual phones than Samsung devices...
Coming here, where ROMS and Apps are thought up and developed, and asking about a phone with a locked Bootloader(basically a huge "F**K YOU" to everyone here) is not going to get you an objective answer. May as well go and ask about EQ2 on the WoW Forums.

Blur isn't bad. You don't have to use it you know. If you add a new launcher, you don't even notice it anywhere else.
Atrix has a great screen. Captivate screen < Atrix screen
Battery life on my Atrix is AMAZING! Ear piece is the loudest and clearest i've ever had on a phone. It's fast!, Great phone, but so much hate for moto from people these days.

Anyway, picked up my SGS2 last night from Phones4U in Slough. Very impressive bit of technology but it does feel very cheap and the back battery cover is terrible! (it doesn't pop off but it does feel like it came from a pound shop)
The screen..... well....
My GF has an Omnia 7 running an AMOLED screen and to be honest, we put all the brightness up on both screens and then opened the BBC website and, if I'm honest, we couldn't see much diference. The Yellow was defo better on the SGS2 but then the purples were brighter on hers! I can only hope the "super" part of my screen applies to the battery usage as it doesn't appear any diferent..... not that thats a bad thing, the AMOLED on the O7 is excellent.
The phone is stunningly fast though, even when looking at the 3d menu's in SPB Shell 3D and spinning its world location globe in 3d.
I just wanted to get an opinion before i jump and get a new phone. I like both the galaxy s 2 and the htc sensation (now that it will be coming to Bell Mobility meaning AT&T HSPA Bands). I'm just want to know the positives and negatives of each device. I want honest opinions.
I'd pick the SGSII. I think it'll have better capabilities in the future when it comes to modding.

From my play time with a Sensation, there is no other choice. . It's that good. Sense 3.0 is just superb. And the build quality, style and design of the Sensation pushes it over the top. The SGS2 may be a nice phone, but it just can't even approach the Sensation...in my opinion.
Another great point.
I had the same problem choosing between these two phones. My previous HTC phones had superb build quality and I still think HTC makes incredible devices but after reading some reviews I decided on the Galaxy S II. The screen is undeniably amazing, and even though it has a slightly lower resolution it honestly doesn't matter, the display is that good. Its very fast, thin, and has surprisingly good build quality for a Samsung phone (no creaks at all, like my Desire Z). I haven't been able to slow it down yet, and that's a first for any android phone I have had or tried. At the time hearing about the locked bootloader on the Sensation defiantly made a difference for me coming from the **** that was the Atrix, but HTC has resolved this issue now (I think). As far as Sense 3.0 or TouchWiz 4.0 go I await the day CM7 nighties start releasing so I dont have to deal with stupid manufacturer "improvements" to android. You will have to make the decision yourself, but I can tell you for sure if you get the Galaxy S II you wont be disappointed.

I think Samsung Galaxy S II
SII - Brilliant screen and no doubt about that, very good performance and pretty good battery life too. GPS problems seems to be exist in this one too, but when is comes to performance, no compromises, always a better phone, unless you are hooked up to HTC Sense UI
HTC Sensation - super LCD lacks that brilliance that samsung AMOLED holds, but still read that pretty good battery life with idle state, and comfortably survive for 2 days. HTC Sense UI with latest changes does have some lag in the phone, so if you are looking at absolute performance, this might not be the phone.
I totally agree witg ajvasudhar.
The big problem is that Touchwiz is no where near the beauty of Sense UI.
...I wonder if (S*ns* porting to SII)...naaahhh...forget it...
HTC off caurse does not have concurrents. this is true
SGS II is better
Difficult choice, indeed, and I am standing in front of the exactly same dilema... I really dont like TouchWiz, and I really love HTC Sense... but I've read HTC Sense has some issues with smoothnes... I'd say its even here.
Display on SGSII is SAMOLED+, that would be +1 for me, however for 4.3inches, I am afraid that same resolution as on 3.7 inches amoled screen wont look that sharp. HTC on other hand has qHD resolution, but only S-LCD screen, which is not bad, but not as bright as Amoled(yea, I am very afraid of the 'gray' black on S-LCD). its still even fight on this point
Design of SGSII is weird, I dont like it, its like a brick, square, huge. On other hand, HTC came with very interresting design, I like the screen design, its very original. This round owns HTC.
Quality of materials, here again, just as with SGS I, SGSII has been made out of cheap looking plastics, and I dont like it. I have also heard that after two weeks of use, the back cover is making weird noise... on other hand, HTC has again aluminium unibody, where you put the phone into this body. GREAT... +1 for HTC.
Controls, I dont like the Samsung way of doing it, on/off button on side, three buttons, pretty far from each other... its my own opinion, I dont like it, but I guess I'd get used to that(but I still prefer unlocking phone from top) HTC has keys I am used to, but those are again sensors only, not real buttons.. I dont like this, so here its SGSII who takes point, where at least the home button is real +1
HW and performance, so far what I've seen benchmarks(I know its not perfectly accurate) and other stuff, SGSII is way better, it may be caused by SENSE, which is eating really a lot of performance, and may get improved by custom roms, but here I have to give points to SGSII, which has even more memory So far we have it 2:2 for each device
Now, I got into point, that no other things makes any difference for me... each phones have their own issues, SGS is loosing GPS signal, HTC is loosing WiFi and BT while not holding properly. I have also heard that first bunch of HTC's had issue with pocket lint/dust getting under the screen, however HTC is solving this responsibly and fixing the phones straight away.
So, if you ask me, for me its gonna be the one that goes cheaper... so far I can get Sensation for cca 220eur and SGSII for 300eur(both with 18months contract, which I'd take anyways), which makes HTC the winner, just because of the pricing.
Dont take this as a guide, this is bunch of my own opinions and preferences, why I chose HTC over Samsung, you might have different preferences, and performance could be far more important for you than look of the phone as for me, so still this is your choice... If you have chance, get into store and let them borrow you both working phones, put them next to each other and play with them for a moment, then you'll see which one is your champion
I read tons of reviews and comparison videos and went with the SGSII. The SGSII came out on top in most reviews. Loving mine!
So I'm getting a new phone, and I've been looking around at tmobile phones, and this phone seems pretty amazing. Price isn't bad, either. I'm coming from a Cliq 2, which had very little dev support, and this seems like its got tons. However, after reading a little on this forum, it seems like some members don't like this phone.
Now, I'm not looking for a top of the line smart phone, although the HTC Amaze has crossed my mind, but this phone seems to have tons of good things going for it, with its cameras, display, and processor.
So, would any of you recommend this phone? Or should I look at other choices?
Thanks!
Sent from my MB611 using Tapatalk
Stock ROM is junk, I had reboots, and wifi would connect, but won't actually work.
Good news is, it's super easy to flash a new ROM, I use Weapon, and it's perfect.
So with the new ROM, you get a decent display, clear call quality, fast, loud speakerphone, and good batt. life.
So if the price is right, I'd buy it.
There is absolutely no reason to buy this phone today. Things like the Samsung Galaxy S2, the Galaxy Nexus, and whatever it is HTC is pushing these days (I don't keep up with Sense phones) are most assuredly going to be better. The G2X was outstanding in its day, but that day has past.
To be more specific, the 1 Ghz processor is underpowered, 1.2 and 1.5 are the norm now. RAM is even worse; the 512 of the G2X is pitiful compared to the gigabyte that is standard on newer devices. Tegra 2 is still a very good GPU, but with the weaknesses of CPU and RAM it's just not worth it.
As far as camera and display, both are unremarkable. The display is LCD instead of the LED that phones normally have; this results in duller colors and blacks that aren't very dark. However, the screen is perfectly visible in any level of daylight, so make of that what you will. I've never ran any tests, but the camera strikes me as average. Nothing particularly special about it.
As far as problems go, while this phone was riddled with them on release pretty much all of them have been fixed by either LG or the devs. Dev support, by the way, is superb. Nothing lacking on that front.
I say you already made your mind up on getting the g2x if its features are already pulling you in. No matter how many ppl say yes or no believe what you want out of the phone first. I love my g2x even with minimal screen bleed and occasional reboot its the best phone I've had yet.

Oh, I'll be ready for anything to flash ROMs, the Cliq2 wasn't the easiest phone to do so on. But alright, that's good to hear. Yeah, it'll be $100 for the upgrade, so I think it'll be worth it

Amaze is cool but the G2x is the best value for a high-end smartphone on any carrier. I hear people constantly complaining about 1Ghz processors instead of 1.2Ghz or 1.5Ghz. This is baseless; it all comes down to performance. Not as if benchmarks are any better of an indication, but overclocked at 1.55Ghz, I get 5000+. Absolutely killer. Over 100 FPS in Quadrant.
Also, IPS display may have some light bleed (mine has ZERO) but the viewing angle and brightness are superb. It's no SAMOLED but still, looks beautiful. A slew of awesome ROMs coupled with outstanding build quality. It's a fantastic device.
The only thing keeping me from recommending this 100%: LG support is absolutely garbage. Be prepared for little attention for your baby G2x if you get one. LG flatout denies many issues and fails to provide support for consumers and developers.
I've also owned a Sensation, MT4G Slide, and MT4G (most recently) and the G2x is hands down the boss. I say get it. Or buy mine so I can get a G-Slate.

Yeah, from what I've read processor speed won't make too much of a difference with overclocking capabilities.
I think I've officially been sold on this phone, especially for this price and from what everyone is saying!
Another vote for "good value for the price" if price is a major consideration. If you're going to be flashing ROMs, I'm almost certain you can find something stable that will work properly for your phone. Enjoy!
The g2x is a great phone for the money right now. It performs as well as just about any other phone right now and has a ton of great features. It's no longer top dog, but it's not really surpassed by any other phone by a significant amount.
Plus they're just about free at target with 2yr upgrade right now. Can't beat that.

The only thing I'd watch out with the Amaze is its battery life. From the reviews, it sounded pretty bad. The Galaxy SII would be a better choice, but I hate how the AMOLED screen looks (It's bright, vibrant, but has a strong color shift). G2x's color is more comfortable to my eyes (pure personal preference here).
For the price, g2x is great

My fiance has the Amaze, and while she seems to love it, she HATES the battery life. It's pretty abysmal. She's a very light user and she's charging it every day, minimum, even when it's just sitting on the counter not being used. If she does decide to use it the battery life dips down to 2-6 hours at absolute best even with 2G/low brightness/etc etc. It's a very battery hungry phone and there is absolutely no way to get S-OFF on it atm, which for me is a complete turn off for an HTC device.
Also, her phone loses signal in a lot more places than I do.

Alright, I'll be sure to keep that in mind. I think I'll be getting this phone though, you all have made it seem great haha.
But how is the radio in this phone? Because like I said earlier, my brother has a G2 and would get full bars in places where I would have no service

With my Sensation, I'd get one bar service and sometimes 3G at my house; I get three bars + 3G minimum with this one. Much better.

I'll throw my opinion out there. For a T-Mobile phone (not counting the $750 GSM galaxy nexus, only phones you can get through T-Mobile) this phone might take a back seat to the amaze (I have no experience with that one, so couldn't say). But I've had both the sensation and sgs2 and g2x beats them both performance wise. Sgs2 did have the best battery life though.
Of course there's also the size issue, I really don't like my phone being bigger than a 4inch, yet it seems like all the manufacturers are forgetting about people like me, I mean come on if I wanted a tablet I'd buy a tablet!

So the Galaxy S III has been unveiled.
My PRO's= Screen Resolution, processor, GPU, RAM, memory.
My CON's= Screen type (SAMOLED -_-)
I can't really think of anything else. Comment on your pro's and con's if you would like!
Pros
1. Its Samsung
2. The screen. Any HD screen is better than our cappys lol and I like black being black
3. MicroSD and Removable battery
4. Multitasking = WOW
5. Embrace of NFC
Cons
1. $$$$$ for international version

Oh and if you guys are going to purchase this beast, what color would you choose:
Marble** white or pebble blue?
And if you're going for a case or leave it as is?

Yeah. Its amazing. I can't believe the mass amounts of people that say its ugly, garbage, the same.
Granted that 2GHz quad core A-15 would've been worth waiting long but its nice.
HD SAmoled.
Up to 64GB plus up to 64GB card. 2100MAH battery
So well integrated and intuitive.
I hope to obtain one in the near future.

Guys, I read some comments on another site that US/Canadian would have a lower CPU to accommodate LTE? I didn't understand that, could someone clarify
I didn't use my upgrade on the SII so I'll be planning on picking this one up in the Pebble Blue. I just can't do white devices. Maybe it reminds me of my childhood with all the Beige/White systems.
Performance seems to be pretty good, a good setup from my Captivate so I am all for that.
So while I would have loved a A15 quad or even better GPU, well, we always want more so I think I will be happy with it. It does not seem as the Nvidia thing is catching up so I hope the whole Tegra exclusive crap is over otherwise, having a super GPU when the games are getting better features only for Tegra wont help me much.
Not sure why someone cannot be happy with the screen. Black is black and everything is punchy. I have a HD projector calibrated so I can be picky but I love Samsung screens.
Now the Q is..how long before stupid ATT brings it here.
USA releases are slotted for June. More info, as always, pending carrier announcements. Those will probably come when their world tour stops off in NYC, from what I'd guess.
man I am way behind
How can one hate that curved metal finish on the side. It's very sexy.
The whole camera-design thing: who actually looks at their camera lens on a daily basis? Its always behind the phone where you'll rarely ever see it. People these days...

Seriously when I read people cons...being about looks I feel the same way...come on now.
Definitely looking forward to upgrade.
There's been speculation that to accommodate LTE in the North American release, they might go with an S4 instead of the Exynos, which is also an excellent processor (though I would have liked to experience the Exynos).
Still, it's almost time to upgrade for me. It'll be nice to experience LTE.

I'm totally in love with this beast. Its hardware and features are awesome.
As soon as I could get one, my beloved Cappy could then take a step back and be my backup
My Captivate has served me well. It has never failed me. Hate to retire it, but I want the GS3.

I agree. Never had a phone that lasted this long without me wanting to upgrade..and the way new Roms and OCing kept extending its life its pretty awesome.
Was anxiously awaiting this thing since even though my cappy is beyond amazing, it's begun to feel its age a bit and I'm totally looking forward to a new phone.
I am totally not disappointed and can't wait to finally get my upgrade when it comes out.
The screen is awesome, and since I never got to see super amoled + I can't say I'm going to miss it. I just hope the GS3 is anywhere near as good to me as my cappy has been - although I'm going to miss the build of this phone cause it was awesome.
I love the specs...but I'm a tad disappointed by its aesthetics... I mean it looks like a cheaper quality phone with all that plastic...on the other hand HTC one x looks like sex
Same here didn't use my upgrade yet but will wait to see what the US versions specs are. Might be changing from AT&T to Sprint soon as wife contract is up.
I was really disappointed with the Galaxy S3. I will most likely be upgrading to the HTC One X. In almost every situation the One X beats or is a tie with the S3.
Screen: Most reviews say that the One X has a better screen then the Galaxy Nexus, so I believe that with the S3 having essentially the same screen as the nexus the One X's will be better.
Processor/SOC: The S3 will likely have an S4 in Canada so in that case it is a tie. If the S3 does have the quad core in Canada it will probably not be that noticeable of a difference.
Software: Both will likely have great Rom development, but in a worst case scenario, I can live with Sense 4.0, I cannot live with that hideous touchwiz.
Hardware: (IMO) The One X is gorgeous. The S3 is meh. Also, the S3 has a menu button, what were you thinking Samsung! I don't care about a removable battery or sd card slot.
Camera: I'm guessing it will be about the same (Don't care much about camera).
I'm looking for a phone with a really good camera, pretty fast all around(smooth), and get pretty decent battery life. I wouldn't mind getting a spare battery. But days I work I'm away from a charger for 14 hours, so I need it to last more than 10 hours. And days I work I'm not constantly on it, just my 4 10 minute breaks and 30 minute lunch. I've been reading on the Galaxy s3 and it seems to be the best phone coming out right now to verizon. The rezound is also really good and takes pretty good pics. I have a 6 month old son, and I always have my phone and not a camera, so its easier to take videos and pics of him with my phone. That's why I'd like a decent camera. What would ya'll recommend? thanks.
I do agree that the S3 is one of the best devices coming out. currently i am using the samsung infuse on att, and want to upgrade to the gs3 one i am able to. I personally would get the s3 given your two choices. the s3 will be a flagship device and will be supported longer. the s3 also has microSD card expansion so you can hold more videos and photos of your baby
have you considered the droid razr maxx? it has a 3300 mAh battery{non removable unfortunately}, so battey life will be excellent and it has an 8 mp camera. its also rated number 1 on consumer reports for verizon smartphones. im not on verizon but i stay up to date on the top phones. it all depends on which manufacturer you go with.
hope this helps.
Rezound Great Camera
I have the Rezound and I can tell you that it takes the best pictures of any phone i have seen. My brother has the Razr, and my friend the Nexus, and both are beyond impressed with the quality images i get with my phone. I am in the market for a phone for my wife, and the camera is the one thing that might keep me away from the GS3. I understand it has the same camera as the S2, and if that's the case then it will be another Rezound for my wife without hesitation. I don't have a single complaint about the Rezound. Batteries could always be better, but with the leaked ICS my battery life has near doubled. As long as you don't keep screen at full brightness and stream music all day, the battery in the Rezound will last you fine. It's damn near perfect.
samsung galaxy SIII unquestionably
Still Diggin the Rezound.

Obviously it isn't unquestionably, or there wouldn't be a forum. I would like to hear why you think it is such a great phone. What are it's real advantages here in the US.
I like the larger battery in the S3, but with all the issues regarding the Samsung radios (Galaxy Nexus) it makes me hesitate. Also Samsung has not been known for their cameras. Add to that the fact that they used an old-school pentile screen and have a big strange hardware button, it's just doesn't scream greatness.
I'm trying to want the S3, but i keep talking myself out of it. And if they drop the price on the Rezound back to $50 or even $100, why would you pay $200 more for what is basically the same specs?
+ 1 , Rageboardr ...
Your speech is perfect and I totally agree.
They yet haven't invented the "unquestionably" phone...
I think the htc ONE X has also a very good camera !

With the Rezound i know it is a great phone. It is tried and tested. It already has a 1.5 dual core processor. Its HD screen is amazing. It has the best pixel density of any phone that I am aware of currently in production. Stupid GS3 went with a pentile matrix, a step back from the nexus. It has terrific reception, it destroys the Razr and Nexus on road trips. I almost never lost a signal from SC to PA through the mountains. The camera on the Rezound is one of the best i have seen in a phone. Again it takes way better pics than the Razr or Nexus. I am also a big fan of HTC's Sense. They have the best widgets. I have no experience with touchwiz, but i know i don't like Blur. But any launcher can fix that. The Rezound has a nice quality build, and won't slip out of hand. Not slick plastic like the S3.
Lastly the Rezound fits comfortably in the hand. It could loose a little weight around the middle, but it can be easily operated with one hand. I prefer a little girth because I am rather harsh on a phone, and the thinness of the Razr worries me. My friend with the Nexus has a son who just sat on his Razr in his back pocket and crushed it. If i think of any other highlights i will add later.
I'd get the s3,the camera is awesome.

I understand that it is the same camera that was on the S2. Just has newer software, which can be downloaded via ROM I imagine. The Rezound also has dual LED flash.
Also the GS3 front camera takes a step down from its predecessor. 1.2 vs 2.0
Have you read somewhere that the camera in the S3 is awesome, or are you just assuming.

Same specs? no....
Snapdragon S4 Krait with Adreno 225 GPU >>>>>>>>>> S3 with Adreno 220 GPU which currently struggles to push a screen with that resolution consistantly smooth
I much rather have a Super Amoled HD than a SLD that Rezound has (poor contrast imo and viewing angles), if it was SLCD2 like One X id be a different story
sense 4 > touchwiz 5 > sense 3.6 (rezound)
GS3 will have 2GB RAM and will surely get Jellybean which i highly doubt Rezound will get anything beyond ICS.
my thoughts
edit: BtW, SGS3 has a 1.9mp FFC, not 1.2
I did say basically the same specs, which means not exactly.
I have seen no problem from my S3 processor pushing my screen smoothly. Games like Shadowgun, and Dead Space play without any hiccups. Aside from a "smoother screen," what else does the better processor bring? Are they games or apps that will benifit?
I am sure the S4 is better than the S3, but both are pushing 1.5 ghz, so it sounds like a slight improvement. And with that improvement in processor, they skipped on the SAMOLED+ that was present on the Nexus. So a better processor with a weaker screen. It's a trade off to be sure.
I do wish the screen on the Rezound was brighter in the sun, but that seems like a problem for most phones. Even Samoled, though they say it is better. I still had a hard time with the Nexus in the sun.
The only real substantial advantage i see is the 2G Ram. I don't know what i need that much RAM for, but i'm sure i could find something to do with it.
I would like to see JellyBean on my phone, but I will likely root and ROM after the year warranty runs out, so i don't see that as being much of a deciding factor. It will release with ICS, which i already have.
I am only playing Devils Advocate, because like i said, I do want to want this phone. Thanks for all the input.

That does sound like a fine camera. I am at least pretty sure that I will not be taking a step back from my current camera.
Now lets just hope that they figured out the issues with the radios on the Nexus, and this phone wont have a repeat of the same problems.

Looks to me that you already have your mind made up since what im seeing here is attempts to invalidate or brush off any advantage the SGS3 has over the rezound to convince yourself that the rezound is worth getting.
If you prefer the Rezound then by all means, enjoy it to the fullest
btw: galaxy nexus has samoled hd pentile, same as the sgs3 but .01 inch smaller.
I am not trying to convince myself to buy a Rezound, I am trying to convince myself to buy a Galaxy S3.
I know the Rezound is worth getting since i already have it, and it rocks. No one will be disappointed if they decide to get it. But it is a 6-7 month old phone.
I plan to use my wife's upgrade, and bequeath my Rezound to her, because she really needs a better camera on her phone. I don't want to use her upgrade to get another Rezound because, well, then i don't get a new phone. But i have to use her upgrade before Unlimited data expires, so unless miracles happen and Verizon decides against dumping the unlimited thing, then the GS3 is the only option.
I guess i just expected better arguments from a newer flagship phone. Something defining. Something I couldn't live without, and could say, look how ridiculously awesome this is. But I will buy it and try it, and exchange it if i don't like it.
I appreciate all the input.
