A. Is it possible to elongate the antenna inside the gtab? (like running the wire around the perimeter of the tab maybe?)
B. If done, would this help with signal quality, or would code pertaining to the signal transmittance power need to be changed/increased?
Just curious if anyone has looked into this and if they had had any success, thanks!

there are a few antenna shown in the service manual. since it said that the internal antenna is located at the bottom of the phone near the usb, could the port you are referred to is also near that area? could you be a little more sure before i attempt to open up my phone to look for it? or rather i just need to poke a hole...but i need to know where to poke it. normally, ive always found the external port near the camera...should i try that? thanks much!

Hi,
After a water damage I opened my Nexus S [GT-i9020T] and cleaned everything with eletric contact cleaner. Everything is working fine, except for no signal, but the operator name (from SIM) appears in the screen.
I tried with Gingerbread and now with Crossbone 0.2.5, wifi works perfectly.
I cleaned the antenna gold points too, anybody can help to find where could be the problem or sugest replacement parts and where to find?
Thanks a lot,
ticofortes
Sounds like your radio might of gotten damaged also. Try to find stock Odin images for your device and try re-flashing it.

You know those gold pins are nfc right? Radio is down the right side of phone under case(looking at the screen)

mabry, I tried stock image (android.clients.google.com/packages/ota/google_crespo/1ada25375426.signed-soju-ota-189904.1ada2537.zip) and radio still not working.
DarkhShadow, please take a look at the attached image there are some contact points what i think is for radio antena, can you confirm that?
So I think my radio is damage, please where is it located? Where can I buy replacement parts or any alternative method to repair it?
Thanks all!

Looks like you got you picture from the above link, I would take apart to the point I am confident I can put it back together and use warm air blowing over it to dry it out over a day or so.
Contact cleaner may get most of the water out but not all of it. that is what I would do if I was in your position, before buying new parts for it.
Yes Gazoo222, I used this site.
I will try this drying procedure and come back in two days.
Thanks!
Just in case if it don't work, do you think the problem is in SIM card board?
(h t t p : / / guide-images.ifixit.net/igi/fDHYCvcIUepftlOQ.medium)
Or the antenna can be damaged with water too?
Is there any way to diagnose it better?
Thanks all!

they could be, but I think the radio is on the other side because if I cover it with my hand my wifi and phone signal drop a fair bit
You could try asking Adam outlet, ik he's probably poked around Nexus S hardware a fair bit

The antenna uses current and has very little resistance, so yes if it shorts out it could cause damage
Didn't work guys, I'll buy the sim board (link bellow) and replace it, what do you think? Tks!

Alright, I own a Samsung Continuum. The problem I am having, that I need help resolving, is that the Antenna port (little gold colored metal thing, that external antenna' can be inserted in), located under the battery of my phone, is completely gone and the area where it was is scratched up. The connection to my internal antenna is gone and my signal is gone.
I DO NOT, want to buy a part. I'd rather rig it if I can.
I DO have access to a LARGE amount of tools, including a soldering gun. I have the tools available to me, to fix a phone.
With the port gone, I was wondering.. Is there a place on my phone, where I can reconnect the internal antenna and get it working again? I have the time and patience to try anything. I do not care about any risk that this has to my phone, if I can't get it working, I don't have a use for it.
And how does this port work by the way? Whats it connecting the internal antenna to?
Thanks in advance.
Hi everyone pretty new to the Chinese phones and apologies if this has been done before (i cant find it) but i have a JIAYU G4 youth which is running the latest custom rom off needrom.com (JY-G4 Yabe V7.0.2) this is the 3rd rom i have flashed and each one the GPS is very slow or does not work at all and you can not get a fix. The only way i can get it to pick up satalites is to use the engineer mode on mobille uncle tools which is quite long winded.
Ok so to my question "can the gps be improved by some sort of configuration?" I notice in the root of the sd card is a gps config file does this need altering somehow when used in UK?. Any help would be much appreciated as other than this it is a great phone.
The problem is rather the antenna in the back of the device when the device screen up and metallic body, the blocked antenna. GPS works well when the device display down.
But there are some guides on how to improve GPS software (according to me do not work):

This is more than only a hardware (antenna) problem. I've noticed that when I connect an external BT mouse that the mouse itselfs gets a "spot on" fix, but the phone is struggling to keep this fix.
By editing the build.prop and disable JIT the phone has a much better GPS fix.
GPS fix issue in Jiayu G4
Finally the issue is solved by 100%
The problem is rather the antenna in the back of the device .
The PCB has contacts for GPS antenna , the 1st & 3rd are the ground & the middle i.e 2nd is the main antenna.
I just skipped 1 & 3 contact by putting insulating tape between contact & the antenna.
Only 2nd point is touching the antenna .
just that's all.
Now my phone fixes GPS with in a minute in cold start.
I tried with most of the available ROM.
Pls note : If you are not a technical person do not open.
refer to some mobile repair person .
soon release the photos of the same.

Hi Pankaj459,
I tried the software fixes, which got me a quicker fix. Unfortunately the fix is not very accurate.
Very often the GPS loses its way and I find myself about 100yards beside the road or in a nearby street.
I opened up my G4A and noticed that the 3rd pole had already been isolated with black tape. I did also isolate the left pole. Nevertheless, did not see any difference.
The fix took just as long/ short. Accuracy was just as dismal.
Is there anything else I can do? Would it actually help if I modded some copper wire to the GPS contacts, or would that not solve the issue?
Thanks in advance for your help.

So do you think the solution has to do with putting aluminium paper in the antenna? I have seen that fix in THL and it seems to fix the accuracy, maybe it is the solution.
Would anybody share a little tutorial on how to do it?

Hi
You should try to follow this step by step tutorial about configuring GPS + antenna mod , it reaches up to two meters accuracy in motion in a Jiayu G4T :victory: :victory:
A version in Spanish is available as well --> Versión en español :highfive:
Hi, I've got an issue with my Mi5S Plus phone.
It finds only 4-5 sattelites via GPS while other phone finds 21.
Bluetooth works within 2-3 meters only.
Wifi 2.4 Hz works in 5-6 meters max and shows low signal strength.
Meanwhile Wifi 5 Hz works pretty well.
LTE works ok.
It's chinese phone with Global ROM 9.6.2.0 installed.
Mac adress in about phone is not empty.
Is that hardware or software issue?
Looks like antena issue but where is it and where are antena connectors in Mi5S Plus?
Will flash of ROM help? (I did not try it yet)
Any help is highly appreciated! I face such issue for the first time and searching the internet does not help.
open the phone, the antenna for anything except cellular are the tiny pogo connector that should be in contact with the respective pads in the back case...
clean the back case's pad for the respective contact points and try it again...
@dogrishin were you able to fix it?

Thank you Crescendo again! I finally succeeded to fix it.
Chinese seller broke connector in the left upper corner of PCB when he disassembled phone to flash Global ROM via ETL loader I suppose.
I had to solder another connector and so now it's finally working as it should: Wifi 2.4, bluetooth, GPS signals are strong.
So it was 100% hardware issue, not related to software.
For other guys with same issue I advice to disassemble according to video on YouTube:
"Как разобрать Xiaomi Mi5s Plus (2016070) Разборка и ремонт"
And if you have same issue, bring it to repairman so he will solder you another connector fast and cheap.

thanks for the clear photo & pinpoint accuracy.
I can only guess the connectors coz they're plenty on top part of the phone... [emoji38]
Mine's not broken but the GPS (only the GPS) signal is weak... weaker than my wife's, same model same configs.
it all happened after I opened the phone for cleaning..., maybe the pin isn't making good contact with the antenna, I'll reopen it tom & try to bend it forward carefully...
again thanks for the clear explanation & photo...
glad it's all ok for you...

@dogrishin is it possible to repost the photos of the connector that you have fixed, they're gone from tinypic (perhaps upload to imgur or somewhere)
@Crescendo Xenomorph have you figured out which connector specifically is the GPS antenna?
I have the same problem after I had to disconnect and re-connect the battery. I haven't broken any pins or replaced anything in the phone but after putting it back together the GPS signal is insanely weak. Takes forever for a position fix and keeps losing it after. Also Wi-Fi is dead one wall away from the router. I've carefully bent all the pins a bit towards the back-case today and had no great improvement.
I think it's the second one from the top right, coz I broke mine & the wifi is gone...
Had to get it replaced to makewifi work again, but my take is usually just fix all connectors inside since I can't be sure....
@kaboom83 sorry for sooo late reply, but I could not find original photos....so now I just accidentally have found them and reuploaded to imgur. Here they are
