[Q] Broke my cell phones antenna. - General Questions and Answers

Alright, I own a Samsung Continuum. The problem I am having, that I need help resolving, is that the Antenna port (little gold colored metal thing, that external antenna' can be inserted in), located under the battery of my phone, is completely gone and the area where it was is scratched up. The connection to my internal antenna is gone and my signal is gone.
I DO NOT, want to buy a part. I'd rather rig it if I can.
I DO have access to a LARGE amount of tools, including a soldering gun. I have the tools available to me, to fix a phone.
With the port gone, I was wondering.. Is there a place on my phone, where I can reconnect the internal antenna and get it working again? I have the time and patience to try anything. I do not care about any risk that this has to my phone, if I can't get it working, I don't have a use for it.
And how does this port work by the way? Whats it connecting the internal antenna to?
Thanks in advance.

external antenna

can anone help me locate the external antenna port for the raphael (htc fuze). I had the service manual, but i have no idea where the antenna is located. I know that it does have one eventhough its not shown. i have sevral htc devices, where i had to poked a hole thru the back cover of my touch dual in ordr to see the antenna! your help is aprreciated, because i live in area, that without hooking up to external antenna, i will not get any reception! thanks in advance.
The Antenna Port is under the Battery Cover of the Raphael, but hidden with stickers.
Sorry dont found any good pictures of the back so i dont give you the exactly position
there are a few antenna shown in the service manual. since it said that the internal antenna is located at the bottom of the phone near the usb, could the port you are referred to is also near that area? could you be a little more sure before i attempt to open up my phone to look for it? or rather i just need to poke a hole...but i need to know where to poke it. normally, ive always found the external port near the camera...should i try that? thanks much!

Have you considered a repeater antenna? I use one here at my house because I can't get reception inside. Works with all the phones in the area without having to directly connect anything.
can u recommend a repeater that you are talking about! i hvae never use one before, thnank you

[Q] HTC Incredible digitizer dead at board - Repurpose possible?

I was given an HTC Incredible the other day, and I quickly found out that the digitizer was non-functional, so I took it apart and found obvious liquid damage inside. Several areas of the board were crusted over with what I assume to be residue from the evaporated liquid. I remained hopeful that the only problem was a dead digitizer, but after carefully cleaning up the board, I noticed some scorched resistors near the digitizer's ribbon connector on the motherboard. On the off-chance that I misdiagnosed the cause of the dead touchscreen, I restored it to factory via recovery, but as I expected, still no go, of course.
It's frustrating, because the device is in beautiful shape in every other way. Screen looks great, not a single scratch on the phone itself, it boots into recovery perfectly as well as into Android.
I fully realize that I will never have this phone working as it was originally intended without swapping out the board, which I don't really plan on doing. I also have no interest in using this as a phone. I'd like to see this phone repurposed as a headless Linux box on my home WLAN. With its specs, it should be able to run Debian and Asterisk quite well (works great on my Seagate DockStar with 128MB RAM/700MHz ARM5-based SoC.) I just hate to see an otherwise perfectly good embedded computer go to waste because I can't enable debugging via the touchscreen.
Is it possible to use a breakout board attached to the microUSB connector to utilize any sort of external input so that I could jump into the phone and turn on debugging/root the device? Or would that require HID drivers to be installed on the device beforehand?
Another idea that I've considered is possibly reflashing it with a rooted ROM or maybe changing some settings on it via CDMA Workshop, I would still need to get into mode for that by pressing ##3424#, right? Argh. Is there another way?
Do either of these options sound viable? Any other suggestions? It should go without saying that I'm well aware that this could be a brick already, but it just seems as though there must be SOMETHING that can be done to at least give me rooted ADB access in the future.
Thanks in advance!
I'm guessing I'm out of luck? Either way, it's not a big deal. It's not as though it cost me anything, but it'd be nice to put it to work in some way. As a Linux geek, there's always a nagging feeling I get when I see a Linux-based device sitting in the corner being under- or non-utilized. Especially embedded.

[ FEITENG H9500 ] Known issues and fixes

Ok.. i see many people on this forum asking questions about this device.. the truth is this device is designed very poorly and it even may arive at your hands defective / with some or with a lots of problems.. you can proceed by your very own responsibility. Take a look in the picture for pcb details
- to Fix about every problem you need to findout how to unscrew the back plastic case and be able to see its PCB (Printent circuit Board) - Its pretty easy, just remove the little screws and give a presure at the clips of the cover to be removed, don't use metal objects because you will scratch the plastic.
* WIFI / GPS very low signal
Let me begin with one problem that you have FOR SURE.. is the low wifi signal and gps.. this is due to a horible design of the antenna.. the antenna is not just horrible, but it is also causing a short circuit it self! which is the main reason why the signal is low. First you have to stop the short circuit from happning
How to fix it? Unscrew the back cover, at the top of the back cover under the flash you will see a white sticker, this is the antenna, you have to remove completely this white sticker because it can't be useful by any way. Remove every piece of it including the copper-yellow color from the inside (the place that makes the connection.
Now find a UTP cable and take a piece of a hard copper of it, remove the plastic and keep the copper wire clear, cut it and place it in the whole were previewsly was the white sticker.. you have to place it in this way so it can connect with the inside conntact with the back plastic is placed and screwed again on the phone.. there are 2 pins in that place.. the old antenna used both of this pins (that was causing short circuit) you have to use the left pin and leave the right pin completely empty.. so the right pin doesn't connect anywere, and the left pin is connected to your piece of copper wire.
Cut the copper at the same size of the top of your phone.. so you can place it horizontal ... but you can also try vertical, (use wifi analyze app from play store to see what fits better for you)
Now.. this is the same antenna for gps.. you have nothing else to do.. just install GPS Test app and go outside and test your gps..
This is what i did and im pretty happy with it, instead i used 2 pices of copper and i covered the whole top place of my phone under the camera.. but that doesn't mean is the most right way because when we dealing with antennas there are a lot of math / and calculations that have to be done to design a perfect antenna.
the wire gives really a great signal.. just in case you want to reach the extreme.. Instead of copper wire you can use thin-Copper paper. (don't use foil of aluminium is not good) and design a better antenna copying the design of an antenna from another phone (that you know it works)
* Camera autofocus doesn't work - Or camera doesn't work at all
[Don't unscrew] Frist thing you should try is remove the back cover and give a presure in the right side of your camera with your finger.. this is the place the connector is located.. and it may gets unclipped and loose the connection after a small drop or something. After that Reboot the phone.
[unscrew back] If this presure on the right doesn't fix it, then you have to unscrew the phone.. take off the camera and give it some small hits and punches.. place back the camera and see if it works.. this is due the autofocus motor got stuck.
* Mic, Speaker, USB doesn't work
[Don't unscrew] This is due the connector of the bottom part got lost its connection. remove the back cover and give presure under the place of the SIM cards, were it writes 'WCDM' and 'GSP'. press a bit those spots. reboot, if not fixed:
[unscrew back] The two bottom connectors is 1. for the touchscreen and 2 for the bottom parts.. you need to check both of those because i am not sure which is which.
* SIM1, SIM2, Microsd not working
[Don't unscrew] Try to give some press next to vol+ / vol- buttons
[unscrew back] On the top left of the PCB there are located 2 connectors, 1 is for the front camera, and 2 is for the SIM/SD parts.. the last connector to the side of vol buttons is the connector you have to check and press to make sure is connected ok.
* Touchscreen doesn't work
[Don't unscrew] Give presure right under the headphones jack
[unscrew back] This is were it is located.
Charging Problem
I would like to add the problem with charging the batteries.
I got a new H9500, with two batteries. When i try to charge it with the adapter that came with it, the phone shows the charging animation, but it never actually charges the phone.
I have the same behaviour on both batteries.
After searching for a solution i found these:
-The charger supplied is 5V, 0.5A. Some people used a 1A charger and got to the point that it actually started to charge
-ROM problem, by changing the ROM some people were able to fix the problem, since the software was not getting correct info out of the battery's third pin.
Well none of the above worked for me. I hope someone comes up with an altarnate solution.

Hello guys...
My story. Bought this phone for my son for 160 €. We found out that camera focus didn't work, so I took it apart.
The easiest way to take down plastic cover, after it was unscrewed, is to put something plastic under it in the place between both SIM cards places, and work around inner battery square.
When cover was off, I found out that camera plug (right of camera) wasn't even plugged in. It only laid on connector. Plugged it in, and shake camera a little and auto focus came alive.
After that I noticed that black cable between gsm antenna and PCB was very loose, so I had to sort this out
At the end I found out that speaker connections are very delicate and had to take plastic down again to properly connect speaker.
Now it is obvious to me, why these Chinese phones are so cheap. We have saying in our country: pay little, get little
But now everything is cool and my son is happy.... And I am happy
Hi.
I just got a Feiteng H9500. The problem is that the camera is not working and the camera application hangs then stop responding then quit. When I start the camera nothing apears on display. I've put some pressure then some hits and it started to work a while. The focus worked as well but It seems to me not to work excellent so I gave it more hits, then the camera stopped working again. I have disassembly it, i moved a bit the camera and removed and put back the connector and it came alive again for a while, but just the front camera. Then stopped again. I have noticed that the camera doesn't move up and down when I press on it, it is stopped down, if I lift it with a needle it goes up, so it's not stucked.I can't even comute between cameras because the aplication hangs then quit. ( Everything else works.
any help? Thanks.
Hi Guys,

My phone is Feiteng H9500 (HTM).
Appearance is similar FEITENG h9500, but not identical.
I'm not sure that have the same Rom, so I did not dare to flash a custom ROM.
View here:
http://www.movilesdualsim.com/forums/feiteng-h9500.166/
I cannot read Spanish or whatever it may be
There is a ROM at needrom called something like this "feiteng / htm h9500".
That sounds like the device is the same...

Thanks to your photo guide, I found courage and disassembled my HTM H9500 and DG300 phones and fixed them easily (nothing to fix really, just blow off some dusts between camera connectors and in front speaker)

You should order it by the store you got the picture of it. actually there are many stores selling parts for this phone.. almost like its branded.. unlike with other chinese phones you get a struggle to find parts, so you shouldn't face any problem to order a part.
Sound when touch on Lock Screen
hi, guys
I have FEITENG (HTM) H9500 almost a year and I am very pleased with it.
I want to change the sound of the screen when touch lockscreen, but I do not know how.
It did not sound when unlock the screen, it is the sound when you put your finger on the screen while the screen is locked.
In The system/media/ui is not, and I do not know where I'd be looking elsewhere.
Please help
No Data connection
I have had a Feiteng H9500+ for a while but recently rooted it and tried some different ROMs as well as applying a GPS fix. Somehow now my AT&T data connection is not working. The SIM settings have the data on and set to AT&T and I turned roaming on just to be sure but nothing I do can get the AT&T data to work. When I am connected to Wi-Fi it works fine. This is the only way I can get Internet.
Can anyone help me get my mobile data working again?

Which component did I destroy? (Almost all lte/hspa+/edge packets are lost.)

Hi,
I replaced the screen of my brother's Nexus 5 and even so the display works perfectly we seem to have destroyed a component.
I managed to connect the device to lte/3g/2g networks (see photo in the attachment) and sometimes a few packets are even successfully transmitted but that's an exception. Usually it is not even possible to load a website within a reasonable amount of time..
Wifi works.
Stock and cm13-caf firmware show the same behavior.
Like shown in the photo the phone is successfully connected to a 4g/lte network.
Phone calls on a 2g-network work.
Any ideas to which component we have to replace? Or any hints on what could give more information about the actual issue?
Thanks in advance!
Best Regards
Michael
Does the original screen still work? If it does, you could try moving everything back to see if that makes a difference.
When you replaced the screen, did you use a where the LCD/frame/glass were pre-assembled?
Thanks for your response.
I had two replacement displays and noticed the same issues with both of them.
(I bought a cheap one first from ebay which had multiple touch screen issues and only after that bought a way more expensive original replacement unit.)
Hmm, hopefully, it is not a motherboard issue. I would suggest trying the old screen is possible.
Another part that may affect signal would be the USB flex port cable. The other pieces that attach to the motherboard are the camera, headphone jack, USB charging/data cable, and battery.
We completely destroyed the old display unit after removing all other components except for the battery. This made it easier to bend it and remove the battery without damaging its enclosing.
I'm afraid it might be the mainboard but was hoping for a cheaper solution . The usb board is still a possibility since it routes a quite a few signals between components.... Are there some schematics of the device available online?
Haven't seen any schematics.
I guess you didn't use a hair dryer to warm the adhesive before using a spudger to remove the battery.
Examine the USB flex cable to see if there are any breaks.
If you get a phone with a smashed screen and working internals, you should be able to get the phone working.
I wasn't sure if heating up the battery is a good idea and since the old screen has already been damaged I really didn't care if it's even more so...
Heating the battery is fine as long as you keep moving the hair dryer around. The battery just needs to get warm, not hot. Also, you would heat it from the front of the phone, not the back.
I bought a Nexus 5 with a damaged display unit online and used its mainboard and antenna cables to fix my unit. Everything works again. Seems to have been something on the mainboard but I have no idea which component exactly.
Thanks for updating the thread with your solution.

Check water sticker on botton of sim slot
I had the same issue with a board i fitted to G930F bluetooth wasnt working nor wifi for no apparent reason i went through absolute everything firmware wise and system wise and couldnt figure out what the problem was i then removed everything once again looking for a loose connection it turns out the board i fitted in the top right hand corner there is a silver chip that controls wifi and bluetooth under the antenna there was a small black spot i noticed once carefully cleaned up i found the culprit there are 2 tiny fuses that blew conecting to the wifi chip this chip must also control bluetooth and NFC as that no longer works also.

I did find the solution unfortunately it requires the wifi ic chip to be replaced along with the fuses accompanied to the chip on the logic board but that means micro soldering the new chip on the other solution is change the board out when you take the antenna at the top off at the top right is the silver chip look at the circuitry and you should find a black burnt out spot also check the aerial for plastic burn where the chip sits
Thats the only solution available that ive found, not even the factory binary found the issue with the hardware though
That one chip though controls the wifi/bluetooth/android hostspot/NFC funnily enough though even though its blown visually the wifi toggles on still and will every now and then pick a network up for a second, the bluetooth toggles on but will not find any other device and other devices cannot find it either, the android hotspot turns on and broadcasts a signal but when trying to connect to it it will not connect, the NFC toggle is also set to on with the writing and toggle greyed out and NFC apps asking to turn on the chip but it cannot be toggled these are symptoms of the error,
If you would like to inspect your device,
If you dont know what your doing order a new backing i can successfully remove them without cracking them with a hair dryer, screen puller the cheap ****ty ring ones, and a guitar pick,
To start heat the backing of the phone up with hair dryer until its warm/hot next step is my secret trick to pop the watertight seal take the sim tray out and no **** blow into it youll hear the seal break get the ring puller pull it up enough to get the guitar pick in and just slide it all the way round,
Once the backs off theres 3 screws at top on antenna your gonna wanna use a phillips #00 for them once the screws are out get a pair of tweezers and slide them into the slot on the left side of the antenna where the vibrator is and pull up it will probably go flying if you use to much force but it wont break, the circuit and wifi module are now exposed on the top right diagnose the board for burnt spots if there is there, take the NFC chip off below the antenna and then the speaker to expose the charging port check the bottom right hand corner for circuitry burning also.

Hi, I have same problem for long, I tried all software options: factory reset, network reset, hard reset, wipe, firmware upgrade, downgrade,,
I can use NFC without problem but WiFI and Bluetooth are greyed out or stucking on turn on without finding anything.
Could you confirm what is the right IC for it ? I found two different IC number one on Ebay another on Part4reparirs , not sure which one is legit as both claim to be G930 wifi-IC (can't add link as I am new user)
also I would be interested to know where to buy fuse for it
I really miss my phone for few month using spare xiaomi now

Hey mate im a phone technician,
Ive got a few boards qnd broken S7 laying around ill pull one down and take a picture and label it and what not & will post it here for you,
The ic chip isn't actually a fuse its an actual chip which controls the wifi and bluetooth functions of the phone NFC is locted on 2 different part of the board aswell as wireless charging coil etc, so if that stuffed best of getting a new board, but however there is a small thermistor (ThermalTransistor) just before the wifi bluetooth ic hopefully for you its blown that and stopped current before getting to the wifi ic, i will also label this in the diagram
Hopefully in your case its the thermistor youll know anyway if it is will be blown with black or white residue everywhere and your antenna may be partially burnt out in that case, you will also need to check the daughter board for black or white burn residues also in the bottom right hand corner ill take a picture and label again also,
If i cant get the pics up straight away for you its because xda app is being a pain in the ass still and wont let me upload being playing up for a week now

Thanks for reply,, based on your explanation still other thing like antenna fuse thermistor could be damaged and ordering them one by one + shipping is not good idea.. I may better find cheap broken LCD S7 and ask technician to swap the board for me.
still looking forward to the pics... my Insta Gram acc is [at]kian.moments :fingers-crossed:
