I'm trying to find how on the Thunderbolt you disable the vibration on the lock screen--in particular, the vibration feedback when using the unlock pattern.
I know there's a haptic feedback option in Security settings on other phones, but don't see that option on the Thunderbolt under Security.

Try downloading spare parts and disabling haptic feedback there.
It's already disabled in Spare Parts. I'm running the the Perfect Storm 1.1 ROM if that makes a difference.

Don't know why the keyboard feedback controls the lockscreen BUT The way I disabled mine was Settings/Language & Keyboard/Text Input/ uncheck vibrate when typing

I don't know why either, but that fixed it for me. Thanks!

I have the phone system setting set to vibrate on incoming texts but its not working with any market sms app i try to use. I've tried go sms and pansi but neither will vibrate when i get a text even when both the system and app setting are set to always vibrate on invoking sms. I did root my phone but i don't think that has anything to do with it
I'd check your settings in sound, and sound/vibration intensity.
There are two you will want to look for:
You can find widgets to toggle through them, but I would be willing to bet that in one of the two sections you have your vibrate for notifications to be turned down, or turned off.

Is greyed out in settings, so it is showing a standard ring effect to unlock. How can I get the ripples back?

Are you running stock? a custom rom?
I'm using synergy, it just stopped working. Was working before.

go to settings --> security--->-->lock screen options and make sure ripple effect is checked..also make sure your lockscreen type is set to swipe
have you toggled it to another lock type just to see if it will revert it?
On my phone with Synergy 1.6, I either get lock screen options or I don't. If I have the lock screen menu I can always edit the ripple.
Im running synergy 1.6 and my ripple works fine...if what i told you doesnt work do a factory reset
It's worked fine until a little while ago. I've changed nothing. The box is checked, but I can't check out uncheck in options because it's greyed out. I'm going to try a reset.

If a reset doesn't work you will probably have to odin back to stock and re flash synergy
Fixed it. Thanks for input everyone. Here's what I did to fix, it's actually likely a simple bug. I changed the lockscreen wallpaper, and changed it back. That's all, and now it works again.

haha glad you got it working again!
seems it doesnt like live wallpapers, the ripple seems to only stay for stuff in the wallpaper and gallery selections
even though a ripple is already build into the lwp I have, it just ignores it and uses a lock icon

Hello,
My N5 vibrates through each notification when I drag my thumb down the few notifications when the notification tray is already pulled down. Is it possible to turn off the vibration? I don't have "Vibrate on touch" on (Settings>Sound) and even my keyboard has haptic feedback switched off.
Thanks
That's a feature from 4.3, no way of stopping unfortunately. Not without rooting and delving into the apks anyway.

Alright thanks mate
Hi guys,
Can someone please tell me how to turn off haptic feedback when typing on Nexus 5 with Android 5.
I have looked everywhere but can't find the setting.
Thanks.
Avi
Try looking in Sounds & Notifications then other sounds. You can turn off vibrate on touch in there. Or look in languages under google keyboard then preferences

In addition to this, go to sounds and notification look it up if you can see a vibration option
If you have a custom Rom or a custom kernel that has a vibration strength feature this can help by fully minimizing it to 0%
Look also on Languages and check your English Keyboard(US) or whatever keyboard you are using and turn off the vibrations option there
hope this helped
Hi,
At this point I've pretty much tried everything but haven't been able to figure this out. I am using gestures on the phone, and would like to disable the vibration that follows any gesture based action. Have any of you managed to do that?
Not using the phone at the moment

The only setting I've found is under settings/sound/more sound settings/vibrate on touch.
My phone doesn't vibrate when I use my knuckle to draw and screenshot on device... But that's the only gesture I use....
