Maybe because I have been using a Droid X and fiddling with my Daughters Droid OG for a year, I was used to losing the iPhone functionality of the earbuds button to double click to skip tracks when using a media player.
I was genuinely surprised to find out no less than to ten minutes ago that the Thunderbolt allows the same functionality! This is exciting to me at least since now I can keep my phone in my pocket and till skip tracks during my work commute.

Which earbuds are you using? The white iPhone 4 buds?

If you have not noticed the one x is not really multi tasking. My GN does multi tasking different.
When I switch to an app on the GN, it freezes that state of that app and when I switch back to it, it's where I left off.
On the one x, it refreshes the app, not freeze it.
Is this something that can hacked to get it to work like the GN?
^This. O/S is randomly killing apps. I've frozen every possible culprit, switched launchers, etc. Keeps happening. I think it's HTC's battery paranoia and they've done something in the Kernel.

Yea I think a lot of us noticed this.
My biggest issue is the message app. When I go into, all of the messages display the numbers and not the name. It'll take a good 2-3 seconds before it refreshes and replace the numbers with names. This bothers me the most!
I've noticed it as well. It's really frustrating when you're listening to a podcast and Pocket Casts just dies. It's probably something in memory management. There's a tool floating around somewhere that lets you tinker with these values, I'll have to find it.
hmm i was wondering about this too. i thought ics was supposed to have really great multitasking but my ipad does multitasking way better in this case (resuming a game exactly where you were instead of just restarting it like it does now... really it's the same as just going and launching the app again...) come to think about it, its basically the same as the old hold down home and see the recently launched apps in gingerbread. would love to see it really resume apps that were closed...
Could this be why Pandora sometimes plays first second or so and then buffering to new sing? Lol never happened before now

Yea the multitasking seems fake on this phone compared to my GSII

This. Noticed it yesterday and thought something had to be up.

Oh my god I can't stand it is especially on this xda app. I switch back to a post I'm reading and it refreshes me back to the home link, then I gotta go back and find the post again. I really hope we can stop it when root comes out or sooner. Honestly almost makes me miss my gs2

Hey, I'm loving everything about this phone besides it's audio. Like the title says, the bass is muddy and I hear random pops and cracks. Pandora also skips every third song or randomly stops regardless of data or WiFi connection. I'm coming from the Samsung captivate and haven't had these issues.
Pandora is the app I use most which is pretty frustrating. Anyone know any kind of fix or having similar problems?

same here
I am having the same exact issues. The pops and cracks are the most annoying
i don't have any of the audio issues. pandora does suck pretty badly. like you said, every third song (sometimes every other song) will just pause and 'buffer' forever.
could be a pandora/ICS issue or a pandora/one x issue, don't know which, though

I'm guessing your battery is less than 40% in which case the HOX goes in to a pretty aggressive power saving scheme.
It does? Where did you see this or get this info

It's well known if you do the advanced power menu mod you can see for yourself. For instance - the phone operates on single core only and that one core is downclocked to 1ghz max. Aggressive enough for you? Run a benchmark at 50% battery and then the same benchmark at 25% battery....
Huh that's kinda crazy to know thanks. Kinda piss me off though restricting our phones cores etc....
Beaups that's some crazy info but considering how fast this phone is, I won't worry about it. But yeah, the mem management is crazy.
I just tried out the iHeartRadio app which seems like Pandora with more features. So far the audio seems way better and it hasn't skipped or randomly paused a song yet and this is on data. This may be my new go to app.

I didn't really have any issues with the free app but upgraded to pro after reading about people using TuneIn as their alarm clock wake up.
1. Has anyone set this up as their alarm and how?
2. Anyone notice the app drawing way more battery life. Also, now when I unplug the headphones when listening, it now continues to play through the phone speakers when it used to stop playing before.

Unfortunately this is one of those strange cases when id rather have the free app vs the paid. I have the paid tune in but dont use it because the car app only uses the lite or free version. What does pro give us, favorites?
Yeah, I think I'm just going to use the lite version.

I use the pro version for hours and hours everyday with very few issues. I use it with my Bluetooth headphones though, and I don't use the alarm feature.

Can't speak for battery usage (still running in my HOX) but just figured out the alarm setting - it's far from obvious!
When viewing a station full screen, swiping toggles through a carousel of pages: the options page with alarm & sleep timer is 2 swipes to the left. Just tested it and worked perfectly, though you'd need to leave a data connection on overnight or schedule it with something like Tasker. HTH
So I bought the Ultra yesterday. The speaker sounded great at first. Tonight I started a song on Google Music and it was loud at first. Then it seemed to autocorrect the volume. The volume is now the same between half and full. I cannot get it to turn up any louder and it is pretty quiet.... About half of what my S3 could put out.... This is between both the Pandora and Google Music apps. Is anyone else having this issue? Is there a setting I am not seeing to turn this "feature" off?

try a different app then you will know if its the phone or the app.
for what it's worth I've had google play music do weird things with the volume on some songs. (not a droid phone)
So I called VZW tech support last night and they told me to take the phone back and get a new one. And it also started doing it on speaker phone too.
Sent from my XT1080 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Isn't the phone supposed to do that? I believe I read somewhere the phone adapts to how you listen to songs... Will look for the article.
Sent from my XT1080 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I did a factory reset and that seemed to fix it for a while. Music played normally for about 6 hours then it randomly started cutting the volume level again. It gets so quite it sounds like the volume is only at 10-15%. I went to Verizon and couldn't get it to reproduce the effect in front of the agent. They said to come back if it keeps happening.
Sent from my XT1080 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I honestly believe that the phone is supposed to do that. It supposed to adapt to your listening preferences. I can't find where I read it but I will.. Just return it before your 14 days are up and see if the new one does the same. They shouldn't charge you.

Turn off the equalizer and surround under Sound > Audio Effects
Effects Profile: custom
Surround: off
Equalizer: off
Soooo.... sometimes it has no volume at all. I tried suggestion from the post above and it didn't seem to help. Too bad I really like the 5" screen. I think I going to return it and buy the Moto X instead though.

My volume does weird things using Google Play music as well. I was walking yesterday and had it on full volume. Never had it that way on any other device.
Past Moto phones have had a "High volume can harm your ears" warning that turns down your music unless you shut it off. Maybe that remnant of Blur stuck around and needs to be disabled somehow? Just a thought.

i do get a message that says that when i'm listening to bluetooth audio and go to turn the volume up on the phone. but, knock on wood, it still lets me turn the volume up.
edit: actually it looks like this: http://forums.androidcentral.com/google-nexus-4/229041-how-do-i-disable-unsafe-volume-warning.html - so if it happens on a NEXUS, then it's not motorola, it's Google (oh wait i forgot, they are motorola...and all of freaking android)
Hello, so this started some time ago (long), when i plug in my headphones and start playing music, after some time, completely random, my phone turns the headphones into (as i assume from the icon) a headset with a mic in it and starts either calling the last called contact or turns on google talk. Also whenever this happens usually the volume tends to lower itself also.
I'm using factory settings, no new roms, just restored into factory everything from scratch, that bug is still there, no additional apps. Also it doesn't matter which player i use, used winamp now i used google play...
Much obliged in advance
What is your rom.

Using phillips headphones, don't have the box so i can't identify them atm, anyways, noticed that when i'm using the VLC player, and only when i leave it turned on and not minimized, the bug becomes less frequent, so i guess that's a software issue?
Obviously when i had the htc earphones this did not happen.
If your headphones have a little control piece for answering calls or volume this is probably your problem as most of them are designed to control iPhones they don't work and cause your phone to do some funky things and drain battery like crazy
