Whats the white balance settings are you using?
What scene settings are you using?
These 2 settings determine the outcome of the color tone.

White balance is set to auto and scene settings is set to none.
A request for all i9003 users, can you test the same with your cameras in daylight and post pictures here?

1st reduce the size & dimensions of your images posted in this thread 600pixel is more than sufficient to see the color cast, its a pain to download that amount of data on 2g plans.
White balance is set to auto and scene settings is set to none.

if these are the settings then instead of auto try daylight & see if that corrects the color cast or not, if not then you are having a real bug as I don't have such problems.
What firmware are you using?

Ill reduce the size mate
Im using the stock DDKB2 firmware. What about yours? CAn you post a smaple picture taken in your camera in daylight?

I have attached 2 images which are shot on auto white balance they both look good in color.
Here is the Exif info from the images

I have Kb1 that's what I got the phone shipped to me,
I have not been able to update via kies.
Reset all the camera options & then try shooting some subject with something white in it so test if it still gives you a color cast, if it does then YES there is a problem.

Your images are looking good dude, well if there is a problem is that related to hardware or software, whats your opinion

Problem could be anywhere, need to get this test done by some other users who have Kb2 on there phone.
I also notice that there is a FW version for the camera (2nd line in exif info)
mine is Firmware: fw 05.15 prm 08.56
I still request you to reset all the camera defaults & then shoot a test image & post the results. Then we ask some other user to do the same only then we will be able to conclude if its hardware or software related issue.

I just reset the camera and took some pictures, ill post it back soon

May i know where i can find the camera firmware?

I googled for that software and got it

Nowhere only samsung would have it, but 1st post the images & let me check the exif info of your images, that will tell us a bit more.

Which software, are you talking about the camera firmware?
Dont do anything as yet with the camera fw.

I was talking about this software dude,
https://market.android.com/details?id=since2006.apps.exifdroid
Shows the info about the picture taken

This is the image taken after resetting the camera

Is that wall white (distant right side) if yes then it has some uneven color cast of slight red color which suggest 2 things that either there is indeed some hardware issue or check the lens for any smudge marks which will make it work like some filter.
Clean the lens & take some thing real white from your house (can be multiple white items) arrange that on the roof or garden & shoot in full daylight.
Don't shoot against light as you have done instead the sun should be behind you or to any side but not against you. We will be able to conclude soon.
As per your image exif info we both have the same fw 05.15 prm 08.56

Some more images, unfortunately the 1st image still has the red tint, but i think it depends on the angle and the amount of light!! It cant be a hardware error, as the 2nd image is still good in the same location

These look okay, but I'd take it to Samsung and ask them to check it out, just to be sure

It does show the reddish cast,
in some shots its more in another its less,
the best method to test is what i suggested in my earlier post. your camera does seem to have a problem when I compare the images with my camera shot on auto WB.

Took my mobile to samsung service center, they said they will reflash the same firmware and it may solve the problem. I bought the mobile exactly 12 days before, Can i ask them to replace my mobile? In need of your opinion guys

Captivate's Camera

What up guys..just got my Samsung captivate this week..but I'm not new to android scene.. (all hail ANDROID)...I have my personal cell a moto Droid.. and I had a nexus one, which I lost/got stolen
I missed my Nexus one..until yestarday..I was playing around with the camera app the captivate comes with and I found something that made my day...the PANORAMA MODE!!!!!
I have to say guys...so many extras..so many settings..so many modes...
thank you samsung..I always had choosen my moto droid over my nexus one..but now I have a new favorite ..
yeah the camera is hella good. man, especially the 720p recording!
I thought panoramic was awesome too.

This phone is stupid fast.
The panarama is better than any I tried before.the fact u don't have to snap each picture is ap plus

my phone says 0.3M with a rectabgular shape around it kind of at the top left of the camera screen. any idea what that means?
,3M means 0.3 megapixels...thats probably the only downside..but the picture still looks great!!
I removed the twiz or whatever is called home app..and deleted all crapware..and yes..is really fast....faster than froyo on nexus one..I can believe is running android 2.1....what other mods can I install??

well first read up on the pimp my captivate guide
http://www.multiupload.com/4X0O96JYTV
it'll explain the basics for backing up, nandroid, etc.
But here's my set-up:
Flashed stock JH2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7614957&postcount=6
(How to flash tut = here) Basically shows you how to access dl mode.
First download all the files for the JH2 (the firm, tar, and pit) then you must have odin running first, select the tar, and pit file in their respective directory and extracting. THEN you enable download mode in phone.
After you have stock JH2
SRE 1.0
here
Roots, overclock, integrated wireless hotspot/usb tethering, market fix, lag fix, ad block, market uncensor, allows you to install apks directly from phone, removes att crapware, and boot animation, adds fonts, and gps fix.
After all's ready, enjoy your amazing fast phone (Raped my friend's evo nasty)

All of this is done INSIDE the phone. No post processing or anything needed. Press a button one time, just follow the green box and your done. Samsung makes real digital cameras by the way.
You can also make action shots when you select the action mode. Not sure if the Captivate has this:
I cant seem to change the resolution in panoramic mode
I believe thats normal. Having a higher pixel count might lead to massive picture sizes and would probably cause a problem for the phone imho.

All cameras even high end sony digital cameras when shooting panaroma shoot in a lower then their native.
No big deal..ill use my 7d for that
Photostitch lets you make panoramas with a much higher res but you have to manually snap each shot. Anyone had success with vertical panorama shots?
I love the camera on the Captivate. It blows my old iPhone camera away. These pics aren’t the best, but its more than capable of performing well. The detail is amazing especially when viewing on the phone.
I took this panoramic today, was pretty excited to mess around with it

Froyo Camera jgp compression patch/disable

replace /system/etc/mot_ise_imager_cfg.bin with attached file
It is possible to improve the JPG compression of the camera, almost removing the compression. I have already written on the xda-devs, can someone come in handy here.
Take the file / system / etc / mot_ise_imager_cfg.bin, changes everything 41 01 44 07 41 01 XX to 44 07 01 and replace the phone. In sharp ones Jpg files will be 3 times more, about 1,5 Mega and visually clearer, because More information is preserved.

That It's better than before,I agree!

Found it strange since day 1 I have this great phone that you cannot set the jpeg compression in the camera software.
Anyway, somehow getting the raw sensor data, that would be really cool!
Not a perfect picture, but much more better now, thanks.
- Well, what do you think how many % did quality improve?
- And how many % did the data-rate/filesize increase?
The relation of these two factors is the only relevant thing here I think.
Can you please upload the PICTURE "before and after" this update please

in both respects no change on my defy. image quality doesn't improve noticably, neither does the file size (stays between 1.1-1.3mb). sorry. but thanks for the effort though.

FAKE, 100%%
This patch doesn't anything....
It's only a simple change of exposition, only works with flash and something with normal photos witouth flash!!
Go awai lier...
Ehi guys the user Stalker1971 from telefonino.net uploaded 2 picture: one made with the standard camera app, the second one with the app "Pro zoom camera 5x".
I think the quality improvement is huge.
Take a look at the photo:
1 standard) less than 400 kb
http://img847.imageshack.us/i/20110303170504600.jpg/
2 Pro zoom camera 5x) 3,1 MB
http://img203.imageshack.us/i/mar320118593.jpg/
What do you think?
Kinda hard to compare if its not the same image, really...
Indeed. And ofcourse, a bigger filesize says little about actual quality.

OMG... Did you even tried that? I didn't said it's perfect, but pictures are now much more better, and less compressed, compared with those without this patch. So it is on my phone, that's a fact.
So please go away yourself.
Hi,
Here are sample of stock camera, vignette and Camera360:
Stock_camera...............................Vignette....................................Camera360
468KB..........................................1.62MB.....................................1.29MB
quality75......................................quality100..................................quality100
Tomorrow I'm gonna try to shot on the day light.
I prefer Camera360 photos but stock camera is working very well too. Vignette has some trouble with flash led.
edit:
Here are photos in day light.
1. Camera360
2. Stock Camera
3. Vignette
Vignette looks the best at the day light.
I have some trouble with this patch.
My stock program works well for 2-3 shoots sequently, but then it stuck with half screen with photo and half with grey color...
I noticed with my first vertical photo (turning phone clockwise) but after that it's happened almost every time...
Now I try go back with stock one.
Maybe something in file writing stucked the phone.. Someone have noticed something similar?
Edit: Maybe I've found the bug.. if I take photos in my room, the photo is around 800KB, but with external snapshot (more details, more colors = bigger file) I can reach over 1.4MB... I think the camera is stucking with files over that dimension. Maybe a bit higher compression will help.. I'll try.

Hot pixels on rear camera photos after applyining APEQ software update

Greetings S7 users!
Well, after applying APEQ software update which updateted rear camera software too I noticed a lot of hot pixels on photos taken with my Galaxy S7 camera with ISOCELL sensor. I started a thread on the best known polish Android discussion board and I found that a lot of S7 with ISOCELL sensor users experience the same problems. Issues are almost always the same: pink or red or blue or white hot pixels on photos. The problem is the most visible with HDR Mode ON, less visible with HDR Mode Auto and little visible in Pro Mode or Auto without HDR.
So... I would like to ask XDA comunity to check if you experience the same issues:
-> just take some photos with HDR Mode ON and look for red/pink/white/blue spots on your pictures. You should see them even on your phone screen with a little magnification...
The problem is related with ISOCELL sensor and APEQ software update.
Sony sensors seem to be just fine.
This how the problem looks on my sample photo:
http://i.imgur.com/mXvykuM.jpg
I put those hot pixels in rectangles just to show you how those hot pixels look like.
I think there will be a huge problem for Samsung when users will mass RMA their devices...
Thanks in Advance!
I have a few pictures taking outdoors with lots of pink pixels. Was wondering if something was wrong but it doesn't happen anymore

I didn't have this at all so far. Running APF2 now. Nothing now too.
Got the issue on APF2. It's vissible only on night shot or pro mode.
I'm on APD1 Software on my S7 from Vodafone Germany.
Today I noticed that I have some really small black points and stripes on my camera.
No matter if I take pictures with stock camera app or with instagram for example.
If I zoom in these dots are away, so they are always at the same section.
I have Isocell sensor and I tried different camera modes.
It is there in videos too.
I cleaned the camera protection lens, but no improvement.

most camera sensors have them; typically software masks them. DSLR's its the nature of the beast. seems like an oversight in software/update.
There're a lot of hot pixels on attached jpeg file. I've noticed this effect only if ISO is set to 40. At 50 everything's OK. HDR is switched to always on.
Firmware version is G930FXXU1APD1
Sub version is MMB29K.G935FXXU1APE9
What's APEQ? Is that only for the international version?

Mine brought a galaxy s7 from a local shop without any warranty and my images are very much discolored may be mine is refurbished one, i am disappointed, software check says its isocell, can you please post some indoor and outdoor images,FULL size image please, then i can check or compare
Hi,Does anyone know is this software bug resolved in the newest update released these days?
I have latest update and the same problem, random pink dots on low light photos.
I was wondering if someone without the pink dots issue could post their software info so I could download it from sammobile.
This is my current situation and I'm having issues.
I was looking for south east europe and poland versions to download them, but I found out that they are the same as the one I have. Well, as far as I can tell..
My baseband is still apeq.

Weird "glow" on upper left side on photos

Hey,
I noticed that when a light shining directly into the lens and the brightness is set to low in camera i got a weird glow, like if there was patches / scratches on the lens. But there isn't. Everything is fine on the surface.
now does anyone else face something like that? What could it be? Should I get a replacement?
Look at the examples below. I'd appreciate any suggestions, help or confirmation if someone is having the same issue.
I know it looks like lens flare. But 1cm to the right or left and its gone.
Heres the glowy pictures:

Please tell me what you think
This is not just a light. This is like laser light which every optical mouse equipped with and it has light reflector in there too so it is normal to have this effect in low light condition. Try to take pic of it in normal day light condition.

Yes I know I just had nothing else to demonstrate.
And as you can see even with the laser the effect is only in the upper left corner of the picture. It's like a patch
When not forcing the artifact with putting the light 8ns the top left corner its barely visible in any situation. But I know it's there and it's bugging me a lot.
Here's an example with a light (led) in my room.
First is upper left second is upper middle

Weird. Did you zoom in? what are your camera settings? is it auto mode or manual mode? Any adjustments? is it 8mpx pic (stock settings) or 23 or?
Here are my examples. Photo taken with 23pmx resolution at different angels. As you can see one photo is fine and second one has similar to what you are having. If you are taking photo of the light bulb that close you still get the effect of super nova lightning lol Also make sure your camera glass isn't full of your finger prints or dirty. Because if your camera lens receiving dirty lightning it might reflect that too

These were cropped pictures of a full image.
The first one Is taken like in the first exams here with the light source in the marked area, you see this rays.
The second one is taken like in the second example here with the light source in the middle. (any other position apart from top left looks fine.
Settings are 23mp superior mode brightness to low (so it's visible better ) it's actually always visible apart from 16:9 aspect ratio because it cuts some centimetres from the top and the bottom of the 4:3 image.
It's forced like that

These are just the sliders for brightness and colour as your can toggle over settings in stock camera.
Unlocked and rooted. Drm fix applied. So that's not the problem.
As I marked in the first picture the rays only appear in that area. It's not software related.
Would you try to place a light near that area I marked and see if you get something similar?

Have a nice day :silly:
Camera Observations which i did
If any one is intrested in Original pictures then letme know i will give the link below so that you can have keen observation and deductions than me :highfive:
These are the Images taken with 5 camera Apps
1) Cyanogen Camera - Apkmirror
2) Camera Fv-5 pro
3) Footej Camera - Playstore
4) Open Camera - Playstore
5) Stock Camera
Settings :
Exposure Type : Frame Average/Average Metering
ISO: AUTO
BRIGHTNESS : AUTO
Focus Type : Touch to Focus
Environment : Indoor ( without artificial lightning, but with ample sunlight visibility)

i took same thing, by changing all camera' sby touching them allways at same point.. here are the results
1) Image taken by Camera Fv5 -
There is image Smoothing going on... which is same as Lenovo stock camera, but this gave the image size of 5 MB
2) Image taken by Cyanogen Camera -
In here, there is no image smoothening but detail level is Maximum than anyother camera i have tested, This gave image size of 6 MB
3) Image taken by Footej camera -
Here also i can see image smoothing, this exactly showcased what lenovo stock camera did , image size is 2 MB
4) Open Camera -
This is another camera which has Good detail, but image taken by Cyanogen camera is having more level of detail than this .. This gave image size of 8 MB ( The highest)
5) Fianlly Stock Camera - Smart ON
This is the fastest snapper among all the camera apps i have tested, but the level of detail is way lower, there is severe image smoothing going on ( same as Camera Fv5,Footej camera) , the image size is 2 MB
i decided there is something Wrong with Smart ON and OFF
so i took samples with ON and OFF , but the resulting image smoothening is similar, the smart ON mode took better exposure control than OFF mode, image sizes are same
Verdict : Open camera, and Cyanogen Camera are atleast overcoming SOME limitations by Lenovo , thereby causing better images than Other cameraapps that i have tested today .. but Color Composition is same in every APP , Brightness and exposure may vary depending on my Touches, but its least to bother..
Lenovo Stock camera app always takes images with lower exposure levels, thus resultant image is Pale
I prefer Cyanogen Camera as its giving more detail, with out smoothening the image aggresively..

@nandakis4
hi, can you share the link to cyanogen camera app? i can't find it in play store...
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/cyanogenmod
I like camera FV5 , you know you can go into settings and adjust image sharpness and if you save as PNG you get less smoothing than saving as jpg , but file is a lot bigger . . I'll post a few photos using different camera apps when i get time
Thanks @nandakis4 but not working on my device, the app stop at launch (cyanogen camera)!

Same here... can't get it to Work
Help please!
These are photos I took with open camera. I edited them with auto filter from Google photos as they seemed dull without it. P.S You have to root the phone for CyanogenMod apps.
Stock app @dannejanne ?

City Nightscape Mode:
This is not a drop of water on the lense....
I don't own a P2 yet...
Why are people saying the camera is bad? You guys seem to get good shots.
Has the 7.0 update helped?
