Hi guys,
I recently installed a third-party head unit in my car in order to get a number of modern features including aux input and bluetooth capability. (The stereo is the JVC XR810.) I also recently purchased a Droid 2, which is actually a casemod using a Droid 1 body with the Droid 2 internals shoved into it. Rooted, running a custom ROM, etc. It's great, I love it.
Everything seems to work great between the phone and the stereo—I can listen to Pandora or MP3s from the phone, and dialing out works properly, even voice dialing. The call audio is piped through the car speakers and I use the head unit's mic to talk. Wonderful.
The only problem is, when I receive a call while the phone is hooked up to the stereo via bluetooth, the call audio comes out of the phone speaker rather than the car speakers. The music that's playing over bluetooth pauses, the call comes up on the phone, but the sound comes out of the phone itself. This has only happened once (I don't get a lot of calls), but it sounded like it was coming out of the earpiece on the front of the phone rather than the speakerphone speaker on the rear of the phone. (I do plan to do some more extensive testing this evening using my gf's phone to call myself.)
I looked through the phone and car menus pretty exhaustively to try and find a setting that would cause this, but I can't seem to locate it.
Can anyone shed some light?

This little adapter is really well-reviewed on Amazon. Satisfied users mention Droid, EVO 4G, Incredible, Nexus One, etc. but no Charge.
Seems reasonable to expect it to work given such widespread Android compatibility but does anyone have firsthand experience?
I have had that one for a while now. It worked great on my D1 and now I use it on my Charge. Streams music and it sounds great. It has a volume control on it also. You can charge your phone at the same time. One of the best buys I have made.

Just so I understand, you use the headphone jack for audio, USB to charge.
Rather than playing through the USB alone?
If I had an easy way to connect in my car, I'd go ahead and sub to spotify. This could be it.

Actually I only use the bluetooth connection for sound. That way I can stream music and if I get a call I can hear it over the car speakers. I use the USB to keep the phone charged. I have never used the audio cable. Have you received it yet and if so how do you like it?
I'm thinking of picking this up, I'd probably wanna use a cig splitter since I don't particularly care that the usb port on this is only 650mah. Is it strong enough to run music and nav and keep the phone charged? or recommend a cig splitter so we can use the official cig charger from verizon?
I can't answer that question yet. I should get my car dock today and I haven't used it for nav yet. I have used it to stream music and voice.
Received mine yesterday but haven't had a chance to mess with it. I'm really hoping it charges effectively, I'm getting ready to search and/or post here about how HUGELY I'm disappointed in the Charge's battery life.
let us know hehe, thinking of either this or getting a new head unit for my car with bluetooth built in. Right now I use the aux jack on my radio, but I want to get rid up as much excess cabling as possible. Any fan of cable tidyness would agree hehe.
lol I am a total nutcase....was going to get this accessory but figured...why not just upgrade my head unit to one with bluetooth......and while at it picked up new speakers to replace the stock ones......ARGH, coulda just spent the ~$50 and been done with it instead of the $478 for the new HU, speakers, and install (which is tomorrow ^.^)

where are you getting it installed? im thinking of getting a headunit too but i dont know how to install it and im really bad with cars.
ya, get the professionals on that one...even if it is best buy...at least if they **** up its on them. After using my new stereo for 2 days, I have to say this....nothing beats the aux input cord.....bluetooth streaming is too poor, wicked hissy. still nice to have the bluetooth only for phone calls though.
Funny, I have never had the hissy sound over bluetooth. My streaming with the GOgroove Flexsmart X2 has always sounded as good as the radio and I have the Bose system in my Trailblazer.
thats weird. it may be the bluetooth adapter I have *shrugs* it sounds beauuuutiful through the line out on the car dock into the aux in on my HU, but if I only use it for calls oh well, it works hehehe
I'll chime in to say that bluetooth streaming in a rental Ford was superb. No static or hissing, full Spotify goodness.
I'd take my unit it back, if I were you. Shouldn't be problematic.

its inexpensive and works really well. I bought a few others from bestbuy and they always sucked and had poor sound quality for double the price, i saw this at walmart one day and said "what the hell" and picked it up, i was very surprised at how well it worked. It has a small profile, and even plays mp3s off an SD card if you want, though I have never used that feature. It has a remote as well.
I just bought a 2nd one for my wife, and ive been using mine for about a year now, its rock solid.
highly recommended. Also... its walmart, if it ever breaks just bring it back
It looks like that one from WalMart is a FM Transmitter only. The one we are talking about in this thread is not only a FM Transmitter but also a Bluetooth connector to our Phones so we can hold a conversation and hear it over the vehicles radio system. So it looks to me that it does everything the WalMart one does, except for the memory card slot, and much more.
So, I just got an infuse today, and so far I am loving it. However, I've noticed that when I plug it into my Sync system, it isn't charging. I am able to charge my iPhone, iPods, kids usb mp3 player, and other devices.
Has anyone used the infuse with a sync system yet? If so, what model year car?
Currently trying to use it in a 2009 Focus SES, non-touchscreen version.
Charges fine with my 2010 Fusion Sync system, non touchscreen and USB via port in the storage area between my seat and front passenger.
Try a different USB cable? Do other devices charge with it in your car?

I have a 2010 hyundai sonata and I use the usb connector in the car to charge the phone and it works just fine here.
I am not sure what a sync system is though but the charging is fine.
OK, I figured out the charging thing. For some reason, I have to make sure that it is in USB Storage mode, which means I can't just plug it in and forget it. Not a huge deal, as long as I don't try to plug it in when I am driving (yes, I learned that the hard way and almost went off-road in a Focus).
So my next question is, where does everyone put their music that they want to use with the sync system? Does anyone even use Sync, or do they just play it over BT to the car?
I would rather it go through the USB, as having to turn the volume up or down can cause audio distortion, whereas USB is just reading the file across and no amplification is taking place beforehand.
What software do you use to sync your phone with Music? I've downloaded DoubleTwist and WinAmp, but DT locks up and WinAmp's interface still sucks... (Really, it still seems like it was designed in 1995).
I used Sync once with an iPod. That was before I got the Infuse.
I own a Subaru - I only encounter Sync on rentals, so there's a possibility I might be using it tomorrow. (Business trip)
I use Bluetooth whenever my car actually wants to pair with my phone. I can almost never have the connection established, picks it right up with my HD2, but not my Infuse.... o well. AUX is the way to go. Lol

Optimus-Prime: Actually, I'm reading quite a few people having issues with bluetooth and wifi on the Infuse. It's actually making me reconsider the phone and going with something else.
I have had to turn off BT, turn it back on, then force Sync to look for the phone in order to get it to work in the car the last couple of days. If it continues and an update isn't available in the next few days, I will take it back and get a different model.
Fords software might not suport the infuse yet. It works great with my wifes iphone. Check out syncmyride.com and select your car and it should tell you what phones have been tested

I wish google would come up with software like sync for vehicles. I love sync but its very buggy sometimes. It does not seem to support alot of new devices.

sync's Bluetooth implementation hated my Huawei S7.
And no joy on testing on my trip - got a Chrysler.
I got a new stereo system for my car with bluetooth built in and was worried it wouldn't work well with my One X judging from all the complaints. Needless to say it works flawlessly. The audio quality is the same as direct AUX input and it just worked. What were all the complaints about bluetooth about?

The problems I had was that bluetooth would randomly disconnect occasionally, and sometimes when I started the car it just wouldn't connect. The random drop outs didn't happen often but it did happen. I have two other Android phones that do not have this problem. I haven't had any drop outs since I updated though so it may be fixed.
That's crazy. Mine has worked flawlessly so far. Has anyone else not had any problems?

I would guess that HTC has certified A2DP on your new stereo? What model did you get? On my Sony mex-bt2800 (bought it about 3 or 4 years ago) when I pair my One X there is no Acoustic Profile for it on HTC's bluetooth stack so the phone defaults the bitpool to 32 bits causing the tinny sound you can really hear it on Cymbals sounds like your listening to a 96kbps mp3. On the AOSP Rom's like CyanogenMod they use the bluez bluetooth stack which uses a higher bitpool of 53 giving me perfect playback on my stereo.
That's basically what all the hub bub is about. If you tell me what stereo you got I may just go get me one myself so I can get this issue behind me.

Interesting, I only listen to podcasts over A2DP in the car. I have a Kia Soul 2012 with the Microsoft based UVO infotainment system. I haven't noticed any issues but I might not since as I said it's most ly podcasts. I'm going to try and push some music on it tomorrow and see how it good it sounds.

With my experience, it depends on the car or head unit manufacturer. Some function better than others. Some play with smartphones better than others.

I work at an electronics store and have access to a cde133bt, its one of the stereos I tested my phone on.
The results are the same i've had on every other stereo, it starts to cut out after moving not even 15 feet away.
It's so bad in fact, that if i am standing right next to the stereo and I put myself between the phone and the stereo, it drops instantly.
Emailed/Called HTC, no response or solution.
Can you post what carrier youre on, android version, software version, custom roms(?), have you flashed or updated your phone with anything?

AT&T One X. Unrooted and on stock firmware. I got the stereo today and didn't change a thing on it. Simply turned my car on, paired my One X to it, and enjoyed that lossless bluetooth audio.

Bluetooth hooked up to my pioneer avic bt130 easily. sounds amazing (slacker,tune in, spotiffy, audio galaxy) with hertz audio mille components front and rear and 2 12w6s in the trunk. Jl hd 600/4 f/r and hd 1200 on the subs. I sometimes forget and think I'm on iPod (aac 256 & losless) input. Dumped all my mp3s..even the 320 bit rate. Used iTunes to convert everything with its best quality settings. Can't tell a difference from lossless. I love tha car mode with tune in. All though it would be better if I could choose the app. Have occasionally lost connection though. Not so much it's made me cuss yet.
Hox Bluetooth works crap with Cadillac SRX 2012, which was able to pair beautifully with the Dell streak 5 phone !
The OP seems incredulous or amazed that just because he paired with one stereo, and it works, that other people are reporting issues? Pretty broken logic. There are hundreds of different car stereo head units (not to mention many more hundreds of Bluetooth headsets, headphones, speakers, and other audio accessories) made by dozens of manufacturers all trying to make their units compatible with a slew of different phones. The Bluetooth standards seem loose at best, and its a bit like the wild west. As a previous reply noted, it completely depends on the brand and model of car stereo, some work better than others with the One X. And a stereo that works fine with one phone, may not work well with another.
Mine typically works well once paired, and sounds good (although once in a while it connects media only, no phone; or the skip controls on the car stereo do not work). But it does not auto-connect when I get back into the car. Its a pretty basic Bluetooth function that it should auto connects to a paired device, once it senses that device is within range and powered on. A look at the system files shows that Subaru stereo head units (as well as other car manufacturers) are blacklisted from auto connecting on the One X's Bluetooth stack.
I installed a new car stereo over the weekend that has bluetooth and my HOX connects and sounds great with it. But, like others the phone wont auto connect when I start the car. If I use the power control widget on my phone to turn off bluetooth and turn it back on it connects within seconds. Whats weird though is that both the phone and stereo will say its connected, but no audio will be played through the stereo until I turn the bluetooth off then on again on the HOX.
To be honest, this is not really a big deal to me because I only turn bluetooth on when I get in the car. So when I start the car and then I turn on bluetooth it connects fine. As long as I dont have bluetooth on before I start the car.
2010 Dodge Charger SRT8. The phone wouldn't connect no matter what I tried. I was going to wait for other roms to see if they could fix it, but the phone just caused me too many problems. It went back to best buy and I went back to a iPhone 4S and Lumia 900. Both of which work with my stereo perfectly.
Mine connects just fine to both my cars (a new Toyota Sienna and an old BMW with an aftermarket BT retrofit module). But it won't connect to my Motorokr headphones.
As someone said, this stuff is all over the map. It's not just HTC.
you only get lossless with bluetooth if you have the htc stereoclip.
Hello everyone. I bought a Digital Innovations universal android speaker dock. It was highly recommended by a friend and has great reviews online. When I got it the connection to my One X was spotty at best. When I would plug in the 3.5mm jack into my phone, sometimes my phone would recognize that a headphone cable was plugged in and other times it would not. I thought maybe it was the dock itself so I had it replaced. I got the new one today it does the same thing, except that I can not get the phone to recognize that the jack is plugged in at all.
I decided that I would try other devices. I plugged in an MP3 player, and it worked fine. I tried a second MP3 player and that worked too. Finally I tried an iPhone and that too worked. I cant figure out why my One X will not recognize that a headphone cable has been plugged in. If I use standard headphones the phone recognizes them immediately. Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening and what I can do about it?

Hi there, I'm posting from Sonr, we designed the dock you are using. This is the first time I've seen that problem. The closest I've seen was with a Sony Ericson phone that had a non standard wiring pattern on the plug, but based on what you are saying, standard headphones work. Now, just to clarify, when you say headphones, you mean like mp3 player headphones, not a phone headset, the distinction being that the headset has a built in mic. Also, when you say "standard headphones" do you mean ones that came with the phone or ones that came from another vendor (and not specifically designed for the one X).
As you can probably tell, I'm trying to isolate if the headphone jack configuration is non standard physically (like the Sony Ericson phone) or if the issue is something else.
Thanks for the response. I've now used three different types of headphones/headsets. Two were standard headphones and one was a phone headset. All three worked fine on my HTC One X.
I did find work around to get the dock to worl, but it will not work with the Sonr app. The solution was to go and buy a 3.5mm stereo plug extension. I connect the dock to that and the other end to my phone. I can now play audio from my phone through the dock, but the Sonr app will not find my phone. It's a start and I'm getting closer but I would love to be able to use the remote and built in buttons.

Ugh. I'm really sorry we didn't catch this in testing. We have plenty of other HTC phones, but not this one. It sounds like we need to acquire one. Based on what you're saying, this phone has another non standard headphone configuration, and we need an adapter for it. If you are game for helping us debug this, contact me directly at [email protected] com and I'll get you some adapters to test. Again, I apologize for the trouble.
