nice job...good to see more people doing the dev thing...again great job

Is this a sfc based rom? If not why did you remove silent and how did you get the aosp lock? Nice work tho.

Flash only with CM7?
CM7? As in cyanogenmod v7? I wasn't aware there was a stable CM7 release for the mesmerize..

Looks nice, I finally settled on Super Clean with the Honeycomb theme, it's all setup and working like a charm... Awesome to see some more devs active on here though.

I apologize
no there isn't just got my recoverys mixed up
its the voodoo lagfix recovery I was meaning
This actually is a pretty good ROM to anyone who would like to give it a try it wont effect your data/apps if you followed the above steps

Ill download this and take it for a test drive tomorrow and give you some feedback. I've got a whole day with no work and no wife, so yeah... bring on the roms lol

Thanks rrockstar downloading now!

This is a system update because I had to replace pretty much everything to port over the mods I was bringing forth with the ROM
The only thing this update does not touch is your app/data folder but you need to be already running some type of custom recovery to flash these updates to your phone.
And the only difference between the two versions is the kernels. So either 2.9.2 or 2.9.1 will work if I'm correct on the numbers but I flashed this to an eclair with custom recovery and it worked with no issues...
Edit* this will work from any build this is a full EC10 FROYO build the only thing needed to flash this is cwm recovery

Thanks YOU!!

Please name the thread correctly correctly
rrockstar.kidd, I appreciate that you are bringing more variety to the Mesmerize forum. We definitely need it, but advertising this as a FULL EC10 build when it is obviously not can cause some serious problems. First of all, if this were a full EC10 build and people were to start making themes for it, then those themes would also work on the Pick-n-Pack, because it is truly FULL EC10 build. If that were to happen, the person flashing the theme would end up in an FC hell because the theme would not be built from EC10.
EC10 Settings.apk does not have Dock settings, but the Fascinate ROMs do. So does sFc for the Mesmerize. EC10 also does not have Media player option in USB settings. It has Kies, but the Fascinate has the Media player as does sFc.
From what I can tell, you either rebuilt another Frankenstein, which is perfectly acceptable, or you just rethemed sFc, not as acceptable with the way you are marketing it and especially in the sFc thread. Either way what you should do is come clean in the OP and name it correctly and tell everyone what it truly is.
I'm not trying to flame you here. I'm just one of the few people that actually doing tech support from here and on irc, so i see all of the problems people have when the start flashing things. So when you name something FULL EC10 and it's actually Fascinate stuff, you are setting people up for a lot of problems, including the people that you SHOULD be working with to help people out.

No this is EC10 build with EC10 files and themes work perfectly as long as you dont replace certain features such as settings.apk if you want to theme the settings all you have to do is extract the one in this rom and theme it to your liking.
it contains everything you would need to upgrade from 2.1 or from another 2.2 as long as you have CWM all I did was decompile some of the jar files and apks from the fascinate and see what needed to be changed for the uscc 2.2 EC10 build and done so everything works but maps for some reason it wont upgrade it keeps giving me error -8
I think im pretty sure if someone would want to theme these files im sure flashing it afterwards for a themed rom being built off of this rom would work just fine, I been changing mine up this whole time changing this and that, but this is ACTUALLY MESMERIZE files correct me if im wrong though if you feel like trying it out or getting someone else to. I am sorry if I may have caused any confusion will change the title to just EC10. I am no great developer so naming and what I think may actually be wrong just help me out IMMA NOOB

So what I'm seeing you say, is that you have no idea what you actually did. While you were smart enough to get it to work, and you do seem really smart, you don't understand that you actually turned the ROM into a hybrid. While yes, you can build themes for just this ROM, it is very confusing for people to see FULL EC10 in the name of this and think that it isn't interchangeable with the actual EC10 build.
The reason I know all of this, is because I have tested it already. I've looked at the files. They are not EC10 and are not interchangeable. If it was purely EC10, as with other EC10 builds/mods, you could easily interchange the parts properly and they would work. With your build, it doesn't work and causes FC hell exactly like the sFc ROM pieces. I also cannot believe that you completely rebuilt the Settings.apk to include all of the things from the Fascinate, including the things that do not work. That is slightly counterproductive. I also can't believe that you just copied what the Fascinate has working and it worked. Mainly because this has been done many times by many people and it doesn't work. What does work, however, is rebuilding the Fascinate ROM so that it works on the Mesmerize. We know this works because, well, sFc...
Again, rrockstar.kidd, please don't take this as me flaming you. I really do appreciate having another dev here for the Mesmerize and Showcase if you are interested, and I would really like for you to come to the irc channel so we can talk. You obviously have enough skill to do some good work. I just want us all to get on the same page so we don't have problems with the people that are going to be flashing this stuff.

I changed alot of strings and values for the settings and I think the only thing that was brought from fascinate is framework.jar like the vzw services I don't have Verizon so I don't want vzw location on my phone i changed it to wireless network as it was before what irc channel

[ROM] No B.S. Froyo

I made this ROM because I was having problems with every other Sense-based ROM that I tried. This is based off the RRU that was posted here for download from conflipper's shipped ROM site instead of piecing together all the OTAs to get a 2.2 ROM.
This is a Sense ROM, and is very minimalistic compared to a lot of the others that have been posted here. Most will probably not find a use or a need for a ROM this basic, but if you've been having awake issues like I have despite (or in spite of) which apps you've installed on your phone, this might be worth a try. I've been running this ROM since last night and haven't had any problems. There's a chance that there could be something broken, but theoretically everything should work since nothing has been changed.
Features:
- Root privileges with the newest chainsdd su permissions app
- HAS NOT BEEN deodexed or zip-aligned
- nothing has been removed, added, or moved to make for easy removal of apps installed to /system
- stock boot animation and sound
- This is truly a 100% stock rooted ROM

Sorry but I just dont understand how it can be minimalistic and bare if its STOCK? you did not remove anything but? IDK correct me if I am reading this wrong. other than not adding anything like quick boot or idk lol most remove then add a couple things but in the end you wind up with allot less than stock.......
Sorry not trying to rain on any parade just curious

I think OP means minimalistic in terms of changes from what non-rooted users have.

Can any theme go over any rom?

Im rooted and running the leaked 2.3.13. I want to know try a rom. I know some roms hae blur and some dont. Most themes out there dont say which they are.
Can you apply any droid x theme on any droid x rom? If not, can you mod the theme zip and remove the blur content so it works with that rom?
No. Your themes should be based on the same version of Froyo as your ROM.
At that, most are on 2.2.15 now. You should update. I would even update to OTA. I don't subscribe to the paranoia that we're all shooting ourselves in the foot by doing it.

believe the paranoia, if the top name devs out there havent applied the ota, there's probably good reason. You should be on .15 though
you are correct on your assumption about the themes, if its blurless delete the blur.apks from the update.zip. All blur themes will work on all blur roms. If you choose to run rubix, make sure the rom states its for rubix, i have heard of some people having major errors.
Everyone has problems with rubix .3 (mostly). It's because he tweaked a bunch of things and refuses to tell anyone what he tweaked, so nobody can determine what's causing the problems. Kind of goes against the community, but w/e. There are better ROMS out there.
I don't see that the 'top devs' are not on OTA. Where do you see that? And where do you see them telling people not to?
I was on 2.3.15 before. I had issues with duplicate sms messages. So i went back to 2.3.13 thinking .15 was the issue..After I got .13 all setup and themed, i found out the duplicate sms was caused by the theme adding duplicate sms apks. And too lazy to redo it all over again with .15.
I wanna try a rom..Any suggestions? I am thinking Tranquility or flyX.
Well, then what you can safely do is somewhat limited. On the bright side you can hope that some of the stuff you install will replace some of your system files and put you on a bastardized .15 build.

[Q] My patience is running out on official froyo...

Like everybody else, I've been waiting for official froyo for a loooong time.... If samsung of att don't release it by next week, I'll flash my cappy with cutom rom...
Any one wants to give me an advice which rom is the most reliable and widely used?? Also, please post a link to get it??? Thanks in advance.:
I just recently started flashing ROMs and Serendipity has been running great. I suggest you head on over to the Development forum and:
1) Read the guide. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=884364
2) Read the comments from the different ROM threads to see which one seems stable.
Any one of DesignGears roms are extremely popular.
Perception:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=897538
Cognition: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=786532
I personally use Darkys as I love the look and feel and I have perfect gps with it.
Darky: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=890429
My vote is for Darkys as I use it day to day and love it. I've used both perception and cognition and I liked perception the best of the two. However the version I was running was older and I had an undervolted kernel so I don't know how the newer ones perform.

Just so you know, everyone has a different opinion in terms of roms. First off, learn what you're doing, then you can flash whatever rom catches your eye. That way you can figure out which one you want most.

You have a lot to learn before you start flashing Roms. This is your first post and even if you are a lurker you would know where to find the info on what to do. Please do your own research and where to find Roms because you will eventually run in to the issue of a soft brick and no one wants you to not know what to do in that point. Read as much as you can before doing anything, unless you don't care if you get stuck and have time to troubleshoot. But don't ask for links because all you need to do is look in the dev section for the Roms.
I appreciate your concern....just so you know, I've been reading and researching the threads for months, I've already rooted and sideloaded my phone....just didn't have a chance to register until now... I love this forum and want to get involved in actively.. I'm not the person who selfishly get waht he wants and just leave...

Start with a clean rom like serendipity & make sure you read instructions from all roms that way you can see which steps are most important and which ones are just special instructions to that specific rom. Do as much research as u can bare & don't do anything stupid you'll be fine

No it hasn't and you know it. He's talking about an official release, not a hacked-up ROM based upon beta code or code for different hardware (I9000).
No need to be cocky.
Minlee, multi-quote your posts instead of triple posting.
I've started running custom ROMs. Tried both Perception and Serendipity for like 1 day each, and so far, I'm liking Perception more. But I'm not going to flash again unless I have to as I have some problems where I'm getting my calls dropped.

I heard Perception is based on I9000 not SGH-I897.. Did you have any problem like dropped calls or anything??? When you flash the rom, did you have to flash the modem and kernel separately or just flash the rom and it takes care everything???

Rom does everything. Dropped calls are not an issue for me, but reach phone is different
I have very limited experience (I've tried 7 or 8 ROMS) but I've found the GT-I9000 based ROMS to be the best of the bunch, so far.
W/Cezar's I had to switch modems (receptions was awesome when I did) and it was good-to-go. It was the least buggy of any flavor ROM I have sampled- not sure with Doc & Stefunel's ROM Kitchen brew I mashed up yesterday (I need more time with it)- It works better than the official 2.1 or "official" leak of 2.2, or any of it's derivatives, that's for sure.
I'll say this to the OP:
Coming from a pedestrian fan of tech and total phone "hacking" noob-
The warranty is really your only concern. You can totally fail at everything (outside of a hard brick) including loosing all data and get the device back to stock in an couple hours- that's if you reload your apps one-by-one.
I botched an install and I was freaked out, for about a minute. Then I did some searching here.
This http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10497672#post10497672 is why my patience has yet to run out. I'd rather wait than go through these troubles. Plus, the devs here do a good job so try one of those and be happy.

I didn't make any calls on Perception so I can't comment on that. With Serendipity 2.0 with JL2 modem, I'm getting dropped calls when I receive them, not making them. Have yet to find out why that's the case and I've posted in a couple places.

Couple of things, maybe try a different modem, make sure your apn is set up correctly
Running Doc's i9000 with jk4 modern for over 2 weeks no dropped calls at all in fact I feel call quality is better.

[ROM] Showcase AOSP Froyo V0.9.1, Voodoo AOSP kernel, and GAPPS 3/20/2011

I AM IN NO WAY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DIRECTIONS YOU FOLLOW HERE NOR AM I RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PROBLEMS ANYTHING I HAVE CREATED MAY CAUSE YOU. YOU ASSUME ALL RESPONSIBILITY AND DISCLAIM THE RIGHTS TO SUE ME.
NEW RELEASE 3/28/2011
OK, time for a simultaneous release of AOSP Showcase and Mesmerize, with AOSP voodoo kernels and a set of GAPPS that jt1134 has built for us.
First of all lets give thanks to those that helped me out and made this happen. Phidelt82, thanks for testing and hosting the downloads. Elijahblake, thanks for testing and sticking to it even through your phone troubles that the inbetween releases and original (yet buggy) release called. Thanks dfgas for testing as well, and getting me important Mesmerize files. Baked_Tator, thanks for testing it, you provided great help. MrHanMan, thanks for testing, you provided great help as well. Thanks to all other testers who I can not remember their names at this moment (PM me and you'll get put in this list). Thanks jt1134 for all the work you put in on the fascinate rom lately, you've had me playing catch up, because though I strive, I can't be as fast as you. Thanks to lmartin92, for dedicating time, energy, and learning through the entire experience and making these builds happen (that's me)
Now to the order of business, announcing this release. You showcase users who have endured previous releases are now ready for a stable release and here it is. Yes some things are not working, but these are the things most folk can get along without.
What's working?
Bluetooth (though headsets, and keyboards may not work), file sending has been tested by many and is claimed to be working.
SMS is now working fully.
3g is working.
GPS is working.
Wifi is working.
Google contacts/gmail syncing is working (may require reboot or a bit of patience on your part).
In call sound volume setting is working thanks to jt1134.
It shows the proper company as to who is providing you services now.
Much more is probably working, but I can't identify them all nor make claims as of yet.
What isn't working?
Bluetooth headset.
MMS.
Video Camera.
Camera does not work at 5mp and it uses black and white previews.
Probably some other things, if you find them, let me know and I'll get to work fixing them.
Where can I get this?
The Showcase AOSP V0.9 rom release is here
mirror
and a torrent magnet link is magnet:?xt=urn:btih:7f1f77e7e9e9cd29cdf19b8eff9daa0ddaf8f9cf&dn=showcase-aosp-latest.zip&tr=http%3A%2F%2Fopenbittorent.com%2Fannounce.
The EC10 AOSP voodoo kernel is here.
The AOSP Gapps are here.
Use CWM Red to flash these in this order, kernel, rom, gapps. Anytime you flash the rom reflash gapps because the rom breaks gapps after reinstallation. Be sure to wipe data and cache before you reboot.
What happened to the kernel being inside of the rom? I've decided to seperate them out, if someone wants a non-voodoo kernel, they can make one and use it. It does have to be customized for AOSP. I just don't know yet how to do this, but it shouldn't be too hard.
In other words, I'm allowing folk to use different kernels than mine own if they care to put the work into it to make it happen.
WHATEVER YOU DO DO NOT *228 unless you wish to possibly lose your phone!
I would like to donate to the cause.
Glad to help you do that. I'm specifically looking to beef up my dev machine to a six core 16 GB ram beast. Of course, if anyone wants to participate in building, I'll actually donate some of my machine torwards a build server. These are the parts I would like to have, and I'm probably upgrading from 8GB 3core machine to a 12GB 3core machine next month (just modifying this sucker here).
I need 2 sets of this memory to make my dream happen. It's a Mushkin 2x4 GB ddr3 1333 (10666) MHZ). The cpu I would like to see is a six core AMD Phenom II x6 1100T. No I don't expect anyone to provide me with this, but this is what I'm going to upgrade to eventually and try to donate back to the community with a Samsung galaxy s i500 build server. By the way, when making donations I'm not the only one to consider. All those fine folk listed above deserve it just as much or more so than me. Now enough with my dreams.
Enjoy AOSP.

Good work man, would you be so kind as to keep the title of this like the rest and add [ROM] and EB11?
I'm also interested in seeing some screenshots .
No problem, changed. That's good info right there, makes this as easily searchable as the rest. Thanks.

No prob, plus this should save you from answering some dumb questions . Glad to see the showcase getting some Dev love!
I'll add some sms debug to the framework tonight. Shouldn't be hard to fix.

Actually, if someone could send me a deodexed framework.jar from a stock build, I can decompile it find a fix that way instead of wasting time on debugging

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is from phidelt82's Pick-and-Pack .3, which is based on Stock Froyo, I think.
EDIT: *shakes fist at elijah*
Updated Post#2 with how i fixed MY *228 and possibly other NONO debacle...
Be sure you read my exact problems before attempting my fix though please!!!!
Yeah the problem may be the fact there's no Cellular South info even in the apns-conf file haha. And some of the build.prop information is for Verizon, and there's values in there for GSM ? Er?
I flashed the one for the fascinate on my mez. My baseband still read eb16 I had 3g data idk will flash back at lunch and see if texting works but calls and data do. I was in a roaming area I work in a uscc home area that will tell it lol. Are those quadrant scores real? I mean I know that on the vibrant the test was high because of h.264 not working correctly.

well, it definitely doesn't feel the same, no lagging and stuttering when skimming through contacts.. Even the market is smoother for me..

why no custom froyo roms?

just curious.. hope this doesnt come across the wrong way. i realize everyone wants the latest and greatest, but why havent any dev's made a custom badass froyo based rom?
everything works, we have all the sources and bootloaders, etc.. and it can be made to look just like GB or ICS anyways with theming. it just seems like our devs would have a lot less difficult of a time getting things to work properly. i know there were a lot of difficulties faced when trying to get GB to work.. and still some features are missing
i do realize there are a few (3) modified stock froyo roms available. but nothing custom built straight from aosp. just an idea.. would anyone else be interested?

If a developer feels like running it, then it could happen but probably not. Now, somehow porting cm1 or whatever the first verson of it would be so cool, imagine telling people "ive got a pretty new phone running the software that started it all". Probably way more difficult then making ics for the infuse lol. Just based out of sheer curiosity.

It's not a bad idea, brad.
I've ran the uckh1 for a while. I used tibu to delete on extra un-needed like updater, music, social etc..it was pretty good and very responsive running stock and odexed.
There are a few things like battery management, memory manager, gtalk video that froyo does not support.
the infused 1.5 and cousins were pinnacles of their time...oc will also make it very snappy.
however, some app from market may not have all functions or display, so there is some drawbacks.
You can learn to theme...make it badass... and share?
Ya I'm by no means a developer. I can flash lol but coding is something I know NOTHING about. Not even a little bit

As a developer forum we are all about messing and trying new things. Once something new is released it is normally taken on by most of the developers. As this is not a site that focuses on Roms but on developing new and interesting stuff. You can see where it leads.
