[Q] How to know which version I have? - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just bought a Motorola Xoom. I would like to know which version I have.
In settings -> about it doesn't say much.
Is there a way to know it which version I have?

Build number HWI69 is wifi only. Any other build number is 3g + wifi.

[Q] Does captivate support 5.8GHz wi-fi N?

I saw the spec says it support 802.11n, but does it support 5.8GHz wireless N? Or is it just the 2.4GHz wireless N?
Mine doesn't, which was a big letdown.

No it doesn't. It would be a big power drain even if it had it. The easiest way to tell if a device supports 5.8 is to find out if it supports wireless A, which is always 5.8.
Thank you for the useful info.
Can or should you turn n off if your location does not support it?

Does the 3G version come with the phone app?

I.e., can I use the 3G version as a phone?
Yes

There are also several apps which will allow you to use the tablet as a phone without 3g.
TEXTPLUS
GROOVE IP

TF700 3G version. Phone app?

Just wondering if the new Asus TF700KL 3G version / 4G LTE version, that was just released in Germany on Vodafone, will have the phone app and the ability to make and receive regular GSM phone calls, like the Galaxy Note 10.1.
Anybody knows the answer ?

Why pay extra for LTE, just use the groveip app to make phone calls with wifi and tethering through your phone when you out side in the park. No aditional cost!

LTE not working

My lte is not working. I'm rooted and running cyanogen mod 10. I am in an LTE area. I've tried a number of different roms including sense. I've tried flashing different radios. Nothing seems to be fixing the problem. I got lte a while ago when I was on viper rom and haven't gotten it since. Flashed back to viper and still no lte. What should I try next? Thanks for any help.

I'm stuck on hspa. It doesn't say lte. I think I might have to go take a visit to an at&t store.

From the CM10 Q&A:
Q: My signal strength says 4G. Why is there no LTE?
A: E=Edge, 3G = UMTS, H = HSPA/HSPA+, 4G = LTE
Go into system tuner or ROM manager and then edit this build.prop:
ro.telephony.default_network
Change the number to 10 or 11 (that's what worked for me)
Save it and reboot.
Let me know if this works. I've brought this up before but I was shot down and told no one has this problem.

New Nexus 5 - network problem (a complicated one)

Hi
need your help, I have tried everything..
I can not connect to 3G
I tried to flash image factory/set correct APN setting with the operator/switch radios/replacing new SIM.
didn't helped my!
When I connect to 2G everything works for me, calls and online.
When I switch to 3G, I have no service, it writes me Unavailable operator.
It get stuck on the "Search" when I try to search manually.
When I try to go back to 2G, it is still stuck on "searching.." and I have no reception! Only reboot fixes it and I can go back to work with 2G.
It is important to note that when I take out the SIM I can find operator on 3G.
How can I fix the problem or even understand what it comes from?
I have Nexus tool kit, maybe I can sent you Catlog \ bugreprot?!
Thank You in Advance
What about, when you are in LTE ? Will you get 3G ? You should get either 3G or Edge (came to know that your country don't have LTE yet).

I don't have LTE in my country yet, and my operator only have 2G (no EDGE)
If you choose LTE on your phone, it supports all lower versions (i.e 3G / Edge) ! So you must get Edge (2G) !
LTE option doesn't force only LTE !

I know, if I choose LTE I get the same problem, no service..

This. The Nexus 5 very well may not support the 3G frequencies your network uses.

I certainly know that this is not the problem, Nexus 5 is supported in my country
Should not be a problem with the 3G frequencies of both models 820 \ 821.
If that's the case, I'd recommend contacting your carrier.
