Hi,
I want to install the custom keyboard on my Droid running Froyo.
I downloaded the APK file already but only one folder is showing.
Do I need to download another files or something??
you also need to go into the settings on your phone and turn it on.
Menu -> settings -> location and keyboard -> check your keyboard you downloaded
You may have to uncheck "android keyboard" also depending on the keyboard.
Hope it works!
TNT 2.4. and previous versions. Can't install any other keyboards. If I select the option to enable an installed keyboard it just remains unchecked then force closes.
Any ideas?

I downloaded and installed an new ime which supports hand-writing input. It seems istalled ok and running. When i tried to input something, the tap' n tap keyboard always shows up and i can't use the new one. Do i need to remove the tap 'n tap first?
Assuming you're running either stock VS TnT or TnTlite, search the forums for replacement/alternative keyboards, there are two ways of activating installed alternative input method, one involves temporarily flashing stock android settings app, enabling your keyboard and flashing VS TnT settings back, second requires modifying the permissions via adb shell or something similar. I personally find flashing stock settings app is easier. Reboot, flash stock, reboot, go to settings, put a checkbox next to your keyboard(s), reboot, flash VS app, reboot, your keyboard is now activated and can be selected.
Once your input method is activated, long press on input box will display a popup where you can switch input method from TnT to yours. You don't need to remove TnT keyboard, you can switch to any (activated) keyboard on the fly using this long press technique.

Which firmware is on your Gtab? Also which IME?
You can try copying the apk file from /data/app to /system/app, then reboot.

I think you will need to modify apk's permission bits after copying to fully activate it. It is in the forums somewhere...

Hello All,
I have installed TNT lite 4.0. I was under 3. 14. I have tried to install wemote controller. When I go into the settings I see the selection to enable wimote IME but it does not enable it. Is this a problem in the ROM?. I have tried Vegan and it works on that one but I do not like my tablet resembling my droid OG. I like TnT. Has anyone gotten the wimmote to work on TnT?
Thanks, Rob

I am having the same issue on the most recent version of TnT lite. Any resolution?
It's a stock issue that they have yet to correct. You can't alter keyboards (which is what the Wiimote app is) if the keyboard is installed as a user app - you have to add it to /system/app via a tool like adb or root explorer.
Thanks Roebeet!

any tut on how this is done? I too would like to keep my TnT ROM.
Has anyone successfully get it to work yet?
I did what was suggested and used root explorer to move the wiimote apk to the system/app and installed it from there, but still was unable to enable it in the keyboard settings? Is there a deeper location to set the permission?
thanks.
Edit: a reboot of the tab refreshed it so that I can now select the wiimoteIME.
I will post different versions of Swype for our resolution.
First - edited apk from XXLA4 rom. Features:
Edited keys layout - less interval between buttons (same in latest betas).
Languages all in.
removed resources for other resolutions.
Build 3.26.92.37861.
Download: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7655681/Swype.N7000.v3.26.92.37861.CWM.B.Maximenko.zip
Second - edited official beta. Features:
Slim apk - only English included, rest can be downloaded in settings.
Dragon voice input.
Removed resources for other resolutions.
Build 3.26.92.37604.
Download: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7655681/Swype.N7000.v3.26.92.37604.CWM.B.Maximenko.zip
Skins are original - first is stock Samsung, second is official grey-blue.
Installation:
Obviously, root is required. If you aren't using Speedmod kernel, you can use Flash Update option in Chainfire's CWM app and select downloaded zip. Alternatively, you can boot into recovery (hold Power+Volume Up+Home buttons until your phone boots recovery, ~15 seconds) and install zip from there.
If you have problems with downloading additional languages, clear data for Swype in Application Management menu or within Titanium Backup.
Some useful info regarding Swype
I've found a way to adjust keyboard's height by editing userdata, preserving apk. The point is to edit displayX_SwypeScreen.ini file. X is 3 in Note's versions; 7 in official betas. You need to extract this file from Swype.apk (using any zip extractor), edit it and put with any root file manager to folder /data/data/com.swype.android.inputmethod/swypedata.
I've installed la4 from mobile Odin and now the cwm keeps telling that has disabled some options for not being fully compatible with kernel or something like that...
Any other option for installing that versions of Swype? I don't find the way using cwm.
Thanks
Working perfect
I installed it through CWM, it's working perfect, no any problem at all.
But, before it I deleted Swype using Tithanium.

No, and I don't think it is possible to mod it this way.
u the man!! works flawlessly.
I made a custom apk of the newest Swype Beta 3.26.92.38303 for the Note. It is ICS compatible as well. Use titanium backup to remove any previous version before installing. This version allows you to download additional languages if desired. It comes with English and Spanish

Same happened to me, what I did is restart my phone while it was on the queue, then go to Language Options > Manage Languages > Remove Languages and remove it, and then download the same language again. Download started 2 secs after I added it. Other languages now install properly also
Edit: Also since my language layout has 4 rows it's terribly inconvenient in landscape mode (see attachment). Is there any way around this? Since this is a moded .apk I believe it is possible to edit the height of the keyboard in landscape mode also. English is a little better, but still a bit too hard to use for the 800 pixels we have in height.

Thanks for the advise, I only rebooted after I remove the formal swype and did not reboot again after the new one installed.
Remove the new swype because the download kept hanging there.
Will try again your method when 1.4 arrives.

Yes it is. Currently it is set to 288 pixels, what would you like me to change it to?
EDIT: Here is one modified to 360, I forgot to change it for landscape mode.

Please use latest beta 3.26.92D.38303 and download languages in settings. Or google the guide, I don't want to waste time explaining what has been explained many times.
