[Q] Can't Install Alternative Keyboards - G Tablet General

TNT 2.4. and previous versions. Can't install any other keyboards. If I select the option to enable an installed keyboard it just remains unchecked then force closes.
Any ideas?

how to install an new ime for gtab?

I downloaded and installed an new ime which supports hand-writing input. It seems istalled ok and running. When i tried to input something, the tap' n tap keyboard always shows up and i can't use the new one. Do i need to remove the tap 'n tap first?
Assuming you're running either stock VS TnT or TnTlite, search the forums for replacement/alternative keyboards, there are two ways of activating installed alternative input method, one involves temporarily flashing stock android settings app, enabling your keyboard and flashing VS TnT settings back, second requires modifying the permissions via adb shell or something similar. I personally find flashing stock settings app is easier. Reboot, flash stock, reboot, go to settings, put a checkbox next to your keyboard(s), reboot, flash VS app, reboot, your keyboard is now activated and can be selected.
Once your input method is activated, long press on input box will display a popup where you can switch input method from TnT to yours. You don't need to remove TnT keyboard, you can switch to any (activated) keyboard on the fly using this long press technique.

Which firmware is on your Gtab? Also which IME?
You can try copying the apk file from /data/app to /system/app, then reboot.

I think you will need to modify apk's permission bits after copying to fully activate it. It is in the forums somewhere...

WII controller IME does not turn on under TNT Lite

Hello All,
I have installed TNT lite 4.0. I was under 3. 14. I have tried to install wemote controller. When I go into the settings I see the selection to enable wimote IME but it does not enable it. Is this a problem in the ROM?. I have tried Vegan and it works on that one but I do not like my tablet resembling my droid OG. I like TnT. Has anyone gotten the wimmote to work on TnT?
Thanks, Rob

I am having the same issue on the most recent version of TnT lite. Any resolution?
It's a stock issue that they have yet to correct. You can't alter keyboards (which is what the Wiimote app is) if the keyboard is installed as a user app - you have to add it to /system/app via a tool like adb or root explorer.
Thanks Roebeet!

any tut on how this is done? I too would like to keep my TnT ROM.
Has anyone successfully get it to work yet?
I did what was suggested and used root explorer to move the wiimote apk to the system/app and installed it from there, but still was unable to enable it in the keyboard settings? Is there a deeper location to set the permission?
thanks.
Edit: a reboot of the tab refreshed it so that I can now select the wiimoteIME.

Flash on 2.1 in Default Browser

Flash works on YouTube.com using the default browser after installing this APK:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695965
I installed this APK and restarted my phone and flash is working on youtube.com. I'd recommend uninstalling flash lite first.
Doesn't work on Miren browser.
Not sure if it matters that it's in an HTC EVO forum, but it works on my Mesmerize so I'm happy.
80 Views and no comments? Is this working for people? Helpful, unhelpful?
Didn't work for me. Phone said it couldn't parse the package. I had emailed the file to my phone, so I'll have to try again later and use a data cable.
it works, been playing with it since, yesterday!
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Works fine for me in the stock browser and in Dolphin. Thank you very much.

Settings > Applications> Manage applications > Flashlite > uninstall.
I just got it working. Took a few times uninstalling flash for me to realize it didn't really work in Opera.

Thanks for your help but I tried that before and it didn't work. I had to use Titanium Backup. Flash worked for youtube but that's it
I'm having issues with this, I uninstalled both Pineone Flashlight Plugin 1.0 & Flash Player 1.0 then installed this .apk (flash 10.1) but neither the browser nor dolphin is picking this up. In fact, when i go to whatismyflash.com it says it's been removed/disabled.
Anyone clue me in to what I missed?

This is a common problem with stock, and thus TNT Lite - you can't add keyboards that way. you need to use a rooted method like root explorer or adb (the apk needs to be added to /system/app).

Maybe you can try to select another keyboard in the "language and input" settings and make it default and then try uninstalling crashing keyboard using Lucky Patcher (h t t p://lucky-patcher.netbew.com/download/) or some other uninstalling app.

So when you uninstall the keyboard it says it is uninstalled successfully but it wont still actually uninstall?
Have you tried restarting your phone, then selecting that unwanted keyboard as default, then clear cache, force stop and then uninstall? And then restart again?
