Hi,
I want to install the custom keyboard on my Droid running Froyo.
I downloaded the APK file already but only one folder is showing.
Do I need to download another files or something??
you also need to go into the settings on your phone and turn it on.
Menu -> settings -> location and keyboard -> check your keyboard you downloaded
You may have to uncheck "android keyboard" also depending on the keyboard.
Hope it works!

I downloaded and installed an new ime which supports hand-writing input. It seems istalled ok and running. When i tried to input something, the tap' n tap keyboard always shows up and i can't use the new one. Do i need to remove the tap 'n tap first?
Assuming you're running either stock VS TnT or TnTlite, search the forums for replacement/alternative keyboards, there are two ways of activating installed alternative input method, one involves temporarily flashing stock android settings app, enabling your keyboard and flashing VS TnT settings back, second requires modifying the permissions via adb shell or something similar. I personally find flashing stock settings app is easier. Reboot, flash stock, reboot, go to settings, put a checkbox next to your keyboard(s), reboot, flash VS app, reboot, your keyboard is now activated and can be selected.
Once your input method is activated, long press on input box will display a popup where you can switch input method from TnT to yours. You don't need to remove TnT keyboard, you can switch to any (activated) keyboard on the fly using this long press technique.

Which firmware is on your Gtab? Also which IME?
You can try copying the apk file from /data/app to /system/app, then reboot.

I think you will need to modify apk's permission bits after copying to fully activate it. It is in the forums somewhere...

This is a common problem with stock, and thus TNT Lite - you can't add keyboards that way. you need to use a rooted method like root explorer or adb (the apk needs to be added to /system/app).
Android 4.2 keyboard with gesture, its as good as swipe.

After installing go to languages and input and check Android Key board
Hope it will be useful.
Download and Install
Now, getting it on your device is going to be easy for some of you, and less easy for others. You'll need to be on Android 4.0+, to start.
If you're on a phone with a UI overlay that has the stock keyboard disabled (eg, Samsung TouchWiz, HTC Sense, Sony), you can just download the apk below- no root required. To install, make sure you have "install from unknown sources" enabled in your phone settings, and after installation, go into your phone's keyboard settings and enable "Android keyboard." Then, you can switch to the new keyboard. This may also work on some "stock" Android custom ROMs - but it will not work on stock Android builds distributed by Google.

If the apk doesn't work, you're running a phone that is either A.) running stock Android (as in, AOSP), or B.) running software that has the stock Android keyboard as an option, you'll need to download this ZIP file, and flash it in recovery. That also means you're going to need root. as you'll be writing to /system/apps. Before you do, though, either back up the stock keyboard (if you don't know how, you probably shouldn't be doing this) or create a full image backup, just in case. Here's that ZIP file:

Um ok, but this stuff (4.2 keyboard and camera) was already listed in the Blaze Themes Section here and actually is like 5 posts down. I'm not so sure we need this here.
