I put my 32 GB microSD card through a ****load of tests on my desktop to ensure it works (http://www.iozone.org/ FYI, increase to like 30 GB and let it run all night on your desktop). It passed with flying colors, not one skip. I did this because Newegg reported a bunch of QA issues with the 32 GB microSD cards. I wanted to ensure my Wintech card was working flawlessly. It was in my PC.
When I got it in my HTC Arrive WP7, upon the first few videos syncing to the device, Zune reported that my device has stopped responding. It did this a few times after connecting and disconnecting. It even reported a write error at one point. Bad sign...
Then, as I was using the phone, it seem to have 'delays' from starting applications. "delays" from accepting things I click on, before taking action. "Delays" when hitting the back or start button. All of these delays showing a "black screen" for like a full second. Nothing like the rock-solid smoothness I experienced with the phone stock. Something was a miss, and that annoyed me enought o investigate. Reminded me of my HTC Android device (oh *snap*).
What I ended up doing was doing another hard reset, but still had the issues - even before the syncing. There is another option to do a hard reset at the initial bootup. So that's what I was attempting, and here is where I found Calculate CRC Checksum!
Inline Pictures are from this thread
1. With the device powered off: Press the power button and quickly press-n-hold both VOL UP and DOWN volume keys. You will be prompted with a white screen and writing.
2. Go ahead and press VOL DOWN to restore to factory defaults.
3. Let it cycle and press-n-hold VOL UP and DOWN again to get back. Back at the white screen again, press VolUp this time.
This forces a Calculate CRC Checksum to begin. This takes like 30s or a minute or something. Wait until it is done, it will tell you witha benign message of some sort.
EDIT: Turns out, I still have issues with random reboots.
After a lot of research, I've found that you cannot get the fastest "Class 10" kind of cards. That actually ends up hurting you because manufacturers end up sacrificing random access times in order to get the faster read/write.
With our WP7, it's all about how fast you can find the data - not how fast you can read the data.
I've now ordered a Sandisk 32 GB Class 4, as sandisk seems to be the gold standard - and the OEM card is a Sandish 16 GB Class 4.
I'm experiencing exactly the same issues with an SD-Card from Toshiba (Class 4).
Please let us know if it works with the SanDisk Card.

I constantly have to go through 3-4 screens before the 750 gets back to my today screen from startup. For instance, I look at my phone and it has the calendar screen on it, close it and the contact edit screen is up, and so on until finally after clicking through 3-4 unwanted screens I can finally use the phone.
Memory does not recognize. Have 1 gig that won't ever recognize and 2 gig that is hit or miss depending on my treos mood. Who'da thought that windows could program personalities into their rom's?
Anybody else have issues like these? Normally I soft reset and that doesn't last. Thought I had something contacting the screen under the phone plastics but not that either.
I did figure out a good way to clean the internals... Blow through the memory card slot. Cleans out the keyboard and everything.
THanks.
You can go to today screen just by pressing the red end button or the green button. Or alternatively press Start>Today. Don't need to close those programs.
Can't help you with unrecognizable memory card. I don't have that problem.
Just curious, what's your ROM version (Start>Setting>System>About>Phone)? Do you use WM5 or WM6?
Hi there,
I'm having an issue with the my XT720 and hopefully someone can help, or has at least seen something similar. When the phone goes unused for a minute and the screen times out, I can not get it to come back on as expected. If I press the power button, the lights under the four buttons power on, but the screen stays off, and both the screen and buttons don't respond to being touched (ie no noise, no feedback, nothing). If I hold the power button down, it will not stop or start, and I have to do a battery pull (the phone has not been rooted). If I press the power button to lock the phone manually, it can come back to life, but not after a timeout.
This started happening when I replaced the sd card that was included with a new one. I've had occasional issues where it will decide that I don't have an sd card inserted (also fixed by a few battery pulls), so I figured time to get a new / faster sd card. The new one has worked fine in my PC to store data, but once I put it in the phone, this happens.
If I switch back to the old sd card, the screen problem goes away. I've tried formatting the sd card from the phone (as well as from my pc), and it doesn't help.
Any ideas or input is appreciated.
Thanks,
Brandon
I had a similar unpredictable problem. I'm not sure what the core of the problem is but sometimes I suspected the SD-card as you did.
Sometimes the phone didn't show up the display even after a battery pull out. The thing that always helped in MY case was to pull out the battery for 1 hour and the problem disappeared for 1-2 months...
Hope this will help.
did you in anyway modify your phone? that includes rooting etc
i had this problem before but it stopped after i cleared my davik cache and it re populated the directory after i rebooted it. worse case scenario, you might want to try reflashing it.
I've not modified it at all. No rooting, no flashing, nothing. And I'm not keen to reflash it as it's from Wind in Canada, and there is no Wind rom posted. I know others are compatible, but I suspect it would make it harder to get warranty service if it has a BrightPoint rom on it (though I guess I should check the build number and see if it's the same).
I (occasionally) have the same problem. I, on the other hand, have had this issue since I bought the phone back in August of 2010. My phone is rooted, sometimes overclocked, and running standard android 2.1update1. What happens to my phone is that it is in lock mode and I press the lock button and all that happens is the 4 buttons below the screen illuminate but the screen itself does not. To solve it, I do a battery pull and it is back to normal. I don't know specifically what causes it because apparently this problem is also happening in unrooted XT720's. BTW I have never changed my SD card from the 8GB one that came with the phone.
I hate to hear about this issue but I'm glad I'm not the only one having it. I just got my XT711 a few days ago and the screen has done the same thing a few times to me also. I know 1-2 times I just picked up my phone and it did it, another time was when my camera froze, and once even when I paused Angry Birds game until the screen shut off, that time when I pushed the lock/ power button the 4 bottom lights came on and I could here the sounds from my game but my screen was blank. Hasn't done it in a couple of days, so hopefully it just had the flu! If anyone finds out what it is, let me know also because I've seen people with all models of XT phones having it.
Try another SD Card
Thank you, yes I have a new class 10 sd card ordered, so hopefully that cures the problem
Just got my Infuse today (coming from an iPhone). Immediately rooted, unlocked and installed CW Recovery.
Couple quick questions.
#1) How do I get the damned <OPTION/HOME/PREV/SEARCH> bar to stay lit up? It is driving me nuts. It goes out in like 2 seconds after I have touched it. No idea why they did that.
#2) Internal SD vs the microSD card. When I connect via USB MASS STORAGE I don't see any of the folders that I KNOW are on it (Titanium Backup and some others). Are there limitations as to what can be saved on the external SD card?
#3) How do I get ClockworkMod to save backups to the external SD card and not the internal card?
#4) I thought this had SWYPE keyboard option. Can't seem to find it. Never mind! Found SWYPE
Thanks!
you cant control the hard key backlights. when you hit the screen or one of the buttons, theyll light up. my dell streak had a different behavior, turning on only when you hit the actual buttons (not the screen) and staying on for 10 seconds. its just what the hardware is set to do. are you plugging your phone into a mac? i noticed on my macs, itll double up one of the sd cards until you eject that one then you can read and write to the other. i dont have this problem in windows. theres not limitations to the file system except for the 4gb max file size (fat32).

Wow, is that annoying. I either hit the wrong dark button and end up at "HOME" or touch the screen and screw up something else or touch a button and change the volume. Sometimes ya wonder who designed these things. I'm sure those buttons use very little power.
As for the SD issue the problem is folders on the EXTERNAL SD CARD created by for one example Titanium Backup are not visible unless I turn on USB DEBUGGING. If I use it as mass storage they don't show up. Other folders do the same. Hard to explain but I have figured it out and it another strange behavior.
Using a Win7 PC not a Mac.
Keep the Lights On will allow your capacitive touch keys to stay lit. It's still a bit buggy since it hasn't been updated for the Infuse; sometimes the backlights will stay on even after you turn the screen off.
^^
Thanks! There's an app for that!
Edit: Doesn't work very well ..... but it's better than nothing.
If someone ever gets BLN kernel mods working properly this might be more easily tunable from userland. However so far all BLN porting attempts have resulted in bugginess.
I might look into seeing if the timeout can be tweaked up a little as an interim solution. (Depends on if it's userland or kernel. If it's kernel I can probably tweak it, if it's userland someone else will have to do it.)

That sounds promising. I find this "feature" is really a dumb-ass design and probably the most annoying thing I have found (so far) in my first 48hrs with this device.
#1 Some phones have the option, some don't. Check the system settings or third party apps. I know the Samsung Galaxy SII has the option to change the duration of the lights, so check that out.
#2 You need a true file explorer, not just going through it in windows. Root Explorer is great on the infuse (or any android for that matter) and is worth the $5. It lets you truly go through the entire phone.
#3 I'm pretty sure CWM only backs up internal, but I'm not sure. Try using titanium and moving your data to the internal, and then backing it up that way.
#4 Long press on an empty text field and a menu should pop up. Tap "Input Method" and then you can select which keyboard you want to use. Swype is great btw
I have experienced an issue with my TF and I'm writing to see if anyone else is having the same problem. I noticed this when I began to play with chrooting Ubuntu. I created a 4GB image and when copying it from my external SD card to internal /sdcard/ the transformer would "lock up" with a black screen and I had to power cycle to bring it back. After several tries I managed to get the file copied and I successfully chrooted into Ubuntu. I then attempted to apt-get install some software (around 600MB worth) and the TF locked up again. At this point I was convinced there was an memory or I/O issue.
On a hunch, I changed my settings to prevent my TF from sleeping (default is turn off screen after 1 minute). After making this change, I was able to copy large files with no lock ups, install lxde and tons of other software and run it, and the device behaved as expected. As soon as I re-enabled the sleep setting, things would lock up again on long transfers.
So in my experience if the TF sleeps during heavy I/O, it locks up. Not sure if this helps others who have experienced the issue of the TF not waking from sleep, but this definitely was the case for me. Has anyone else run into this or something similar?
This happened running Prime 1.4 and 1.5.
had problems copying files from ext sd to internal sd
What I experienced last night, I was trying to copy a folder (5.4GB total with individual file sizes approx. 10MB each) from the ext. sd to the internal sd and the transformer just shut off at about 20% of the file transfer don't remember if it was timed to coincide with the screen timeout though . I tried to reboot the device and it went into a boot loop. I had to use the 10 second power button push to turn it off then about 20 seconds later it was turning back on by itself and went back into the boot loop, kinda freaked me out, I just got the TF101 a few weeks ago. I forced it off again with the power button. the unit did not seem to be hot, the sd card was a bit warm when I removed it, but not hot. About 30 minutes later I tried rebooting again but into recovery first. It did finally go into recovery, and I wiped the cache, dalvik cache and did the fix permissions, then rebooted and so far it seems to be doing ok. I ended up attaching the USB cable and moved the files that way, did not want to chance killing the TF101.
and yes the screen did go to sleep (set time is 2 minutes) I don't know if this is the issue, but if I try any large file moves between the ext sd and internal sd, I will first disable the screen timeout and see if that helps
I am running the Prime 1.5 ROM with clemsyns kernel, but otherwise nothing special
A few years back I purchased a Flytouch II / Superpad. Installed several custom roms and had no issues. It sat in my parts box for a while and I figured I drag it out and see what I could use it for.
Initially it booted fine (running Tim6...I think) once it was up and running it started lagging and would not respond (Screen got too hot and it stopped seeing my touches)
One of the icons on the screen was a shutdown script pre-loaded. Apparently it had pressed this, the script popped up and I tried to hit close before it shutdown, The script closed and after a little more playing I shut it off by holding the power button down, then sliding the power off slider that came up.
The next day I went to power it up and it just freezes on the android logo screen. No bootanimation, nothing.
Since I'm not shy about taking stuff apart it carefully took it apart and removed the internal sd card (4gb) and made a backup of it using dd. I then loaded an sdcard v4 image I found online, it still just hangs at the green android screen.
Also tried several "brick fixes" here on xda.
If I boot it without an sdcard it says "No Card in Machine!!!" so I think the systems is ok hardware wise.
Any ideas of other steps to take?
Got it figured out. Feel kind of silly.
Just needed to format both cards to fat32 and add the two files from tim6a back to the external card. It booted, reflashed and away it went.
Phew, thought I was going to have to rig up a touchscreen for my computer
