SMS showing wrong hour time - General Questions and Answers

Hello, since i switched to cyanogen with rooting and everything, received messages keep showing the wrong time.
A SMS sent at 7 pm will have the time at 5 pm. I even sent an SMS to myself from the phone...same problem, it says i have sent it 2 hours earlier!
GMT in android settings are ok...the sending SMS time is ok but not the receiving one. Why?

There should be a setting in Cyanogenmod (i cannot remember where it is exactly), try CM settings or maybe in Messages settings, as I was trying Cyanogenmod a few days ago i encountered the same problem, but i fixed it as i told you above.

no such thing...i checked both places. are you sure you solved with that? could you check which options did you tick?

Timezone
I think you have to go into the settings of the date and time, and then change your timezone. It worked for me.

It just doesn't work, i am on GMT +1 which is now +2 because of the change of time. Received message displays two hours earlier time. I could solve the problem by choosing GMT +4 and manually set the time to the correct time...that way received messages display the correct time (two hours later) and my clock shows the correct time...but then every other widget goes crazy because they think i am in GMT +4.....and then display 2 hours late...i am stuck

I noticed this when the time changed for BST last week - I think I got around it by unticking the "Use original timestamps" option in the default messaging app (I use Handcent)

Date/Time Format Issue

A few weeks ago, I installed WM6.1 on my Tilt, using vL26_3.53.502.0_WM6.1_PRO_V1 (not sure who created it).
My issue is that now, even though I have set it to display dates in US format, it is still showing them in UK format.
Also, I cannot seem to get it to display 12 hour time, instead of 24 hour time.
Anyone know if there is a fix for this?
Thanks,
Steve

In the future, please ask in the appropriate thread. This is not a ROM development issue, it's an issue with a specfic ROM.
For starters try looking in
HKLM\nls\overrides
in the regsitry.

Searching a bit will help next time, but:
Check under >Settings >System >Regional Settings> and make sure the region is right, and then under Time you should have Time style look like h:mm:ss. If you have HH, that will skrew it up.
Check under >Settings >System >Clock and Alarms> and make sure your home settings are correct too.
Check them both, make sure they're right, and then soft reset, pushing the power button until it asks if you want to turn the phone off.
You need to go into regional settings to make the change in both date and time. Remember for the time to scroll up to find the time ending in tt. Do a soft reset after changing the settings.
BTW - this has been address a bunch of times already.

[Q] Display message gets checked off for Alarm, email, text WHY?

My fuze has been doing this for the past 4 days. All of the sudden, I get not display notification for emails, text, my alarm in the morning. I go to alarms/notifications setting and they are all checked off. Why the hell does it do that?, everyday I have to go and check them on individually.
yep. noticed that too for Reminders and Beam:autoreceive.
not sure what is causing it yet.
Same here...
Yup, noticed the same thing with "Display message on screen" getting mysteriously unchecked for reminders.
I too, have this problem... I remember when testing the beta of OPERA 9.5, this was a side effect of the beta on my tilt. I wonder if that is the cause of our problems here as well.

What ROM are you running?
The stock ROM from AT(crappy)T
disappearing act
this is also happening to me. i am using NATF 2.3 and this happens to me as well. After I recheck it, it unchecks after a reset. There has to be a hack a fix or something.
solved

Threaded SMS/text order issues

Have any Captivate/Galaxy S forumers experienced the issue where, when replying to a text message right after it is received, your reply is placed BEFORE the text message on the threaded SMS view. It is a superficial issue I suppose, but it can get confusing trying to follow conversations and such.
Has anyone heard of this problem, or even better, a fix for it? I've tried setting the system time a few minutes later/earlier with no real results.
yes i have also noticed this myself. it is a pain sometimes
For me, the replies to my messages are actually date stamped 5 hours backwards so show up muchj earlier in a threaded conversation. I have not been able to find a working fix but a workaround was to install Handcent sms (free in Market). It threads everything properly and is actually a pretty nice widget that shows you the latest texts....
Would love a native fix however so please advise if you've found one...
I had this problem. I fixed it by manually setting the system time.

I'm having the same issue. For me it's related to texts coming from a different time zone. If I manually set my time to the time where the texts are coming from, everything is fine. I've been using Chomp SMS, which is pretty nice, but I'll try Handcent. When I restart the threads are correct sometimes but eventually get messed up again.
For me it's from every single phone number, no matter what the time zone. But i've temporarily fixed it with handcent, though the default sms client is classier looking.
Mine did this as well and to solve the problem go into your settings and manually adjust your clock 1 minute up so if its 12:30 set your clock to 12:31 and this solved my problem, hasnt messed up since i did this

[Q] SMS shows received time not sent time

Hi,
I have a question.. is it possible to change the settings so that text messages that we get show the time as the sent time instead of received time.
I did a search for this on the forums (and google) and i believe someone worked on it for the galaxy s I9000. Is there anything we can do for the Nexus S. I also saw that there is an app called SMS Timestamper fix which adds the correct times to the texts, but i just wanted to know if its possible to fix it in the phone settings itself?
Thanks,
the SMS time fix is only to show received time, not sent time
the sent time should be recorded properly as it uses the time you sent out on your phone

Im not sure if you are thinking the same as me. I dont have any issue with the time being an hour behind the correct time (which is what i understand the time fix is for, but correct me if i am wrong).
The situation I have at the moment is, say i am in an area without reception and people send me smss. I do not receive them, but as soon as i go into an area with reception, all the sms's arrive on my phone. However, the time associated with the sms's is that of when they arrive on my phone (ie when i have just moved back into an area with reception), and not the time they were sent (which would be much more useful).
Hope that makes sense, and sorry if you did understand my problem already.
I have searched in the default messaging app, but i cant find the settings Use original timestamps. Maybe I am missing something.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
I just checked and use original timestamp is there indeed. Check it again man.

very odd indeed... i checked again, i went to messaging app (the default one with the green bubble icon with smiley face), settings, and definitely not there for me. I see settings for delivery reports, but not a "use original timestamp".
I am running the deodexed stock rom with voodoo kernel, posted by master, perhaps this is causing the issue? (i actually believe i have never seen this setting on my phone even when i was running 100% stock with normal kernel).
Is there anyway i can reinstall the default messaging app?

All Day Calendar Notifications Not Working

All of my all day calendar notifications go off hours after they are suppose to. I have tried using multiple different calendar apps (stock, google calendar, today calendar, etc). They all do the exact same thing. If an all day notification is suppose to go off at 9AM it will alert me at 6PM. Calendar events that are set for a certain time work fine. Anyone have a fix for this?

I have similar problem! I haven't found any fix. Seems like firmware bug.

You need to go in Advanced setting>Battery Manager>Protected Apps and turn protection on for the Application in question or it won't run i the back ground.
Backup, Hard reset, restore.
Try setting battery mode to performance to see if it still happens.
Protect app in phone manager, battery.

I don't think that it helps. Reminders of "usual" events works perfectly. Only reminders of All-day events are notified in wrong times. Of course, Google calendar is set as protected app..
You could try it to rule those causes out.

Yes, on all of my other devices they work correctly.
Pretty sure it's a bug with the software app, as mine is experiencing it as well. Hopefully can be fixed with a software update.

Today I did a factory reset to see if that would help my time delay problem. Unfortunately, it did not. However what I did notice is that when I set a calendar reminder to go off at 9AM on my phone it shows up as 12AM on my Google Calendar.

Is your phone's time zone the same as your Google calendar?
I don't experience such issue on my phone, so I guess it's not really a software bug.....

The time zone is correct. I called Huawei and they said they did not know why it was happening and that I would have to send my phone in. However, they could to guarantee anything.
The issue is still not fixed....
I also have an Honor 8 and when I set an alarm for an all-day event, the alarm goes off 9 hours after the initial setting. For example, if I set an alarm to go off at 6pm it will actually go off at 3am which is annoying and woke me up in the middle of the night. I am glad I am not the only person with this problem. Hopefully there will be a fix. In the meantime, I just have to adjust the alarm to a time that is 9 hours before I actually want it to go off.

That issue drives me nuts, to the point I got a new phone. Problem Solved! I will never buy another Honor phone.
the all day events have a notification time calculated as in "X day(s) before the event, at specific hour Y" ....from what I can see on my notifications huawei wrongly interpret this as "X day(s) before the event + Y hour(s) before the event" . In my case, for example, when I set on Google Calendar (web) for an all day event notification for that specific day at 9AM setting "0(zero) days before , at 10AM" huawei calendar show it as "0 days before and -10 hours before" (-10 hours before should be exactly 10 hours after which is 10AM) but the notifications is displayed 9 hours later than it should (7PM). Also the "at the start of the event" seems to be 9 hours off ( notification at 9AM ). I had no time to do extensive testing , but seems to be something wrong with the calendar backend on the huawei phones firmware as installing different Calendar apps (including the official Google Calendar app) don't solve the "all day events" notification problem (I have a P10 , bug is present in both 7.0 and 8.0beta Android versions) .....And , it seems that "all day events" that have notifications set 1 (or more) days before and no specific hour, work as expected (or maybe I just didn't noticed the bug on this ones due to not being so critical to have a specific hour 1 week before the event for example ) .
