How Do I Change The Radio FROM My Phone? - HTC Inspire 4G

The radio I have is super slow and I was wondering how do I change it from my phone not the computer
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App

What exactly do you mean by your radio is slow......
Your going to need a computer, so you can check the file before you flash it.

I had this old radio that gave me better service and this one dont. Anyway I can flash it back from my phone?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App

You can.
BUT I strongly STRONGLY recommend waiting until your at a computer. You need to check the file before you flash it. You could brick your phone completely, making it totally inoperable if the radio you flash is corrupted.

Realize also that ATT's network seems to be VERY inconsistent lately. Youll most likely see no better performance out of the new radio as its probably all network side. I've tried all the radios, and there all up and down day to day. The last few days though it seems my data speeds have gotta more consistent than they were for the last few weeks

Alright thanks all you guys ill just wait

Benefits of flashing recommended radio & ril with rom?

I have read & read & read & want to know what's the benefit or advantages to flashing a recommended radio for a Rom versus using the stock rooted radio?
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA Premium App
I see you have been asking around about this with no responses, I cant give you the best advice but from my experience i never had any better signal or gps lock on with the recommended radios. some radios will help get better signal and GPS but most of time it's no better then the stock radio.
So the recommended radio isn't necessarily going to be any better.
Well its a personal choice. Like with different roms they recommend certain radios. My advice to you is,try different radios with ril files. But don't flash and say "I see no improvement." Let the radio get settled in and then after 2-3 days, judge for yourself. Keep trying different ones till you find out suitable for you and your area. They affect battery life, data connection, gps, and signal strength for your area. So the only reason they recommend certain radios,is because when tested, they provided the best results. So flash away till your happy

I've noticed in many posts, the recommendation is to "let the radio settle in for a couple days", and i'm presuming that is the best way to test battery results with a specific rom.
But, should a person be able to see immediate results regarding signal strength when flashing different radios? I ask because my home is in a location where signal strength can be spotty, and usually that is may reasoning for trying new radios.
Well I've flashed two radios, stock and the newest ota radio. And I've seem 13hrs + while using a DHD ROM. Because its been 1 week and great results. So imo,yes within that first day u may notice more bars and data speeds increased.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
The reason the ROM's recomend a radio is because that is the RIL files loaded in the ROM, if Im not mistaken.. As long as you flash the matching RIL file to the radio you are using all should be good.
I can't really tell any difference in GPS signal or Internet speed with any of the radios.
I can say that I have been using the radio in my sig for 3 weeks now and i do get better phone reception than any other radio.
Well I'm using a way different radio for a DHD ROM and getting 4.15mbps down and 1.45mbps upload.

I'm going to make the attempt of flashing a radio and ril file. Worst case scenario, I don't see an improvement, where do I find the stock radio and ril files to flash back?

Here's the link to the radio. Use the one in the second post.

As for the ril. You can go into rom manager >gtg>ril flasher> select 26.06.06.30 and flash it through recovery.

Have you tried using a different Rom? Can you get into your boot loader? If so perhaps try wiping and reinstalling a new Rom if problem persists try another radio and ril. I lost data connection once from flashing a recommended radio for a certain Rom, I restored my connection by finding a generic ICS radio/ril file. I first flashed radio, then matching ril and my data connection returned. You can give this a try before giving up. Use the generic ICS radio /ril combo as they are more apt to work easily. Sometimes it takes trying a few to get the connection correct for your area. I really hope this works for you! It worked for me when my data connection was wiped. I'm hoping it's a simple fix like this. If this does not work the problem MUST be internal. But do give it a try! It very well could work. I wish you the best! Also when getting radio don't forget the ril. Best wishes! Hoping this works for you!

[Q] 4G LTE issues with CleanRom 5.0

Hi all,
i have some questions about CleanRom 5.0 however i don't have the authority to post in it's forum, so i'm hoping someone can help me out here.
overall the rom is incredible, my only issue is the speed of my 4g lte network. it is much slower than what i am used to.
using speed test i consistently get about 12mbps down and 8mbps up, however if i go back to my stock nandroid backup so my phone is like it was before i went to cleanrom i used to consistently get about 23mbps down and 16mbps up. is this normal for cleanrom and if not is there a way to fix it because now the speed is about half of what it used to be.
i should probably also mention that i flashed the new radio and rpm that scrosler provided links to in the second post of the cleanrom forum
I've seen it stated many times that roms won't affect connection. Likely it is the new radio you flashed. You can always try flashing the old radio and rpm. Someone with s little more experience may have more insight.

Gotta agree with this. Roms do not change/impact your signal.
OP, flash another set of modem/rpm or even return to what you used before. Personally, my data speeds were below what I'm used to when using the latest modem/rom. My experience is nothing more than anecdotal and a single trial. I switched back to a prior modem/rpm combo and have enjoyed my normal speeds/LTE access.

@Snappyts
@SlimSnoopOS
Thank you both very much for the responses. I will try flashing the old modem and rpm to see if that solves the issue.

[Q] Will a different radio fix this?

Hi everyone, I'm running CM10.0.0 Skyrocket with UCLD2 modem. I live in Jupiter, FL and when I am traveling through town and pass through areas that switch between HSPA, 3G, and 4G, I often have to toggle airplane mode to get data back. Is this due to my radio? I was doing research in the forum about the various radios and I couldn't find a definitive comparison of the various modems to each other with a chronology of release. I'd guess that newer modems are better, but then I read that sometimes that's not the case. Anyone care to weigh in on why I lose data connection when traveling through different data zones? btw i checked my APN settings and theyre fine.
I too run into the same issue but when I'm at work I know that if you running jb data loss has been known to be an issue with it yes the newer the modem can potentially fix or issue depending on situation best option is test

What particular modem are you using?
I'm open to suggestions from anyone for a modem to flash.

Flash them and see how it works for you. It takes all of 30 seconds

Sounds like a handoff issue. Try CI3

Thank you for the suggestion, I flashed it last night and so far so good.

Just an update, things still seem good with CI3 compared to my old radio. Only thing I notice is it doesn't really like 4G data, it'll say 4G and have good bars, and I can make and receive calls fine. But if I go online it'll stall, and I'll watch it struggle and then swap to H+ and be fine. That’s the only remaining quirk. Not sure why it's doing that.

I know no one is following this post at this point but I thought I'd post a final update about how i resolved the last issue I mentioned in the post above, just in case someone else has this same issue and searches the forum later.
I fixed my reception with 4G accidentally, i flashed the Lightning Zap v3 kernel to improve battery and lo and behold, reception hand off is fixed!!

TMO radio data sucks.

Hello I've been trying to find a answer to my problem for a while, but can't seem to find any help. So to start off I unlocked my s2 I've flashed 3 different roms and a few different T-Mobile radios, but my data is very poor sometimes it works sometimes not it constantly drops if anyone can offer some advice I'd really appreciate it.
As of now my sgh-i727 is unlocked running on cm10 superlite and the telus radio.
Sry if this has been answered b4 I'm new to the dirrent radios

This thread will probably help. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1507825
It probably also depends on your location, too. In the Bay Area and LA, SlimBean w/ a Blaze (LB7) radio has worked just fine for me.
Thanks. I've read over that post a few times. I was using blaze lb7 for a bit but then I started to test others once the data drops and very poor speeds occurred. Also I live in MS I generally have great reception.

I'm lucky to get a 1meg down and up when it actually holds the data signal. I'm actually on straight talk but with the ST tmo sim as my back up phone is the LG g2x. Maybe I didn't flash correctly, but I have tried flashing multiple times and no which radio or rom combo its the result slow speeds and constant drops. Another note my g2x fantastic in my area in ST

Well so far after flashing both radios then ROM after a full wipe of course I'm noticing a big difference. Speed test results were a lot better as well I'm gonna keep test driving it for a while and make sure it keeps going strong

I seem to get better data speeds on stock-based ROMs. I'm running cm10.0.0 just because I prefer it over stock and I can deal with the slower speed.

One little update I have noticed that my data switches a lot between E/3g/H+ data still works but I have noticed its draining the battery rather quick. My g2x does not show these symptoms my signal stays strong in my house with it.
