I have a nook color rooted and as a default it loads from the sd card. My question is this; is it possible to create a boot image that could be flashed to the TB that could do the same? This could stop (or reduce) the chances of bricking. Taking it even further, if possible, maybe make vol up on boot CWM, vol down, internal boot, and normal boot from SD. Anyone know if this is possible? Desireable?
On paper this sounds good but I think loading off SD will kill the card faster.
But I'm just paranoid
I wouldn't think that would be too much of a problem. I haven't fried any sd cards on my nook yet.
id also like to know if this is possible with the Droid incredible dual boot way off the emmc
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1100777
not sure if this would work or if with the emmc issues that may or may no caused the issues with ginger bread brick age.

hi everybody. I really need help for my axim x50v.
I can't use my axim. when I turn on, progress bar stop when it reach +- 85%, even when I try to hard reset and soft reset.
before the "accident" (this error I mean), I put my axim on bag and not use it for 2 days. then when I want to use it, my axim can't boot. anyone can't help me? thanks
hello, anyone can help me?
is it possible to backup all data in ROM when unit can't enter the system/windows?
If you tried to hard reset then you already lost your data.
When a device can't boot after two days without use it can be the result of low battery.
Charge you Axim for 24 hours and see if that helps.
re
of course I've charged the battery before try to power on. oh dear, anyone can help me?
i had exactly the same problem and i got round it by using the sd card boot loader.
copy the rom file and boot loader to a formatted sd card (fat32 if using wm6 rom)
hold wireless button and power button down and while holding them jab the reset button , wait for the boot loader to apear on screen and then release the buttons,
i have had no problems since
@hibeebri
may I get more detail about sd loader? oh dear, hope that way can solve my problem.now I really miss my axim.
hi hibeebri
now i have sd loader, and here what I've done:
- format sd 1gb FAT32
- copy file sd loader to root on sd card
- insert sd card to axim
- I insert battery to axim, then press power+wireless, then reset
- after that, the screen show "to restore factory setting....", same sentences when I wanna hard reset
- so I press contact button, then, it only boot with screen as soft reset.
so, where's the wrong? can you guide me detail for use sd loader?
thanks for your help
about my post above, please ignore it, now I being update image use wm6 a02..
somehow the process still 10%, not moving up
oh dear, I feel just wanna cry out for my axim....
may I interrupt the process and repeat again? is it will cause other damage?
finally, it works, after I re-update use sd loader. my first sd card have memory error. manythanks for Maglite as owner sd loader and hibeebri. Now I'm so happy.
by hte way, my backp battery is reported low. can I change it manually, I mean I uncover backup battery from its cover, then I search model of its battery, and insert to its cover. I think it is not wise to buy packet backup battery (battery include its cover) from another country, because price unit smaller than flight fee
thanks again to maglite and hibeebri
Yes i have posted this in the Topaz forum and got no replies so i thought i may get more answers here
Im not new to flashing, upgrading, modifying my phone
I have searched prior to posting my problem.
Heres whats wrong, basically my phone is stuck on the boot screen after flashing NhatHoa 7.0..I have the latest HARDSPL on the device, connecting the device to the USB cable does nothing, no light to indicate charging nor no connection to active sync.
So i tried to flash from SD card, formatted my 8Gb card, renamed custom rom to TOPAIMG.nbh, went into bootloader, followed the on screen instructions and still nothing (like it doesnt even recognize the SD Card)
I then tried a 2Gb SD Card, formatted using FAT32, copied the nbh over, did exactly as above, again nothing.
I have searched, tried many of things which should work but nothing.
I cant have bricked my device because i can still enter boot loader and see the boot screen, but thats it.
Any Ideas??
Regards, Wez
edit
Ok so i just bought a 1Gb SD Card and still it doesnt read the card, im officially clueless now as to what i can do..i have formatted the card in every possible way NTFS, FAT, FAT32, even changed the allocation size which again did nothing.
I also downloaded a rom were it was already name TOPAIMG.nbh just incase there was something in the file attributes which were different and again nothing.
IF anybody has any solutions please, let me know.
Update
If this is important or usefull the device does charge when switched off, i can enter bootloader and i can switch the phone on in which it gets stuck on the 'Touch Diamond 2' screen
I have a Desire that is running Clockworkmod Recovery V2.5.0.7 and while I was attempting to flash the the new gingervillan ROm the whole thing crashed and hang for 60 minutes. I pulled the battery and now it will not reboot and the phone will not mount the SD card so I cant re flash the rom. I have tried installing the stock RUU roms but they just say it cant connect to the phone. I have checked the sdcard on different devices and phones and it is not corrupt.
Any help please to unbrick my sd card reader?
Fixed the issue by placing the SD card in an old NOKIA N95 and formated via the phone, this for some reason fixed the issue and the Desire could then read it.
My desire just wet the bed too, failing to recognise SD cards and with SIM card connectivity blinking on and off. The irony was that this only happened after attempting a "read-only" nandroid backup. Try restoring a nandroid backup when even recovery can't detect your sd card.
I was surprised though that the instructions on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=880268 seemed to work after a few false starts. Initially I just wanted it to have the name of my provider on the spash screen so that I could return it as it's under warranty but now it works so I'll just hang onto it.
Don't let "unroot" put you off - you can always re-root afterwards.
NOTE 1: Match the *major* radio version to your existing radio, or the upgrade will fail on the radio step
NOTE 2: Run it a few times - for some reason even though it may fail the first time, it gets a little further on subsequent efforts. On my last attempt it said the partition step failed, then I tried to boot and it worked fine.
I was convinced it was a hardware failure but it turns out hboot could read the sd card fine using this method, and just recovery / the rom couldn't find it.
Edit: One more point: when you look in your device manager in windows, the device will appear as pid_0000 and vid_0000.
Thanks heaps

Hey guys,
I'm new here and I looked around for an answer to my question but the posts I read were either non applicable or didn't work. Please if this has already been answered feel free to redirect me, thanks.
I have a galaxy nexus and I recently rooted it and flashed a custom ROM (Eagles Blood for 4.1.1) as well as installing Google Apps from sdcard in boot recovery screen. I have rooted several phones and flashed countless ROM's but I am stuck and I don't know what to do... Each time I boot up my phone it refuses to boot and loads directly to the bootloader screen. I can switch to boot recovery but that's about it. I can't get it properly boot the life of me..
I have tried re-wiping data/factory reset as well as wiping all caches and reflashing the ROM + GAPPS. I am unable to put another ROM on it because I can't mount the SD card and transfer another .zip ROM to it.
I also DID NOT make a backup because, well idk why I didn't but there is no backup whatsoever so if anyone has any ideas as to how to fix this please let me know.
You could always use a usb card reader for the sd card and put another rom on it via your computer and then try again

I think with the galaxy nexus the SD card is built in, what I mean is that when I take out the battery the only other thing I can remove is the sim card.
Hey guys!
So, my friend brought me his old phone which she dropped in the water. The phone won't charge and won't start up with battery connected. So I disassembled it and disconnected the battery. Also, touch screen does not work. Now the phone shows some signs of life but it's stuck in the honor logo. It shows the honor animation a few times and then get to eRecovery. The phone is not unlocked or modified in any way. Is there any chance I can recover photos from this phone?
Hey ya!
Well, the situation looks pretty bad here dude. First of all, the phone isn't unlocked so it's not possible to flash a custom recovery like TWRP in way to internally move files from internal to external storage, into an SD card. Secondarily, the touch screen does not work, so even if the phone would have been unlocked you wouldn't be able to input commands in this way. In the end, /data partition usually runs encrypted in EMUI, so this is another obstacle when we talk about recovering stuff from /data and the device doesn't boot. I understand you because it happened to me 2 times already, so i know what it feels, but if you did not backup or save data prior to this, then you are at an impasse. You'll need to start over.

Welp, that's what I thought. Thanks anyway! I already told her to up her game in terms of backups etc.
