[Q] Xoom will not connect to Netgear Router - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
Sorry to ask the question but I am hoping someone could assist as I have searched everywhere with no luck.
I got my WIFI Xoom today imported from the US to Australia. The Xoom will not connect to my NetGear Wifi Router and just keeps on trying to Authenticate.
I tried to connect to my Desire also through the Hotspot on the phone and that worked OK.
Is anyone able to assist me with troubleshooting this problem.
Much Appreciated.
Edit: Sorry Mods you can delete as the problem was solved by Netgear.

What was the solution?

I'm having the same problem with my Encore router. My laptop and iPhone connect to it just fine, but my Xoom just doesn't like it. (I've tried all sorts of configurations. SSID broadcast, different security types, etc)

Not sure this will help, but I had a similar issue with a NOOK Color. Tried connecting to a D-Link DIR-615 (Wireless-N) and experienced issues similar to what youre describing. Tried everything you described with no success. Finally changed my wireless standard to (B and G) vice (B,G,N) and the nook connected. Strange as the Nook is "N" compatible, but thats what finally got me connected.
Havent had that experience with the xoom but if your out of ideas give it a try.

my problem is my netgear router-n doesn't have that good of a connection just a room away. (It gives me two bars) At work a d- link router works great all bars. Any suggetions?

[Q] Can't find wifi

My eee pad can search and find wifi signals and can connect to my neighbours wifi but it can't find mine at all.
I added it manually but it says out of range.
I really don't know why it can't pick it up.
Any help is appreciated.

Do you have a 5GHz Wifi? I believe the Transformer only supports 2.4 GHz.
BR-6475nD its that. on virgin internet.
It does 2.4 and 5 at the same time.
Strange that it can connect to all the others and doesnt even find this one.
Please help
Some Android devices have problems connecting to certain WiFi devices unless you use static IP. I know I did with my old Linksys WRT54GS and the nook color and EVO 4G. Try setting the connection as a static IP.
Yours set up to use a certain channel or is it on auto?
i had the exact same problem with mine when i got it. I never had a problem with my android phone or laptop conecting to my wifi, just the transformer when i got it. I had to change channel on my router, i found some channels that didn't work a t all and some that inermittantly worked. I ended up using channel 1 of all channels.
Ive just picked mine up about 30 minutes ago, I had the same issue with a Sky router (UK). It was set to channel 12, I changed it to 10 and all is ok

[Q] WIFI Connection Issue Asus Transformer

Hey,
Was wondering if anyone had any solutions to this issue.
I can connect to my router with the asus transformer, successfully get an IP, but can not connect to the external web. I can make internal connections, but again, nothing external. I have no problem with my samsung sgs i9000m, various laptops, ipod touch, etc etc..
The router in question is a speedtouch 780 (dsl modem, voip, and router in one). Ive tried various encryption schemes, and even tried to leave it open but to no avail.
I can create a wifi network with both my imac, and with my samsung sgs and the transformer can connect, and also move internet data!
Very weird, I dont even know where to start trouble shooting, can anyone help?

Sounds daft but i assume to have tried rebooting the router .... my router occasionally gets confused based on the sheer number of wifi hardware we have in the house .... otherwise have you tried changing the wifi channel ? read somewhere else that people were having problems with channel 13 ???
hey thanks for the reply.
Yes probably rebooted the router a half dozen times, restored firmware, no go.
Ive bounced around a few channels, doesnt seem to have any effect.
Im really stumped!

no not via the router, the little wifi icon at the bottomcorner stays gray (means connected, but not to the google servers, it goes blue when it does connect to the google servers.)
It does connect and go blue when i create a wifi network from my cell phoneusing my cell data connection

yeah im thinking its a router issue.
i can see the transformer, it appears to look exactly the same as all other wifi devices that connect to the router...
stumped =/
Under your wifi settings long press your wireless network under the list of networks available, you should get a "modify network " link pop up, change the setting from DHCP to Static and enter your settings manually. Had a similar issue with an iPod touch once, wouldn't go on the internet unless it had a static address even though all settings were identical to what it pulled from the router using DHCP.
Update Transformer firmware? Leaked official 3.1 is out has updated wifi drivers too.
If no go after that, factory reset the Transformer.

I have the same problem with my TF101, I did all of the above, but the WIFI indicator stays grey. I have a good connection with my router.
When I connect with the router at my work, I have the same. So, the problem is TF101 related. When I bought it two weeks ago, it worked. Two days ago I flashed Prime 1.4, and that worked too. Since yesterday I have this problem, and I tried all to solve it. Other firmware, factory reset....everything. Can somebody please help me with this?
Not sure what this issue is, I never had it with the previous WiFi build, only after the 3.1 changes. I have had several occasions where sitting within 5 ft of router, it would not connect. reboot solved it each time, but I have noticed that it appears dependent on when you unlock during the boot sequence. If you let the boot sequence complete before unlocking, it never happens. If you unlock during the boot sequence, it might.
ASUS Tech Support please note.
@rumbleweed : thanks for the response!
Update : I pushed the original 3.0.1 WW blob to /data/local/ with ADB to unroot my TF101. After that the WiFi icon stayed gray, but I had a working internet connection. Later I updated it to WW 3.1. To be sure I did a factory reset, and now it is working again. First the WiFi notification icon stays gray for a few minutes, but after that it went to blue. I have a unrooted 3.1 WW TF101 now, but I'm happy!

Hi i had this same problem when i first unboxed my Asus TF, Wifi said i was connected to my Linksys router, and i even had an IP address but no internet.
In my frustration y plugged it to my PC which is connected with an ethernet cable to the router and voila, internet icon changed from grey to blue and 2 small arrows started to appear. The internet was now working and i updated the thing from 3.0 to 3.2.
Not sure why this happened but ever since that time i have no problems connecting even on different routers and modems.
Hope this helps.
Had this problem myself from unboxing, tried everything suggested and still no joy.
went and got a linksys router to replace my dlink, everything working fine. tried it with a few networks now and seems to be a problem with dlink routers.
I have this same issue at my school. Up until 3 weeks ago it would always give me blue, then randomly it started staying on white. I can use the net, just not connect to the Google servers.
It works fine everywhere else.
Strange.
Try playing with the wifi disconnect policy?
having a different problem here. been using my home internet since unboxing. all was fine. then one day the connection was grayed. tried rebooting and everything didnt work. i went to setting, clicked forget network. then it never appeared again.
and yeah, its a dlink router. any help ?
Problem: fixed!
I had a solid wifi connection most of the time, complete with a solid blue wifi icon. But my wifi was EXTREMELY slow and intermittent. After a great deal of forum searching and trying every possible suggestion, the solution that finally worked for me was to change the channel on my router from 'Auto' to 6. Flawless connection now, and no more dropped signal.
Hi there,
I tried one thing - took off the lock feature from my transformer and now it's back to normal.
If I turn it back on I am back to square one.
Can anyone figure out how the lock feature affects the WIFI connection ? Is there a bug and is there a fix ?

Jumping in a bit late, but am having similar issues. Just got my TF but have not been able to connect to my dlink router (dir-655 - onlyl couple months old). The router works fine for everything in the house. I know the settings well and have tried many things (went through all channels one by one, messed with different WPA security options, even removed security, etc). Nothing allows me to even connect to the router/network.
In the Wifi settings is jut keeps saying 'connecting...' and 'scanning...' over and over. I am about to take this thing back as I really can't buy a new router at this point (no new firmware for router is available by the way, I checked).
Has anyone confirmed that dlink routers can work with the TF and if so, what are the settings you are using (channel, WPA security settings, dhcp or static, etc)?? This driving me nuts. I want to keep this TF but won't if I can't get it to work at home.
Oh and by the way, when I use my Droid Inc 2 as a hotspot with WPA security, the TF connects without issue. So the TF appears to be fine, it is definitely related to the dlink router.
Thanks!

WiFi problem with finding access point

Hi,
I'm a new owner of TF700
I've turned it up and have to say that I was impressed.
Right after that I encountered a problem with WiFi not finding my router (WRT54GL). The router's WiFi works (it is normally found by my PC, HTC One S, iPhone on daily basis). The TF700 finds tons of WiFis in the building except mine.
I also tried to manually add the WiFi and I just get-not in range. I tested if the WiFi works with creating a hotspot on my HTC One S and it worked.
Did anyone encountered such a problem/has a solution?
Thank you!

Hi,
I got the same problem after updating my TF700 to version V10.4.4.20
Is anybody has it resolved?
SSID gone on my Transformer
I have the same problem. Before Cyanogen mod 10 on my Transformer 101, my Netgear VVG2000 WPA2/PSK encrypted wifi ap worked fine, but after mod installation I can't se my SSID. It works fine on my SG2 and I can connect and see other wifi networks. Can it be because the MAC address has changed and the router blocks it or...? I also tried to change encryption mode to no avail. It has happened once before with a laptop and a never NIC software fixed it.
Hmmm...

What channel is the router using? If you are in the US and it is 12+ you may have and issue with it.

Wifi extender issue

Grettings everyone, I have been facing an issue for quite sometime now regarding my S3 and my wireless N-Extender (Cisco RE1000), whenever I'm connected to my router i get full speed internet and everything is fine, However when im connected to my extender I do get full signal but no internet, the extender works perfectly with my iPhone 4, but none of my android devices (S3,Acer iconia tab A501,Asus transformer TFT101), I tried using a static Ip address to no avail, and using Wifi fixer app didn't fix the problem either. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You!
What's the status on this issue, was it resolved?
Last night I tried out a wifi extender at home and it worked perfectly with my cellphone not so much with my TF101. Basically wifi speed stayed the same not a dramatic change like on my cell.

[Q] Versus 7 - Wifi Repeater 'Connecting...'

Hi there, I've had a lot of help through this forum in using my Android tablet without registering, so I thought this could be the best place to ask a question that's beginning to wreck my head.
I have a Versus 7 Touchpad, and while I know it's just a rebranded something or other made in China, it's actually a decent tablet for the price of €100. Anyway, recently I installed the TPlink TL-WA730RE wireless repeater at home and just have had no luck in getting the tablet to connect to the repeater whatsoever. My android phone (Xperia T), my wife's Nokia E5 and my Compaq PC all connect to the repeater fine and can browse the web/network no problem. However, the tablet just says 'connecting' (to the network) but then reverts back to 'saved, secured with WPA' etc. I know it's trying to connect because if I log onto the repeater through my PC every few minutes the MAC address of the tablet appears along with the status of 'STA -ASSOC', which I think means that the unit is trying to associate with the repeater, but then it just disappears. It may be worth noting at this point that the tablet connects to my TPlink TL-WR841N wireless router running DD-WRT no problem.
I've tried almost everything I can think of, like 'forgetting' the network and reconnecting, ensuring MAC address filtering is disabled, trying static instead of DHCP, resetting my router and repeater etc etc. I even tried apps such as 'wifi strongest signal' from the app store which connects you to the strongest access point in your house if you're using a repeater and walking around. The latest thing I did was to install CM10 on the rooted tablet and everything works apart from the wifi with the repeater, so it wasn't a fault with the original image. Also, the tablet was running ICS 4.0.4 I think, which was the same version of Android as my Xperia T, which connects perfectly.
The last thing I can think of trying is updating the repeater firmware, or installing DD-WRT on it also, but I'm loathe to do that seeing as all of my other equipment is working fine. Other than that maybe there is some sort of updated wifi driver I could try for the tablet itself??
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Just incase anyone else has similar problems with this or any other android tablet, I managed to solve the problem after weeks of headaches.
The problem was that my TPLink wifi repeater's channel width was set to 'auto', where I had other options of 20mhz and 40mhz. Once I paired these with my router -i.e- both the router and the repeater were both set to a wireless channel of 20mhz, my tablet worked perfectly fine. Obviously some equipment can handle the difference in channel width, just not the Versus 7 Touchpad wifi.
Hope this helps someone in the future.
