[Q] i dont see a Xperia Pro forum. Any way to add one? - General Questions and Answers

so there has been alot of hype about the new xperia line-up, but for some reason not much on the xperia pro. Clearly its the best one. A qwerty! so I want to create forum for it. These phones are coming with unlocked bootloaders of some sort! also supporting timescape and so many other awesome features. lets get the hype going and get a petition to get this phone coming to AT&T usa. It looks like it has the same specs. I wish it would come to Tmobile, but that is asking to much. Anyways can someone help me get this thread to the right area of the forums.

I dont know how to go about opening the forums for it but I do agree its the best xperia for me out of the new ones (unless the arc had a keyboard).
Hopefully it wont be too expensive once its out. I'll be selling my Droid 2 Global to get the xperia pro.

I'll also be getting one, hopefully in silver. It's beautiful.

iPhone 3G

This one is for the Admins.
I know the iPhone is not well liked on xda but there are some people on here (like myself) that have one just because they could get it at a good price.
(I am by no means an Apple fanboy)
I have a jailbroken 8GB iPhone 3G and would like to request a section on the forum for the iPhone please.
My reason: I really like this forum and I think that some of it's members could really help to make some interesting mods for the iPhone (eg. maybe porting Android or developing a method to use the iPhone without the restrictions of iTunes etc.) so it would be nice to see what people can do with the technology.
Please consider it.
Thanks!
no not unless its made by htc. the iphone is not made by htc. theis site is devoted to all phones made by htc
i was gonna suggest my site in my signature but i would have the iphone on there as it mac not windows os
and between you and me if you think you got the iphone for a good price then ur insane as most htc phones are fee on uk networks contracts, oh yes that includes o2
mate, i love my iphone just as much as ive loved any of my wm devices...
but this just isnt the place for an iphone forum, its like having a n96 forum
google for iphone forums, im sure they exist, and are probably working on that stuff already
hmm i think it should stay the way it is man
theres alot of webpages i mean ALOT of the iphone there like 3 or 4 for the htc..
so yeah just google
iphone apps or iphone forum
I will ignore most of the first reply because it's just plain negative and rude.
(btw. I don't live in a country where all the big network providers reside. I bought my iPhone cash at a good price in my country where it needed to be imported.)
For the other responses, I can't say I'm not disappointed but fair enough. I just asked since I saw that there is a section for the Sony Ericsson Xperia (http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=470) which is also not an HTC so I though maybe they'd be willing to add the iPhone as well.
(The developers on this site are certainly smart enough to make some awesome mods for the phone and perhaps even figure out how to sim-unlock the 3G version.)
Response accepted, thanks anyway!

Click to collapse
And that is where you are wrong! The SE XPERIA X1 is manufactured by HTC!
BTW: I can't find that much "rudeness" or "negativity" in the replys. Let's blame it on the rain!
Allready discussed.
Not an HTC Device.
Not a WM device.
It's not going to happen..

Would like some input regarding new phone, Xperia X8 or Huawei U1850

First off, my apologies if this isn't the right place. I didn't see a "general hardware" forum and by my reckoning, this was the best place for such a thread.
Anyways, I'm looking to upgrade into a smart phone. I'm not a texter, and I don't want or need a data plan so I'm not looking for a particularly high end phone. So I'm looking at sub $200 Android phones. So far I've come up with either the Xperia X8 or Huawei U1850. Both older, and therefore much cheaper. The U1850 can be had for $140, the X8 for $40 more.
I've been searching on the forums and looking around but to be honest, there are simply too many threads and too much info for me to all compile together.
Hardware wise the X8 comes off much better, with a superior screen in size and res and a beefier processor, so I'm liking that. But my main questions are about third software support. I know the X8 is EOL and Sony Ericsson doesn't update it anymore, but community support seems to be strong and thriving. The U1850 seems to have a large community behind it as well. Basically, which phone can have more stuff unlocked and which one would still have people working on it in another year or so.
From what I've gathered, both phones can be overclocked, the U1850 can be made to work with multitouch while X8 development is stalled on that matter. 802.11n can be enabled on the X8 while the U1850 has it enabled stock.
Thanks guys.

[Q] A Xoom2 / Xyboard forum?

Hey guys, I was wondering, what is the process to have a Xoom2 / Xyboard forum opened?
I'm guessing we need more members owning them and posting about them. Plus they just came out, add to that the locked bootloaders (...effin Motorola) and we're not going to see much development.
Plus Motorola quietly brought it to the market, with older hardware, and a pricetag that isn't too appealing.
Also the Xyboards are CMDA tabs and not GSM. GSM devices always have more devs and currently with no WiFi version, you are locked into buying from Verizon (for the US that is) for $500 to $600 w/out a contract or $350 to $450 w/ a 2 year. That really really hinders the potential customer base.
I, however, do wish we had a forum for them as I'm really wanting to make the jump on one.
Ok, thanks for this reply it makes sense. I will play around and try to find a way to unlock it but I'm not an advanced dev so I might not be very useful on this
I'm really bummed out about this. I bought one on eBay to skirt around the Verizon contract. It's a really cool tablet. ICS would look great on this thing. It's built really well and it's thin. What a shame that I'll have to flip this thing without ever experiencing its full potential.
But I will be looking out for a forum in the future.
Add me to the list of the xyboard owners looking forward to a xyboard forum.
Xyboard enthusiast
I would also love to see a forum on the Xyboard. I recently purchased one and am quite pleased with it so far. There are a few things I would like to see if they are issues just with my tab or systemic.
Me too on my 8.2
I'd like to see such a section also.
Xyboard 8.2 WiFi only.

What is the best Phone..!!

Hi at all.. well i'm thinking on buy a new phone for me.. so i like read your opinons about the best phones..!! for you..!! i like buy a phone that be the latest but that have a lot of new tools.. I think that the Glaxy Note is great.. but it's important for me know about your opinion because.. your have more experience than I.. Thanks..!!
If the galaxy note is your type of device, then go for it. I personally dont like the screen size. Also, it usually wise to wait a week or two after a release to see how the developer forum for that device lights up, that way you know what kind of support to expect.
Simple answer...
The one you can afford and does what you want it to.
I am not surethat the majority of us use our phones to their greatest extent. Obviously if you need a particular thing use that as a yard stick. Personally I have a sensation - but that was down to some Ebay wizardry and selling my Iphone 4 for a good price. Im sure the desire would have been as useful except for watching streaming movies.
There is no such as "best" phone, what is best for me may not be for you.
Said that, thread closed

OEMs giving us Beta Roms? Say Whaaaa?

http://developer.sonymobile.com/wp/?p=5513 I got this via droidforums.net
I would post this in the Sony section, but I feel this is a good talking point for all Android devices. Nice to see something outside of the Nexus devices receiving direct support. They mention specifically that they want to get developer input and are taking suggestions into consideration. I like this a whole freaking lot. How much easier would it be for finished dev Roms to be released for us all if other hardware manufacturers made things so streamlined?
This is a huge step in the right direction: direct-from-manufacturer Roms, open communication and a limited number of devices. Moto, Samsung, HTC, I hope you're paying attention. Especially you, Moto, because between you and your paramour Verizon you seem to love to maximize the pain for those who wish to bring us Android bliss.
I think this is a realy good and smart move as this makes me aktualy concider getting a Sony. And hopefully drives manufactuers in the right direction.
Wow, I actually sort of agree with them releasing Beta ROM's to the public.. Allows the customer to maybe even have somewhat of a voice in the end product they receive I guess. Makes me sort of wish I went Sony now.
Sony is awesome for doing this and I can't wait for the PlayStation store to open up for the experia range, I have the play and can't wait for all the games ;-)

Sony does seem to get it more than most when it comes to OS's. I think next year they will bring the big guns. The s is a good phone, but it should have been an S4 with AT&T LTE bands. (No I am not asking for it to be sold by them, just make the world phone with LTE that works on AT&T.)
Now I wait for the SGS 3 of doom.
P.S THE NEW IPAD, thats it's name for real? Even if it was called the 2s it would have been more fiting, but to just slap new on it. Man they really must know that it's fans will buy anything.
