i recently discovered someone has been having access to my text messages on their desktop. they know who i chatted with and what was discussed. i am on the sprint network. does anyone know how this is possible? is there something i should look for on my phone that would show a program running on it? would a hard reset resolve this issue?
Does your phone sync with Microsoft MyPhone?
The only ways I know of that would make this possible are that your phone is syncing with activesync on their computer,or its syncing with an exchange server that they have access to.
hi there are a few apps that "forward SMS's" depends on which phone you have... windows mobile have them called "sms spy" or something close to that plus "sms forwarder"... good luck android have a few too cant think of any off the top of my head. lil research goes along way -ttyl
All your text messages go through Sprint. If your buddy has an unethical connection at Sprint then he could get access that way. Contact Sprint and let them know; if being run through an employee then you might be able to get someone fired.
Ick
I would try reflashing a stock rom (in case there is malware)
Change your MyPhone password for before resyching (in case they're seeing texts there)
Avoid using WiFi in any are he is locating. (in case something is being caught in network traffic)
Run without extra apps (to rule out a rogue app)
See if you can text without him noticing.
Good luck
I highly doubt they are accessing your messages through sprint.
Reflash a nice new ROM from this site, eliminating the installed 'spy program'.
Change passwords to everything.
Wifi should be fine to use, regardless, if it is SMS it doesn't enter the wifi network, and as far as I know winmo doesn't use NetBios.
Only install apps from this site, trusted websites and the marketplace. Nothing he/she can change or edit or made.
You will be fine after this.
2 easy ways i know of....
1. if you sync to a server like say your work or personal email account, unless you SPECIFICALLY SET IT NOT TO it sync's EVERYTHING! calls, text msgs, contact list EVERYTHING!
2. if i were to get ahold of your esn and mdn/msid and cloned a phone to your account i would get txt sent to you as well
there is other ways but that is the easiest 2 ways, hope that help bro
cheers,
disco
I would be choking some peole out
Yea... first thing's first whoever is snooping on your ish... fire them, cut that nosy bastard out of your life, you're better off without them. If you're a kid and it's your parents, then none of this applies. Everyone's advice before hand, take it and change any other passwords to anything else they could have even .00001% chance of accessing.
I don't know the exact names but there are services available for insecure scumbags who'se lives are so sad they have to go snooping around like that. If you can gather proof of an information breach you can then press charges on them. Read a story a few weeks ago about someone who "broke" into his wife's gf's email and found out she was fkn around on him, he's now facing years in the slammer for it.
Even creepier than that is the echelon system... look it up

Has anyone found a way to import SMS messages into Phone 7 yet? I'm looking at moving from Android over to Phone 7 and I've got a few years worth as I was able to migrate them from my WinMo 6.x phone to Android when I made that change. If it can be avoided, I don't want to lose all my messages in the switch over to Phone 7.
there is no way currently to import sms or back them up either.
Not sure why you would want years of sms's.
I was afraid you'd say that.
honestly, I'm a recovering pack-rat so by nature I keep things until they get in my way. It has been handy though, I've dug a few alternate phone numbers and addresses out of the older messages a few times. This isn't a deal breaker for me, just not my ideal.
Thanks again for the info.
I can give you a pretty good reason - I need mine as proof against my psycho ex girlfriend. How's that for reason? I guess people have their reasons when they ask, don't you?

then keep the phone with them on it. And if you really need them for "proof", the police can get them from the carrier.
Sent from my HD7 using Board Express
I take it that there is no way to transfer sms from one wp7 to another then?
I have a limited number of texts that I have managed to keep on the sim over the years for sentimental reasons, eg, from now deceased loved ones.
I have never understood why OFFICE has never integrated SMS, allowing you to use plug ins to send and store SMS . They have facebook etc connectors.
I thought all sms, pics, contacts etc could be synced with your email address and stored using microsoft myphone?

Hi Kappo
The OP wants to get the SMS's off his current Android phone and import them into his WP7 but has no way to get the messages into MyPhone
So is that possible? If yes, how?
Also contacts, they transfer with the sim card because I have saved all my contacts to my sim card?
I'm not sure its possible to do that, since there is not native way to back up and save your current WP7 text messages. I doubt there would be a way to transfer ones from anywhere.
However for contacts, since you have an Android phone you most likely have a Google account. Just sign in with your account on your WP7 device and it will all sync like magic.
Behold, the cloud.
WP7 doesn't have SMS backup? wow... Well, that sucks, I really don't want to lose all my messages, some of them are really important and bring back good memories...

Yeah nothing native that I know of. Doing a search around the interwebz i found this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103011
Thanks, but that isn't what I'm looking for... I dont even have a WP7 at the moment and if i Can't get my messages to the phone it's a major let down...

You must be really attached to those texts. You know all the naughty pics you can just send back to yourself.
No nothing like that XD there's just some messages that I really want to keep... Even though I usually don't read my old messages I just want to keep them as memories
Yes,
it's been a while, but the subject's still up-to-date.
Same thing here. I'd just like to move from Windows Mobile 6.5.
From Exchange 2010 it's possible to sync text messages between the phone and the server. But it appears that goes only for messages which arrive AFTER the sync setup. I haven't found a way to make the phone upload older texts to the server.
Also I don't think a new phone would download all past text messages from the server after pairing.
There's poll to make Microsoft implement a way: http://wpdev.uservoice.com/forums/110705-app-platform/suggestions/1901813-sms-backup?ref=title
That's the only thing preventing me to move to WP7. Most awesome would be if PIMbackup would provide a way. I've asked the programer via mail if he saw a way, but I haven't gotten any response.
If I had no other choice I would forward those SMS messages to my self some how either through email or someother method. Just an idea.
Basically a nice idea. Unfortunately sender numbers and timestamps would be lost :-(
With multiple hundred messages that's important data for me.
But thanks for the idea!
Ok, I have dug and dug on this issue so I am turning to my fellow members to help me out a bit. On my wife's iPhone I have installed the sms and phone integration addons from here: GV Extensions for iPhone | SMS. This allows you to use the stock messaging application to send/receive texts. No special stuff is needed and it just plain works. What I would like to know is how can I accomplish this on my android phones? I currently have an Optimus V and just obtained a Triumph that I will be activating in the next day or two.
I strictly use Google Voice for my phonecalls/sms as I did not want to lose my cell number when I moved from AT&T to Virgin Mobile earlier in this year. So I have the GV app on the phone and I have it set to dial out so my # shows properly to the receiving party and I use it to send/receive texts. Well recently I have been trying out various apps like Iris and they only use the stock messaging app no matter what I have set in preferences. Plus lets be honest, the GV app leaves alot to be desired in terms of looks and it is laggy most of the time.
I know I can forward texts to email but that is just clunky at best. I can also send the sms's to my phones # via the GV interface but what about when I want to text someone that I don't normally text? I don't want to have to go through my entire phonebook and text people and hope they reply just to get the "gv textback #" that I then save to my contacts and set as sms default.
What I would LOVE to be able to do is just open the messages application, choose compose, select my contacts cell #, write a message, and when it sends it not hit my SMS at all but rather be sent directly through my data to GV and then to the recipient.
Is this possible? It seems odd that an iOS device can do this but an android can't. I know it should be but I know it may just be a matter of the right developer taking the time to do it. I would gladly pay the same price as I did for my wife's iPhone apps ($3/each) for this functionality on my androids. Anyone have any insight into this?

Sorry about that. I thought I put it in the most relevant location. Thanks for moving it though. Now just to see if anyone has an idea on how to do it!
Sorry - I don't have a solution for you, but I second this. I have been trying to find a way to do this for a long time.
BUMP
I really do love Google Voice and can not figure out why they offer a better solution for iOS than Android. Major beef with G over this, especially since they offer partnered with Sprint 6 months ago to offer more integration and have not offered the same option to other vendors or the open source community.

Well, TextMarkter.co.uk provides solution for any Google contact to SMS, you may refer to textmarketer.co.uk/software-partners/ as well.
Samsung Galaxy SIII (I9300), Stock ROM, O2 network, default messaging app
New phone, old problem:
My girlfriend will send me several emails from her work address each week and it means also getting the long signature from her workplace at the bottom of each one (including a couple of long hyperlinks). This makes finding the important part (her messages!) an annoying process of scrolling. On a PC, that's not much of an issue (though the signature - which includes lengthy disclaimers and so on - still takes up almost half the average email length).
I wonder then, is it possible to either block signatures from being downloaded (preferably on a sender by sender basis) or at least remove them after the email has been downloaded to the phone? Perhaps the email app (or any email app) can't differentiate between the message and the signature, in which case the former of those isn't going to be possible.
Incidentally, I don't want to root the phone, at least not in the next 12 months until its guarantee runs out.
So, is there an app (whether email client or add-on) which can do this (preferably free!) or am I stuck with lots of scrolling? And no, I can't get her to manually remove the signature at her end!
(Posted in general Q&A as I can't see this being a particularly Samsung-related issue)
Not gonna happen

I fully understand your issue and I understand that it is very annoying, but I'm afraid that I have to disappoint you.
The sender writes the email and because the signature is part of the mail, it can't be removed I think.(it would be just like removing hello..., dear...).
I looked around the internet to check but I couldn't find a solution. Maybe she can sent you emails with another e-mail address?
If I'm wrong, then somebody please correct me. So sorry, not gonna happen.
Hope you still find a solution

Thanks, that's what I pretty much figured. I'm guessing the only way a program could know what part of a message is the signature would be if it had direct access to the sender's email program (e.g. Outlook) and that's not going to happen. Unfortunately, sending from a different client isn't a practical option due to her work's security policy.
Oh well, unless someone comes up with a miracle solution, scrolling endlessly it is then!
Hi everyone,
I'm new here...first post. I am a developer, but not a mobile developer. I have a situation...legal issue...I'm going after someone for breach of contract.
Anyway, I had no idea that in my state, agreements made via SMS or email are legally binding. And so I had deleted some texts that would have made my case. This "dog rescue" had agreed to let us adopt a really awesome dog - but then later changed their minds. Yes, a DOG! (My kids got attached). And they had not given me a copy of the signed agreement even though I had asked multiple times. I finally got a lawyer and they had to provide a copy of the agreement (but this only proves I didn't do anything to breach the contract...it doesn't prove they also agreed to let us adopt him). My lawyer said I have to get those text messages.
So here's the thing. Our messages were exchanged via facebook messenger. But my verizon Message+ app and FB messenger both seemed to be synced up (I kept trying to switch back and forth which was very frustrating). I am pretty sure our conversation took place on the FB app. But I don't remember if I deleted them from FB messenger or Message+. But it's gone in both.
I already looked through the cache for FB messenger - empty. I called verizon and they told me they only keep records going back 7-10 days at most. This was Jan 14th.
I KNOW Verizon can get to the data. Somehow. Someway. Then I thought, what if I upgrade to a new phone? You know how they do the copy of all of your data? Ugh...I do not know if they also copy over your texts. But if they do, I assume it would be the entire database. So I was thinking of upgrading to a new phone (one that can easily be rooted) and then recover the messages from the new phone. Could this work? Does anyone know if Verizon copies EVERYTHING over as root?
And if anyone has any other creative ideas, I'm all ears.
Thanks!

A court order and verizon will disclose them all
