SBC charging Kernel with undervolting for Sense based Inpire Roms - HTC Inspire 4G

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=719763
I know there has been a great deal of mix up on SBC (or trickle full charging) but i will say I have used it for a while, on my EVO, with terrific results with absolutely no problems. It adds almost 2-3 hours worth of battery life to my EVO. I was wondering if any of the DEV's would be willing to tackle this and make and undervolted (HAVS), SBC stock kernel for the Inspire 4G that would run with sense. My gf's battery life is just atrocious as was mine when I first got my EVO4g. The evo does have one plus and that is it has a 1500 vs a 1230 mah battery. I would be very happy to donate. The Kernel above is the one I use and it is great and stable. I know they are different frameworks and operating systems but I figure it is a start. Thanks in advance to anyone that wants to attempt this.

love love my tbolt

Just chiming in and giving my experience thus far.
Running bamf and loving it getting decent battery life even oced to 1.25ghz battery life is on par with my old Droid x. And no reboots as of yet, I live in a 3g area and love talk and surf on this phone!
2 biggies for me is sense and the screen there both awesome.
i myself am using thunderROM 1.0 which isn't to bad. favorite thing about it is the blue boot animation lol
I have been using Th3ory's ROMs and the battery life is much better than stock system - I am greatful that I rooted the Bolt and used this rom.
Happy Rooting.....
i to am loving this phone !! its the best thing ever lol, i love the 4g speed, i get it everywhere i go (bay area) this is also my 2nd android phone and i cant stop tinkering with it, forum hopping, streaming, texting, pictures...everything. running theory rom with extended battery o.c to 1.4 ghz rock solid stable, 17 hours off the charger im at 54% this is with moderate to heavy use =]

[Q] just got the Nexus S 4G. should i stick with stock?

Hey everyone, i just upgraded to a Nexus S 4G this morning from the ol samsung transform, and i was planning on applying cyanogen but then i messed with the phone a bit, did root and restored a couple of my game apps...it seems to work with very nice speed, only serious issues ive noticed are just with the signal, sensitivity of keyboard, and i havnt had time to see battery life yet..
But i was wondering, since the stock rom is so clean and fast, why are we putting on different roms like cyanogen?
More importantly, as far as kernel, whats the best kernel right now for nexus 4g? im running stock kernel, but naturally and ideally id like even more speed(not sure what id use it for, but always nice), better battery life, and better data signals..
ive been reading about overclocked kernels a little bit and such, so basically im wondering about what you guys would say to all this? should i change rom &/Or kernel? to what? why? does overclocking at 1.4ghz like these kernels say have any negative side effects? things like that.
Thanks for your response!

There are quite a lot of things that can be changed by flashing a custom ROM. Cyanogen is reported to be more responsive than stock android, and a slight improvement on battery life and performance. Also, with other ROMs like MIUI you can completely change the entire GUI basically. The lockscreen becomes changeable by one click in the themes app. I've also noticed a slight improvement in battery life/performance and responsiveness.
Also, with regards to kernels, they add extra features (like voodoo sound, BLN notifications, UV'ing, OC'ing, etc). Now if you're looking to overclock your CPU AND save on battery life then that is probably not going to happen. If you OC the CPU you'll as a result draw more battery power when it reaches it's peak. Hence why I went with the TEUV88 kernel. This kernel undervolts the CPU yet manages to give me the same performance as the stock kernel. It runs extremely nicely and the battery lasts me about 24-30 hours on moderate usage where as before I was getting around 16.
Hope this helps.
Edit:: note that both undervolting and overclocking can be dangerous for any phone. The kernel developers put their kernels through testing though to ensure they are stable enough for most people (I hope anyways). But be aware that it is possible to damage the hardware be either of these methods.
yeah im looking at more undervolting for battery life cause current performance seems great for me as of this point. but i mean cyanogenmod doesnt change much since its built on gingerbread, its just slightly more customized, but on the actual performance side, it is a slight increase? so whats the best kernel for undervolting and still getting stock performance or more? im guessing its the one u just mentioned? cause i saw a voodoo kernel or something on main dev page and itwas undervolted and OCed to 1.4 i think...idk.
Yeah you might be talking about the matr1x kernel. It ocs to 1.44 and is uved also. Plus has voodoo sound, bln and bld. Some people have issues with cm7 and some don't. I really don't like the look of miui so I can't say for it. But I use decks 1.3d with zero issues and matr1x kernel with zero issues along with heavy use 4+ hrs screen time in over 12hrs. Personally running 1.44 your phone will prolly lock up but I run 1.2 non stop no freezes or lockups or reboots. Try them and see qhich ones fit you and what you like.

I'm still on stock with mine and honestly, I don't need anything else... i get 12-15 hours of moderate use and i don't really know what lag is because i never experience it with my phone.
The above posters are correct in everyway. I mean it definitely comes down to preference. I was averaging about 13-15h on my stock kernel/rom but my phone would be basically completely dead.
I switched to TEUV88-rammstein2 (Trinity Undervolted rom). It has Voodoo sound, BLN (backlight notification), and with todays update it has touchwake mod. So as you can see my phone lasted 15h (still with 35% battery left) with 3h of screen on, and 45m of audio streaming, and lots of texting.

[Q] Are they safe? Anker bat. and custom kernel

I am going to install custom ROM for sure. But I am wondering about getting new Anker battery and installing custom kernel (Bricked Kernel for now). I know the thread for the Anker battery but it is 100 pages and most about durability.
So is the batter safe for hardware.
Are the custom kernels safe for hardware.
I don't want to damage my phone like after a year or so because I intend to use it for a long long time.
I have been using anker for months not a single problem. Custom Kernels are safe as long as you know what you are doing. Otherwise just use the stock kernel.
I've also been using the anker battery for months and not had a problem. Been using both faux and show-P's kernels, on sense roms, and everything's been great.
Only thing i've noticed is that the anker battery, sometimes, doesn't show the correct temperature in certain battery apps - no big deal though since i've never had adverse side-effects due to this.
I'd say get the battery and get stuck in to sensation roms!!

Thank you sounds good!
But I've heard about
Custom Kernels: Overclocking and etc. is dangerous for hardware and processors.
Anker battery: Have unstable electricity (higher voltage) and that can harm the hardware in long term.
By your answers I should understand that this is not true.
Can I have a few more opinions please

I have been using the Anker battery since August. Works a treat, a must have.. and I have custom kernal, radio and ROM. Very stable, and very fast and I have had no problems so far! I would defiantly say this is something you should do!!
All good for me!
I have been using the Anker 1900 mah battery with mike's Android Revolution HD 4.1.7 and both the included faux123 kernal as well as most recently show-p's Bricked 1.6b1 kernel. I have not messed around with undervolting but I do have OC Daemon set to a max of 1.7ghz. I have not experienced any issues whatsoever and find these custom ROMs/kernels to run even cooler and smoother than the stock versions from HTC.

[Q] Battery saver kernel for Sensation

Hi!
Ok, i'm not good in writing especially in english so here we go
From all kernel that has been released lately, which one do you recommend for having the best battery life in term of standby??
My opinion is Sebastian's kernel in ARHD 6.5.1
it gave me mostly 2 hours for 1%
but i have new problem now cause i flash ARHD 6.5.3 and then restore boot from 6.5.1 NAND back up and now my wifi gave me error
(but this is my problem, not yours )
Come on guys, give me your opinion
I'm currently running Hyper NonSense with the default kernel - I think it's Faux that's cooked into the ROM but unsure of this. Between the ROM and the kernel, I'm getting the best battery life I've seen with this phone. Easily have 30-50% left at the end of the day with moderate use; haven't actually benchmarked it more carefully than that.
Any update on this? My sensation doesn't even last a day...
Best kernels right now are Faux kernel
Sebastian FM
Bricked kernel
I myself have found that bricked uses the less battery, but try them yourself and decide which suits your needs.
I'm using Faux right now with HyperNonSense and I would say it's a good balance between battery saving and performance. One thing to keep in mind is that the higher you OC the more juice it'll drain. So far I've always capped my CPU to 1.24Mhz and I've never had an issue with performance. During light use I can get more than 30 hours in a full charge. If it's a moderate use, I'm still able to touch 24 hours. Oh yeah I'm using Anker 1900mAh.

which has the best battery life for sensation?

there's been so many different types of rom posted...
but would like to know which one by far has the best battery life. i'm already running an aftermarket 2500mAh battery (Galili DPG-GI4) from ebay and it's giving me 1.5 days of full usage on the JB (KANG) rom.
before trying another.. anyone have experience they can share? i know each usage scenerio varies, but i travel a lot so need to use the phone very often. so the bells and whistles, i can live without to save more battery life.
thanks.
ViperS with Bricked Kernel on Badass the battery is great. I reckon if you turned the CPU down to 1.2ghz you could squeeze even more out. I think the sense based ROMs have the best battery life, but that's personal experience. As most people will tell you, it works to try out many first.
