[Q] Anemic headers in replies from email app - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I apologize if this is an Android FAQ; the Xoom is my first Android device.
I set up my email account. It's an Exchange account and everything is syncing nicely. I notice that when replying to emails using the email app on the Xoom, the headers in the email I am replying to are anemic.

setting email send address.

Hi,
I have posted this as another thread but later thought about it, and it's more general rather then being specific to my device, certainly all wm6.1 devs and possabily earlier.
Basically i use my diamond to connect to my exchange server which hosts my personal mail, i have a forwarder which forwards all my mail to the exchange, so i can easily pick up my work mail from my personal exchange.
This is where my problem begins when i reply to a email or send it uses my exchange mail box.
I have added the work mail box to my phone with a rogue pop3 for source email so i am not pulling the same email from 2 sources, and specified smtp correctly and used the right username\pass.
I hoped by doing this when i send an email or replied it would ask me which account to send from however it uses which ever account you are in at the time of creating the mail.
I don't know if anyone else has achieved this or even tried anything similar.
Any suggestions welcomed.
thanks in advance
james

activesync / exchange issues

everything works fine except sending internal emails at work.
so contacts, appointments, tasks are correctly synced
also all incoming email is synced
when i send email to the "world" all works fine.
all send emails endup in my sent items
but i can not send any emails to internal addresses at work.
however, sending emails to those internal email addresses are correctly displayed in my sent items folder.
i have tried the stock rom, and the custom Maple 1.6 rom, but this does not make any difference.
it involves exchange 2003 with a self signed cert.
a collegue with a different htc phone, and the exact same certificates installed on his phone, can send internal emails without probs
any ideas please?
Thanks
Patrick

Im not an exchange expert, but if all your internal emails including yours are using the same server and you can send externally, it has to be a server issue. THere would not be any other settings to change on active sync. You'll have to speak to ur IT dept unless someone comes up with any other bright ideas. (maybe your companys firewall blocking the sent mail)
maybe this helps for the experts?

I just did it on my phone and it works fine. I'm using Fresh 1.1.
What happens when you try to reply to an e-mail? Do you get an error? Any weird messages on the screen?
Need some more information so that I can help you. The more descriptive, the better.
have you tried removing your gmail account from your phone and then putting it back on? also when flashing a rom sometimes it's better to clear/wipe data. Also if they are getting forwarded, and you are replying. It might be trying to reply with your aol username. ex.

and also in the past i have had my email fwd to gmail and i have replied before and it work just fine...
Log onto your Gmail account online, then change your password. You will then have to redo the login process on the phone, and this will fix the sending issue.
i just changed the password and try to do it again and this what i got.

This solution has worked for me in the past:
1) Go to Settings>Applications>Manage Application
2) Look for Google Apps and click on it
3) Press the Clear Data button
4) Restart your phone
You will be prompted to re-enter your google account settings and it will re-sync your contacts and Gmail, but this will allow you to send emails again.
Try this at your own risk. I claim no responsibility for the veracity, effectiveness, or merchantability of this information.

What password did you change? You currently have Gmail set up to send email from your AOL email address using AOL servers. Sounds like you changed your AOL email password. That's not what I meant to do, and you will need to go to your Google accounts & import settings and change the SMTP settings for your AOL account now.
I had this exact problem with the Gmail (red envelope) icon so I now use the HTC email program. The icon for that one is in the form of a mailbox. That one sends fine. Temp fix.

[Q] Cannot Add Exchange Account

Hello,
I just got a new AT&T HTC One X phone because the other one was faulty (Lost cellular signal and would not get it back).
I flash Viper 3x because I could not get 4.2 to take. During the process I selected disable exchange security.
I am now on Viper 4.2 and I can add my Microsoft 365 Exchange account (cloud based) but not my work Exchange Account. I get "Failed to create the account. Please try again later."
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I cannot be without my real work email and calendar...
Alex

OMG, after about 20 times of trying to add my phone I received this message:

Subject: Error with your new mobile phone partnership

You have 10 phone partnerships out of the maximum allowed 10 partnerships. After you reach the maximum, you can't create additional partnerships until you delete existing ones from your account. To do so, sign in to Outlook Web App, click Options > Phone > Mobile Phones, and delete any unused partnerships.
I deleted the old partnerships and now I am working!

Glad to hear it!
Not sure why MS limits the partnerships, but glad you got it sorted out.

Alternatives to Mail2web's push service?

So I have been using Mail2web's PAID push service for the last year and a half or so and it has been pretty reliable. I get push notifications and when I respond, it shows my real address in the FROM field, which is what I want(to use an alternate FROM address) However the last 3 days, I have been unable to send any emails. Everything I send gets BOUNCED by their server(I still can receive emails just fine). Mail2web has been 100% unresponsive to my issue as I placed a ticket 3 days ago but no responses at all, just a generic "We received it" email. I have sent follow ups and nothing from them. I even posted on their forum and nothing. This is a PAID account too, not the free one.
So I am looking for alternatives to their push service. I just want to be able to get push notifications via Exchange and when I send, have the FROM field show my real email address, not the address of the service, so people respond properly. In mail2web's case, it would send via Mail2web's server/email account, but show my @charter.net email address as the person who sent it(so they can respond appropriately).
As for the BOUNCE, what I discovered is that if I send emails with an alternate "From:" email address(instead of the mail2web.com address) set, Softcom's(Mail2web's parent) will BOUNCE the email and not send it with a Callback setup failed message. I have had it set to use a different FROM address since I started using them, so it's been a while, with no issues.
I get the error listed below(I removed the actual email addresses). I use a Charter.net email as the Alternate FROM email.
