Bass Boost options? like CM7 for 2.2.1 - Captivate General

Anyone know of any kernels or options for 2.2.1 to have an awesome bass boost option, similar to CM7? I love CM7 but want to wait for more fixes until a daily driver so an optimized 2.2.1 is perfectly fine with me.
I liked a scalable menue- light, moderate or heavy or something of the like.
Thanks all!

If you are running custom rom, try Voodoo control app from supercurio if you haven't tried already. I'm sure you won't disappointed. Also, what music app you are using? If it's stock, you won't get great sound, try Power Amp from the market.
I hope that helps you.

I agree regarding Power Amp. Good equalizer and bass & treble options.

Yah, I am running Power Amp off the eXistZ Cappy Kernel #7, and it helps the sound/bass out alot.
If your going from stock to this start low on yer volume.. I forgot and almost blew my ears apart

Much more intuitive than stock app.

If you run a custom rom, the kernel will most likely have voodoo sound patch included.
All you need to do is install Galaxy tuner from the market. That will let you customize varios parameters of your phone including bass boost and 3D sound.

Froyo deal breaker for me

I've asked this before and haven't gotten any fix so far. I've been flashing roms left and right the past couple months and I cannot figure out why the MAX MEDIA VOLUME is so much lower than on stock eclair. I'm a huge music junky and I'm close to giving up on froyo because of this one drawback. Can it be set from SGS TOOLS? Again, when listening to music through headphones or auxiliary the Max volume is much lower than on eclair. Heeeeelp

There is an app on the market called audioboost. It is not free but it is supposed to accomplish what you want
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA App
You can adjust the volume steps in sgs tools but they will not survive a reboot. This issue has been discussed but gains no traction a far as getting the higher setting cooked in. lithium and power amp both have settings that allow music through audio out to be increased beyond normal maximum levels as well..a workaround I know but better than going back to 2.1
I second the use of the AudioBoost app, but I'll also suggest Supercurio's Stock + Voodoo kernel depending on which ROM you use. He uses the stock Captivate kernel so the Volume isn't affected.

Im on stock 2.1, I bet this was changed to prevent accidental volume increase issues. Volume increase should require multiple presses but holding down the button can quickly put it up to max.
I purchased the Audioboost 2 app & it works, but it makes my phone lag. Doesn't seem to drain battery any quicker though. Would still like a permanent fix or instructions through SGS TOOLS

[Q] Voodoo Stock Kernel

Hello all
I have tried netarchys new kernels, all versions and I appear to be one of the poor unfortunates who's NS will just not be rushed (overclocked).
I had netarchys 1.1 running for a bit, before the usual freezes and reboots and the sound quality was awesome.
Is there a stock rom for the Nexus S with the voodoo tweaks?

Supercurio tweeted something about it yesterday or the day before, but I believe it was about one with his new sound improvements.
You're not looking for the original kind of voodoo fixes (aka lag-fix) are you? There is zero lag on this phone, and the filesystem is already ext4 and yaffs2...no RFS (the original reason for voodoo) on this baby.

Voodoo sound driver
Currently there is no stock Kernel with Voodoo sound. Morfic from Team Whiskey says he's working on adding Voodoo sound to some of his Trinity kernels so you might want to keep your eye on that thread. I believe he currently has an UV1ghz with Voodoo but it's for CM. What rom are you running? You may also want to try Netarchy Nexus - 1.2.1 instead. My phone didn't like 1.1 very much either but seems to work great on 1.2.1.

Ah, there it is. Voodoo's too big an umbrella now...too many things going on with it and confusion over what is and isn't voodoo any more unless people say like "voodoo sound".
I skimmed over that netarchy post, but missed the sound tweaks part. I'm not interested in overclocking this phone, it's fast enough without the risks/issues, but the voodoo sound will be exciting if it's as good as supercurio says it is. I should probably try one of the i9000 kernels with it on my i9000.

Or you could buy his paid App which you can continue using the stock kernel if you like. Much easier if you flash a kernel with support though. Using the kernel that supports it and free App works well.

No. Voodoo is not designed to save battery life. It only makes sound and color (SAMOLED) better. But flashing a kernel does help you save battery.
I use Netarchy's 1.3.7-CFS Kernel. Use that with Proton Voltage Control and undervolt with suggested (-20 across board) and you'll conserve some battery by doing that.

Is there any advantage to using a kernel with voodoo built in vs. stock kernel w/ root? eg. battery life, performance.

Well, most custom kernels will yield better battery life and performance than stock kernel based on how you set up your device.
For example, if you overclock, you would obviously get lesser battery life but better performance. But you can also underclock and tweak the voltages in order to get better battery life.
You just have to play with the setting - you may actually find that you will get both battery life and performance improvement with right setting.
With Voodoo color, you get to modify screen RGB colors to your flavor. You can try out some of the RGB values on the link below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1002090
Voodoo sound modifies the built-in sound codec and makes your Nexus a great MP3 player!
However, you can't modify any setting with stock kernel.
You won't regret it. Go for it

heavy games from gameloft where used as test base
All ROMS and Kernel work differently on every phone ... some people have problems running Trinity and some people have problems running Ma1trix(I hope i spelt it correctly) anyways i don't mean to offend any of the devs but it depends on phone to phone
My Nexus runs smoothly with Nscollab .41 with TrinityEUV kernel (0.88 GHz) =]
Also Bugless Pete's GPA17 with the stock kernel which is btw Pete's own =]
and finally MIUI with TrinityUV android flavored kernel (1.0 Ghz) =]
to find out which one works best on your device you have to install and check them yourself
Hope i helped
There are no "problems" with Matr1x.
You just need to tweak the voltages and find something that works for you....
As a fresh NS user, I wanted something similar to stock + added notification bar toggle + kernel with BLN & Voodoo sound. Found this combo with TSM Pool party 1.3 ROM, which is based on Pete's work and his kernel. Works excellent:]

Voodoo Sound on Gingerbread?

Sorry if this is obvious, but I didn't find a for-sure answer.
Is there a way to enable Voodoo Sound on Gingerbread on the Charge?
I am currently running Humblecomb 4.0 with the kernel it includes. Voodoo Control Plus states that I do not have a Voodoo Sound kernel.
Its not the end of the world, and I figure that in time Voodoo Sound will be supported by Gingerbread kernels (perhaps after the official release.)
If there is a simple way to get it working now though, I'd love to hear it!
I use Voodoo Control Plus fine on my Charge running EP1W GB Leak
Purchase Voodoo Control Plus and you can then load the sound module and get voodoo sound
Thanks guys, I don't what I was doing wrong (I think it was the Voodoo Control cooked into Humblecomb that caused the issue.) I made sure that both Voodoo Control and Voodoo Control Plus were removed, then reinstalled Voodoo Control Plus.
Woohoo, Gingerbread Voodoo Sound!
