Hi
After much trawling around the web I've found what the MMS settings should be for Vodafone Ireland.
Go to Setting --> Wireless & Networks --> Mobile Networks --> Access Point Names --> Vodafone IE-MMS and put in the following settings
Name: Vodafone MMS
APN: mms.vodafone.net
Proxy: <not set>
Port: <not set>
Username: dublin
Password: dublin
Server: mms.vodafone.net
MMSC: http://www.vodafone.ie/mms
MMS Proxy: 10.24.59.200
MMS port: 80
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 272 (this was the default)
MNC: 01 (this was the default)
APN Type: MMS
Hi,
Thanks for the tip, I tried almost everything I could find on forums... but this one doesn't work neither.
I'm using a HTC Desire under Froyo 2.2, what phone are you using ?
Thanks !
Blimmeh that was a while back !
I was using an HTC Kaiser running android, now I've got a Galaxy S
Here's the mobile data APN details
Name: Vodafone
APN: isp.vodafone.ie
Proxy: <Not Set>
Port: <Not Set>
Username: vodafone (lower case)
Password: vodafone (lower case)
Server: 0.0.0.0
MMSC: <Not Set>
MMS Proxy: <Not Set>
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 272
MNC: 01
APN Type: default
just be careful, isp.vodafone.ie is not included in your data bundle, you'll be charged for that. use live.vodafone.com instead

Oddly I just checked my last bill and both isp and live fall into my data allowance.
Also if you take the proxy out then you don't get any of Voda's ads on screen
Wanted to see if I could get some working APN settings for unlocked atrix 2 mms web ect...... With the default apn i was unable to send mms but i could receive them..... Currently i am unlocked on T-mobile and this config seems to work.....
Name: T-Mobile Data (or T-Mobile US)
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Proxy: <Not set>
Port: <Not set>
Username: None
Note: For the Username, enter "None" with the keypad. Do not leave it not set.
Password: <Not set>
Server: <Not set>
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS proxy: <Not set>
MMS port: <Not set>
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
Authentication type: <Not set>
APN type: default,supl,admin,dun,mms
Press the Menu key.
Touch Save.
Power off turn on and good to go
Took a few before it worked I have heard you have to send or receive 2 pics before it works?????
If anyone would like to add other provider apn's or a better T-mobile apn pls do so.....
Edit: I take no credit for this but found it could be helpful.....
Mods if you think this should be in a different location feel free to move it. Also I'd like to see a sticky APN thread, because apparently google is too hard to use.
I thought I'd post this because it comes up alot and there isn't a single place this information sits(as far as I could found in my searches). Also I have to find them all over again when it comes up. So here it is.
The KB from T-Mobile:
http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-1979
Code:
APN settings laid out in the KB:
Name: T-Mobile
APN: epc.tmobile.com or fast.t-mobile.com (for LTE devices)
Proxy: <Not set>
Port: <Not set>
Username: <Not set> [T-Mobile states for the MT4G/Glacier to enter "None" (without quotes) for this and to NOT leave this as <Not set>]
Password: <Not set>
Server: <Not set>
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS proxy: <Not set>
MMS port: <Not set>
MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
Authentication type: <Not set>
APN type: default,supl,admin,dun,mms <-- Specified for MT4G otherwise --> <Not Set> OR Internet+MMS (depending on software version)
If you find yourself not able to send MMS messages it is most likely because the proxy, port, username, password fields are not <Not Set>. Just tap these values and delete any information in them. I always restart but not always necessary.
Some people enter 216.155.165.50 for the MMS Proxy and 8080 for MMS Port I have never had to and am not exactly why these values might be needed but try them if the T-Mobile settings don't work.
thx
just what I was looking for :good:

The mms proxy and port is the old settings for Simple Mobile
Sent from my HTC Glacier using xda app-developers app
I wonder if these settings might help S3 phones get LTE :/
I have been trying to get an ATT GS2 - I777 that is rooted and unlocked running on tmobile to accept and receive photos with texts for a week with no luck. I have used the settings provided by T-Mobile with no luck. I am running ICS though and it has a couple different settings. Any idea if that is what is causing it not to work. I can send regular text fine but it dies if you try to send or receive an image. Sending an image shows sending and it never goes. If I try to send from another carrier to this phone it comes back with a failed message in about 5 minutes.

First I have Use Packet Data and Data Roaming checked.
Then I got to APNs
There is NO MMS protocol listed
APN Type shows Internet+MMS+SUPL or each listed individually.
Then APN Protocol is IPv4 or IPv6 or both together.
APN Protocol when roaming also shows IPv4 or IPv6 or both together.
Then APN enabled has a grayed out check box that I can't select. Shows APN enabled.
Last is bearer - LTE or eHRPD or Unspecified.

Well I would keep it ipv4. If you can leave any extra settings blank do that. Definitely use APN.
Have you tried leaving everything blank or "not set" except for the servers? The MMS issue is definitely your APN settings.

Try APN name "T-Mobile US". Everything as shown in the article.

i believe this may be wrong. the apn fast.tmobile.com should be fast.t-mobile.com
same with epc.tmobile.com (epc.t-mobile.com)
it would not work for me without the dash. (made an account just to post this found with google)

I always have used. epc.tmobile.com however the mmsc uses the T-Mobile.com domain. I can upload screenshots of mine but they are there same as the document. However the name is "T-Mobile US" but I don't think that matters.

The message comes to me as a multimedia file, but i press download, and it just tries to download, without making any progress. Can anyone help?

I've seen this happen often with areas of poor or slow network coverage. If the coverage is full 4g try rebooting the phone that helps sometimes

As far as I know, you have to have mobile data in order to receive MMS(picture messages) for SMS (text message) you only need network. Message can't be sent or received via Wi-Fi.

There's an article out there that follows the entire messaging cycle. To my knowledge, which may be wrong, Android routes all messages through the radio. So that if you have Wi-Fi on and your radio off, none of your messages will send until your GSM radio is on and has connected to a network.

My radio on? Can you elaborate please, i have been able to send and receive normal text messages without wifi. I do have a unlimited messaging plan with them. The problem is, the MMS messaging, or the messaging with media files such as pictures

Sure. When I say Radio I mean the GSM wireless radio, which is responsible for the wireless communication between your phone and the service provider's cell towers. And, to my knowledge, all messaging is sent and received through the cellular (GSM) radio through your cellular carrier (T-Mobile in this case.) As for MMS I was under the impression that went through the data network connection and SMS was handled just with the mobile network (Voice call etc...) Make sure your messaging plan includes SMS, if it does contact the carrier (T-Mobile) and make sure they haven't messed anything up. (maybe not phrase it quite like that) but inquire to make sure it is all good on their side.
Had to do a factory wipe on my kind-of-stock One S. Tried all APN settings on the SM website but had no mms or data and kept getting APN error notices. Spent an 2 hours on the phone 3 times with Simple Mobile tech support. They were worthless. Flamed them on FB and after 2 emails was sent the APN data below. Applied it and device works perfectly again. Interesting that the APN is accessing Cingular authentication severs...
APN Name: Straight Talk
APN: att.mvno
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.33
MMS Port: 80
Save from Menu and select the new APN then power your phone off and on. Worked for me just fine. Hope it does for you!
