Thanks for the help man. I'm glad some people can actually help around here instead of just making comments lol.
any time, I understand people have preferences, I still like blackberry, but RIM just can't compete with android or apple anymore.
All jokes aside. Good luck Shady.

I would try Swappa.com. I sold my Captivate there, and it was a really easy, tireless process. They also don't care if your phone is rooted or not, just want you to designate if it is. There's only 1 listed right now for 410, so you could probably put it up for 390 and sell it pretty quick.
Hi guys im about to ship off my htc inspire to htc for repair but i had a question. the phone will NOT boot at all. the orange LED light will not even show up if its plugged in. this happened after i flashed to PD198IMG.zip from the ace hack kit in HBOOT. now the phone wont turn of. if i plug it into my computer it tells me its installing this driver. but it cannot be found i looked on the internet for it and i couldnt find it. anyways! my question is. Will HTC be able to tell the warranty is voided or not. so far on here i havent found anything that HTC can do that we cant. but i need a straight answer from you devs! thanks so much!
Might run it over so they could just send you a new one

Can you not boot back to hboot volume down and power? As far as the warranty goes HTC just referbs the phone I have never got charged for rooting . Try to boot to hboot screen and the HTC sync drivers can be found on HTC web site

As far as I know it's AT&T who "cares" if you have rooted your phone, I don't think HTC cares.
ATT has never asked if I had rooted my phone they don't have in there terms & conditions they read for exchanges. And I have a friend who works for them and he said that don't care just don't tell them more than they need to know .

My phone is currently being shipped back from HTC and they didn't charge my for the repair . ! just reporting back for those who have the same issue dont have to fret about sending your device in!
Thats great news! Thanks for the update. Total turn around time was what, about 2 weeks?

I did work for them, and you're correct my friend.
They don't expect you to root it, as most customers never do. If you don't mention it, chances are it will never come up.
I doubt the geniuses in CS would even know how to check...

It all depends on how you ship it in. Yes they make YOU pay for shipping it in. i used UPS ground took about a week... the same day they got the phone they Replaced the motherboard (according to them anyways) and shipped it back out the same day. But they used ground shipping via FedEx.. even though the gal on the phone said expect the phone withen 3-5 Business days after they received the unit. So. yes. about 2 weeks total.
So a couple of days ago I got the OTA Gingerbread update. After the update my phone has had some problems. When I text, the buttons stop vibrating sometimes. And also some of my contacts on the messaging app just show up as phone numbers. So please tell me what may be happening.
Can't offer any explanations but keep in mind, ota updates can be problematic because its insalling on top of what's currently installed, as opposed to wiping and doing a clean install.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
I would suggest taking the phone in or possibly better off calling tech support and have them re push the update and go from there...or just root it and flash a custom ROM and enjoy the phone how it should've been.

The only problem to rooting my phone is that I might want to trade it in for another Inspire, because the screen is starting to pop out of the phone in the bottom left corner. I just don't want my phone to void the warrenty, and make it so I can't return it.

I've returned 2 phone because of that, 1st one was within the original 30 days and 2nd one was after and I thankfully have a tech warranty center close by.
How ever on the second one, a refurb I don't have working GPS and the guy would not let me exchange it again and gave me a number for HTC to call and get it exchanged that way, why I'm not sure but it may have been my fault any way. Lol

Alright, well right now I am trying to find a way to root the phone. I remember how to root my old Samsung Captivate, but this is very different. Including that I now have android 2.3.3 I havent found any way to root the Inspire with Gingerbread. So if you know where I can find a download, please post it while I keep searching.

Basically my WiFi signal drops and reconnects every 5 minutes, and sometimes I lose "4G" and all bars of service completely. AT&T told me to call HTC. The guy made me apply pressure to the back of the phone under the camera, and all of a sudden, my WiFi signal was strong and stable. He said I would have to mail them my phone, so I said no way, I'm not going to be without a phone for like a week or more, so I called AT&T, told them HTC told me it was a hardware issue not a software issue, so finally, after spending 2+ hours on the phone, AT&T is sending me a replacement phone.
Thought I would share this in case there are others in a similar situation.

I'd really look over the devices you get sent if I were you. They've sent me out 3 warranty replacements (waiting for the 4th) but I keep sending them back because they all have extremely noticeable defects. They said they will keep sending them until I get one that is in good condition. I don't have to argue with them at all. I wish I could go to a completely different phone but they won't do that.

This may sound strange...but i need to find a way to brick my phone so that not even the bootloader will work.
i tried flashing different roms from different phones but everything seems to have a script to check phone models now so it wont let me flash.
i also tried to wipe everything, cache, system and stuff and force rebooting, doesnt work either.
any ideas?
May I ask why you want to do this?

My earpiece volume is very low to the point i cant hear anyone while walking on the street.
i borrowed my sisters onex and hers was totally fine.
i have a service plan through futureshop but they wont take it back if i modified it (they are smart enough to check bootloader which says tampered and stuff all over it)
so in order for me to fix it/get a new one i have to brick it to the point where they cant even see the tampering

His earpiece is defective. If he had not installed a ROM he would have been able to get a replacement. I dont think he should be punished for flashing a ROM by being forced to keep an already detective device.

When did his earpiece start being defective ? I've discussed this many times, unlocking your bootloader does NOT void your warranty.
HTC says it MAY void your warranty.
Flash a ruu and send it back would be the ethical way to go. They don't check the bootloader, they probably send it to HTC or some sort of repair center.
Me personally I would brick it to reduce the chance of them trying to stick me with the cost of the phone. But I wouldnt tell anyone

Actually yes this problem happened after root/bootloader unlock
I am not the only one with this problem and it hasnt been the first phone ive had with this problem either
It was fine for a couple of months and then it was on and off, sometimes the volume will be normal in calls and sometimes it wont
then it just fully dies and stays a low volume
had the exact same problem with my evo3d and xperia arc

Wouldn't a bricked device be more suspicious than a defective earpiece? What would be the situation you could brick a device without unlocking the bootloader, or using a microwave? They can verify the earpiece is bad. I have some sort of defect with the screen, like a scratch or smudge between the LCD and the glass. I was just going to send it back with the bl relocked. But, my new one came with 2.20 already on it. So, I sent it back and will try again later for another, or if an exploit is found for 2.20, or take them up on the early upgrade GS III offer.
How bad is the earpiece issue? Worse than running stock sense? You may want to wait until you get a replacement to decide what to do.

there still going to ask what happened though. i bricked mine and told them i got the 2.20 update and i was watching a movie while (not on my phone) it installed and after a while checked on it and it was off and wouldnt charge or turn on. but now im on my second 2.20 replacement. first had a bad speakephone and service was crap. and this one the whites are not as white as they should be and are more pinkish and tan.
