Well i'm here. Just got back from a very late night at T-Mobile and came back with 2 G2s and My MyTouch4G. Now is there anyone one click roots? like the epic had? or no? What is the easy root method to use?
Thanks!
No, now go read. The development threads

You definitely should start reading but the short answer is... no, there is no one click perm root for mt4g and you won't be seeing one. Rooting is easy and shouldn't take more than 5 minutes if you read carefully before you attempt.

This phones are very similar in the way one would root them. But different files are needed, please read as per phone.
The easiest way to root this phone can be found over at the UnLockr.com
http://theunlockr.com/2010/12/10/how-to-temporarily-root-the-t-mobile-mytouch-4g-htc-glacier/ make sure to continue from that page to how to "perma root" the phone.
With the possibility of you putting 2 different variant of ROMs on this phone please take time and READ READ READ about the two different recovery images and what version (2.2/2.3) of Android you can put on your phone. You can easily screw things up if you get head strong and do not take the time to read.

I'm surprised to see these questions from someone with 400+ posts. You are surely aware that the stickies in this section and the dev section will answer your questions. And on the very first page of the dev section is a thread titled "[DEV][GUI][RC2][GPL][3-21-2011] HTC Inspire 4G Simple One Click".

No. Super one click will not work with this phone.
There are two rooting methods that are available, the hack kit by Attn1 and Simple root by bubby, both of which require the creation of a gold card, and are available in the dev section.
Please make sure you understand thoroughly the method you choose, read the manuals/faq's, and direct any questions you have to the method's thread, after of course, you have made a reasonable attempt at searching for previous answers to the question.
Chances are someone has already run into a difficulty and has had it assessed.
Good luck....

Hi fellas, YEAH !! I"m just a nob
I just bought my first Android Phone, yes....left behind my Iphone 3GS to get into the Real Game now ! ;-)
So, would you people help me know a bit more about this? I need to know how to upgrade my HTC Inspire 4G, from Froyo 2.2 to Gingerbread 2.3.3 or 2.3.4
Thanks all of you beforehand,
RUben.
At this point, root is the only way. View the stickie, as it has the two root methods, and read read read. Start with reading the root method threads and decide which you want to go with. The key is, don' t be in a hurry to root until you have a fair understanding of what you will be doing.

Oh Thanks !! Well, I know the root process is the fact that being gaining admin access within the device, in order to make any kind of changes at the kernel level or anything else right ?
Now, my device is unlocked, that necessary means it's also rooted ?

Oh Thanks! and Yeah, that was the first post I'd read when I came into this cool website... The thing is, the guide is amazing, and those two ways to root the device seems great !! it's just that, what else after that ? I'm talking about being upgrading to Gingerbread, let's think the bases are ready (rooted, flashed, unlocked..) so then what ? should I download something and use some king of soft to upgrade my Inspire ? You know, I know all about Iphone and the way to jailbreak and unlock and upgraded and so on, but NOTHING about android.. as I said, I'm just starting.. Thanks a lot for all the advises... And SORRY for being posting this on the wrong thread!
Thanks,
Ruben,

Upon reading it, did you miss the part about flashing a rom? Since you want Gingerbread you will need to instal one. Hence the how to instal a rom portion.
The Inspire forums have many subforums. one of them is the dev forum. This would be your next reading material. But I suggest you read the guide again. Good luck.
Oh.. I got it !! The flashing process is basically the installation of a "firmware" into the phone, which would be in this case a gingerbread.
Thanks !

There are quite a few good GB Roms available. I prefer Pure so I use an AOSP Gingerbread rom, but there are sense ones too.
See My Sig and many other users here for their personal set ups. And of Couse I stress the reading. Te Dev forum has so much.

Rom/kernel = gingerbread or whatever (froyo, etc.)
Though there obviously hasn't been an official inspire gingerbread release, what you'll find in the dev section has been modified as required from the gingerbread release for the desire hd, pretty much the same phone.
There's a lot of them. Most of the newer ones are based on gingerbread.
Just keep on reading and u will find all the answers you need. It's s privalge to have s answer given to you without reading lol trust me I know lol

HI,
I recently took this phone from my frend who brought this from US.
It unlocked to any carrier. I have read couple of places about S-Off.
Not sure what it is all about. Before rooting & installing custom ROM I need help from the folks who have done this. There is no removery mod installed on this phone. I dont want to brick this piece hence need rooting instructions from the folks.
Regards
S-on? Then use this.

In truth, we can't make the instructions any simpler than the step by step that was already beautifully done by attn1. If you read it and still don't understand, keep reading it until it makes sense and read the effin manual included with the hack kit. While rooting, if anything goes wrong, follow the manual and don't make any assumptions or redo anything.

Darunion said beautifully....the only thing that I can add up is that the Hack Kit is the only game in town. DO NOT try anything else or might end up with a messed bootloader. Read as many times as necessary and then go ahead...if you get stuck do not stop or close anything, just re read the manualĀ“s troubleshooting section and if are still stuck hit the IRC channel...but do not stop or atempt anything....welcome to XDA...:good:
I used Ace Hack Kit. It was actually surprisingly easy and didn't take that long.

Here's a video to help: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...m6DWCA&usg=AFQjCNEDETg2nq8rDBQWfKvlh9APF40fiw
It will root, unlock, install clockwork mod recovery, and superuser.
After that flash a rom. I will say I use the Rom called "Android Revolution HD 6.3.1" and can hotspot when ever I want, even without the AT&T account.
Video for that is here: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...4dTCCA&usg=AFQjCNE6rGAT6Z8pN9omO8UshYbzAup5cQ

Hey guys,
I'm new to modding my Motorola XOOM. I've looked around on the boards and found nothing on the how to's for the XOOM especially since there are so many variants. I currently have a MZ601 and am in Malaysia - I bought it here. I keep seeing MZ601 umts-everest, But I don't know if that is my device.
I'm wondering is there any easy way to unlock and root the XOOM and what are some good ROMs. I've read about TeamEOS and AOKP.
Thanks heaps.

Google man.
I did. It's all for the wingray and stingray models. And the everest models redirect to xda.
Here is the android SDK download:
http://dl.google.com/android/installer_r21.0.1-windows.exe
Thanks. I've already installed it. All I do is use the command prompt then? Just type in the commands?
The link that d3athsd00r posted basically walks you thru the whole process... if you still can't figure it out after reading that thread then maybe you should leave your xoom stock. No offense intended but it doesn't get any easier than that.
It looked a bit complicated to me initially but was spurred on by a friend who had done it and saw the benefit. Just take a deep breath, print out the instructions and make sure you download all the required files for your device. Read the instructions carefully and follow exactly. It was a lot easier than I feared and now have the device that I want. Good luck
