[Q] Hide Caller ID except for contacts - General Questions and Answers

Hi
On my old WinMo 6 phone (HTC S710) there was a settings which showed my Caller ID only to people in my contacts. But it seems there's no similar options on my Desire (OxygenMOD 2.3.3).
Is there an app for it or anything or is it just the hard way, where you have to put *31# in front of every number in your contacts?

See contacts name when an SMS arrives / HTC S710 / WM6

Hi
I have a question, I have a HTC S710 running WM6. When I get an SMS
instead of showing the name of the person that sent it, it shows the
number even I have the contact stored. What I figured is that the
stored number is XXX-XXXX and the SMS comes from +506 XXXXXXX.
In other phones Ive had (Nokia, Sony Ericsson) when an SMS comes from
that number, it does associate it with the contact name.
Any ideas on how to get this done on the HTC S710?
Thanks in advance,
Dan
I don't see anything else than modify the whole phonebook and put +506 (or a needed one) at the beginning of all your numbers. Maybe all your phones were able to display correct number, but I'm afraid that WM can't do it
Nokia only compares the last 7 digits from the right.
I think it's also depends on the network you are connected to.
that's what someone told me anyway so don't take my word from it... here we don't have that problem (even if the number is sored without +972 it still show the name of the contact when SMS arrives).

Contacts not recognized while calling

Hello!
I have quite a strange problem. It appeared after I updated my Polaris to Windows 6.1 and the radio to the newest one. In general, I am really satisfied with the new sys, however there is one problem: telephone calls are not recognized basing on the contact list (which I imported using sprite backup).
It means that even though I have e.g. PersonX with telephone number 1234567 in my contacts, when I receive a call from him there appears the telephone number only (it is not changed into the "PersonX"). Have any of you ever had such a situation? I would be grateful for any suggestions how to solve it...
Best regards,
Theriel
Do You have only one contact with the same number? Not doubled - one in Phonebook and second with the same number on SIM?
Or if you have same contact under different names with the some number two or more times...
Joe Pesci with number +1-555-5555 and
Joe's house with number +1-555-555 and
Pesci, Joe with number +1-555-555
will confuse any mobile phone, and device will write only number. Check toroughly your contacts for duplicate numbers...
Nope, they are not doubled, and there are no contacts on the SIM. There is however another difference that appeared (I do not know if it has anything to do with the problem but...): previously I had all the contacts in the form:
"Johnson, Mike".
Now I have everything in the form "Johnson Mike" - there is no comma. But I am not sure if it tells you anything (maybe just a cosmetic change between roms?)
What is interesting - I can normally call using the contacts list (even from the "Phone" window) - they appear there properly.

Displaying Caller ID to contacts dialled from Call History

My network (AT&T) has a setting which allows me to display my caller ID only to contacts. When I call a number in my address book.contact list, they can see my number but if I just dial a number not in the list, they can't.
But I've noticed that when I call people who are in my contact list from my call history, they see my number as "private". It's easier to dial someone from the call history list than to pick them from the huge contact list I have.
Is there a way to show my caller ID (a registry hack perhaps?) to people who are in my contact list, even if I dial them from my call history?
I'm using a Tilt that runs Windows Mobile 6.1, but I've seen this issue with both Windows Mobile phones I own (the other one is a Cingular 2125 smartphone with Windows mobile 6.1), so I think this is a general Windows Mobile issue than a phone issue.

Caller ID!!!!!

Hey everyone, do they have a WM app for displaying the caller ID name (not just the number) on ANY number, not just your contacts? (On CDMA?) Like, it tells you who it is when one of your contacts call, but when someone else calls it just says their number. Anyone know a fix for CDMA? I have a TELUS Touch Pro.

No Caller ID if calling from landline (fixed-line) phone

I'm using HTC HD2 with wm6.5.
The landline/fixed-line phone # is already saved in my contact.
If my contact calls from landline/fixed-line phone, HD2 only shows phone number w/o caller id.
I tried registry hack, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Phone\CallIDMatch. I tried 7/8, none worked.
