Samsung Announces Galaxy Tab 8.9&10.1; Revised edition is smaller than iPad2 - General Topics

Last month at Mobile World Congress Samsung announced the Galaxy Tab 10.1, a NVIDIA Tegra 2 based Honeycomb tablet. Since then, Apple's iPad 2 raised the bar for ergonomics and performance. Not wanting to be outdone, Samsung just announced a redesigned Galaxy Tab 10.1 that's both thinner and lighter than Apple's iPad 2.
The new Galaxy Tab 10.1 measures only 8.6mm thick and weighs 595 grams. The iPad 2 by comparison is 8.8mm thick and weighs 601 grams. The display is a Xoom-like 1280x800 using Samsung's PLS display technology.

I've seen no mention of it for either one.
And apparently there'll be an iPad-esque adapter for USB host capabilities.
It's a bit disappointing that they don't just put the proper ports on the tablet itself.
Plus, why limit us to microSD cards?
When you're getting up to these sorts of size, I'm sure manufacturers could stretch to a full SDHC slot.

Its great man tablet with gps.

If I had an extra 500 dollars to spend, I would seriously get one of these.

XOOM vs other tablets in the market

hi guyz ,
since honeycombe announced and i am saving money to buy honeycombe tablet but i need help!!
seems like the most known tablets are so expensive and even made me more reluctant to buy them (i didnt like LG) so i have to options the XOOM and the galaxy tab 10.1v,i cant wait for the new GTab coz i hv no one can bring it with him and 28th of this month is my dead line....
so i need your help do you recommend the XOOM to me? is there any bugs/problems with it ( i'll buy the wifi version only)? is it weight a huge problem as media have said? what about the screen is it bad that much?
the Gtb 10.1v is more expensive the XOOM but also with 3G, lighter weight and better screen (as others said,i dont know), but taking in mind in SA it $900 (while the XOOM $600 32GB) it doesn't have an HDMI port and for 16GB
i am stuck in here so i need your help please...
P.S i really care about the updates/support and the performance
Weight is no problem for me. Even when reading comics for a long ass time, I would just switch hands.

Well I don't think David Bailey's got much to worry about. This blurry pic was sent to Know Your Mobile, and the tipster claims it's the Samsung Galaxy S3. They also claim the handset will feature a 4.8-inch screen. It's pretty hard to tell, with a picture of this quality, but let's look at the evidence.
The source says there are no hardware buttons on the device, though the same source previously sent the same site a pic showing buttons apparently Photoshopped in. The screen size claims are also dubious. The source says it measures up at 4.8-inches, but over at Pocketnow they've gone all mathematical on us: busting out Pythagoras' theorem, they calculate the screen measures 4.74-inches. Previous claims peg the screen at anywhere between 4.65-and 4.8-inches. So while this could be the genuine article, it's far from conclusive.
Not long to wait now until we know for sure. Samsung is set to unveil the Galaxy S3 on Wednesday evening at an event in London. Recently the manual leaked -- if that was genuine, we're looking at a 4.8-inch screen and 8-megapixel camera. Though then yesterday a version of the same handset but running Windows Phone 8 was touted, and the source there claimed the S3 will have a 4.7-inch screen and 12-megapixel snapper. So it's anyone's guess really.
As I say, not long to wait now. It should be a top handset, following up on the S2, one of the best phones of last year. My bet? A 4.7-inch screen and 8-megapixel camera. Source : Cnet

You are right some rumors saying it can be a Windows Phone. MAYBE.
i read somewhere that they will make a windows phone version of the gs3 thought is a rumour
Only few days left to finaly have decent pics of the future bomba .
its going to be out by this month end most probably right?
So excited! Come on Samsung! HURRY-UP!

[Q] Refund or keep Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.0? Nexus 7? Microsoft Surface?

I have two days left on my return period at Best Buy for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.0, but I really like it.
I downloaded android apps and I'm reading acrobat .pdf files and text files with ease. It's really good.
But is it overpriced? Save $100 and buy the 7 inch? Buy the Nexus 7? Wait 4 months and buy the Microsoft Surface?
I can already see myself carrying my laptop (90 minutes battery max.) less often, especially since I'm getting 9 hours
on my new tablet. Even if it drops to 6 hours it's pretty good.
I'm using it to read .pdf files and make screenshots and edit the screenshots with my finger. It's amazing. It's already saving me hours.
What do you think? Was I an early-adopter too soon? Should I refund it?
I'm not comfortable with Google's Nexus spying habits (my prediction) and Google's history of invading my privacy. I also don't need a carrier device and monthly data plans. I bought a wifi only device for offline work.
I sync with my PC using the Samsung KIES software, and although it's slow and a little annoying, it's ok. It does the job.
My big concerns:
1. Jelly bean. Did I buy too soon?
2. Superior tablet in 3-4 months with longer battery life and better screen.
3. Buyer's remorse?
4. The future of Ice Creme Sandwich.
My opinion:
There is always going to be some form of buyer's remorse. In 2 months there will be something better, in 2 more months there will be something better than that. If you are happy with the tablet you have now....then stick with it. I have the original GT10.1 and am happy with it. Yes, if I had waited 2 months I could have got the transformer prime or the GT10.1 version 2.
If it's already increased your productivity and you are happy with it...then stick with it. XDA devs make my tablet worthwhile, even with Samsung dragging ass on updates. You have the advantage of an external sd slot, something I don't have.

HTC One Mini for AT&T caught on camera

Although there hasn't been any official announcement of the HTC One Mini, we all know that it is coming, and we know a fair bit about the device. Although, there really isn't a whole lot to know. The device is going to be an HTC One... mini. Still, we've got some leaked pics of the AT&T version of the device, and surprise surprise, it looks like a smaller HTC One.
Luckily, whoever has their hands on the device knew enough to take pics of info screens, so we know that the device has a dual-core QualcommCPU with an Adreno 305 GPU (aka a Snapdragon 400), 1GB of RAM (although previous pics have said 2GB), 16GB of internal storage (with about 11GB free), Android 4.2 with Sense 5, and LTE. We've learned before that the HTC One Mini will have a 4.3" 720p display, although that's not listed in the images here.
We already knew that the HTC One Mini is coming to AT&T, and that's the branding on these pics.

It looks like a knock-off One
Storage size is really pushing it. But that is a fun looking mid-ranger. Give it a solid kernel with s2w and l2m, I wouldn't mind it as a backup phone.

Kind of like the BMW 1-series looks like a smaller 5-series. The One's a beautifully crafted phone made with high-end materials. The Mini's a "phone." I can see the design of the One swaying people toward HTC, not so much with the Mini. Its design isn't special but it’s unique because of the dual frontal speakers and UltraPixels. We'll see how it does. The SGS3 Mini has been out for eight months and you hardly ever hear it mentioned anywhere. Its general forum has 143 threads; this one after just four months has 1,091. At least on XDA, mini phones with mini specs don't create a lot of buzz.
233 MB available ram??? WTF, is this really true for every one mini?
I don't biting!!! Waiting info related to the ram, thanks!

First Look of the Galaxy Note 8

Looks like, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will be VERY similar to the Galaxy S8. Samsung isn't taking big chances. First photos show dual cameras at the back! Eldar Murtazin posted this!
Front looks exactly like the S8.

The sensor will likely be built into the front display as they wanted to do with the s8, just couldn't figure it out in time. But I have my doubts that it's a note prototype because looking at the front and back view, I see no stylus. Dual camera would be nice though :good:

This. And the other leak of a supposed Note8 was false because the S Pen accompanying it was too long and thick to fit in what would be the size of the silo of the phone shown. Pure guess but the "upgrade" for the Note8 will most likely be 4K display, dual camera, 6GB of RAM, display-embedded touch sensor, and a return to 16:9 to accommodate the S Pen silo. Oh, and working Bixby.
Note 8 video sounds/seems potentially pretty awesome! here
