Galaxy Tab..
So i got these three application pre installed in the tab related to muslim religion, the Holy Quron, Qiblah and some direction app.. they were factory installed.
As much as secular as i am.. i dont like having apps in my phone that i didnt put there..
So i went about finding out a way to uninstall them.. Long story short using busybox, superuser and titanium backup i got rid of the three..
Aha i felt like i became a jedi..
till i reset
and found the menu has replaced the icons of those three apps with nothing.. It's Empty..
I tried moving the other apps onto those empty spaces but dont work..
Any ideas people?
* May the force be with you..
This is only a test to see if i get a mail when someone replies..
You can reflash firmware - that will be the best way.. After you delete those apps and you see that all work - just do nandroid backup, and if you need to do reset - just restore backup..
If you do flash stock firmware, as suggested by DemonGloom, or a factory reset (same thing) then you'll get it back to how it was. If you then use Titanium Backup to simply freeze the apps then they'll no longer show in your app drawer (app menu). That's the most effective way of hiding them.
Alternatively, you can use Launcher Pro instead of the stock launcher and you can hide apps from the menu with that as well.
Either way, just get back to stock and take it from there.
Good luck

Since there is so much moaning and groaning about the mysense UI here are a few (noobproof) suggestions on how to get the most "vanilla" experience out of your mytouch. Feel free to add to the list.
Faster performance/vanilla appearance
Set LauncherPro (Plus) as your default launcher.
Search key replacement:
Since the search button is replaced by the genius button I would suggest the following: in launcherplus (home screen) long press the dock key that normally opens the application drawer. Select: swipe gesture action -> launch shortcut -> activities -> google search -> com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox.SearchActivity
Now you can bring up the search widget on your home screen by simply swiping your finger over the app drawer key (swipe up)
removing bloatware:
there are several methods but I find this to be the easiest.
Install visionary from market and temp-root the device
install titanium backup (EDIT: you might need to buy the Pro version)
open titanium backup, press "problems?" and install busybox (needed after every reboot)
reopen titanium backup and go to backup/restore
click on an unwanted application and select "freeze". This will not fully remove the application but will permanently disable it so it will not show up in the launcher or run in the background. you can freeze/unfreeze applications as you want. Freezing is NOT undone by rebooting the phone and has to be undone in titanium backup.
If you are seriously worried about the space these applications take up you can also long press an application in titanium backup and select "force remove app (by recovery exploit)" which will permanently remove the app. (might cause problems with OTA updates)
Disabling T-mobile crap
settings -> accounts & sync -> disable T-mobile sync
make sure to save new contacts as google contacts (t-mobile automatically set to default)
Still not satisfied?
settings -> SD & phone storage -> factory data reset -> put back in box -> exchange for G2
Hope this helps
cool didnt know about the freeze thing, ill do that as i heard if you delete the apps you wont get OTA updates
Oh and I'd turn off the t-mobile account sync. Let me know if anyone figures out how to make google contacts standard when creating new contacts
is there much space to be saved by force removing a app or will freezing any certain apps make the phone run any faster? i installed launcher pro /better keyboard/ handcent probably 5mins after opening up the MT4G.. i did the visionary root like 2 days ago, along with setcpu .. and the phone is running pretty good hitting high 1900's and low 20xx quadrant benchmark scores..but if i can make it run faster by removing some apps not used i will.
I found that I could use a terminal emulator to disable the bloatware at the package level. Does this do the same as "freezing"?

Yep, it's the same thing just that Titanium backup runs the script for you and keeps track of what you froze so you can see what's frozen and whats not. It's the same thing just more user friendly.

Exactly the same.
Ooops. Beat me to it.
Thanks, I might have to re-enable them and then go do it through titanium backup.

I don't think there is much to be gained by force removing apps (over just freezing). Yes, you free up some internal memory but it's unlikely you'll ever need it. Even with all the preinstalled crap and all of my applications (quite a few and none installed to sd yet) I still have over 800mb of free space. There is no way I'm ever gonna use it all. On the flip side you might even run into some OTA problems when removing some apps like some G2 owners did with Google Goggles.
I would just go ahead and freeze all the preinstalled apps you don't need. That'll stop them from running in the background and potentially wasting memory and battery power. Chances are you won't notice a big performance increase since the MTG4 can handle a lot of background processes but at least the junk won't clutter up your app drawer any longer

I don't know, but I'm quite sure that freezing is 'premium' feature of this most well-deserved piece of software.

Weird - I uninstalled both, the pro key and the free version and only reinstalled the free version. It let me freeze/defrost apps just fine just using the free version. Maybe because I already had some apps frozen (which it recognized as such) when I reinstalled the free version?!?

To those who flash roms all the time, I've noticed that sometimes when I do a full Titanium restore after a fresh ROM flash, sometimes Titanium Backup will restore Launcher Pro where it doesn't go "Error loading Widget" for every widget. Instead sometimes I get a full proper restore.
This is clearly an issue for those of us that customize so much that we have overlapping stretching widgets that we need to play widget tetris.
How can I get Titanium backup to do this? I haven't investigated enough but it's clearly a set of events that I've done to get it to work SOMETIMES....
So far I've noticed that this has happened with Nandroid backups for "ROMs" on the Milestone. Those Nandroid backups are essentially bare bone OS installations with customized stuff (since we have a locked bootloader still, so updates are harder). I usually do a Ti backup full restore and sometimes the widgets of my Launcher Pro restore perfectly.
It is android not letting you restore widgets. It just doesn't work. not TiBu or LP or any other home screen replacement.
Get Gingerbread and maybe that will fix your problem.

The problem is it does it once in a while. I know it's not supposed to work becase only the official Launcher Pro widgets will be restored. You are supposed to have to add back your own widgets, but once in a while a titanium backup restore upon flashing a new rom gives me my original homescreen where I don't have to manually re-add any widgets.
I think you're on something because it doesn't.. only reason LP widgets work is because you're using it's own widgets and the launcher can load it because it's its own propriety. I think the only way you can have widgets restored to state is through a nandroid restore.. and even that i'm not too sure.
It's a security thing, Android doesn't let any program, aside from the official Widget Picker, add a new Widget. So when you restore, the Launcher tries to add the Widget, Android checks to see if that program is authorized for that widget. If it is, it adds it. If not you get the error or empty space.
If you restore the data without uninstalling Launcher Pro or resetting your phone, I imagine Android still has the widget authorized so no permission error occurs.

It has done it.
You are right that a Nandroid restore will restore everything because a Nandroid is essentially like an HD image. But I can assure you what I'm talking about was a Titanium Backup incident. My problem is that I've seen it a few times, but I haven't investigated it enough to reproduce it or to see how to get it. Perhaps someone here has also seen it before, but shrugged it off.
I'm a Milestone User and when we still had Eclair mods like this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765346
The modder replaced the default launcher.apk with LauncherPro. So what happens is he uses Nandroid to make a Nandroid image of his "ROM." Yes. Locked bootloader FTL. So we use Nandroid images. Essentially it's still a bare bones version of a ROM.
Well, I have all my apps backed up on Titanium Backup before I install this because its like a full wipe. I then restore all my apps.
Now I've only used like 8 versions of his ROM compared to like 2-3 of other ROMs, so perhaps its the fact that when installing his ROM, he already HAS LauncherPro as the default system launcher. Thus when I'm restoring my Titanium Backup, when it reads my Launcher Pro settings and puts it in the system app, it has no problem accessing widgets.
I do remember it failing once in a while too, but there have been AT LEAST 3-4 times where I did NOT have to restore any of my own widgets.
Once again I highly suspect this has something to do with having LauncherPro integrated in the Nandroid backup, even if it doesn't have any of my widgets.
I'm asking this because I'm using CM6 now and it uses the update.zip method and obviously I can't trigger the LauncherPro thing anymore. I don't know how it worked before, as it seems to be a bug. I completely understand that Launcher Pro is not supposed to allow restoring of non LP widgets. How it's done it before, I do not know.

This too has happened with me as well and not only with TB but also Mybackup root as well, TB has option like applications widgets and MBR says android home, I flash alot and I say 10% of my restores this happens with (working) I tried every ordering i can think of to reproduce it but never can seems completely random. I wish someone could figure this out because it does work just not sure how to always reproduce it.
He is not on anything... This has happened to me also.
Like he said every once and a while after installing a new rom and doing a titanium restore everything goes back to normal widgets and all.
This would be very helpful for me because I don't use icons at all. I strictly use custom Icon and desktop visualizer. So this would be huge to figure out the work around to make it work every time
Stupid question..
Have you tried restoring everything BUT LP with Titanium, let it finish, then restore LP with Titanium?
i reinstall new rom > wait 15 > reboot.
restore backups via titanium > reboot.
at this stage, my widgets don't display. i'll usually open market to login, open talk, maps. whatever else requires logins or permissions and reboot.
most of the time, after this last reboot my widgets appear, but this time they didn't. after restoring tons of stuff again and rebooting, no change.
this time i opened google finance (which i have a widget for and requires login). i allowed it's permissions and rebooted. my widgets appeared.
in this one case, i believe i had to open each application i have a widget for to make sure they were all logged in, then reboot.
i hate having to restore my widgets each time. i'd love to figure out the secret to restoring them consistently.
I can get Titanium to restore all my widgets every time. I use TB to backup "Application Widgets" before flashing a new ROM.
Obviously once I restore all my apps with Titanium Backup my Widgets all show up with the error. But if I restore "Application Widgets" again and immediately restart my phone using a quick reboot app (I use Hot Reboot) the widgets all load fine.
I'll usually do a full restore of all my apps. Put a Hot Reboot widget on my homescreen. Restore "Application Widgets" again. Reboot using Hot Reboot. Then when the phone is done booting all my Widgets appear correctly (minus the Hot Reboot widget I just added, it errors out).
Don't know if it'll work for everyone but it works every time for me. Saves a lot me time.
EDIT: Works perfect!

I don't believe it has anything to do with Launcher Pro actually. It's listed in green for me indicating that it's a "System service with useful data". I have the paid version of TB and I have no idea if that has anything to do with it.
It's available for me in batch mode and through backup/restore. It's exact name is "Application Widgets" the icon is the Titanium Backup Circle and it's listed in green with all the other Apps that start with A.
I see Application Widgets on the free version also, I haven't tried it before though...next time I switch ROM's I'll give it a shot!

The "System Service with useful data" is in the legend if you hit menu. It describes what the programs written in green indicate. Maybe try a Batch backup of all system data, and look for it in there. If you do a Batch "Backup of all system data" do you have anything in that list listed with green writing?
Edit: I guess it may depend on your root status as well. I know I'm rooted with S-Off, maybe that has something to do with it if you're not.
thank you.this trick is working perfect. i tried it with a cm7 rom in hd2
got it
Going to try this now - flashing another ROM just to see.

Sorry for digging up an old thread but I just had to say thank you for this. Really saved me a buttload of time! THANKS!
My screen is very difficult to activate items on the Launcher Pro Dock such as the App Drawer, etc. For that matter any icons near the dock in either Landscape or Portrait are difficult are require more pressure or tapping numerous times.
I have already tried TouchRecalibrate with no apparent change.
Any suggestions?
If it weren't for the app drawer I would gorgo using the dock. Anyway to get an icon to open the app drawer somewhere other on my screen rather than on the dock? That would solve my problem
Forgot to mention it is TnT Lite v3.13
First of all, why are you on TnT lite v3.13? Latest is 4.2.2, and is much improved.
Have you tried gojimi's touch recalibration .apk at this link?
If this doesn't work, you can try it the old manual way by creating a blank file named "calibration.ini" , and place it in /sdcard and /sdcard2, for good measure.
Reboot and it should be better, Do Not Touch the screen while it's rebooting. After boot, rename files to .bak or just delete them so it doesn't recalibrate every boot.
If none of it works, you could try to fix permissions in clockworkmod (simplest), or wipe user data and caches (you'll have to re-install apps), or (last resort) nvflash back to original stock ROM, re-partition sdcard 2048 and 0 ( this deletes contents of sdcard, so back up data first!!!), and start over from scratch with bekit's clockworkmod (bekit-0.8) and then latest TnT lite.
Did you forget to pluck the chicken?
You can create a folder on your desktop and drag all your apps to that folder but that may take awhile depending on the number of apps you have.
There's also an app that you can try but it looks kinda ugly to me: http://www.appbrain.com/app/everywhere-app-drawer/com.E.App.Drawer
Thanks, The calibration.ini file did not seem to make a difference. I am kinda new to this stuff. How do I upgrade to the latest TNT? I have clockwork .08?. I have titanium. Not sure what to do. Will I have to redo the market fix and everything else?
Everything is running great the way it is but for this issue. Can I get an APP DRAWER to relocate where I want it on the screen. Is there an app that can do this for me?
install smart taskbar from the market.
If you backup your apps with titanium the upgrade is pretty painless. Download the latest TnTlite. Reboot in to clockwork and clear data/cache. Flash the new TnTlite. REstore your apps with titanium
I c ame up with a fix that works for me for now. I was able to remap the Home Button to open the app drawer. And it still opens the RECENT APPS on long pressing. I am glad I can open the app drewer with ease now. I will think about upgrading to latest TNT, but hate to start over. All is running well.
I did it in the Launcher Pro settings under BEHAVIOR SETTINGS and changed the action of the Home Screen Button
Thanks all that replied. I did flash 4.2.2 and all is good now.
Hey Guys,
read some threads about backup, but i couldn't find one, that answers my questions...
I'm using ARHD on my Sensation an Mike recommends SuperWiping on every new Base.
It's a bit annoying that I have to set up Wifi-Networks, Backgroundimages, Ring Tones and Homescreen Settings etc. after every SuperWipe.
Is it possible to backup those things without getting problems with new ROM ? I use Titanium for backing up my Games and other Apps.
Greetz!
If you enable Google Backup and Restore it'll automatically restore your Wi-Fi networks and background.
Only the homescreen icon layout will can be restored. Widgets won't be restored.
You can also use Titanium Backup. But be careful what system info you back up. restoring some things can cause issues.
Well, what do if have to restore in TB to get all my settings and personalizations back ?
I always backup everything and when I get new ROM, I restore apps and things, which are marked green in the batch restore screen. If it doesn't work, try some white-color-marked things. But things marked with red color shouldn't be restored, unless you know, what you're doing. I prefer setting it again, it's much safer.
Don't restore white things, if you are coming from GB to ICS or sense 3.0 to 3.5 etc.
Thanks for your answer. I found "Wifi AP" "Desktop" etc. in Titanium itself now, so i don't need another App !
Hey There
Ok just unlocked the bootloader and installed TWRP and Magisk and on the most recent updates
On previous one plus phones I used Custom Roms but sticking with stock this time
So restored apps via Google drive and just have a few issues
Scrolling through the settings and apps some I dont want to appear there. Example I have 3 Titanium apps?? On regular one Titatnium Back up add on and one Titanium Back up Pro. Another example is Nova Launcher and Nova Settings.
How can I remove some of these apps?
Using Titanium I tried to remove the apps I dont need like Google Play movies, Netflix etc. Removed them but still showing?. However when I try to remove others eg Digital Wellbeing I get failed to locate the apk file?? Do I have to remove apps and install from scratch rather than have back ups from previous phone(OP5 on old rom)
Using Magisk and want to install You Tube Vanced. I have downloaded this and can see its installed but cannot see it on the list of apps?
Final one simple thing trying to get the settings for phone. I pull down the top screen and I can see that the phone is set on vibrate but how can I change settings to silent, ring etc.
Still trying to figure the above out if anyone can assist some maybe DAH questions I should know but just seeking assistance
Cheers

You talking about the app drawer? If you have nova, you can hide anything you don't want to see through Nova settings. If you are talking about completely removing some system apps, find a debloater. Pretty sure there is one on here, and there is also xXx-nolimits magisk rom that can also debloat and add things (like YouTube vanced).
You might have YouTube vanced installed, but I believe you need to uninstall any updates to actual YouTube. Might even need to delete it entirely. Not too sure as Ive never used vanced as I don't see the point.
The switch on the side of the phone may be on vibrate. Try pushing it all the way up or down. Other than that, should just be in sound settings.
Yes, for Youtube Vanced you need to go into the app details for Youtube and uninstall all updates then uncheck the box for auto updates.
