I've been learning and lurking quite a bit since I bought my gtab about a month ago. I've rooted, flashed CWM, and am running Vegan 5.1.1. In all my browsing of topics I come across people comparing quadrant scores before and after they change things but most of the scores I'm seeing are in the 2300-2600 range. I grabbed quadrant off the market and have run it about 40 times and I'm almost always in the 2950-3100 range and I'm wondering how my tab is running so much faster and is there anything I can do to help you guys get the same scores. Anyways, thanks a ton for putting in such a tremendous effort to make this tablet soo awesome.

With vegan beta 5.1.1 and chengus patch along with clemsyns new kernel I have a 20 time quadrant average of 3333. Quadrant is crap though. Its all just bragging rites. Clemsyns new kernel upped my framerate to a solid 75 during the moon sequence but dropped my quadrant. I will take the web and 3d boost over a number any day.
Part of why I was asking this was I was about to update to that new kernel but didn't know if I should.

I say do it. I noticed an immediate boost in web functionality. Choppyness and distortions went down and scrolling speeds went up. It's amassed me so far.
Load it in then reboot and let the system normalize and power down. After the second boot it really shines. This is because first boot re builds the davlik cash after wipe and tends to be slower till second boot.

Ok I've just performed the Super Rooter Extreme guide and I'm currently getting around 1780 for a quadrant score.... while it's much better than the 900's I was wondering how I can make this thing even faster? Some folks are reporting a 2500+ quadrant on this phone and I'm wondering how to get closer to that score?

The higher scores are coming from people running an EXT2 version of the lagfix. The differences in real world speed between the two really aren't noticeable- just looks pretty in quadrant =P
I think you are hung up on numbers rather then looking at real world performance...
And ext2 lacks any features to guarantee the safety of your data in the event of crash or power loss. And the loopback hacks probably cause both filesystems to cache data, and I don't think anybody has analyzed what this arrangement does for data safety.

I'm getting 2001 with SRE with the 1.2ghz patch and baked in lagfix.
Well what prompted me to inquire is the fact that live wallpapers are laggy for me... well I mean they play smooth and then chug for a second then play smooth again then chugs for a second... It's not completely smooth and fluid 100% of the time.
That may be a configuration issues on your end. Or perhaps a bad flash.
Live wallpapers worked perfectly for me on my stock ROM.
There's also the possibility that it's the particular live wallpaper you're using... maybe it's poorly coded or otherwise busted.
Now if the problem persists with all wallpapers uhhh maybe you've got something else installed that doesn't agree with the system
I was running scores of over 2k each run.. running perfect storm 1.3v and bamf 4.3b kernel. I updated to 4.42. Delete the cache in setup CPU.. and auto set it to abt 1400+ now my phone is constantly running in he 1700 quadrant... Someone please help..
edit* sometimes when i run quadrant the cpu section won't even calculate and jumps directly to the second test... omg

Why are you so concerned with what Quadrant says? Your last paragraph sounds as though you spend hours running Quadrant over and over lol. Just enjoy the phone!
this is my first android, so i'm seeing how every rom and every kernel can effect the the speed.. but now i'm running sub scores, and i feel like maybe this kernel isn't as good.. i tried flashing back to 4.3b.. but no luck, i feel like there is something wrong with the phone
When you are flashing are you doing a factory wipe, cache wipe and dalvik wipe. That may help. As for the 1700 that is what I am getting on a cleaned stock rooted rom. My phone is fast. Once you get into overclocking I feel it effects the life on the phone, but that is just my opinion.

Thus has gotten misinterpreted on the web. Quadrant scores are meaningless between devices. One phone could get low scores but be optimized to run smooth and fast. While some other device could get high scores but be optimized poorly and run bad.
HOWEVER, scores do have meaning compared within the same phone model. A thunderbolt vs thunderbolt has meaning. It foes show the performance of how well the phone can do tasks like dcriol a list, crunch thru some JavaScript or HTML, or load a game.
I see everyone say benchmark test scores are meaningless, and that original statement meant "meaningless between different models", but not comparing within the same model.
A nexus one on gingerbread only gets 1000 on quadrant, and its slower and choppy scrolling lists. But the nexus one on froyo gets 1650 easily, and froyo was way smoother scrolling lists etc. The lower score shows its reduced performance ability to do various tasks, and it shows in actual use.

very true but some kernels have various tweaks that can inflate quadrant scores...also on the droid x you could blow up quadrant by disabling stage fright. these phones are so fast it's hard to tell the difference. i've tested just about every kernel and overclocked all the way to 2.06 and the phone goes from really fast... to really really fast... to overheating and unstable lol
i use linpack and cpu benchmark to compare kernels and overclock/governor settings...pretty much gave up on quadrant
Quadrant means nothing... If you can run this piss out of your phone and not make it stall... Its fast enough.

That should be good. I agree that something about that kernel might be suspect.
If you're bored, try the kernel that I'm running. Option to overclock to 1.4 or 1.9 depending on which you select, Good battery life, and stable. 1.4 gets 23XX on quad and the 1.9 gets people 2700-3000. No cheating too.
So, after people started reporting that their benchmarks are in the 3000's, I decided to flash from ginger RC1 and holy cow this is freakin' fast. Even before I ran the quadrant test everything felt so fast. Twice as fast as vegan gingerbread. I wanted to run the quadrant with all the apps and stuff that I'd be running (quickoffice, dolphin, etc.) and holy cow benchmark was still in the 3000's every time.
I ain't moving to any other rom until someone finds something faster.
Does the unit feel warm or hot ? The rated CPU clock speed is 1.2 (or 1.0, not sure). I am a bit concerned about overclocking to 1.5 at higher voltage. In addition, what apps that were slow and are needing this kind of power ?
Thanks
Sweet.. but honestly with out video drivers for gingerbread its utterly pointless for me :O( Keep us updated on how stable it is :O)

Since when did we "need" anything? The gtab will work just fine with the stock rom. But with a custom rom, it works better. The clakulin+clemsyn v3 combo works even better. I just like the raw power that it gives me.
Added by edit.
But to answer your questions, doesn't feel warm or hot to me at all. Battery life is undoubtedly reduced, although I'm still trying to determine by how much. Stand by for this.

I was concerned about heat and the case feels a bit warmer but not significantly. I guess we will see over time. I would say battery life is reduced but I don't have any numbers. The devs have included a nifty OC profile based on battery life. This is my new favorite rom.
This combo is crazy fast. I scored a 3521 on quadrant. I have been running it for 24 hrs now with no issues. Does not seem to be running hot at all. Battery life seems fine but Im sure it is using more juice.

Here. Nuff said.
Edit.
Keep in mind that I've already installed apps like quickoffice and such. In other words, if I had ran this test right after I flashed this rom I'm sure the score would have been higher.
Here you go: 4484, that beats 345 xooms even overclocked . Oh my.
Sorry about the resolution. I didn't know if I posted at full size if the picture would be huge or not.

How the flying pigs did you get it up to 4484?
Ok, so I ran it a few more times and it seemed a little sluggish as I had been putting it through its paces today . I shut it down and rebooted. I just ran it 3 times in a row. My lowest score after letting it sit for a bit was 4521, best of the 3 was 4665! Yikes.

I am also using and loving this rom. Love the smooth video with Froyo (but wish it could work with Ginger).
It feels slightly warmer than before I think, but the temp sensor never reads above 87 degrees F, which has to be a safe operating temp, right?
Consistently getting ~3500 quadrants with many apps.

Listen to me very carefully. The devs are doing this on their own time without getting paid. Us lowly humans don't wish anything. Ok? Clemsyn said he was going to do ginger soon, and that's his choice. We don't wish anything. Ok? He's not obligated to do anything. What he's done for froyo is way way way beyond what he's suppose to do, which is nothing. Ok? He made it clear just last week that his intention was to return the gtab and move on with his life. He then decided to stick around and created new roms that are almost twice as fast as previous roms.
If you're disappointed, then Clemsyn could just drop the whole thing and leave. If you're disappointed, please go buy an ipad 2, ok?
In fact, I highly recommend against getting a gtab for most people. I promise, you will not be disappointed with the ipad 2. Love you long time. Go, put the disappointment of a device gtab up on ebay and go out and buy the ipad 2 now, please, before you get any more disappointed.

Very nice. Xoom owners will hate you for sure.
Thank you and others for posting scores.
Very fast. Always loved Calkulin's ROM, and I've come home after playing with Vegan GB for a while (also a great ROM). It also appears that the OC settings work with pershoot's OC kernel as well. I love the fact that it clocks based on battery life.
@goodintentions
Geez guy, did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning? It's not like he posted a long harrasing write up for Gingerbread. It was subtle just like you should be. Chill out please.
On that note does anyone have a video of this "Beast ROM" in action?
Wish I could get this combo running. I have been running C&C 1.1+v9 for awhile now and love it. I can't get any of the OC kernals running. The only way I can get this to boot is to install the C&C OC combo and before booting I have to install Clemsyn's v9 kernal. I can't get Pershoots 1.4 ghz kernel running either.
The best I have gotten was with the C&C combo and then installing Clemsyn's OC Extra kernal and I can get to the HC animated boot screen but it never gets past that. My son and I bought our gtabs the same day and his runs all the OC kernels.. Oh Well...

More like waking up on the couch. My boy friend got mistaken for a prostitute by some narcissitic asshole the other night and now I'm (a guy like all other guys) taking the blunt.
Hi all, first time posting and sorry if this has been asked before. I am running cm7 nightly and have recently tried the quadrant benchmark and am getting some pretty low scores. I know these builds are not stable but even so the scores are low. getting mid 1600s and I have seen other around 2200. is this just because of the cm7 build? thanks.
Sent from my SGH-I897 using Tapatalk
Install this kernel, overclock to 12-1300mhz and try again.
wow sweet! bumped to 1200 and ran a 2000 on quadrant. what's the most the captivate CPU can handle?
Sent from my SGH-I897 using Tapatalk
Can't really say much for Quadrant, as I haven't run it in forever, but I run 1.5ghz stable 24/7 on cm7 w/ glitch. Runs buttery smooth through pretty much any app.
I've kinda been out of the loop in regards to the Captivate, but afaik max clock is 1.6.
I heard something about shao doing a 1.8 kernel, but again, idk how true it is or anything, and I'm lax in time, so I can't really research lol.
yea i see the option to run at 1.6 just didnt know if it was safe to do so. I bet 1.5 runs smooth. Thanks.
Quadrant is nothing of a benchmark, the hummingbird kernel isn't even read correctly. On the CM7 forum I've mentioned this before. Basing everything off a quadrant score is complete in the redundant theory, try using a real benchmark, suggestion.
Smartbench> quadrant
Sent from I'm sure glad Danger went under, else I'd still be on a Mr.Cartoon SK2.
As stated above. Don't put to much into scores. Judge by real world feel. I can show you a Rom that scores almost 3000 on quadrant but runs like crap. Trust your judgement. As for overclocking, it is device dependent. My cap couldn't handle anything over 1.3.
And yes all this has been stated before. A search would have saved you some time.

upon first receiving my skyrocket quadrant scores were 3700+ .. well after a superoneclick root the next day I test again and well what do ya know :slaps forehead: the score is 3100 or so.
what.in.the.world .
nothing is running that wasn't before did it exactly the same, reboot and kill excess running apps with the built in task manager.
ugh so any thoughts on this
What I realized was that rebooting a phone and doing a quadrant benchmark will always yield scores in the low 3's or high 2's. 20 minutes after rebooting, I run quadrant, and I always get 3700-3900. This tells me, that the phone has a lot of background processes it runs for a long time after it has booted. Just don't bother doing any benchmarks during this time.
I once saw 4000+. Had to take a screen capture of it.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Unless you are seeing a drop in actual performance i.e. laggy scrolling or browsing. Benchmark scores are not the tell-all when your trying to measure your phone. They give you a ballpark range of performance.
well coming from an x10 all I feel is 'now THIS is how myyyy phone should run' not even a need to install custom roms or anything .
Ive been hugging my skyrocket nite nite nightly for the past month or so , even the occassional bedtime story once in awhile fellas ...
just was wondering how rooting it the other day (yes, those roms are indeed calling) seemingly caused a drop in points.
I thought it may have been TiBackup but it wasn't even running as it always did upon startup on my x10
thanks for chiming in

a 600 point drop is not that much. my scores fluctuate from 2900-3800 all the time.
if you really wana impress people try this: http://www.androidcentral.com/how-cheat-android-benchmarks
i got a 5200 lol
wow load quadrant into memory though how nasty. oh btw after rebooting and letting phone settle 30 minutes as suggested , browsing pages and only clearing the caches in dolphin mini and opera mobile I got an oh so solid 2700 on quadrant .
my software is interacting it's arse off ,truly.
how is my sig looking :/
hey where is it! lol smh
EDIT: not good
After the quadrant app updated, my score dropped...
From Dee-Hos's Skyrocket...
see dee you didn't load it into memory :/
load dat dere brah
now I'm getting 3800 of so with a custom rom pffff. it was impressive on x10 going from 700-800 to 1100-1200 knowing the custom rom worked magic even before bench app tests were done, kind of a moot point with the skyrocket ey
thanks guys
