Hi , i rooted my phone (after much tries , finally using Super One Click) , then i unrooted it. Now for some reason , my phone hangs whenever i turn on Wi Fi.
It wasnt happening when i bought the phone (Just a week ago)
I need help on how to restore it to complete factory sealed settings.
I'm in India(if that creates a difference in firmware).
Thanks !
You can factory reset but this will loose all your data/ contacts/images/sms/apps you installed from the market so take backup via kies if you need that data.
Settings > privacy> factory data reset
Hope you get it all new after reset, let us know.
Thanks for the suggestion , but i did a factory reset(many times over) , but it still hangs at the WiFi scanning networks . Also , the phone's performance seems to have degraded VERY MUCh.
:'(
if you want to hard reset your phone then go to the dialer and type the following code *2767*3855#
before this first make a backup of your phone by kies and do it at your own risk
Just did a hard reset , phone is rebooting..
EDIT : Rebooted Phone , tried to turn on Wi-Fi , again stuck...
How can i restore it to completely factory settings , like when i bought it ?
Check your wifi settings
hardware problem with the antenna may be the problem for which u have to go to samsung.
The phone's kinda slow as well...
How do i check if it's the antenna ? i mean , is there any way ?
And no way to fall back to Sealed settings ?
When you did hard reset did all the installed apps returned to default setings?
after market apps were removed?
Did you instaled any app from the market to manage the wifi network?
I dont know any other way as yet best is to take it to samsung workshop as its under warranty.
To the best of my knowledge , yes the apps went back to their default state after the hard reset..I couldnt figure out how it was any different from the "Wipe Cache/Factory Reset" in the aNDROID recovery.
The problem actually started when i wanted to connect to an ad hoc network which i made on my laptop and android cant see it by default.
So , i replaced the wpa_supplicant by a custom file.
Wifi hanged for the first time.
Then somehow i copied back the default wpa_supplicant file but the problem is still on. I used adb to push as far as i remember.
Maybe i should try putting the default wpa_supplicant file back but im pretty sure that i've already done that.
I copied the instructions from emoiz.com,ad hoc networking and the comments said that it was working , but i got screwed...
Taking to samsung would be the easiest route unless you have other reasons not to do so, they should be able to sort this out.
Took it to the service station , the "Sir" who was supposed to handle software couldnt even do a factory reset thru android recovery , he said it cant be done thru software...I thought otherwise...
so dont they have the hardware reset, how else do they solve your problem, tell them you have got a new handset which is not working to connect to wifi.
Call the samsung helpline & register a service complain get the complaint number, even I am having some issue with the camera setting, will post a new thread to confirm then take it to the service center.
friggin Holi came in between...Will have to wait till wednesday(23 March) , but i guess ill wait till then ...Will give other options a go whille im at it though.
well , i maybe onto something...please i need to know from someone with a GT i9003 that what are the contents of the /data/wifi directory.

even IF I am an I9000 user not i9003 , it should still work to flash with odin I guess. If you know the Phone , Pda and CSC of your phone , search your rom on xda or samfirmware.com and download it , put the files in odin , put phone in download mode (Volume down + Big Home Button and then Power at the same time ) , plug usb to phone and computer , close other apps , hit start and wait to finish ( don't touch phone until it restarts ) . If you brick your phone , don't blame me , I just made a sugestion .

i have same prob u have to hardrest thn root again and replace that original wap

Hello,
When we start for the first time the TF101 (after buying or flashing with a new rom after a wipe data), a setup wizard asks us for some options. In these options there is a choice for enabling 3G/Wifi or only Wifi.
I would like to know how to start again this setup wizard without wiping data!
How can I do?
Regards,
kasi
Why? Not trying to be rude, but anything you can do in setup wizard you can do already outside of that. I always delete setup.apk and setupwizard.apk from all my devices because the life of it is over after we use it initially.
because i would like to have the 3G option back ;-) And it's the only first time to have this choice.
so you tell that files are named setup.apk and setupwizard.apk ? But which one is the real file I need?
Are these files deleted after the first boot?
Those options are inside of Settings > Wireless & Networrks > Mobile Networks.
Nope.
These options were in my Settings but disapeared after Prime v1.6 update.
So to get back this Mobile Network option I have to wipe data and then restart my TF101. The setup wizard will ask me what I want to use and then I will have it.
But for the moment I lost it.
So I would like to start again the setup wizard without wiping my data.
I have the same problem, it seems that we have to go back to prime 1.5 via Nvflash for access to 3G/Wifi model. is there any way? restart to factory is not useful.

Indeed. I've tried, after backing up my app/data, to wipe data/factory reset and same thing.
This option is no more in Settings!
Yes of course we can do a nvflash with Prime 1.5 but.... I think there is another thing to do....

I delete those two files by hand with root explorer..they are NOT deleted after you run them. They are no good anyway after you use the setup wizard the first time. I don't have a clue what could be your problem since just use wifi only. I would start from the very beginning and put in a rooted stock rom. Sometimes trying to save data is not worth the hassle of trying to repair the problem.
Thx for your reply life64x.
I've already tried to restore, to flash again and even to wipe/data.
But even after wiping data/factory reset the setup wizard doesn't ask me anymore to choose between "3G and Wifi" or "Wifi only".
For the apk file (setupwizard), I found it and launched it. Installation seemed to be ok but can't find a shortcut neither in Apps nor in Settings. Not even in Listed Apps for uninstall.
I think there is something missing in the Prime v1.6
Try asking the Prime author is he removed those options?
O? You bought the 3G version?
I didn't know 3G model is available any where but Italy at the moment,
sorry if I misunderstood, but why else would you want to enable 3G on a wifi only device?

no, rightnow there is not any 3g model available anywhere. but, there was a setting in previous version of prime rom, If we would be able to active 3g/wifi in setup, we can use 3g usb modems(dongle).
I assume you have ADB already, then type this line: "adb shell am start -n com.google.android.setupwizard/.SetupWizardTestActivity"
:good:
Hmmm... question from 2011.... I found since.... ^^
Thx
So, There is a telemarketing company thats offering the Nexus S 4g from sprint for $49.99 a month and you only pay $100 for the phone. you get unlimited everything.
the thing is that every cellphone they give you comes with a pre-installed app called "RawData" which records all your calls, texts, data usage. they basically stalk your phone.
For some nasty reason the app to make calls, is pre-installed with raw data so when you dial a number, it sends the call to "RawData's" servers and forwards it to the number. I found out about this when I rooted the nexus and uninstalled "rawdata" but then my no so smart mind said "WELL HEY, WHAT IF I UNINSTALL THE TALK APP?" well i did, sadly it wont even call 911, when you press dial it says the app crashed.
I tried giving it a factory reset, and it turned on, and when it comes to the setup where it tells me to "touch the android to begin".
i press it and it seems to look highlighted when i press it, but it doesnt pass from there... so i was trying to install the stock rom from clockwork recovery, but it seems that the nexus doesnt have a memory card slot, and when i press install update from sd, it says "error, directory not found" or something like that...
is there another way i can install the Stock rom? oh by the way, i was messing with the recovery so i deleted the boot, so it only boots to recovery with luck..
1.how do i change the settings of clockwork to look in the internal memory for the update.zip.
2.have you heard of rawdata before?
3.whats the point of rawdata?
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
did you try to go to mount the /sdcard in CWrecovery?
I did, but i just figured out that my update.zip might not be the right one, it still gives me that error, but i downloaded clockwork recovery 7 and installed it from from the old recovery menu and it successfully insalled and turned on my nexus, but now i still have problems with the dial pad, i try to make a call, i dial the numbers and when i press call the app crashes.. any idea?
sir i think that the rom you got is corrupted try to check the md5sum first before flashing...let me know ok?

Hey I can probably upload the phone app on here for you. Just always make sure to back up your stuff. But if you want you can get it. Navigate to the folder where you download it and then navigate to the system app folder copy and replace. It. But first can you do this for me. Go into rom manager and back up your current rom. Do not delete any. And you might be able to flash back to stock through rom manager. Get like a new rom download a free one and flash that to see if it fixes the phone problem. But first see if you can restore through rom manager. Sorry if this is confusing.
Nexus S 4G using miui.us with matr1x kernal 9.0 and batttweak RC1
...
That would be great if you could upload the Phone app.. I just did the back up, but im having a hard time finding a download to a Stock Rom, so I started downloading a custom rom to see if it makes any difference.
earlier today I found out my little sister knew my pattern so I changed it. But when I changing the pattern I didn't pay attention a lot and know I forgot the pattern. My data and WiFi are disabled.I can't sign in to my google account with the phone now.
My question: I can't sign in because data/wifi is off? If yes is there a way to turn on wifi or data without unlocking phone?
I'll be thankful if someone help me because I can't loose my apps and setting

Hi, you can go into recovery mode and make a data wipe, but you will loose all apps and configurations.
On CM10.2 is it possible to activate wifi or data from lock screen but i don't kow cm 7, sorry

if you have usb debugging enabled you can break it with adb by using adb shell commands
follow this guide in my blog http://www.blog-android.com/general/break-pattern-lock/ for more details and dont use that aroma method it is only for mediatek devices
you can try the other methods given there

I don't know why you facing this! if I forget my password/pin my phone gives me a option to enter my gmail id and password and then directs me to change the password/pin! this occurs even If I remove my SIM card also!
anyway a probable solution for you - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2225695
I am just sharing my experience
I had locked gionee m2 without root and without debugging enabled I was able to disable lock with out wiping data
What I did was
1)flashed carliv touch recovery using special flash tool
Use PC to Flash*recovery.img*using sp-flash tools. (Please be aware of how to install required drivers etc..)
Select original scatter file of your version of ROM. If You are using stock ROM, Make sure that you have not altered the phone partitioning earlier.*
Be careful and Remember to select/tick only 'recovery' in the list. You can also check preloader if you like. and select ONly 'download' button. (NOT firmware upgrade!). Connect your switched off phone to your PC. Wait till your task is complete. Shows you a green circle.
2)backup of data was made using carliv touch recovery (ofcourse with locked phone data)just in case anything goes wrong.
At this moment carliv touch recovery was working but boot and power options were not functioning
3)now flashed rooting file this time by carliv touch recovery
4)carliv touch recovery has aroma file manager too. But I was not able to open lock by this method as
Aroma File Manager, Click on menu option and go to settings*
Select Mount All Partitions*
Now, exit from Aroma File Manager and reflash it.*
Now, you will see each partition is mounted
5. Now, go to /data/system
Note : If you have sd-ext mod to increase internal storage, go to /sd-ext/system/
6. Now, If you have to remove pattern lock, long press and delete gesture.key
If you want to remove password, delete password.key
7. Exit the Aroma File Manager
8. Reboot*
9. Enjoy*
Didn't enjoyed this method somehow I don't know but it didn't worked for me as this folders didn't showed above said files.
5)now I flashed pattern password disable. Zip file using carliv recovery
And on booting phone screen asking for google id and password was gone link http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1900741&d=1366570627
This was my method to unlock pattern locked gionee m2 phone but this can help you out too

So I have a problem with my Nexus 5. Yesterday I tried all kinds of different Lollipop roms and at the end of the day I sticked to Cataclysm. I liked it and my phone was all set up but I noticed there were a lot of unnecessary folders on my internal storage and a nested 0 folder (0 inside /0). I didn't like that so I thought about making a nandroid backup, storing it on my computer (together with my music etc.), wiping everything and restoring it by using TWRP and then eventually putting my music back.
So after I stored a backup on my computer, I started my device into recovery mode and chose the option 'advanced wipe'. Usually I would do a lot of research for everything I do but in this case I was a bit lazy to do that, I tried digging into the search results of Google concerning wiping but I gave up after some unsatisfying results. So I checked every box in the list, including data and system and went through with the wiping. So because my storage was completely wiped I didn't have a 'WRTP/BACKUPS' folder anymore. I made a backup from the stuff I had (which was only a few mb's) so I would have that folder again (otherwise I wouldn't be possible to locate my nandroid backup). I wanted to transfer my nandroid from my computer to my phone by connecting it through USB but for some reason the Nexus 5 didn't show up on my PC when it was booted in recovery (this sometimes happens for some reason)
I managed to do it by using 'adb push Cataclysm folder' in cmd. I went into recovery and restored my backup. My phone booted and I thought everything was as it should be. The wallpaper was black but that was logical because my internal storage was wiped, including my custom wallpaper. But then I noticed something strange, my status bar disappeared, sames goes for my navigation bar. I really have no idea what happened because I've restored nandroid backups before and everything went fine.
So then I put a clean version of Cataclysm on my phone and for some reason it asks me to insert a SIM-card into my device while it has one. I skipped that step and then it asked for my home Wi-Fi and I chose mine, then it checked the connection way longer than it would normally do. After I was done with all the steps my homepage entered my screen and guess what, my status bar and also my navigation bar were absent. It was like my cell phone was in immersive mode all the time. Then I tried flashing the KitKat factory image by going into recovery with my phone and opening 'flash-all.bat' on my PC but then it said '< waiting for devices >' while I enabled USB debugging... I opened cmd and typed 'adb decives' and mine showed up, so it was connected (although it now says 'unauthorized' when my phone is normally booted).
Then I flashed clean Cataclysm again and it again said I had to insert my SIM-card and it then again checked the connection with the Wi-Fi for a couple of minutes. When I was done with the installation I tried replacing the wallpaper with one from Lollipop but it didn't work although there was a preview available. There was again no status bar and navigation bar. I then opened chrome and went to this website and now I'm typing this on my Nexus 5 which has a permanent immersive mode now.
So I don't have much in my internal storage anymore, only a TWRP folder with backups, nothing more, not even a 0 folder if I'm not wrong. There's something wrong with my mobile connection and definitely something going on with my navigation bar and status bar. I hope anyone could help me with this because this is really frustrating becausr I tried to fix it for the last couple of hours, unfortunately without any result...
EDIT: I forgot to mention that when I was trying to figure out how to send the nandroid without being able to access my internal storage via my computer, I booted in recovery, went to 'advanced' and then to 'adb sideload' and tried that because I saw it somewhere on the internet. I somehow believe this contributed to the problem I have.
EDIT2: Now, when I try to power off my phone by holding the power button, it reboots the device instead, what's going on... And as I said, I have a black screen as wallpaper for some reason and I can't change this, but if I open my weather widget, the widget window shows up with my chosen wallpaper on the background, what kind of sorcery is this?
EDIT3: I wanted to download a terminal emulator from Google Play to do this but I couldn't get to 100% so I thought there was something wrong with the app on my device. I googled the apk and I wanted to download it from Zippyshare and when I clicked on the button 'download now', the phone showed the message 'no SD card', so I guess that's the culprit of all of this?
TL;DR My phone is acting really weird (no status or navigation bar, phone reboots instead of asking whether I want to have it shut down when I hold the power button, the wallpaper being strange, SIM-card isn't being recognised) after I wiped data and system and actually everything...
Reboot to bootmanager , flash a factory image , wipe , start over . Something must have gotten corrupted in your nandroid backup.
Regarding ADB not working , you also need to authorize the pc you are working from . You will get a prompt on your phone when connecting . If you dont , go to developer setting , wipe ADB credentials , reconnect the phone.
Also , adb push works fine for single files but it sometimes borks when you are pushing big/many files.
Edit : I hope you didn't wipe EFS as well ( though AFAIK TWRP doesn't wipe it on a advanced wipe) . If you did it's time to return it to stock and send it to LG/Google

Thank you for reading my huge explanation. After hours of searching and trying a lot of things with my device I figured out how to fix it. Do you remember I said that when I tried to flash the factory image with 'flash-all.bat' that it responded with '< waiting for devices >' ? Well, after reinstalling the drivers countless times and trying to find the culprit I realised I was trying to flash it with TWRP being open, and not the bootloader... So after I was aware of that I finally managed to put stock Lollipop on my phone, then I wiped everything and flashed Cataclysm. It felt pretty satisfying to have a working phone again, it's a pity I had to start from scratch but on the other side, I now how a phone without any rubbish.
Regarding adb push, if I would like to ever push a rom or a big file onto my phone in case I would ever have a similar annoyance, what do you recommend me to do it with?
And what is EFS exactly and what happens if I would ever wipe that? Thank in advance!
Regarding ADB push / twrp MTP mode you jst need to remember not to try and upload the entire content of a sdcard backup or > 3-4 gigs. Big files rarely missbehave , but I screwed up my SD permissions when trying to restore my sdcard ( thousands of files and about 14 gb total).
EFS is a secure partition that stores your GSM/network id and profile - IMEI and so on. AFAIK it's pretty hard to erase but it is possible if you play around with format/repartition commands. Just follow the guides and instructions on this forum and it should be fine.
Corrupted or erased EFS = no network connectivity besides WiFi . And since tampering with it is illegal in some countries the only way to fix it is by RMA/warranty.
I'm glad you've fixed it - I'm not surprised it was a simple mistake , I've been there myself ( tried for an hour to flash a factory image unsuccessfully only to realize I had my phone plugged in a USB3 socket ) .
Don't forget to make a nandroid now that you are set up with your fav. ROM - it will come in handy sometime.

Try wiping your bum more thoroughly
Straigth to bussines:
Specs:
Device: Cat B'5- compac
Rom: CAT_B15_EMEA_DS.1.041.0 4.1.2 JB
Was rooted by: iRoot/Kingo root
Was working perfectly, untill...
"avoid due poor connection" - wifi stoped to connect
-config didnt work
-delet dhcp folder didnt work
- reset factory/ wipes didn't work
-backups (still working phone at 100% with wifi conected trough static IP
My sd card was swaped internal - external by me trough void.fstab and void.fstab.nand
"was working perfectly, during many root-unroot process most with kingo root"
Tryed to upade my firmaware trough device, system updates, catphones told me to download google OTA from catphones website support, instaled, found a few updates 86mb, couldn't uptade, tought it was kus phone was already rooted, crashed always during recovery menu due bad signature, even being the official patch... Anyway phone still working fulkly, sim, sds...
But since the reset factory to try solve the wifi poor conection problem, my phone seems to have losted his root, I still have esfile explorer on some of my backups including kingo root, cwm mod, and uninstaler, I even able to navigate trough the system files... The only thing I dont have is "permisions"
Why do I need permisions? Well I'm trying to root it again using any app or program, it was rooting B15-compal, now the kingo root reads my device as "android device" when with the original google ota and as HC phone with the catphones googleota, I root and others still recognize my device as B15, emai and everything else is working just fine, soi I presume that the root is unable to complete on any root client kus I swaped my sdcards, and now I lost my root permisions so I can't edit the vold.* files, and return my b15 to its originals sdcard, prety sure that this would fix the dam thing and enable me to root or unroot it again...
Root checker tells that my device is not properly rooted...
The super user from kingo root is still remaining even after backups but is does not grant me any permision or ask for it, also it doesnt have an uninstal option, esfile explorer is set to navigate root files and it oes, it only stops if i uncheck the options on seting and than cant check it anymore...
Downloaded a few adb fiels, tryed to perform comands as adb root even instaled the unsecure adb on phone, tryed also the method when in the factory menu, also on the recovery menu, also on the system itself, cant mount, and when tring to push the originals volds from my d:x/x/x/x to dev/system (/system) /system.etc (/system/etc/), some times it acept the correct command but tells me that Permision denied...
In other situations tells something like "cannot do or perform action on build" or something like that...
Put my hands on the original room of my b15 from xda (rooted), but my cat b15 doesnt give support to clockwork so I never made a custom recovery, even aknoledge that it is not necessary if I'm trying to flash a non-custm rom, witch is the case, althoug remember that my sdcards are completly swaped, 1,58gb sdcard internal is now external and 8gb external card is now internal, so the recovery acess always the sdcard 0 that now is my 8gb external card swaped, I got all the options, backups and restore working normal, but somehow seems that I'll not be able to flash any zip from inside my recovery menu, it says stating sdcard or something and already shows the picture of and android robot lied down with a red square over its open chest...
I hope that as long as I can restore it I'm fine, but I am not a programer but an advance user, so I need the root, tankfully my system was backuped when I riped off almost everything that was garbage and also moved to sdcard most of data, but still only 500-200mb of internal storage, I need to be able to restore vold by any mean, that must enable te root and the root will fix everything...
Any ideia would be apreciated, I would realy love to update my system to android 6, it has the hardware enought, but seems that this model was discontinued, so depending on someone creating a custom rom for it...
I was wondring if not trough CMD - ADB, could be possible flash fom SP_flash, but only flash the image related with the void files? I'm from Brazil and I don't wanna mess with my sim cards only to reflash the same version of the rom that I already have, not without the possibility of being running a custom recovery, couldnt and now without root option I cannot even run the CMW on android properly...
Tried intal oither suoper users from GP, put all of them ask for the same thing twm something or intal but all of them speak about "binary needs update", guess that why my phone is not rooting as it was, although, if I accept the option the apps entenr in a loading that never ends and eventualy ask to be close... Tought backups were for this purpose but the dam thing could not even fix my wifi little issue...
Counting on your xp guys...
