Is anyone gonna complain about your phone to get this one for and early upgrade
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I tried it and they said it is actually up to the manufacturer if they want to switch you to another phone, funny story though the guy was like you rate an upgrade anyway.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Good luck with that. Verizon can be pretty stiff. They usually wont consider swapping to a new phone unless you have like 3 problems or so with it and have to have at least 3 exchanges with a certain period of time.

Thats hit or miss, they might just call your bluff.
best bet for OP is to pay full price for phone.
Then sell the fascinate for a few hundred and maybe pay a little more then new contract price.
You have to do with a store mgr. or a district mgr. , not a csr.
Sent by my Droid Incredible
Yeah...going with TNS207's suggestion....
But the Tbolt at full price and sell your Fascinate.
I'm due an upgrade but with so many devices coming down the pike I have convinced myself to pay the full price to avoid signing the 2 year contract. I've already got my DInc and all its accessories sold for $300.
It's the best move for me.
Hey , I understand . I'm a sales rep and don't have much trouble talking managers into seeing my way.

I have two lines so I have an open upgrade but I am moving away from the fascinate the second this guy is on the street. I am currently working in a small town though, but I will be at verizon at 7am on the 24th to get one, hopefully being a small town and all they will have it in stock on launch day.
Besides the 4g and the camera....the fascinate has better hardware. Better CPU and GPU.
Nothing a Thunderolt can do that a fascinate cant?
Thats how android is built right now. Hardware specs mean nothing till apps can take advantage of it. Stick with your fascinate or get an iphone to see a true difference.
If not wait it out till some real good applications come out. Dont fall for the hype of the dual core processor either. Whats the point look at the games the iphone runs, amazing...nd its the same same cpu and a step below in gpu vs your fascinate. But those apps arent available for you fascinate so it makes it a moot point.

The Samsung Galaxy S are horrible. They are all laggy and slow. My bro and friend have them, one has vibrant and other has fascinate and both are slow as hell.
Wirefly did a youtube quadrant test on the TB and it scored a 1950.
Pretty darn fast.
Sent by my Droid Incredible
yeah, the bionic is only getting 2600 stock, but its locked so it will stay at that speed. We could see 3000+ with the TB after mods
Refer to my chart, the new TB has a better CPU and GPU
http://androidandme.com/2010/10/news/3dmarkmobile-gpu-showdown-adreno-205-vs-powervr-sgx540/
Galaxy s are laggy because of touchwiz!!!!
And the androidandme.com chart was accurate but the galaxy s was running 2.1 android!!! JIT doesnt play well with the hummingbird processor
Also for some reason android is built more with the snapdragon in mind!! Android cant take advantage of dualcore chips yeat either!!
The galaxy s line is laggy due to the filesystem it uses.
Fast or not, the TB will be a great phone just like the Evo and Inc before it, thats the bottom line for me, its not about milliseconds being faster or having crazy hardware that we cant harness. Out of the box the TB will be faster than a modified fascinate and HTC has better support for their phones meaning 2.3 and 2.4 updates, not to mentions the variety from xda.
And good HTC phones seem to have a lot more roms than the other brands.

Plus the phone is potentially already hacked as long as they don't change anything that would complicate the exploit(s) discovered..
Its too late in the game for HTC or VZW to change something, they came out with the exploit after the delay was issued, they would have to change 100,000 phones or more, it would take months.
Im so confused on which one to get. I mean the SGS2 is a vibrant with 4g pretty much? And i dont know if the nexus s has 4g capability? I can get the sgs4 for 139. and the nexus s off best buy for 99. Really want to based this on development. So any info i would appericate it
nexus is best your choice .
Can you give me a more detailed answer as in why? I mean i like the sgs4 cause i always liked the vibrant. But the nexus s does have development. The only thing that scares me is the Internal 16gb which will lead into corrupting if a bad flash is done!
I recently had to make the same decision and had friends with both I borrowed for a week.
The nexus s is amazingly fast. It boots and shuts down in a fraction of the time. It has flash for the camera. It has gps that actually works right out of the box. It has a cooler design and a much more solid feel. It has the nfc that you will probably never use. It has premium support and google ota updates of the newest stuffs. The usb port also has a much nicer feel.
Video playback is poor compared to the vibrant.
It lacks support for most 3d games.
There is no sd card slot
No gorilla glass
I have owned several vibrants and everything that is true for them is true for the sgs4g. The screen is amazing and is protected by gorilla glass. Video playback is second to none. Games play like a dream.
Gps is essentially unusable on most handsets.
The case is cheap feeling and looking.
No flash for camera
I decided video playback and game support was more important than flash and gps but I am upset those are the best choices. You might be wise to just wait for the price to drop on the x2.

Im coming from sprint. I had both evo and epic. The evo had great devs, while the epic has little to no support at all. CM7 and MIUI are still in alpha stages. I just dont want the sgs4 to be like the epic. I was looking at the lg gxs or whatever their having alot of issues on the first batch released(bleeding screen, phone wont connect to 3g) Mt4g(feels cheap though) sgs4 or nexus are the only ones i would consider getting.
If I could go back in time I would choose the mt4g rooted with cm7, sgs4g has its benefits like said earlier except I don't use it for movies or gaming I bounce between apps often and fast and the sgs4g would sometimes lag.
So I bought the g2x and while it is wicked fast and extremely strong with already great support for development, the phone has its issues and chooses when the issues will come up, I would just go scan the general thread for the g2x real quick

It seems to me, the SGS4G is slow to get developer support for ROMS and such. That is the only reason I regret owning one. However, after rooting and applying the FOTA fix, it is a cool phone.
From my understanding, phones like the Nexus will have tons of ROMS and customization because they are not tainted by integrations such as Samsung's Touch Wiz and are easier to work with.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk
Sgs4g I like the video playback but thats just my opinion. Gps is pretty good for me and it is true no dev support on the sgs4g I mean not as much as other phonea so of you are looking to play around with the phone like changing roms and kernels stuff like that I wouldnt recommend unless you dont mind waiting which is my case I dont mind waiting so I dont have any complaints. One last thing it does lag here and there but is not that bad. Really cant say much about nexus s I havent even play with it. G2x was mentioned it is a beast pgone but I went to the g2x forums and there were a los of complaints with the screen you ahould go check it out. Best thing to do is just go to the forums of each device and read about it, comments and complaints and it would help a lot.

I think the sgs4g is the best device I've owned but thats after doing some system tweaks like getting root, freezing some apps, alter minfree to strict settings for better ram handling when swapping applications, changing the disk scheduler to deadline, doing the fota files fix and getting a class 6 micro sd card. After all that this phone has never lag or failed period. But out the box...is fast. Once u have used it for about a week or two thats when you could start seing lag by either apps you have downloaded and new services running in the background not counting the unnecesary ones that were already running when you first get it...gps works flawlesly and so does everything else, but thats after you hack the phone the way you want it...
Up to you though...
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
The only reason the Nexus s is any faster is because it came stock with the ext4 file system. Our phones have the same file system as the Vibrant (rfs) It is not efficient, and that is where our lag is coming from.
We will start seeing some ROMS that will have ext4 built into them. When we do get this we will see quad scores around 1700-1800. To give you an idea our phones stock will score around 900. EXT4 ruffly doubles the speeds of the system. Now if you add ext4 with an overclocked kernel. The scores will be around if not higher than 2000.
This phone will be very fast and stable in not to long.
Thanks guys for the help. I went to go play with the following phones today:
g2x- Front looks really nice, and the display showed sharped for lcd. BUT my epic seems faster? and the back of the phone is FUGLY I mean the color, color........color lol! Reminds me of those cheap boost mobile off the wall colors. A case may solve that problem but i wouldnt pay 200 for it knowing how the back looked to me.
g2- Fast little thing, seen the potiental of it on xda, pretty much a better looking sprint htc evo shift 4G. BUT the demo hinge was BARELY on the phone. Soo going have to pass on that looks like a future problem.
mt4g- The best one of the group. Fast, comfortable in hand, light and Fast and xda support helps it there in my book. BUT its looks cheap. I mean how the color contrast clash on the phone. If i got one had to be either be the red one or white one.
sgs4- Some idiot STOLE THE DEMO! soooo i gotta go back tomorrow to look at it!!!
Nexus s- Actually locally a guy was selling one on CL. So i meet him to look at it. the screen is awesome of course cause of the superman screen lol! BUT the phone Looks cheaper than the mt4g!!!! I mean its all plastic and black gloss. Drop it and your gonna be hurting really bad. Also you have to deal with best buy and google since they sell it and tmobile just provides the service. I may sound anal but im a complex thinker and i always think ahead of myself.
Whole day of researching and im still confused and dont know which one to get lol!!!!

I'm a proud owner of a G2x... though some screens have bleeding issues.... mine doesn't... There are plenty of G2x's that are doing just fine, it's just easier to complain.... If you do have issues, you will have a 1 year warranty which means you will be able to switch it when new batches come out and by then issues should have been fixed... Whatever you do BUY THE PHONE IN STORE to test the device... Play with the settings and everything! If you are going to get a phone GET THE BEST there is to offer you and right now that would be the G2x...
SGS4G and Nexus S both have their flaws and are similar devices... The Nexus S isn't 4g capable (if that matters to you)... the SGS4G isn't anything to dazzle over and the Touch Wiz UI isn't my favorite... If you can wait a little longer it may be worth looking at the HTC Sensation...
No offense but i dont see why people rave so much about the sensation. Its a dual core evo 4g. Had two evo 4g when i was with sprint.......Nothing special. Sure it will probably have a bunch of dev support. But to me its not something wanting on for.
But after reading more reviews and seeing on the g2x side. Its not seeming so bad now. Also you have to consider that im coming to tmobile so late while the g2 mt4g and nexus s are kinda old i guess you can say. Even though the g2 and mt4g will get 2.3 but i think thats about it for them as OTA updates.
the Nexus S 4G...on TMO...would be......oh wait...why am I dreaming again
Get teh Samsung Galaxy S4G if you're planning to get a data plan and actually use it
SGS4
Very low internal space, 200MB as apposed to the Vibrants 16G. The phone benchmarks pretty low. But it does have the fastest antenna at 21mbs.
Nexus S
Wow it has a curved screen..... but no SD card support???? Why? Pretty cool but the download speeds will be lower because no 4g support.
If you're looking for the best I suggest the G2x or G2. I personaly use the G2 and it is amazing. But tmo just launched the G2x and it is to die for. Amazing 8MP camera, dual core processor, hdmi out for hdtv support. Get that if anything, the two phones you're deciding between have already been out dated by the G2x.
Sent from my Vision using XDA App
Wait til the Sensation or even better the SGS 2....but wait something will come out better right after...mytouch 4g slide anyone...??
It sounds like the price is a concern of the op.... I say go for the nexus s... the network speed increase with the sgs4g is not enough to overcome the lack of developer support. And its cheaper. Then again... the g2x is your best choice ATM... if you have the $$$.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
I had the SGS4G and exchanged it for the G2x and I have no regrets. This phone is amazingly fast and responsive and dev support is already awesome. Within 2 or 3 days the phone had clockworkmod working through ROM manager.
Pretty amazing. Plus Cyanogen, Team Whiskey and others already got the phone and are working on the ROM.
If you still have a choice I say go with the G2x. Dual core is future proof. Just came out, so this phone will probably be good for the next 2 years.
Hope that helps with your decision

If you are getting atrix plus $100 then there is your answer, but if you are throwing in $100 with your captivate then no its not worth it.

I hava an Atrix and a Captivate. I love both phones. He is right though, its not worth it. I would say that you should wait, hold off a few months and wait for the SGS II. AT&T has a variant coming sometime this year, and with the rollout of their LTE network starting this summer, you have to imagine that the SGS II would be a great canidate to be one of their 1st LTE enabled phones (that's personal opinion, not based on any verified info). Aside from that, the performance differences between the two phones is noticable, but not DRASTIC. Having actual, working GPS is nice, and some of the other features are cool, but honestly I would say wait.

well TBH, I don't really mind about the SoC other than the fact that its a dual and it would be significantly better than the single core that my captivate has.
and I don't live in the states, so I"m not really affected about LTE and such since we don't have LTE or anything where I live.
what I am worried about is the locked bootloader and such cause I can safetly run gingerbread on my captivate, but I won't be able to be on gingerbread once I'm on the atrix and my ROM choices and tweakign and such will be very limited until we can get the bootloader unlocked since motorola is such an ass to lock it.
I'm still debating this....with half of me saying "no" and half of me saying "yes"
does your atrix "feel faster or smoother" compared to the captivate?

Ahh, then yea all the AT&T stuff is kinda irrelevant, lol. The rom choices out there are minimal due to the bootloader encryption, obviously, but there is a HELL of a lot of working going on to fix that. Don't want to speak too soon but we may be close. Khoulk, tenfar, TBH, and a bunch of others are working on it. The Atrix is faster and smoother, yes, but we still don't even have an ETA for Gingerbread.

I would check online to see what the going rate for a used captivate is before offering it up + 100 for the Atrix. Compare that to the price for an off-contract atrix and you'll have your answer as to whether or not its a "fair" trade, value wise. Comparing the two phones to each other depends on how much you value aftermarket development. I'm a hardcore themer and that's why I kept my cappy. I haven't released anything for the Atrix yet, and I've had it almost since launch. I was able to get the Atrix through work at no cost, so it was win-win for me. Hardware wise, it is superior (except for the screen. Super Am. beats out the qhd 960x540 IMO). Development wise, there's no contest. Cappy is on Gingerbread. End of discussion. Its a trade-off either way. That's why I said wait for the SGS II to become available whereever you're at: dev friendly + hardware that is equal to or bettan than the atrix is almost every way. They're both great phones, IMO... but the SGS II is gonna be even better. And some phone that no one knows about that will be announced 2 months from now will be even better than the SGS II, lol.

I definitely wouldn't do it - the Captivate just has so much more to offer with a thriving developer community. The Atrix is supposedly on the verge of being rooted, but it will likely take awhile for things to really boom (and there's no telling when the root will even be successful). I have a few friends with the Atrix, and while it looks to be a decent phone, most complain about battery life and call quality.
I'm no fanboy - I'd jump ship from the Captivate tomorrow if the price was right and hardware/software looked to be legit, but right now the Captivate feels like one of the best possible phones a regular user and geek can have.

The devs have already rooted the phone I think. They are trying to unlock the bootloader.
Don't do it OP. After messing around on an Atrix for awhile, it is a good phone but feels a little finnicky.
A captivate on GB feels a lot smoother than a stock Froyo Atrix IMO.
My opinion you would be paying for a downgrade

I'm digging the front facing camera, the working GPS, and the resolution bump.
The atrix doesn't run as hot when playing games (my backplate used to burn me) or when running GPS and the battery last considerably longer.
What do you do on your phone? If you read more news and the like, the screen is great. If you watch more movies on your phone, then you might like the sammy screen better.
The fingerprint reader is nifty as well.
I am weary of samsung's gps on the infuse and the SGS II so I will steer clear..

In the end it's your decision. The only way you can really go wrong is if you went to the extremely locked down iphone. Enjoy your new atrix my friend.
don't do it! I have a captivate and I just bought an atrix for $300 and was planning on selling my captivate. But after using the atrix for a couple of days I decided to sell the atrix instead. It is just a bad user experience. Mainly because of the screen and the lack of response. Whenever I would use the slider to slide through contacts, it would lose track of my finger and call someone on accident. Also it is an eyesore to look at when you are scrolling.
So I got my Infuse for $150 on Amazon Wireless as an upgrade almost a month ago. It was my birthday and I wasn't sure the S2 would ever arrive, or how much it would cost. Well it's here already and seems to be $100-150 in some of the carrier deals (no word on AT&T yet, I'm guessing less than $200). So now I'm in the position that I am still eligible to return my Infuse...until tomorrow. Supposedly the AT&T S2 will be out in about a week on the 18th, right?
I really love the 4.5" screen on my Infuse. If the AT&T version of the S2 had a 4.5" screen there would be no question to switch. Also, some of the stats I've seen for the S2 have shown almost double the battery life, which, if true, would be worth it alone, without even beginning to consider the 10+ other ranging from minor to major improvements. It also seems to get much more love from the community, though the Infuse's position may change if it ever gets a GB/Touchwiz update.
So I guess I'm leaning towards returning it, but it's still a tough decision. I'd lose about $50 on accessories plus the activation fee and the hassle of dealing with both Amazon and AT&T. I also wouldn't get to look at that beautiful 4.5" SAMOLED+ screen anymore. But it would probably be easier to use with one hand on a 4.3" screen anyway. Any advice?
I dont know bout double battery life, over the infuse... might be by a slim margin. But again its all bout how u use your phone. personally I dont see right now how dual core phones are any better than single core. they all do the same task.. dual core might be what a second faster at that. lol who cares. now once we get something that uses those 2 cores I can see the benefit..
I have the atrix and its nice but between that and say my old droid incredible. they both do everything bout the same. So really at this point i say go for what ever you like atm. cause in the end thats all that really matters. if your happy with what you use.
That being said I have a infuse coming monday, cant wait.. but my atrix will be the daily driver for work. and the infuse for everything else.
S2 does not get double the battery life of the Infuse unless something is wrong with your Infuse. If anything, battery life is not quite as good. If you're running Froyo still, expect a nice boost if AT&T ever releases Gingerbread. Even the buggy Rogers Gingerbread base gets great battery life.
However, if you're still within your return window you should definitely go for the S2. It really is a lot better unless you absolutely have to have that extra .2 inches or the Wolfson audio chip.
Alright. Cool. Definitely gonna return it tomorrow. Thanks guys.

Wow.... A lot of that is wildly inaccurate...
Sent from my Samsung Infuse 4G - 1.6ghz
I'm def getting the S2 next week. During my 1 moth trial, I tested out Infuse, LG Thrill, Nexus S, and i missed the Infuse, The best Android phone i've been using after switching from Iphonez.

That entire page is inaccurate to a truly impressive degree. I especially like the part where the SGSII has higher music rating. And the bandwidth comparison makes it look like they ran SpeedTest once on each phone and just slapped that in.

Do you actually have info that the AT&T SGSII will be out that soon? Most estimates I've seen put it at the end of the month at the earliest. Or are you planning to get a Euro flavor?

Wtf? Did Att not already release Gingerbread for the Infuse yet?
I thought the Att twitter page said it was going to be released in Aug
reading specs is one thing and actual real world results are another , i think the infuse is just perfect, the s2 is faster no doubt, but u wont really need that processing power and when it comes to battery life the infuse is better, the infuse will last u a day n half easy on heavy usage, avg battery life for s2 users is not more than 8 hours. read up on forums and you will see. Hope you enjoy your new smaller more powerful device.
i wont even bring up heating issues

So, I think you're hinting at something, but I haven't had my coffee yet...
I was thinking the same thing too
That site doesn't even have good english.
"The Galaxy S II is quite light, but the Infuse 4G is heavier", but? doesn't it follow that the infuse is heavier if the SII is quite light?
Also "The Galaxy S II has fast actual download speeds, but the Infuse 4G is average"
That whole .56 mbps difference takes it from fast to average?
If you want to get the SII I'd understand, but for the love of god don't base it on that site.

That .8 ounces is a really big deal! For a smurf...
I wanted to return my Infuse for the SGSII, but I mistakenly thought I had gotten my Infuse one week later than I actually had, so I missed the chance to return it in 30 days unfortunately. I would have swapped in a heartbeat. The Infuse is a very nice phone, but it's old news now. The SGSII has a LOT more power. It all depends on the individual, but I would much rather have gotten the SGSII.
Confused

I think everyone pretty much agreed that the Galaxy II WOULDN'T be any more advantageous than the Infuse.
Definately going to return the Infuse?
I don't get the logical explanation from the link (http://geekaphone.com/compare/Samsun...use-4G#battery) above:
Smaller battery, more cores, and double battery life!!! Something sounds illogical here.
I'd hang onto the Infuse. The Infuse will be the better of the two phones...if you don't need NFC. The battery life will show to be better on the Infuse than the SGS2 because of the smaller battery and power-hungry CPU of the SGS2. The Infuse is only half a millimeter thicker than the SGS2 (9mm Infuse / 8.5mm SGS2).
Both phones have the same screen tech. The Infuse has a larger screen (4.5" Infuse / 4.3" SGS2) Both have the same camera quality. The SGS2 has a Yamaha audio chip. The Infuse probably has the same chip. Both phones appear to have the same styling.
I can testify the Infuse has glorious sound quality for music playing. It was so good I had withdrawal symptoms. The only thing right now the SGS2 bests the Infuse in real-world reality is the OS...FroYo vs. the SGS2's Gingerbread. But the Infuse is suppose to get a Gingerbread update...in..eh...somewhere around the year 2050....maybe...that soon.
I asked this in the comparison thread, but is there anywhere someone could actually use NFC?...

Japan and Oregon or west coast US.
I am getting a new Sprint phone tomorrow. I don't want the Galaxy S 2 because its too big and I don't want The Evo 3D because it's stupid.
What phone out of the Evo Design 4g, Motorola Photon or the Nexus S is the best.
I want to know in terms of speed, multitask switching quickness, and how easy it is to Root and how well it works once rooted.
Any input would be great!

Jw man hows the 3vo stupid? I had the original evo and it broke so i got a 3vo and its by far the best phone i've ever owned.
interesting.. i heard it was just a gimmick phone and a lot of bad reviews. Even the sprint rep said not to get it cuz wasn't worth 200 bux. You really like it though? Should I reconsider?
the 3D portion of the device is indeed mostly a gimick right now, however the phone itself is a powerhouse, and well worth the $200 price tag, imho. I've left the thing running for 200h straight without rebooting, or running any kind of app killer, and it chugs along without a hiccup through games, videos, browsing, etc. browsing speeds are on par with other Sprint phones I've owned. 4g is still a bit of a battery hog, as is the screen, but I can get a solid 6-8 hours between charges with 50-75% brightness and moderate 4g usage
Epic touch is the best sprint phone hands down..

Yeah man i really like it. Even though I barley ever use the 3D, the overall specs of the phone are amazing. And if you root it it'll be even better. You can easily set the phones cpu to 1.5 which was the original intention for it when it was made. Also the dev support on it is amazing.

Photon - absolutely love it!
