cool thx, maybe somebody will look at this and know whats going on, i tried enabling sideloading, changing values in market access from at&t's to tmobile us<fail> then to tmobile au<fail> then to a custom value i think 310120<fail>
i read in another post thet the "unleash the beast" fixes these missing apps. if anyone tries it please post.

I think what JH2 is is a test firmware leaked by Samsung or at&t but still isn't ready and has a quite a few issues yet still not completely fixing GPS so I say just use a different firmware for now. That's what I am going to do at least, JM5 here I come again.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Doesn't JM5 come with it's own set of different issues? So far none of the issues I've seen with JH2 seem show stopping (unless you really need that tethering). I haven't personally tested JM5, but people's first comment on JH2 was that it was about equivalent to the latest i9000 ROM, and it has an advatage of being a full Captvate ROM and not being locked out of future OTA updates for us. It's too early to give up on JH2.
I see fandango and att code scanner are visible on the market

Since all unleash the beast lists in relation to the Market is this:
Code:
Install Market Access App (V1.0.6) (Can uncensor your market)
Can you tell us what it does with Market Access to allow you to see these apps.
UNLEASH THE BEAST FIXES IT WHEN SET TO TMOBILE USA!!!
oddly enough, you can find the att code scanner too.

I changed it to T-Mobile USA, and Fandango is still not there. Not even in airplane mode over WiFi. Why does it work for you but not for me?

just checked Market Access app its not emulating any provider its set to ATT default 310410.
Also i am not having any issues with JH2 ROM everything flies and way faster and better than JF6 , GPS is still an issue but better than JF6.
I'm on my 6th or 7th reboot and still no luck. Has anyone rooted using one click root, then tried unleash the beast and can confirm they can find these apps in the market? Is it even possible to unleash the beast method, after one click root? Or would I have to one click unroot then unleash the beast?

I am running [STOCK ROM] I897UCJH2 (Captivate) with unleash v.2 and can see all the above except colberts under at&t or tmobile emulation.
Dont know if you need to reflash ROM to reroot using unleash. Did you get a ROM manager backup after you installed [STOCK ROM] I897UCJH2 (Captivate)?
Here is market access apk. i used on original ROM
Wow so AT&T is filtering political viewpoints. Wonder what Colbert would have to say about that.
Shutoff wifi and searched and Colbert Reports The world shows up on stock rom, so likely its a protected app and doesnt recognize this roms fingerprint.

I flashed JH2 on both of my phones. Ran UTB with both and only could see these on one of the phones. I still cant see Fandango one of them and I went back to stock firmware with the superoot access. I wasn't sure why and I still am not sure why.
Ok, I rooted the phone, now I want to get rid of all of the T-Mobile bloatware and cant figure out how to do this. Is there a guide anywhere that a kind soul could direct me to?
I also do not use T-Mobile. I use Simple Mobile. I would like to take out the Access Point for T-Mobile under mobile network settings. Does anyone know how to do this? Any assistance with either will be very much appreciated.
And if it matters, I did flash the ROM to the "leaked gingerbread". If I need to go back to factory can I do that?
Thanks! Mahgninnuc

Use titanium backup from the market, it lets u remove system apps. I think there's a thread of safe apps to remove.
Apn backup/restore app lets u delete apns I think.
Yes, stock nandroid restore will bring u back. Use your own or download it from dev subforum.

Didnt buy the premium version But got the WiFi calling off with another app. Root Uninstaller. WiFi calling was ALWAYS on and I couldn't turn it off. I suspect this was a major reason my battery was draining so fast.
Now to get rid of some of the other bloatware. Thanks again!
You can use any root file explorer to access the /system/app directory and just delete the appropriate apk files.
As always, have a stable nandroid backup handy on your sdcard. You never know when you'll need it.
Got APN off
I found Chee Wee's APN controller in the market and was able to remove the T-Mo APN fully from my phone. Now I don't have my APN switching from Simple Mobile to T-Mo whenever it wants.
Now to find an effective root program to get rid of the rest of the T-Mo junk.
Thanks for all of your assistance folks. I"ll get this mastered yet

So how many of you are actively participating in project cheesecake to hopefully acquire a leaked version of ICS before its official release date?
If you don't know what project cheesecake is and would like to participate in this important project then please click here to visit the official thread
I check but would like to know around how many people actually check as well.

i check it all the time
I try to check about once a day. I just go through the servers whenever I have down time (which seems to not come as often as I'd like). Admittedly, I usually don't make it through all the servers before I have to get back to doing something else.

I check at least twice a day as well. The only thing I would know to do with it is post in the appropriate places. Can't do anything else to help, might as well do this religiously to try and help any way I can.
I'm trying every 2-3 days, randomly targeting different servers.

Edit: I stand corrected. It was a mb865 Asia rom that got updated. The same principal applies though. An Asian rom won't show in a phone running a U.S. rom and vice versa.

I want to caution people that if you do pull an update from cheesecake DO NOT INSTALL IT! Contact Jim myself jrw28 etc. for instructions on how to pull it from your phone and get it to the relevant developers. If you install it you may fall victim to Motorola's new shenanigans.

From what I have been reading the "Leaks" are usually pulled from the QA or the Staging servers.
I am on east coast and I think they are on west coast so I usually start checking around noon (its hit or miss if the servers are up before that time)
I would love to get a wireshark log of what it is sending packet wise to the servers to see if we can fake it out with a post or get request but for some reason my hacker tools (facenif, droidsheep, anti) do not work on the atrix 2 (worked on the atrix 4g and bravo) so I have not looked to see if anything else networking wise will work on it..perhaps I will research if I can figure out why catlog is not working on the blaze rom
Ok so digging it looks like tcpdump binary is not in system/xbin all I see if tcpsvd. I tested shark and it has a error message when I try to capture packets so let me go look at a razr and see if these tools work on it and if it has the binary in xbin..This may be the whole problem why my toys are not working
bah toys all work on the razr and it doesn't have tcpdump so at a loss..guess I will try again once ics comes out and maybe things will work
IIRC the update process posts messages to logcat. You can see some of what gets sent to motorola there.
From what I remember the update process is a XMPP (jabber) client connecting to motorola's XMPP update server.
Well it seems cheesecake is not working on scv6. Even on the production server, it fails every time to check updates!!! any ideas?
More importantly I am creating an auto cheesecake app, but I need some help. I have phydo's original source and that is what I have been building off of. His app just starts an event, or what ever you want to call it that is built in to the phone (the cloud switcher thing that pops up. My question is what does that even change. it does not seem to change the same xml that is used for the manual method, but to automate things I really need to figure out what that does so I can do it myself.

I have mine all scripted... I will PM you what I have, then maybe we can come up with something more user friendly.... My script just replaces the XML with a new file with the next server in line to check, then runs the update check from the command line on the phone. not pretty, but it works in both cron and with tasker.
I would not write an app or apk for this, it could all be 100% behind the scenes to the user, and maybe an app that could change the frequency and/or turn the cron on or off.... just some thoughts, we can throw some more ideas around here too.

I thought about just doing a script but I went with an apk for a few reasons. first, many users here might have trouble figuring out how to use that right, and we want as many people as possible. I am also trying to get better with java, so this was a good simple starter project that is still useful to people.
I will try to include a way to set it to check at certain times.
I think we should set up a schedule as for who will check at what time so that we don't miss things. Maybe I should create an open google calendar and everyone can add the time they want to check to better our odds of getting an update. let me know what you all think
I mentioned in another thread, but this thread seems appropriate....
I haven't had any luck with any of the cheesecake servers for a couple weeks now--since the weekend of the searet ics leak. Before that I would get various servers all the time and plenty of "your device is up to date" messages.
I try several times a day at various times ( ~4am, ~11am, ~4pm PST ) and haven't gotten a server once since that weekend.
I've been wondering if Moto has changed something on their end...its quite an easy thing to change DNS entries ans/or server hostnames and/or IP addresses and/or usernames...
So I've been wondering...
Where does cheesecake get its servername info? How does it resolve the servernames? What user is it using?
FWIW, I'm on lithium v1.2 (and have been since back in April).

I tried on my EVO LTE also. One APK had a parse error, and the other would not load.
For now lets not post our results because we all are getting the results. One package is a parsing error and the other one does not load. Try to keep this thread clean so we don't have everyone posting the same results. Again i'm hoping some developers can shed some light on this and get this working somehow. Thanks in advance who ever does! =)
I talked with SPRINT and the APK will not work without to correct SOC code attached to the account. They also said that the accounts will not allow the SOC to be attached, unless it is one of the junk phones that legitimately supports the feature. At this time the only other phones in the pipeline for release are LG's.
