Cheesecake not working on SCV6 + questions about Auto cheesecake I am making - Motorola Atrix 2

Well it seems cheesecake is not working on scv6. Even on the production server, it fails every time to check updates!!! any ideas?
More importantly I am creating an auto cheesecake app, but I need some help. I have phydo's original source and that is what I have been building off of. His app just starts an event, or what ever you want to call it that is built in to the phone (the cloud switcher thing that pops up. My question is what does that even change. it does not seem to change the same xml that is used for the manual method, but to automate things I really need to figure out what that does so I can do it myself.
Thanks,
-lkrasner

I have mine all scripted... I will PM you what I have, then maybe we can come up with something more user friendly.... My script just replaces the XML with a new file with the next server in line to check, then runs the update check from the command line on the phone. not pretty, but it works in both cron and with tasker.
I would not write an app or apk for this, it could all be 100% behind the scenes to the user, and maybe an app that could change the frequency and/or turn the cron on or off.... just some thoughts, we can throw some more ideas around here too.

I thought about just doing a script but I went with an apk for a few reasons. first, many users here might have trouble figuring out how to use that right, and we want as many people as possible. I am also trying to get better with java, so this was a good simple starter project that is still useful to people.
I will try to include a way to set it to check at certain times.
I think we should set up a schedule as for who will check at what time so that we don't miss things. Maybe I should create an open google calendar and everyone can add the time they want to check to better our odds of getting an update. let me know what you all think

I mentioned in another thread, but this thread seems appropriate....
I haven't had any luck with any of the cheesecake servers for a couple weeks now--since the weekend of the searet ics leak. Before that I would get various servers all the time and plenty of "your device is up to date" messages.
I try several times a day at various times ( ~4am, ~11am, ~4pm PST ) and haven't gotten a server once since that weekend.
I've been wondering if Moto has changed something on their end...its quite an easy thing to change DNS entries ans/or server hostnames and/or IP addresses and/or usernames...
So I've been wondering...
Where does cheesecake get its servername info? How does it resolve the servernames? What user is it using?
FWIW, I'm on lithium v1.2 (and have been since back in April).

I've been checking Cheesecake servers just fine for the past couple of days, though I am on stock. I still believe that being on a stock build is crucial.

Been seeing this more and the only explanation that I can come up with is that the ROM is de-odexed? Im running Romulus, which is odexed. I have no problems.
Although I doubt it.

However I would love to be a part of the "cheesecake calendar" if I can!

This is just asking for trouble. You are overwriting and deleting system files that are in use.

Well Krylon I've done it several times and it works. If you actually had this phone you could try it yourself. While I can't write a custom recovery, I do have some experience with android and don't mind using unorthodox methods if it benefits my phone as much as it did.
BTW, what's with all the negative nay-saying?

its not naysaying, but the first person people hit up is krylon when they brick their phones, and he's just trying to limit that until they come up with a SURE FIRE way to do it. Dont take it as an insult
I wouldn't have posted it unless I thoroughly tested it on my own phone. My only thing is don't come in criticizing people who are trying if you've been gone for 2 weeks while everyone else has been trying to figure this out. It may not be the way Krylon would do it, but it works. And if for some reason it doesn't for you, by all means, flash back to stock. The risk is worth the reward.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
perhaps if you would read my tweets, you would see why I was gone for 2 weeks.
As far as being negative, I'm not. I'm saying this isn't a good idea due to the fact you are deleting proprietary system files/drivers that are currently in use, which results in a hardware failure. This poses a risk of burning/frying the hardware or causing the drivers you are copying back over to become corrupt.
Here is an easier/safer way to do this.
Download MagicISO, Download my Tar (which I think you already have), and download the deodexed rom.
Extract the tar
Open MagicISO
within magic, open factoryfs.rfs (you will need to change the drop down to look for all files)
This opens /system
delete app and framework dir's
open the deodexed /system
copy over app and framework dir's into magic
close, retar everything you extracted from the original

here's the tar command you will want to use.
Download and install cygwin if you dont have linux installed.
move the files to cygwin/home/(profilename)/

change filename to what you want the tar to be called.
OK I had the parameters wrong in cygwin when I retried it. I'll try these next.

Also Krylon,
I heard some rumors that TW may already have some ROM's ready for this phone once we get a working CWM. Is this true? and is so could you maybe give a hint to what we might be seeing from TW?
thanks for the hard work and sorry to hear about the job.

BackTrack 5 on Mesmerize

(This is a re-post from Android Hacking and General section; I developed this on a Mesmerize so I can promise it will work just fine on 2.1 and 2.2.1 stock kernels)
Requires a rooted device!
BackTrack 5 installation guides are making their way around this forum. I've tried to synthesize it all, but I've also added my own touches to help with usability and features, along with a workaround for the "ioctl LOOP_SET_FD failed" error message some people have been getting.
In theory this build is nearly universal, so if you have an Android device it should work. I've put it all in one zip file that you can download directly from my website, no hassles or wait timers.
If you are interested have a look, feel free to re-post. Credit goes to the BackTrack team and xda member anantshri (he's got skills, give him props guys), who built the base image file.

BackTrack is an operating system based on Ubuntu Linux that is used for security testing (aka hacking) and digital forensics. I'm a master's degree student in computer security, so I love this OS... it can do awesome things. Turn on your Wi-Fi and you can do advanced network scans and tests right from your phone, no laptop required. For me this is hella-useful.
But besides just being an OS for hacking ****, it's also fully Ubuntu-based, so you can run it like a desktop, including running Firefox and other Linux applications.

I doubt this is possible to do via a phone, but can you crack wifi networks using this?
Wait, so let me get this straight.... this is an ubuntu based os that will run on the mesmerize???
If so, HOW? Dual boot? Or complete rom replacement?

Assuming the Wi-Fi chipset supports it (and it probably does) then yes, you could, but it will take a lot longer than, say, if you had a laptop, since Wi-Fi cracking always involves cryptographic computations.

It still runs pretty nicely, especially considering you are running it on a phone And for what it's worth, having to use VNC as the GUI is often a plus; it's nice to be able to switch back and forth quickly.

Just like an app. Specifically it uses the concept of a "chroot" to run it from inside of Android's Linux kernel. You can even switch back and forth between the two instantly.

Correct, under normal circumstances. I'm going to cover my ass here and remind you that you'll be running this stuff as root, so if you start deleting files willy nilly you can still blow away your Android system requiring a re-flashing.
But as long as you aren't an idiot you'll be just fine, lol.

So how many of you are actively participating in project cheesecake to hopefully acquire a leaked version of ICS before its official release date?

i check it all the time
I try to check about once a day. I just go through the servers whenever I have down time (which seems to not come as often as I'd like). Admittedly, I usually don't make it through all the servers before I have to get back to doing something else.

From what I have been reading the "Leaks" are usually pulled from the QA or the Staging servers.
I am on east coast and I think they are on west coast so I usually start checking around noon (its hit or miss if the servers are up before that time)
I would love to get a wireshark log of what it is sending packet wise to the servers to see if we can fake it out with a post or get request but for some reason my hacker tools (facenif, droidsheep, anti) do not work on the atrix 2 (worked on the atrix 4g and bravo) so I have not looked to see if anything else networking wise will work on it..perhaps I will research if I can figure out why catlog is not working on the blaze rom
Ok so digging it looks like tcpdump binary is not in system/xbin all I see if tcpsvd. I tested shark and it has a error message when I try to capture packets so let me go look at a razr and see if these tools work on it and if it has the binary in xbin..This may be the whole problem why my toys are not working
bah toys all work on the razr and it doesn't have tcpdump so at a loss..guess I will try again once ics comes out and maybe things will work
IIRC the update process posts messages to logcat. You can see some of what gets sent to motorola there.
From what I remember the update process is a XMPP (jabber) client connecting to motorola's XMPP update server.

[Q] ICS Issues not in sticky (that i saw)

I have been a big fan of xda for a really long time. I have never needed to actually obtain a username because almost everything can be found with the search function. Problem is I have ran into a couple things that I can't resolve myself with playing around reflashing/factory resets.
Just as a Pre Req - I am using a Samsung i727 on AT&T updated to the leak the day it came out - Have since ran two different Roms
-NexusMod-ICS-Beta-3
- ICSMOD5
I experienced the following problems with the leak and both Roms. I'm just wondering if I'm missing a fix for any of this, or if it is simply something that the wonderful DEV's here have not gotten to. Obviously there are other issues, but in reading threads these are the ones that I have not heard anyone address. I have heard them mentioned, but never addressed.
1. I have a Sony Bluetooth Audio Head Unit in my car. Every ROM I ever flashed for GB I was able to get the A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) to work and send the artist/album/song title to my unit. This no longer works and seems to have some serious dropping issues from time to time. As well as a very slow next or back function (all of which was not there with GB).
2. I CANNOT fix permissions. I always try first in CWM (which I have updated and paid for the new touch version) and every time I try click on fix permissions it says done instantly as well as when I clear Dalvik it shows as E: is not found or accessible. I have re-flashed, went back to ICS leak with Odin, used the DarkSide Wipe, went back to gingerbread, flashed to ICS leak, flashed to NexusMod. Still cannot fix permissions. In ROM manager it will just hang up and never finish. I read all the time about people *fixing permissions* in ICS. I have never been able to.
Any insight that any of you could give me on any of these issues would be greatly appreciated. I understand that this is my first post and TBH I'm kinda sad that I actually have to post. For so long you had everything already addressed, and may very well have already addressed this. But my eyes are exhausted, and I feel as though I have checked all my resources.
In short thank you for all that you guys do, and look forward to maybe one day being able to help you.
It seems that the newer versions of CWM are somewhat iffy on some devices (like mine.) I would try a few different versions. I've personally only had luck with the custom version from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1472954
Following the exact same steps and only changing the versions of CWM I got permissions fixed. Hopefully you'll be in the same boat
I have no idea on the Bluetooth issue, most of what I've seen with ICS/Bluetooth has been positive. You might try using a bluetooth.apk from another ICS build with similar hardware (I have no idea what Bluetooth chip we're running.) I think the version from GB probably isn't compatible, but knowing myself I'd probably try it just to make sure.
Also install busybox from the market and run it it might help
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk
Thank you for the quick comments. I am not familiar with BusyBox, but I will make myself familiar and post back with my findings
I will also try that version of CWM touch and report back with my finding's on that.
When you refer to bluetooth.apk How would this be installed? Just from zip in CWM or like a regular downloaded app not via the market? What would be your best suggestions other than the .apk from GB that I will of course try first. The i989 one from there ICS leak? The i777? Just trying to get ideas on what I should be searching for at this point.
Again thank you
Honestly, I don't know what version of the apk you'd want to use, because it's going to depend on the bluetooth chip manufacturer. I'd say something else by samsung shuold be a good place to start
To install, you'd just back up the bluetooth.apk in /system/app using a root file explorer, and drop in the replacement, then reboot

GB Bluetooth has multiple .apk files
-BluetoothAvrcp.apk
-BluetoothOpp.apk
-BluetoothPbap.apk
-BluetoothTestMode.apk
-BrcmBluetoothServices.apk
Tried moving the stock ICS Bluetooth.apk out and replacing it with all of these. Needless to say it FC's on all them repetitively.
Then tried another Bluetooth.apk that I found here:
had to remove this because apparently I'm not aloud to put a link in here
This made the Phonebook portion start working for me, but it still is not sending the tags to the unit. I had an idea to maybe try the old music player and see if that made a difference, because it never worked with googlemusicplayer or Pandora only worked with the stock music player in GB. I am back from lunch now though so unfortunately it will have to wait for my next break to see if it makes a difference.
I do hope to be able to help and be an active member. Though most of the things I know now I only learned from reading what XDA has posted. I will say that trying to post with these almost impossible Image Verification things is rather annoying.
All your issues with the site go bye bye after so many posts

Fixed it. Will post tomorrow with more information. Want to give proper credit where credit is due. Too hard to do on the phone half asleep.
Thank you both again.

Alright, so... First off I want to say thank you to burgeswe for the idea of trying other Bluetooth apks.
Second off I want to say thank you to MysticKing32 and his Rom Mystic'sPrideICS (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1560763) for the bluetooth apk's that I copied from them and installed into M0D1441's NexusMod-ICS-Beta-3 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574675). This made all tagging work. No issues with Bluetooth dropping on my 35 min drive home and works just fine with DSPManager running.
There are four files from MysticKing32's rom that I copied. These files are:
-Bluetooth.apk
-Bluetoothavrcp.apk
-BluetoothTest.apk
-BluetoothMap.apk
I did not try with the Bluetooth.apk from the stock build so that one may not need replaced/copied. I removed the Bluetooth.apk from system>apps and put these four apks in its place.
Hope this helps someone.. Now does anyone have a fix for ATT Visual Voicemail. After I finally fix that issue I will be dailying NexusMod but some of these things were very important to me..
Thank you again
What's your VM doing? I had to wipe its data a few times to get mine working (with the whole recall and add PIN)

It just keeps spinning on please wait when I put in the passkey. I'll try wiping.. Did you use Titanium to do this?
Thanks
Yea on Titanium. I also noticed that it seems to work better if you interact with the menus when you call to set it up

This is what I always get even after wiping multiple times and calling and going through a bunch of saved messages that made me laugh hysterically and saving them again.. Lol good times, I would recommend other people doing this as well seeing as there was a lot of VM I had forgotten about.
Hmmm, I'm not sure what's happening. Can you remove the app entirely, then clear dalvik cache, reinstall?

This worked for me.. Thank you again.. Officially my daily driver now.. All the things I fixed thanks to xda and its members.
-Visual Voicemail Now Working (uninstalled/cleared dalvik/re-downloaded from store)
-Bluetooth sends tags now (If you look up in the thread I put instructions)
-Can now fix permissions (BusyBox install)
-Shut Down/Restart working (multiple flashes of NexusMod/odin stock ucalc)
-MMS delete fixed (multiple flashes of NexusMod/odin stock ucalc)
Only thing that is kinda iffy from time to time is the POS Radio from UCALC4, but that is something I'm assuming has no full write up for/I would not be able to resolve the issue.

Do you know maybe what BluetoothMap.apk is used for?
It also has another name MAPServiceSamsung; com.samsung.map, and it keeps FCing on a lot of phones!

An important note to everyone here

As you probably know, we just got our first full ICS leak, even though it was for the me865. I am not going to comment on how useful it would be for the rest of us other than it will not flash correctly so don't try. All the devs here are pulling it apart to see what can be used.
It is extremely important that everyone is checking cheesecake as much as possible!!!!!
our biggest hope is that we can pull a leak from the US servers with ICS and/or an unlocked bootloader. See the stickied bootloader unlock thread for more info. I am working on an app/ other way to automate the process even more so that it can be checked more often as the updates will only stay available for a short period of time.
Been checking like crazy for the past few hours.
Seems as though most of the "QA" servers are down, as of right now. Or is it me?
Also, I did get a "Your device is up to date." message off of master-qa500.blurdev.com
Maybe that's something to keep our eye on possibly?
EDIT: seems like most of the servers are down. Still checking though.
Yeah if you get the "setup wifi" message the server is down. If you get your device is up to date the server is up but nothing is on it.

Good to know. Thank you kind sir.
EDIT: Noob question about cheesecake, will it screw up my ability to get normal OTA updates? Since obviously it changes the server my phone looks on for updates?

If you switch back to the "Production"..."master-blur.svcmot.com" server, that should be back to the regular server that it would otherwise normally check. Someone correct me if I'm wrong...
Also, Jim mentioned a way to use something like Tasker to help automate this as well. If farshad525hou makes an automated app, that would be awesome. In the meantime, does anyone know how to get Tasker to do that? Perhaps I'll send Jim a PM to see if he could put a little description of how it's done. That way people (myself included) will have less of an excuse to be checking the servers .

I also would like to ask for some tip how to get that tasker do it's magic on cheesecake ?
I pm'd Jim last night and he said he'll work on a quick "how-to" for the Tasker automated Cheesecake (is there anything this guy can't do?!). He hopes to make a thread sometime today.

I've been checking cheesecake about every two hours since I got to work this morning. Haven't found anything yet but I have noticed more servers being active since this morning.
