I'm in USA with my G tablet/Vegan. Wife is in Australia with laptop.
We're using Yahoo Messenger.
I can see and hear her perfectly. She can see me, but has a lot of trouble hearing (sometimes fading, sometimes static, etc). We have tried approximately 10 times over 2 days. Always the same result.
Is it likely:
1. the microphone in the G tab? (EDIT....I just tested my microphone with sound recorder and it works well.)
2. the internet connection speed at one end? (I would think this would affect us both?)
3. the messenger app doesn't work properly for G tab?
4. anything else it could be?
I would really appreciate hearing from anyone using Messenger. Have you had this problem? Have you solved it? Have you found a better video chat app? (fring and skype haven't worked for me)
b u m p .
Just downloaded this, haven't treid it yet. Anxious to hear the results. I will try it tonight and see if it works...

Anyone got this to work on your g tablet? I'm getting pops and static on TNT lite.
Anyone got any videochat to work?
AAAHHHH
I am getting the popping and crackling feedback too......Are the speakers broken?
half the time my speakers don't even work, If I boot and they do they stop working as soon as my screen sleeps if not crackle and pop
Also playing with the volume when the sound isn't working will almost certainly force my Gtab to reboot......any ideas?
I have not tried video chat so no clue if it works
yea I'm getting the pop/crack on the test call as well, mp3's play fine, I'm running CM b4.
+1 for the pop/crackle. I was able to get Yahoo working though, at least it appeared to work. My buddy didn't answer the call, but I was able to see myself.
EDIT: I'm still stock, but rooted. Haven't tried any roms yet. Just got mine last night. (Love it by the way.)
Anyone know anything about Skype and getting it to work? I got it installed, but don't see an option for video calling.

As of right now, Yahoo Messenger appears to be the only one that works.

Yup. I used Yahoo Messenger as well and it worked. Only problem is that the video quality is horrible. I switched to my iphone and it was better on both ends. Hopefully we'll get some good video chat app soon!!!
Hey I have searched the forum and so far I have yet to find a solution to my problem. I have the Droid RAZR Maxx HD running on Jellybean. I am not sure if the problem was present before I upgraded to Jellybean.
I don't use video chat very often, but sometimes it comes in handy. Especially handy when you're troubleshooting something remotely. Ok I have tried Tango, Skype, Fring, ooVoo, Google Talk video, and Facebook video. Each one of them seem to do something different. Tango will dial the other person up and start my camera, but it will never let us connect. When I attempt to hang up a Tango call all it does is turn the green light off under the video camera icon, and the video camera stays on. I have to press the home button and force close the app. Skype will just force close if I attempt a video call as will Google+. The ooVoo app allows the video to work fine on both ends but we have zero audio and I've been unsuccessful finding anything in settings to change that. The Fring app let's the other person see me (they were on a Samsung Galaxy Note II), and we can hear each other. I can only see my own camera on my screen, though. So far ooVoo and Fring seem to be the closest to being working apps for me, but they still are not functional enough to be of any use. I contacted Verizon about this on the phone twice and visited the store once. The guy on the phone this morning said that it was likely something with the jellybean upgrade. The guy at the store last night said his works fine with the same kind of phone, but I'm not sure about that personally because I never saw him get it to work. The only phone he tried to initiate a video call with was mine. I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me figure out how to get around this. By the way, I also tried clearing the cache and the data for Tango and uninstalling, installed an older version of Tango from Google, but that only force closed. Please let me know if you need more information to help solve this issue, and thanks in advance.
Anyone ? ? ?

Hey guys I just got my new Moto G 2nd Gen. I haven't rooted the phone and Im facing some issue.
When I use skype or normal outgoing or incoming call , Im not able able to hear the voice from other end but the other end person can hear the voice clearly. When I reboot my deivce it have no problem and works fine. again after sometime say 4-5hrs later again I do face the same issue. Anyone please guide me through if they have the solution
Possible a Skype problem still I will recommend to Be sure weather it is problem of the device or Skype, try using other messaging apps because I use hangout on my moto g and i never faced any issue, try handfree while on Skype, also try a small experiment by downloading previous version of Skype and clean install it. hopefully it will resolve this issue........
its TOOOOOOOOOOOOO Bad that otherside cant hear my on FACEBOOK MESSENGER, and my phone works pretty good on normal phone calll skype call. and LONG PRESS TO SEND VOICE MESSAGE on facebook messenger. anyone had the same problem??
anyone who could help me koz. i stay abroad and need to be in contact with my family al the time. PLEASE HELP
everyone'S MESSENGER CALLS WORKING FINE??
It's weird that "press to send voice message" works and not the voice during a call, but maybe the first one is not directly related to your app. Did you check that Messenger has the permission to use your microphone ?
In Settings > Apps > Messenger > Permissions > "Microphone" should be activated.
yes

YEAH i tried the permissions. if not permission for MIC why would it send sound clips. still the same problem. anyone else had this problem?
I currently have the same problem on my Samsung Note 4 (n910f). Everything works perfect, except video calls on facebook messenger. Sending voice clips over messenger works. I tried to mess with the permissions, updated messenger app, updated phone firmware, tried everything. On every other apps the microphone work flawless. I event send facebook a report, but haven t heard anything.
how to make permission allow there is not any open close mark
Know this is an old thread but I found it through a Google search with same problem.
I found the problem for my self.
It's not only microphone permission it needs, I needs phone permissions too. Why I can't tell. Poor development maybe.
Iphones too
I have the same issue with messenger BUT it was working great on my android devices, but I had to switch to iOS... and guess what... I used an SE then a 6s and later a 7 (bootloop so back to 6s. I don’t want to spend a fortune on new ones) every single one had the same issue with the mic. I’ve tried to install the messenger first after a clean factory reset... and I had the same problem. My wife is using her iPhone with no issues at all. I am still using android as a secondary but my main phone must be an iPhone (flickin company)...
I got the same problem on my Galaxy note 10 plus with messenger microphone.
But ONLY when i make a video call. When i recieve a video call it's working fine!! I call back and they can't listen me.
All other similar apps like DUO, Viber, What's Up, Skype are working fine.
Phone app working fine too. All apps and the device are working fine.
I reset the device and it solved but after some days it's back again!!
It makes me crazy!

Hello!
I have a major issue during videocalls using google duo, skype where if there are any background noise around me, i can't hear the person i am talking to. The audio cuts off. It has to be silent around me in order for me to hear the person i am talking to. Is there any fix to this problem? I have already reset the phone but the problem is still there.
mic (over) sensitivity? perhaps some will stop by and know the file and file entry to edit.
any of this type setting elsewhere (Settings, the app itself, and sound modification yo have installed, eg Viper, etc... that you can check/get to?
I have no sound modification installed. I checked the settings but there seems to be no part adressing this issue. The same problem happens when i use different apps like skype, google duo and signal. Could it be a hardware problem? The microphone works fine when i record a video or recording audio.
Maybe.
Rooted? If so, and you've done a full, clean install, and sure that the install is working ok, maybe try another custom ROM.
Normal calls work, as I get you it's (just) video calls? Another possibility, I'd consider looking up mic sensitivity and ways to decrease it. On the OnePlus One I am aware there was a configuration file folks could mess with to try and resolve that phone's mics over sampling. That was a common issue for many.
Have you tried turning the volume down and see if that has any effect?
Wish I could offer more ideas, I have used video calls maybe 3 times in 8 years.
The phone is not rooted. This problem occurs only when i use internet based videocalls (skype, google duo). The volyme is not usually high when i call. Thank you for your time, hopefully i will find a solution soon.
Frustrating. Good luck.
