Pop-up notifications. - HTC Inspire 4G

I have looked and looked.
Is there anything that makes all notifications pop-up? I know its what people hate about the iPhone, but I like it for some apps. If there is anything out there just point me in the right direction.
Thanks!

You could use sms popup for text messages. It's similar to how messages show up on the iPhone.

The problem with that is it only deals with text messages. And I use Google voice. I want it for all notifications. But I guess there isn't anything at the moment.

You can use BugMe for custom alarms.
Tasker likely can create popups for notifications, but I have not done this.

E-mail and text notifications...

Is there a way to make the display light up when a text or email come through? The little blinking light and almost inaudible tone are killing me...

For text I am using the free app Handcent SMS. It has options for a quick reply window to pop up, even when the phone is locked. If you're familiar with Bitesms for the iPhone its similar to that. Don't know of anything for emails, but have never really looked.

Question about messaging

Does anyone have any insight as to why the stock messaging app would have me download just a regular text message? Doesn't happen every time but enough to get on your nerves.

Never had that happen unless it was a mms (picture)

One thing that did come to mind is it seems to happen when someone sends me a text from an iPhone. Could it be that the Android knows it's superior and rejects the text from the inferior iPhone?

mine does that but when its a txt over 160 char long
then it will promp me to DL and comes out like a regular txt
other txts less then 160 char are fine tho
I've never had that happen but if its a problem you can try go SMS, chomp, or handcent.

Check with them if they are using iMessage or something like that. I remember hearing about a texting app on iPhones that uses data and allows iPhone users to text for free.

Text message solutions

Hey guys, one of the things I was looking most forward to with the JB update was to have quick reply to text message capability in the notifications. I'm stock not rooted, obviously I was wrong to think we were getting this functionality. My question is this.. Is there an app that will allow me to quick reply to text messages from the notification pull down? Without rooting? This is a small feature I know, but it is something that would very useful to me. Appreciate any feedback.

I don't think there is one to allow you to reply from the notification pull down, but Go sms has a quick reply notification feature.

By sub I mean an option inside a main option in settings... I know if you go to the message app like your going to send a text and hit the menu it will also bring up message settings too... It has been a long time since I've been on sense but I'm sure I saw that option somewhere.. Sorry for being so vague...

No worries.
Yeah looks like the only setting is to show message on lock screen, but nothing to actually turn screen on when it arrives. I really only want this because I always have my phone on silent. When playing Xbox with headphones I miss everything but I guess that's a good thing lol.
Anyways thanks for the help

I don't ever remember hearing about that option built into a rom--
But, as Google is your proverbial friend--maybe this--it is for text messages, maybe something else available for more notifications--

I use this app, simple and does exactly what it says it does. Turns on your screen when you get a text, nothing more nothing less.
I bought the pro version, there is also a free version that does the same thing.
There used to be an stock option in sense, I'm not sure what version they took it out in.

You can also do it with Tasker (and a lot more).

App similar to guard mode in MIUI?

Does anyone know of any app that performs a similar function to MIUI's Guard mode?
What it basically does is, hide your SMS, Call Log, and Gallery photos until you input the pass-code. It does not delete everything, it just hides it until guard mode is disabled. I would like it for those situations, were I'm at work, or visiting my parents, ect... and I don't want someone to accidentally stumble upon something incriminating in my phone while using it.
EDIT: It doesn't not hide the apps, it hides the things in the apps. So for example: I could still send sms without seeing every other sms I have on my phone.
I know this isn't exactly what you're looking for but it's the closest I could find. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.domobile.applock

Yeah I've used it, it's a bit to laggy for me my tastes. Also, it doesn't support LTE. But it is a pretty sick ROM.
