Does anyone know of a way to download and open a locked pdf? My ebooks for school are locked pdf and was hoping to be able to read them on my g tablet. Please help! Thank you in advance for your time!
Jennifer
Hey Jennifer, theres a couple of ways I'm aware off that you can go about doing this. One is that you can try switching reading programs. Sometime when I try and read pdf files on our tab with quick office they show up as locked, but if you use pdf viewer from adobe off market they'll show up fine. Another method is you can use a kind of ocr program to read and repackage the pdf file. I personally use abbyy.
Good Luck

Because the search won't give me any results for "pdf", too small of a search term I guess, I'm asking now.
I had an older version(?) of Adobe Reader on my Ipaq2490 before I flashed it to WM6. Back then I would open a pdf and it would 'reflow' the file. It would rearrange the text in the file, so that it would display properly for reading, instead of having to zoom and pan around pages.
I have flashed to WM6 and needed to install Adobe reader, I install this new Adobe 2 LE. Now I'm stuck zooming and paning around pages in documents that did not have this problem in the past. I also don't see any setting options as were in that older version, mainly the 'reflow' option!
Am I missing something? And if not, what is the best App for viewing pdf on WM6? And does that App do 'reflow'?
TIA
I use PocketXpdf... give it a try...
may be somebody knows an app. to add easily e-books in sence reader. ideas welcome
Out of curiosity, what formats does this reader support? Not that it matters too much, I really can't see it being a patch on Allreader+ which is the best mobile ebook reader I have used bar perhaps Stanza.

ePub, the HTC reader supports the ePub format (don't know if it supports other formats as well). As of now only Freda supports this format. In addition, the HTC eReader support DRM protected ePub books (I have to test this out yet, but the device can be activated using the adobe server)
ebup and plain text both work, haven't tried anything else yet. Just have to access them via file manager, so I asecond the original question.

I second that also, but I think we just have to wait till someone is going to write a program for this. At this moment, there's a little work-around described here. This works very well, but is a bit cumbersome.
BTW, there is some interfacing possible with Adobe Digital Editions. When there is a active sync connection, one can activate the HD2 with this PC program and there is a possibility to copy books to the HD2. However the books copied to the device don't show up in the ereader tab.
On the 2.05 test rom there was a directory "Program Files/HTC Reader" in which there was a subdirectory "manifest". This name is also used by Adobe Digital Edition for its library.
(Not that this is of any use right now, but maybe someone can figure out how the HTC reader interfaces with Adobe Dig. Ed or for that matter, any other pc reader/manager)
btw http://www.epubbooks.com/books has many many free epub books.

it wont do this automagically. There's a database which holds all the books, unfortunately there's no tool available on WM to add new books.
I'll publish one soon.
EDIT: wont publish mine, as one has already been published.
ebook indexer
Try with this

So it doesn't read PDFs? Might have been worth using if it did so I'll stick to Allreader, any EPUB books I have can be easily converted to HTML.
calibre does a great job of converting to Epub
OT: Is there a way how make eReader read different character page correctly? I cannot read all Czech characters correctly, only some of them.

Hi hope this is in the right bit but i need some help have just got a Desire S first android phone and its great but im having problems with word.docs that are attached to my email when i try to open them it is saying that the content is not supported and there is no application to open it and I have a few apps that should open it I have noticed if i go ahead and download it it is coming up as a .bin file can anyone help at all ? thanks
There is no native way for Android to display Word documents, but there are numerous (and free) apps in the Market that will. For instance ThinkFree Office Mobile is an excellent choice, but there are others.
Thanks but I have tried along with several others and they will open doc and docx files but not wps which i need to open.
Have you tried Google Docs?
I haven't how do I do that on my phone.
Thanks
Assuming you have a Google account you could simply save any document attachments to your phone, navigate to Google Docs from your phones browser, upload the document and if GD supports that format you will be able to read/edit the document right there. When finished save a copy back to your phone if you need to.
It may not be as good as having a native app for this on your phone but they can be expensive.
Hi all
I searched for a solution but can't find anything decent.
The problem is that on my pc everything is ok but when i transfer the documents and presentations to my transformer and open them with Polaris they get corrupted and i can't open them back on my pc.
For the .doc there is a workaround with Google docs but this isn't working for me with .ppt. It keeps saying it can't upload them.
Hope you all can help me...

What version of Office are you using on your PC? I've found that in order to not run into problems with Polaris, I have to save all my documents as older 97-2003 versions. Polaris opens the new versions for Office 2007/2010, but when I try to save them is when it will either give me an error / corrupt the file / save it automatically as the older version on my tablet (I generally open and save all mine via DropBox, so when it saves to the tablet it's kind of annoying).
I use office 2010,but save my files as older versions 97-2003 because of compatibility isues with my friends when working together.
It's been an issue for a while now, unfortunately. Here is a previous thread on it. They probably have an error in the xml formatting in their save routine.
Yes I know this is where i got the .doc workaround but it does not work with .ppt.
Polaris has screwed me over so many times...
I know this isn't exactly the answer that you are looking for, but try out kingsoft office.. I'm pretty sure its free now and imho its far superior.

ebook formats is *.dnl bro, could you please give the solution of my problem?
After a bit of digging around. He's right.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_e-book_formats search the page for dnl.
Dunno what would read them tho.
Maybe http://ebook.online-convert.com/convert-to-epub could help you before using Aldiko or Moon reader etc.
You're not right. You're not even wrong!
.exe ebook files? don't pirate stuff. if you intend or doing so, do it smarter!
I'm trying to help you here. When you download a movie that is in exe form (in otherwords not what it is supposed to be), chances are it is malicious.
Assuming once you get the basics about ebook and reading, I would recommend Aldiko Book Reader. Its by far the best I've use so far.
