My wife bought a HD7 and was wondering how to delete an outlook email account she set up and did not want in the end. I've tried looking online and through videos on how-to's....and can't not find how to delete the account so she can set up another one....
Anyone have an answer? Please
settings > system [pivot, should already be on this] > emails & accounts... press + hold on the account you want to delete and it should have a delete option.
Note: if it is the windows live account which was bound to the phone upon phone set up, you cannot delete it and the only way to change to a different windows live account for the phone is to hard reset through settings > system > about > reset your phone. As a result, this will wipe your phone though, so only do this if absolutely required, and ensure you have used zune to sync your pictures/videos/music.

I borrowed my friends SIM to activate my MYTOUCH phone. During activation, it said this GMAIL account is now linked to this phone. problem is it is HIS gmail account, not mines.
Is there a way to change the email to my gmail address?
Or is the only way to RESET the phone?

I'm on an eclair rom right now but there should be an option in your settings called "sync" or something like that where you can add a gmail account and once you add one you can delete the other. Why did you need to borrow someone's SIM to activate the phone? Wouldn't that activate it on that service instead of your own? What are you gonna do when there's no wireless for you to use?

Yes, depend on rom installed. Try this , is you use a rom basef on Eclaire, or something similar in other cases.
Settings-Privacy settings-Factory data reset. Atention that erase all your data stored un phone (contacts etc)
Well, that's weird. Why did you put in your friend's email address? Should've been able to put in your email address even with his SIM.
I found the solution:
going into settings -> applications -> manage apps -> gmail, gmail storage & google apps and clear cache and data. then reboot the phone and see if it prompts you to enter a gmail account.
Once i deleted DATA, i was able to create new gmail account!
The Hero has a Gmail and mail option. What is the difference? How can I change the Gmail address that I initially put in when I bought the phone? I have 3 gmail addresses and I want to change the Gmail address I put in when I bought it to a different one.

The Gmail app will Push your email, while the Mail app has to be set up as POP3 and will only poll on a set time period.
As for Changing the email address associated with the phone, you need to do a Factory reset, which will leave everything on your SD card intact, but will remove the Market and Gmail settings (including calendar, contacts and email) along with all of your installed apps.
Settings > Security > Factory Data Reset > Reset Phone
How do I perform a factory reset, and will it unroot my phone? Also, once you buy an app from the market and you do a factory restore, do you have to buy the apps again?

On the recovery screen do a data wipe, you wont loose root. Paid market apps are associated to your card I think, so those should still show up as paid for when you open the market again.

This is NOT just an LG problem as I read others have the same issue with different brands of phones.
I noticed that when I add a new contact if I do not drop down the tiny part at the top and pick Phone/SIM/Google it will default to phone. That means it does NOT sync with Google. I also can NOT go back and change the contact on the phone to be SIM or Google. Part of the purpose of having this phone is for it's ability to sync with Google.
Is there a setting to set it to default save your contact with Google and NOT phone?
*This is important because if you load up new contacts they will NOT sync with Google, so if you lose your phone then you lose your data. Part of what makes Android cool is your data is sync to your Google account so you are always up to date even if your phone is lost or broken.
I do NOT have this option to set.
I found this BUT that option is NOT there for 2.2 LG Official---see bold item
right now i have Google contacts syncing to my phone. weird thing is, when i log into gmail and look under contacts, there isnt any listed. where does google get list from? I thought logging into gmail and clicking contacts would show me a list of names, but it doesnt. I dont get it.
First:
You need to make sure you enter a new contact by saving to Google.
Contacts that are on your "phone" will not transfer to Google automatically.
You can change your default save location by:
Open contacts
Press menu touch key (key on left side of your phone)
Press MORE
Press SETTINGS
Change: Save new Contacts from: Always Ask to GOOGLE
In Google it saves your contacts under the "My Contacts" tag.
Let me know if you need any other help with this.
p.s.:
If you want your contacts on Google and your phone, the easiest way is to enter them through gmail then let sync push them to your phone. Your phone (should) join the duplicates since they will have the same names and telephone #.

Just rooted with bean V5. Went to check my email and nothing is being received. I send a test from my email to my yahoo account and it shows up on my laptop. refresh phone....nothing. Reboot phone and still nothing. all my settings appear to be correct. I went to accounts and sync to delete account and re-attempt to add email account. It wont even let me delete yahoo account and says I must do factory wipe in order to delete this account. Its not my gmail account I'm trying to delete so why is this an issue!? I cant figure this out and it is pissing me off!!
Please give some direction if you can.
Apologies if this the the wrong place for this. I had to reflash my phone after messing up the install with Xposed and set everything back up.
I use Google Inbox for my main email and Gmail for work and secondary account. Previously, I could set individual sync options within the account. Meaning, I could go into my main gmail account, and click an option to not sync Gmail and leave the option to sync Inbox.
Now, when I select my main account there are no options to enable/disable syncing.
I'm going to Settings > Cloud and accounts > Accounts > [my email address] > Sync account
Prior to having to reflash CRE4, the option to set the sync options individually were there.
I don't have the toggles like my wife has.
Found it. In case anyone else has this happen, go to the Gmail app, select the hamburger icon at top left, click Settings, select the account, then Settings and un-chech Sync Gmail.
Then the toggles appear as they should in Accounts after clicking Sync Account.
Absolutely stupid that this was required.
