NoDo + Unlocking? - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Hi all!
Just wondering before i try and flash my Mozart...
Has anyone on here with the NoDo rom been able to unlock and sideload?? .....

Out of curiosity, couldn't some phones like the lg optimus 7 with direct access to the registry through mfg manually change the registry to label the device as a developer model? Because the way I see it, registry access = full system override. And I don't think the software update can/will remove the lg engineer app.
Thoughts on this?

I wouldn't be so sure, giving him credit as a proved by a+b=c we could install for o2 uk the european nodo rom without goldcard, our fellow member petbede is actually working on a way to sideload apps in a way you would make think your phone it's installling it from marketplace. did you actually see one of his app's or some screen shots from a wifi tether /unlocking app ?
for me that is that you can't unlock it and that there isn't any wifi tethering on wp7 .
ofcourse if we had some prove then that would be real cool .

The guy who was claiming that he could sideload apps on the nodo rom got a letter just minutes before he was going to release it. LOL

Anyways, if you bumped this thread for the nodo unlock, it can be done by using the prevent lock xap and then updating to nodo.. Actually YES - I know this from personal experience. I did not change my phone over and unlock it untill AFTER I got NoDo. I use the LG Quantum and it has MFG. Below is what you need to unlock, at least with the quantum.
You can unlock the phone by using the MFG registry editor.
Open the MFG app and use the password to open it. If you don't know it's (appmfg#*#)
Go to Engineer Menu -> Other Settings -> Edit Registry
Set your ROOT PATH to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE"
Set your input path to "\Comm\Security\LVMod"
Set your input key to "DeveloperUnlockState" and set to DWORD
Hit Query. Output result should return a "0" or a random long number. If it does continue.
Set your input data box to "1" and hit SET. Output result should be 1
How To Keep Your Phone Unlocked
You can keep your phone unlocked and prevent Zune from re-locking it.
Open the MFG app and use the password to open it. If you don't know it's (appmfg#*#)

Also worth noting, on any phone: if you unlock and do the registry hack to prevent relocking before updating to NoDo, the unlocked state will persist across the update as long as you don't hard-reset. It will, however, not be possible to re-unlock if you do hard-reset the phone after updating at this point, unless you have the aforementioned LG. I'm sure someone will come up with another method that works for NoDo eventually, but it hasn't been done yet.

Yup. I just updated my phone today. I had registry tweaks done to prevent relocking while it was on 7004. After update, phone is still unlocked
Will the method that jlott069 posted work with my LG optimus 7?

I have HTC 7 Trophy with latest update :7.0.7392 (I guess it is NoDo). Can I use the method proposed by jlott069 on it to unlock it or is it for LG? And Can I do it now or do I rollback the update?

the method was originally posted by airwa1kin7 here. This works on all LG WP7 phones, no other devices. On LG phones this works even after you updated to NoDo and your phone happens to be locked. Follow the instructions and you will unlock your phone and keep it unlocked before and after NoDo.

[Q] Windows Phone Unlock Chevron Unique Problem
I have been able to unlock my phone before, but now no matter what I do, I just can't seem to get past the ChevronWP7.exe error of not being able to communicate with the phone after I click unlock.
I think I know why. I had been trying to get my device (Samsung Focus) to be able to be seen as a USB storage device (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=915664) . I had messed with the registry keys until I got the desired effect.
Well a couple of days later my phone's screen would turn off as soon as a call was started and would be inaccessible until the call ended, and also the camera wouldn't start under lock. These problems were unrelated, and frustrated me enough to hard reset my phone. I had jailboken it once before, so I figured, how hard could it be to do it again.
I've followed all of the steps TO THE LETTER (from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=938106, and also here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857127), to no avail.

I've checked any and all possible reasons for not being able to unlock, from using TCPView to kill https processes, to editing the hosts file from having the loopback to windows developer server. I have no other ideas other that this registry is messed up. If anyone (so long as they havent messed with the USB storage thing) could just export that whole registry folder:

Solution It did end up being my registry settings. Went to another computer, installed the Developer Tools, ran ChevronWP7, and voila. Still dont know my problem though, and with the new NoDo update I know I'll have to reset again eventually, so if anyone can shed any light that would be great.
I'd say, uninstall the samsung drivers, remove what's left of these registry keys, install the drivers again and connect your device to recreate the registry keys.
I've already uninstalled the Samsung drivers, and I'll try deleting those registry keys. I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling both the Windows Phone Deeloper Tools, didn't do very much. Can access just fine through Zune, but any xap deployer (including Microsoft's) and the ChevronWP7 can't.
I deleted the registry key (or rather what I could, some of them were system protected and wouldn't budge when I edited permissions), then uninstalled zune and reinstalled it. I plugged my phone in and everything synced just fine. Tried Chevron, it started and detected my phone was jailbroken. I was also able to deploy xaps. Thanks for the suggestion, saved me from a lot of frustration.

I have the same problem as above; Unlocked my Focus, it got re-locked somehow and now I can't re-unlock it, after trying everything. Should I do what OP ended up doing? If so, how do I do that?
I've had a somewhat related issue where something in my PC's registry or user profile was screwing Zune up. I'd get a generic "Please disconnect, restart your phone, and pray" response that never worked. The fix? Recreate my user profile in Windows which has a net effect of giving you all new HKEY_CURRENT_USER stuff. This may be necessary for others in the future, specifically when one computer works differently than another.

I've checked any and all possible reasons for not being able to unlock, from using TCPView to kill https processes, to editing the hosts file from having the loopback to windows developer server. I have no other ideas other that this registry is messed up. If anyone (so long as they havent messed with the USB storage thing) could just export that whole registry folder:

I had the EXACT same problem with my Focus after unlocking it. I also had been playing with the Diagnosis app, so i figured it was that. I've never touched the registry of my phone...

That's correct, but it seems (personnaly) that on Optimus 7, it always return back to the old value, so you can install more than 10, but always go back to registry to modify before another installation. Can you confirm?
What value did you set it to...The problem is on an Optimus 7, you cannot enter Hex values. You MUST turn them into decimal values before entering them into the phone. So, in the follow key, through the MFG app registry editor on the Optimus 7, enter it as follows: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\DeviceReg\ Install] "MaxUnsignedApp"=dword:2147483647 The number is the decimal value for the actually needed key 7FFFFFFF. This has solved my problem, and make sure you have set the proper values to prevent relocking when syncing with Zune.
From time to time, the value get back to the original state, like the chevron relock issue. Just reset the value before installing a new app. BTW, you don't have to set so high value... 1000 is enough even in decimal

since your phone is on Nodo upgrade use the windowbreak project and you will be good to go it is all done for you then.
@TheBeO: It's OK to use the "prevent relock" hack even with official dev unlock. I strongly recommend you do so, as otherwise you'll have to manually re-interop-unlock (set the MaxUnsignedApp value) all the time. It's easy enough to undo the prevent-relock thing, just restore the string values (the original values are on the forum somewhere, though of course you can just write them down before clearing them yourself).

Dont know if these are any help,but they will remove Optus voicemail and other garbage : HOW TO TURN OFF ALL OF OPTUS'S GARBAGE 1) Dial ##002# -> Turn off diversions. It works, but only partially. 2) Dial ##21# -> Turn off call redirect. Don't ask me what the difference to the above was. Now, this is supposed to turn off ALL redirects (below), but Optus STILL didn't want to give up it's useless services! I had to disable them seperately. So you will need to: 3) Dial ##67# -> Disable Busy redirect. People will NOT GET CHARGED if you're on the phone, and simply get a 'number busy' error. 4) Dial ##61# -> The phone will RING OUT and the caller will NOT GET CHARGED for useless voicemail, which whilst still apparently 'disabled' from above.. Isn't! 5) Dial ##62# -> The caller will simply get a 'phone not available' message, when Out of Coverage area or switched off. No charge-incurring voicemail. Now, time to turn off useless services like Missed Call Services, which are redundant anyway. 6) SMS 'OFF' (without the ') to 159 -> Disable 'Missed Call Service'. You may get an error, but just keep spamming this number over days/weeks and it will eventually work. 7) SMS 'OFF' to 147 -> Disabled 'Call Recall'
Wow, so much info. Thank-you for taking the time to post all that. I bought the phone from Telechoice for $679, sold my iPhone 4 to get it lol. I am trying to remove all the icons an menus on the phone that relate to Optus Zoo, there is so a lot. Also there is an Optus screen at startup. My call services are all working fine with Vofafone sim eg; Voicenail and diversions.

SuperOneClick should be done in less than 20 seconds, if it's stuck then you probably need to load the proper drivers. Download the LG Mobile Tool from here: http://www.lg.com/uk/support/mc-support/mobile-phone-support.jsp Run it, set your country and language in the options menu and then press the Install USB Driver button on the right. Doubleclick on LGP920 and it should download and install the proper drivers. If for some reason the LGP920 doesn't show up in the list you can select another country where it's available (The Netherlands for example). Then follow ik911's instructions again and you're rooted. I recommend getting the Busybox installer from the market and run it once you're rooted to get all the proper tools a rooted phone needs.
Adam ,be careful when you root this phone,several people on this board have bricked their phones after rooting it, unless the branding is severely annoying you then dont do it,its not worth the risk.I dont want to be the one who says "i told you so ".

I thought you could only brick it if you rewrite the bootloader, but that you can mess up the rom and recovery partitions as much as you like, as restore of the default LG rom/recovery partitions would be possible with the bootloader and software on PC... Is this wrong? if so, how does it work? or is this an special case of extra brickability with the Optimus 3D that i should be aware of, and not install common root apps like CWM recovery or ROM managers? (I ask because I'm getting one in the morning, and will no doubt root it immediately,.. then after that ill gain root access to to OS..) Thanks

I bought my phone outright not on contract so i figure it should be unlocked but seems it isn't.. If i was to call Telus in Canada here would they give me the unlock code for free or would they charge me??? Edit: Well it actually worked and i just used "This Video" on instructions to do it.. It just left a few things out or at least made it harder to see on the video 1. In order to edit the Credits from 1 to 11, you need to enable a setting. Hit F11 in fiddler or click on "Rules" then "Automatic Breakpoints" and enable "Before Requests" otherwise when you run the samsung app it'll just tell you it doesn't have enough credits. 2. Another thing to remember when doing this is now whenever the "Client" Line pops up in Fiddler your going to need to manually tell the program to progress using these little Yellow and Green buttons.. if you don't the Samsung Unlock app won't do anything and it will seem like it froze.. It hasn't its just waiting for you to tell Fiddler to move to the next step.. 3. And one more is to make sure before bothering to unlock to make sure your SIM doesn't have a password on it.. I noticed it causing the network unlock to reset whenever i rebooted.
ffcloud2000 i suggest to remove [Q] and question marks from title cos this works. i did it today on my SG3 i5800 and i can confirm. it took a while till i got it right and then i saw some instructions below video posted by some guy: FIGURED IT OUT!!!!! The only problem I had is with changing credits from 1 to 11. This is done as follows: 1. enter user name and password and click [Connect] 2. Switch to Fiddler and select the line having word "client" at the end 3. Click Yellow button to see the text (NOTE: most people miss clicking the yellow button first, which will open the text for editing) 4. Go to credits and type "11" 5. Click the Green button 6. repeat the steps whenever having line "client" to clarify: after you hit [connect] you go to fiddler and find line that has word "client" in it. mark that line and hit YELLOW button on the right side. then you change that credit to 11 and then you hit GREEN button. you ll notice that SRS holds when you hit yellow button and continues after green. also when you change those credits from 1 to 11 you ll notice that on SRS it is also changed to 11. wait a bit and you ll get codes. i tried those 2 links above and those methods didn't work for me. couldn't find code.

The first I take about 1,5h or 2h to understand what I have to do, the second phone take about only 2 minutes It is really easy, but you need to know what have to do before. PD: So to unlock insert another SIM with a different company (SIM without PIN code!), when ask for a code insert de NCK code that you read with the software.

I have Galaxy 3 i5800. Tried following steps in the video from the first post. I get "Invalid procedure call or argument" error in the end, in the SRS program. I even cannot get enough times(as shown in the video) of that Client2010 line in Fiddler. That guy in video gets that line like 2 times more than me, but in my case it just stops showing, after I've clicked "Run to Completion" on the last client2010 line. Try running the Programs with Administrator.. I ran into errors also but i'm on Windows 8 so it might have been my issue
I did run everything as administrator. I have read on SRS website that for SRS to work you have to run it on 32 bit computer. I just installed 32 bit windows and didn't work, everything is the same.

I just had mine plugged into my computer like normal like i do to charge it.. You have to remember to change some settings on your phone though and change them back after you finish Code: 1. Hi In trying to solve the no data connection issue for use internationally outside Korea, I happened across a secret menu. It needs an admin password to unlock and I reversed engineered the pass. I don't think it's of any use to unlock data for international use but it might be of some use to those in Korea. This will work on stock bootloader locked phones btw. It gives access to 3 databases Global, Secure, and System. I think these can be adjusted with the app setedit anyway so no real value there, but there are other settings in the menu and I'm not clear on what they are for so maybe you would like to experiment with these settings, figure out what they do, and hopefully they are of some use. *#*#762646423646#*#* Click on 'admin' and select date 10th March 2017. In the change DB section, select Global, Secure, or System on the left, enter a property in the middle and enter a property value (numeric only, in the far right). To see a current value setting, or to see if the property exists at all, enter a property value e.g. preferred_network_mode, select 'get' and if it exists it will show the current value. To change the value to something else, enter new value on the far right, and select 'put'. Be careful with putting new values! *#*#6367238378#*#* This one will bring you directly to a settings menu that is a sub setting of the one above.
