Craig CMP738A Panel Defect - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

This is my second one not purchased in the same store. I see the same issue that I had with the prior. Funny a different state and different CVS upscale drug store and it still has the same issue. I bet all of them this way and most buyers are unaware of this issue with the panel. Either Anti-Glare film wasn't applied correctly or the the panel is not assembled correctly. No QCI, if there were this wouldn't have pass inspection and be rejected.
Down below you can see what's going on. If you do firmware update or factory reset i you can see how bad it is.
Craig

I've posted the above at many forums so far this reply was the best answer.
I have noticed that text cutoff on the left edge of mine, too (landscape with "Craig" logo on top). Looks either like a classic video adjustment issue (hsync on LCD possible?), or imprecise placement of the LCD panel within the bezel, which I suspect is more likely considering the price point. Simple fix: rotate 180 degrees for apps where it matters like a terminal session
But then the placement of the top layer on the screen (protector? anti-glare? digitizer?) might be more noticeable as there is a gap of about that same 1mm or so on that side. Hmm... maybe that is also imprecise screen placement issue - everything shifted that way? Oh well, for <$100 we may have to overlook the "edge cases"

I rotate the phone 180 degrees to let you see another side
How do you judge it? I think mine isn't that bad.

you need to put on something that is black background to see it. i can see it across the top and bottom , i can also see it very similair on my tv if i look at it the same way looking up into it. its there adn you can see it but its not that noticable unless your looking for it on mine. the pics the other poster showed were definaltey worse than mine. This does not make me regret the purchase at all.
i cant really see it at all when its the standard white bar across the top on froyo.
How about this one? Get "draw!" from market.
I have to put a dot at the center in order to take picture.
Added a pic of MT4 under similar situation (using draw!), but since the screen is less sensitive, I have to draw a small circle instead of the dot.

[Q] Dropped Xoom - now screen random displays like this

I recently dropped my Xoom (in a case onto a carpeted floor). It semeed to survive but now the display shows distorted colors like the sample attached. I thought it might be a loose connection but I can be working away and the screen will revert to normal and stay that way for days.
And I can suspend it while it's okay, come back to it and the display is corrupt again.
Can anybody work out what could be going on? I would prefer not to have to replace the screen but I don't really know if that is the issue if it reverts back to normal all the time.
Thanks

Silly me. The screen shots look distorted to me also because I was posting on the device!
Yeah looks like a loose connector to me. You may be able to fix it if it was a soldering joint. I guess the repair can do the same thing.
I dropped my tablet recently and the screen got screwed like yours, but mine is worse. I don't know too much about hardware, but I think that it's the crystal that broke, so it may be hard to fix :/. Anyway, if you get it back working I hope you to share some info with me, as well I will do if I get working .

backlight edge bleed?

I bought Z3 LTE from Sony Store last week but I returned it because it had edge light bleed problem on the left side and I returned it. I ordered a second unit few days ago and I received it and seems it has the same thin light edge bleed as pictured below.

Note this is only visible at an extreme angle and is not visible straight on or looking at the phone at a small angle. Also it's only visible on non-black colored background
Is that normal for and LCD screen? should I return it, or don't worry about it?
Thanks!
your chances of finding a perfect panel is basically "zero." if there arent any dead pixels and the backlight bleeding doest affect your viewing experiences then just stick with it. the chances of you getting a more defected one is higher.
you should also go into dial pad and test it with the service menu by inputting
*#*#service#*#*
I believe that is normal.

I ran a complete diagnostics when I received the phone. Luckily everything passed and got zero sight of dead pixels, stuck pixels or clouding! Its not the first time I have seen this, I had similar problem with my xperia S, Z and Z1. So its seems like its a normal thing
I'll take your advice and stick with it. :good:

How much screen bleeding is normal?

Hello,
I bought the RN6P recently and noticed there were some reports about a backlight bleeding issue like on the Poco F1 on the internet. But I also saw other people mention, that a certain amount of bleeding is normal, since the screen is being lit from the side.
So I took a picture and I want you opinions on this. The 'bleeding' appears on the chin (maybe 1 - 2 mm; you can see it fading away towards the corners of the screen) and on the top (not really visible on the picture) of the phone, is this a normal ammount or should I try to return it?

well usually there are some bleed mostly around notch as you must have read it, but I am not sure if this yellow ting on the down side is real or just present on this photo - however if it is seen in real this yellow-ish like, it is quite not normal, as it is not close to the screen end, but is rather centered .. I would try to return/replace the piece at the reseller, if possible.

That yellowish stuff are just the apps on the screen. I was reffering to the chin, where it's the most obvious. It's not as bad as with the Poco F1, but it still catches my eye time to time.

S10e display manufacturing error?

Hi guys
I am really having some trouble loving my S10e. The phone would be great - if it wasn't for the screen. The glass is simply glued on the front and thus sticks out by 0.75mm. The corners are not rounded but quite sharp. When I put the phone to my ear, the sharp end scratches my ear and it feels uncomfortable. On top of that, with the glass being exposed like that, it obviously lead to it cracking within the first 3 weeks (see

).
Is this the same for all S10e? I have searched the Internet for any reviews or complaints mentioning this issue, to no avail. I simply can't believe that this is normal (I have never seen a phone with the glass glued on like that).
Cheers,
Will
This sounds like a faulty handset to me. You'll need to see if you can get it replaced under warranty.
Unfortunately as with all Android phones, this will mean sending your current handset off somewhere and waiting up to 2 weeks to have it inspected, repaired or replaced. You'll need to make sure you have a spare handset lying around. This is one of the things I hate about Androids compared to iPhones. Maybe try putting on a case to see if it helps?
If you had an iPhone, you'll have been able to book an appointment and have your iPhone replaced the same day.
Hey Wutang, thanks a lot for your reply! And all along I thought the glass being glued on like that was (a little silly but) normal for the S10e. I have contacted Samsung again, so I guess we will see.
