Recommended Armband (for Sports) For Galaxy i9000 ? - Galaxy S I9000 Accessories

Anyone know any good sports armband to hold my galaxy while i'm jogging ?
I've looked at google/ebay and found only universal cheap stuff that doesn't look all that great.
I simply want something to hold the galaxy (which I play music from and use apps for sports), protect it from damage and sweat and allow me to use its functions.

IPhone ones will work

Really ?! Any iphone armband ? Headphone's hole in the same place for iphone 4 and Galaxy ?
In that case i'll go for pro armbands, marware and such i guess...
Will be glad to hear input from people who tried it.

Search for the existing thread on this topic in this forum, there are several good suggestions there (I posted one that is specifically made for the SGS and very good).

I've looked through the forums. If I remember right, you recommended the iGatdgitz one. I've been going through the net for hours looking for this and the Vangoddy one but found it nowhere in stock.
I am still wondering whether every iphone4 armband will fit. Usually quality companies create stuff for them and if that's true then it's probably the best solution.

Iphone4 armbands won't fit, the dimensions are slightly off. Iphone 3GS ones on the other hand will, I use a generic iphone 3GS armband and it works like a charm.

i ve got one for iphone. sgs is slightly longer, but in practice i am really satisfied...
google for "SportWrap Armband"
br

There you go:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Sports-Gym-Jogg..._MobilePhonesCasesPouches&hash=item20b7ce1905
If the iPhone 3G armbands fit there are probably some very good ones out there as others have suggested, certainly would be worth looking into also.

I will order this one:
h**p://w*w.amazon.co.uk/Navitech-Neoprene-Resistant-Jogging-Reflection/dp/B00486SH3Y/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1300140440&sr=8-3
It's simple, and I think it will fits perfect!

http://www.igadgitz.com/products/fi...-samsung-galaxy-s-i9000-android-smartpho.html
Fits the phone like a glove but strap can be too short if you have big arms.

IF you get an iphone one, just make sure the material can stretch a bit. (They usually do)

Is the igadgitz too bulky, looks like I would get very sweaty in it?
I have looked everywhere for the miCoach one but that appears impossible to get in Australia without paying more then the armbands total value..

Some accessories (cases, cords,pouches)

Head over to daydeal.com they have some accessories even a TV out cord that says its for the incredible and g2 ( anyone got extra cash to buy it and see if it works? ) I ordered this clear case with a kickstand I'll put a review when i get it. But take a look. Not much of a selection but might as well be prepared
have no plans of making a fat phone fatter. maybe an invisible shield or BSE but no hard case for me.
Hate to say it, but I don't think we'll be seeing much accessories for this phone. Due to it being a Tmobile phone only, I just don't see many making products for it.
Im gonna get something to protect the back cuz it looks like it gets scratched easily

I'll probably just keep my eye on decalgirl.com and wait for them to release some of their awesome quality skins. I've used their product on all my handheld portable devices that they make skins for.

I doubt only being for tmobile will make it have less accessories. I have so many cases and such for my nexus and the nexus was mostly used on tmobile but now they have it across seas. The iPhones an at&t only phone and it has too many accessories. And to ditto what he said there is also the desire z

I understand that the Desire Z will be out as well, and that still means nothing. All those cases you speak of for the Nexus One are cheap cases found on eBay, or made by some cheap China company. I know because I own a Nexus One as well, and it took a while to find a great case for it.
Also, to compare the new G2 to an iPhone is just stupid. iPhone carries the name, and has been around for years. Of course there's a ton of crap for it. Heck the G2 won't even come near to selling a quarter of what the iPhone, nor will it come close to what the Galaxy S has for that matter.
All I'm saying is that we won't see the nicer accessories made by the better companies make product for this phone. We're just gonna get stuck with those cheap ebay crap.

You can't really blame them. In a business perspective making accessories for the iphone is the most profitable since iphone is, in a sense, dumbed down for the masses. Right now I think Apple and Blackberry combined own at least 50% market share. So unless Android can somehow bring their share of the smartphone market up another 10%, I doubt accessory manufacturers will see accessories for Android devices as a primary source of revenue.
Android devices are made for geeks like us who like to customize instead of having things already premade for us. So I'm sure this aspect will appeal to more and more people in the near future. And from what I've seen, HTC has brilliant marketing campaigns. I'm sure in around 3 or 4 more quarters android will have a much better standing in the smartphone market and more accessories will be made. Just my 2 cents.

[Q] Give me your long term review of the Nexus S!

Greetings XDA folks! My Nexus One is being passed to my girlfriend, as she broke her Huawei Ideos, so now I'm looking at the Nexus S. I'm based in Taiwan, so I only will get the Super Clear LCD version. Really would like to hear XDA thoughts on this phone and how it has treated them over the course of their ownership...
- Hardware/software issues?
- How it holds up without a case - scratches/wear/tear?
My main concern is reliability in general. I prefer sticking to the stock Android experience and I'm okay with rooting/3rd party ROMs if they're reliable; so if you guys have other phone suggestions please feel free to plug them in! Much appreciated!

No complaints, have had the phone since the US release. But if you are in Taiwan, would you like to wait for a galaxy S II or maybe the original galaxy s? The original galaxy s is very rich in roms and performs quite well.
The screen for the nexus is NOT gorilla glass, so I have a screen protector on at all times, the back is very easily scratchable. If you are concern about keeping your phone in mint condition, I would suggest that you get a case or a replacement back cover. Only thing about the back covers though is that they have the NFC in it and so it can be limted or hard to find. Or otherwise get the one without NFC and "cripple" your phone.
Have had both the galaxy S and they nexus s, and I switch between both as my daily phone. If you got any questions, just ask me I will try to answer as best as I can. I wish I could get a new phone too but they wife will kill me
Hey suomaf, I would love to have the SGII, but as of now they have not given a release date here in Taiwan and I really don't want to fork more than 600 USD/415 EUR for import. I looked at the Galaxy S too, but hesitant about its GPS - whereas the Nexus S seemed to address that issue from other reviews I've read; or did they address this issue on a particular version that I'm not aware of? Thanks for your input, it's much appreciated!
Software wise I think its great. Also great if you love flashing ROMs.
I agree that the backcover scratches easily. A lot of cases will even scratch it, I found out the hard way.
Putting on a case protects it but adds bulk. Especially if you are used to using the Nexus One naked. I may give the Incipio Feather case a try next.
Also, you'll probably miss the notification LED. You can get BLN, but it isn't quite the same.
Another thing I miss is the desktop and car dock.
All and all, I think it's a pretty solid device. Just the ideal device for me is a hybid of the Nexus One/S

Hey DumbUglyDragon... interesting name... so it sounds like the Nexus S body needs a good amount of protection from visual scuffs. If I remembered correctly, the Nexus S doesn't come with a pouch like the Nexus One, right? I prefer naked phone with pouch, so any pouch options any of you Nexus S owners can suggest (if any)? Thanks!

I used the pouch that came with my old myTouch 3G (HTC Magic) for a while. It was basically a sunglass pouch. Kept it protected from scratches, but a bit cumbersome to have to open the pouch to pull out the phone every time I wanted to use it. But it is nothing like the ballistic nylon pouch the Nexus One came with
I love my Nexus S so much. Got it in late December; it's had to go in for repair once since then- it would go unresponsive if left asleep for more than a couple hours for some reason. Got fixed and returned by Geek Squad in about ten days. Other than that, it's been all good times. I can't tell you much on your second question; I've had an Invisible Shield and Amzer silicone case on it almost from day one. My mom's seems to be holding up pretty well without a case (she's only had hers for a month). As long as you don't drop the thing, it should be alright without one. I wouldn't trust not having a screen protector on it for any real length of time, though; especially if you aren't the super careful type.
I came from a 'dumb' sony erricson phone, to the Nexus S.
At first i was actually scared to take it out with me (being quite expensive and all), but i buoght a flip case for it so that part was sorted lol.
Definately buy some sort of protection for it though, otherwise it will scratch up.
In all honesty when i first got this phone i was not impressed (first smart phone), but now that ive had it for a few months, i find it simply amazing.
I am running the NS Collab ROM which is based off CM7 with the usual tweaks etc
Basically , you won't be dissapointed!
Only problems I've had with Nexus S have been the poor Google Skymap performance ... it jumps around everyone and is essentially unusable with the compass.
Using pure GPS is fine (so navigation and geocaching not affected) but the compass is poor.
Plus side, the phone is fast and smooth. It gets updates straight from Google, so no waiting for the maker to decide to release an update. It can be easily rooted and ROM'd if you want.
I do not use a screen protector or a case, because they make the phone look ugly. I use a Golla bag (http://www.golla.com/#/en/products/search/category/mobile/) that clips onto my belt and the phone has remained in tip-top condition.
Overall, very please with the phone and have no desire to change it for anything else.
I actually love the nexus s and I also have the original galaxy s. I beloved both perform equally well. You were concerned about GPS with the galaxy s, which CAN be remedied by using a custom rom but then you sacrifice the already low battery life even further. The nexus s has been an awesome phone to me. I would still suggest to wait or save for a 4g compatible phone. I'm not sure of coverage in your area but I was disappointed when I realized my nexus s was not 4g capable and its very similiar device the the original galaxy s.
My .02 cents.

Custom ROMs / Kernels actually make your phone last longer in terms of battery life.
4G? Can care less.. but HEY! Look at the Droid Charge and Thunderbolt. It's definitely draining your phone's battery at a 4G speed
3.5G (HSDPA) is enough for me.. I'm not using my phone as primary internet.

Personally. I love the Nexus S, great screen, developer support is starting to increase. The only phone I'd consider as a competitor would be the LG G2x. But even then, I committed myself to only getting Nexus phones.
No worries man. I know it's off topic but what is the status of asus transformer stocks like in taiwan?

You can buy them if you search a bit, there are a few here and there in some smaller retail shops. Online stores, it's more difficult to find. There are a lot of mix bagged feelings for ASUS Transformer for Taiwan folks.

Thanks! 4G isn't really pushed too much here in Taiwan, since we have a bunch of public Wi-Fi networks here - "WiFly" service; very convenient for anybody who comes to Taiwan! For the Galaxy S, I tried diving into see the ROMs available, but I'm going to stick with the stock Nexus experience; all the ROMs I see seems to look only beta and ongoing.

Looking to buy a Xoom. [Q] about build quality.

Hello.
I'm looking to possibly buy a Xoom this week and I've just got a few questions.
I used to have the iPad 1 but sold it a few months ago to buy an Android slate.
Last week I picked up a really cheap Sony Tablet S. Initial impressions were ok but I just hate the plastic feel of it. When you press the centre of the screen you can feel the hollowness inside. I really miss the solidness of my iPad. Can you good people tell me does the Xoom have the same solid feel as the iPad? Is the back of the Xoom made out of metal?
Second question is about the screen. I've read its not IPS but normal TFT. How would you rate the screen in the tablet?
Third question is about ICS. Has it been released for the United Kingdom yet? That is another issue I have with the Tablet S - ICS has been pushed back to the end of May
I have just ordered the Xoom into my local Argos store. It should be available to pick up this Friday. I'm 50/50 at the moment whether to splash the cash or not.
I really like the Galaxy Tab 10.1 but after trying the Tablet S I'm worried it may feel too plasticky as well. I'm looking for solidness like my iPad 1
Cheers.
the xoom feels solid i have the silver wifi 3g version and is aluminum in the back, it feels slightly heavy but its fantastic, reminds me of an ipad

It's a very well-built device, if that's what you mean. I've had mine since Day One in Feb 2011, and I use it daily, it commutes with me every week from Southern to Northern Cali, and I've even brought it along to 3 countries.
What exactly is "solidness" anyway?
Cool thanks.

Listen mate. I used lots of tablets. Ipad, galaxy, toshiba and xoom. Without second thought I would say xoom is the best amongst them all for a very simple reason. It is easy to root and then you get the best ics customized rom ever from eos nightlies builds. I can direct you how should you need to. So go ahead with the xoom

No problem, then. But the question still remains- what does "solidness" mean (to you, that is)? IOW, do you just care that it doesn't fall apart if you look at it too hard, or if you expect it'll fall every now and then (mine has- never glass down on concrete, but it's my understanding we have Gorilla Glass so it's pretty durable), or ...? I only ask 'cause the aluminum back of your previous iDevice seems to be a selling point for you, but I'm sure some (like me) couldn't care less about it (esp. since I've put on an Incipio back cover on mine) as long as it doesn't break during normal usage.
But when you do buy a Xoom, you should consider unlocking it, then using a Custom ROM on it (I'm partial to the "Team EOS" ones, as I work on their kernels). It'll make your tablet better as they tend to use the latest releases from Google, have modified kernels and are far beyond what you'll get from the carrier (if that applies).

Oh I get what you were asking now. I didn't understand at first.
After using the Tablet S I miss the weight and heft of my original iPad. The aluminium backing of the iPad I supposed helped in giving the tablet a solid premium feel to it. The Tablet S (while being well designed) seems too insubstantial and lightweight. Plus the use of plastic over all the body doesn't chime with me. It feels hollow when you press the screen. Some people might love it because its lighter but to me its a turn off. It feels too much like a toy.
I'm looking forward to getting that substantial feel back with the Xoom

From what I have read it looks like its one of the top Android tablets.
I'm getting it from Argos too this Firday. I ordered it last night for store pickup.
Please update this thread and tell me your impressions when you get it
I'm in same boat except I get mine delivered on Weds. I was pondering whether to get the Samsung tab 7.0 Plus which is 234 quid from Expansys (EU version). I'm a bit worried about the screen, there's conflicting reviews on its quality in terms of viewing angles and contrast levels.
Me too. I have read positive and negative opinions about the Xoom screen.
One of the positives for the Tablet S is that the screen is a nice IPS screen.
Not sure how I'm going to cope after being spoilt by the SGS's AMOLED display.
But yeah, it's confusing how some review sites claim it has good contrast ratio and viewing angles but there are others which state complete opposite?!?
I've just been looking at the Xoom 2 but with no ICS and no way to put custom roms on it I think I'll pass. The screen does look nice though
This review says the Xoom screen is amazing
This one says the contrast ratio is sub standard. I know that there will be variation in measurement but 750:1 and 2000:1 is a huge difference. So who's got the real readings?
It's a matter of personal taste.
I don't think you understand, the Contrast ratio should be a fairly stable constant no matter who measures it (obviously different techniques yield different results) but the above two quoted websites are opposite ends of the scale; from being amazing to below average...

Want a Otterbox for the Nexus 4? Show them you want it. Tweet them(or FB or email)

They have said that even though the Nexus 4 is selling out worldwide, they wont make one unless there is consumer demand for it. I have already sent numerous tweets about it asking if they are considering making one soon.
You should shoot them a message asking the same. Even if you dont want one, more case options from major makers cant hurt can it?

Some of the replys on twitter look rather promising.
I did an online chat with them this moring.
I was told "there are no plans at this time" to make one, however "that doesn't mean" we won't. Said marketing needed to be done, etc.
I asked if selling millions vs. hundreds of thousands had anything to do with their decision & the said that it could be a factor.
Guess i'm an Otterbox fan boy. Had every smartphone i've owned since the Blackberry Bold in one.
That is what I am hoping would happen if people start really bugging them for it.
My nexus 4 looks great now, but i always worry about that one **** up moment where it doesnt quite make it into my pocket. If they dont want to make it, then oh well, someone else who does want my money will get it.
all the the big case makers (trident, ballisitc, otterbox...etc) are staying away from the nexus 4 as if it was the plague... it's anyone's guess why won't they make a case for a phone that clearly it has a demand (look how fast it sold out at google and tmo) and clearly would benefit from protection, and If they have made a case for the Optimus G... just round out the corners and make one for the N4... no real rocket science there
Well... I want to be optimistic for once... for once..:good:
I really want Otterbox for my Nexus 4 love Otterbox. I don't have a twitter is there a email address I could spam them at.

i dont do twitter and i dont like otterbox, but ill send an email to bother them just to seemingly trump up demand
updated with facebook and email.
spam awaaaaaaaay :cyclops:
Definitely tweeted them about it, I'm surprised by the amount of tweets about it so far! keep it up guys good work
I would love for them to make a Reflex Series case for the N4 like they did with the iphone 4(s)
Less bulk than the Commuter but just about the same level of protection and easier time to take the cover on/off too!!
Let's campaign this!

I tweeted them, and they asked about some Reddit Petition. Does anyone know about this petition? I'd love to sign it, and think it should be linked here as well.
i was saddened when they didnt make a case for the Nexus S, my girlfriend got the Galaxy nexus, and now she has an otter case for her phone.
I get the Nexus 4.... NOTHING!
just my luck!

Yeah, it's right here: change.org/petitions/otterbox-create-cases-for-the-lg-manufactured-google-nexus-4-2
Sign it if you want the otterbox!
The only one that interests me is the Defender, with its built-in screen protector.
Anybody here who gave this case a try: http://www.ebay.de/itm/390518619002 ?
So far the only one I found that covers the USB port an headphone jack.
Signed.
29 more signatures to what exactly?
don't use this, it will make the n4 TWICE as thick! the otter is too bulky and thick

Case choices are always good. Don't like them? Dont bash them but support them either way. The more accessories we get, the better.
Everybody has their own requirements for cases, some prefer best protection whereas some people want minimal protection etc.

We are evaluating the device and watching the online petitions. However, at this moment we don't plan on protecting the device.

If they ever change their mind, it'll be too late anyway: Most everyone will have settled for other options.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 Case/Accessory Lists

Can't help to experience the impressive features of GN8 and going to transfer from iPad 3,it's on the way and going to arm it with protective cases and other accessory just like once did on iPad mate, seems there is no so many GN8 gadgets posted so far and just share your GN8 practical accessory discoveries here with fun..
I see many silicone back covers on eBay even though the tab itself is unavailable in the market.

Yeah, checked a lot case from ebay, yes the price there is competitive yet have no progress to get a right one after some time, for the case there seems not match Samsung GN8 high-end well and just will makes my mate a cheap one, never do this sorry things or would rather get my GN8 naked...
