[Q] Inspire Successor - HTC Inspire 4G

Just wondering if anyone knows of a reliable HTC rumor site that would have some info on the next HTC phone for AT&T. We AT&T subscribers got the gimpiest HTC phone of any of the carriers (Inspire). I am not switching to Verizon due to $$ no matter how much better their reception is. Thanks.

Will be another huge phone with a 900mAh battery
I don't really get it. It seems like every android handset manufacturer purposefully chooses to leave a certain basic function broken in their phones. HTC: small batteries, Samsung: Bad GPS, Motorola : Oh hey let's copy the iPhone's locked-ness. Why is it so #&&#*@*ing hard to make it right? These companies have been making phones for ages.
Oh, and Apple chooses to lock the iPhone's features and adds some minor thing every year. Its like all of these companies have banded together to just keep hanging that carrot in front of us with their crappy products.
I am just leaning towards selling the IP4 and getting a dumbphone for $10 and use it for calling. Smartphones be damned, was much happier before I picked one.

So you have the Inspire?

Haha! Used to have one of those a while back. Though the flip phones were atleast an improvement over the rotary phone. You could go wireless and still not have to run to a power outlet etc every 5 hours
Though I am aware of the possibilities with these phones, manufacturers need to understand that a dead smartphone is useless. When higher capacity batteries are already present no need to be a scrooge about it

@phonex1
I share your frustration, even though mine is mainly just wit Apple. As far as I know, Apple has been much more naughty in the way they "intentionally" limited or withheld features in order to force customers to upgrade to newer phones. But, with other companies, in my observation, there have been more short-comings than actually intentional strategies.
With that said, I also don't think it is really logical for us to complain this way. I mean, that's how things work. Companies make products, however they see it for their own reasons, and we customers buy them "if we like them."
There's no rule that says companies must make products "for customers and the way customers want." Instead, it is our own responsibility to inform/educate ourselves and make smart choices. This is true for anything, not just phones. If you buy something, that is your choice. Saying they should have made it this way or that way is really not a sound arguement.
Nevertheless, I've done that a lot with Apple LOL. But, I try not to do that because I know it's not a good way to look at it.

Without us, the companies would be dead. We're more important to them than they are to us. We can "live" without smartphones. They can't "live" without our money. As the buyer, you do have a say. It's your money. True, if you don't like what they have to offer, don't buy it. But on the other hand, why not make everyone happy, buyer and seller, and make a phone with all the features not excluding one little thing for no good reason.

How exactly is the Inspire the "gimpiest" HTC phone? It's pretty much the best HTC phone out right now.

Gimpiest in the sense (No pun intended) that it does not have HDMI out, a kickstand, or a FF camera. Those three items are so basic IMO. Phones are supposed to get better. This is a step back from the EVO. Why in the world did HTC even bother? These three things might not be important to a lot of people, but they're borderline deal breakers for me.

The Inspire is just a dumbed down Evo. Sure it has more ram and a faster processor but it lacks a front facing cam, HDMI, and kick-stand. KICK-STAND!!!!!

Those items are not that basic. Those are all fairly premium features. You have to realize that this phone is just a Desire HD that already existed months ago. I don't think it's a step back from the EVO; I would rather have better internal specs than gimmicks.

Well hell, did you let HTC know?
Man, I bet they would have put those novelties on the phone if they had known you wouldn't buy it without them.

Really? All I was saying is I would've liked this features...

Well I'm looking forward to this so called rumored HTC Revolver headed to AT&T...

Well the features that you consider essential aren't there. It sounds like you want an EVO so why don't you get one?

Inspire gimped Evo really?
lets see...
Screen: Inspire
Speed: Inspire
Build Quality: Inspire
UI: Inspire
Camera: Push
Front facing Camera: Evo
As stated HDMI out is a gimmick, DNLA is the real deal
kick stand? thats just funny to mention, tacky and not useful
"Man I wish my xbox 360 had a kickstand!" DOGH!

Be damned with "not a good way to look at it". They are the suppliers and we are their demand and I for one am sick of them relying on the fact that lots of folks don't want to have to change carriers every time they need a new phone. I know there are plenty of folks out there that will do this, but the vast majority won't out of convenience. When you change carrier, you usually end up getting shortchanged in one area to gain in yet another and this is not an acceptable trade-off in my opinion. I prefer AT&T because their coverage in my area is excellent and I have no intention of switching carriers just so I can get a device with better battery life. And I agree with the OP on the fact that HTC needs to get on the ball with the battery shortfalls. There is no good reason in this day and age for that to be a problem.
Like it was said above, the carrot dangling is totally out of hand and they (carriers) need to supply the demand of their customers. The customers are their bread and butter by gosh!
That's the way I look at it, be it the right way or the wrong way.
By the way goldentequila, I do agree with you inasmuch that we as the customers do have the responsibility to do a little research and make smart choices, but sometimes those choices are all but non-existent and there usually ends up being a trade-off in one regard for a gain in another, even when you don't change carriers.
Just my .02 ..... HTR

Inspire 4G to Galaxy S II

Just Curious, anyone planning on upgrading to the Galaxy S II when it becomes available?
(Also, is a rooted / custom ROM phone also unlocked?)
Nick
IIRC, the Samsung Galaxy S II has an unlocked bootloader, so yes, developers will probably start writing custom ROMs for it.
For me, I'm going to keep this phone until my 2-year contract is up. Even if I had a chance to upgrade to Galaxy S II for free, I wouldn't, because I personally don't like Samsung phones.
I don't understand these questions...This phone just came out what in Feb? Most peeps are in a 2 year contract. I know I am....
I know there are some who buy out of contract but really why ask here and not in the forum for the phone you are in question of?
Most people are going to answer you with a no.
i plan to get the HTC Holiday off-contract but only if it has an unlocked bootloader

Yeah, I'm curious if people will want to switch enough to sell their current phones and buy unlocked. I'm not sure if these things sell well on ebay, but that's what I've done in the past when new iPhones came out.
My Inspire Its New, its in the market over 11 Feb, we don't need to change the phone yet.
Enjoy your Machine
HELL to the NO!
Samsung products are banned from my house.
I'm eligible for a new phone in January, I'll probably stick with HTC.
For "old tech" the Inspire is a kick ass device. Stable as all get out with lots of dev activity. Lots to love about it.
Wow... someone's so pretty rich here. Good for u.
I plan to keep this phone atleast till March next year, when I'll be due for upgrade.

I under clocked to ~700 and it is still so snappy!!!
Yeah, I have to say, I've installed CM7 (stable), and I am SUPER impressed with how fast this thing is now.
I was just curious, I see that you all love this phone very much. Makes me happy with my choice. (My wife shattered her phone, and I picked this one up same day, not my usual month long research)
So, as a former iPhone 4 users, if you could give me one android tip or suggestion, what would it be?

Stay away from task killers that kill tasks at regular intervals. U could use them to kill a stray app though.
I would recommend reading the thread "android memory management" (permanent link in my signature) to learn how android memory management works.

I will preface this by saying while I make really good money( and work damned hard for it) I am not rich.
I have 2 inspires, one off contract and one on, and you can bet your sweet ass I will be getting the gs2. That is provided it lives up the hype and has proper dev support, which I imagine it will. I understand that in the inspire forum your gonna have a hard time finding anyone saying its not the best phone ever for all time, but I am not the typical owner. I dont have a "pride of ownership" complex. While I lOVE this phone, its far from perfect. The battery is a joke, the bluetooth radio is really weak, the cellular radio has a hard time, and the bottom/side covers fit poorly. Not my opinion, just what it is. The only thing that may be a bit subjective is the cellular radio signal. Buttttt I have tested 5 brand new inspires against a captivate, aria, iphone, and a dumbphone and it always has the weakest signal (in db's not F'in bars). I have flashed every radio/ril known to man, and while it will fluctuate a bit from one to another, as an average its mostly the same. I am talking strictly in signal strength (both edge/hspa) no stupid bars or speedtest.net results. I also tested the bluetooth on 3 inspires myself and had a friend test 2 and all did the same thing. It will start to break up bad if you cover the antenna(side cover) with your hand or move away from the source. This again is something I dont experience with my other plethora of phones. I tested it with 2 headsets and 2 different aftermarket headunits(car stereo). As for the battery, well come on do I really have to explain myself there. While I have gotten to get my phone to last most of the day, its still sub par.
Now dont get me wrong I absolutely love this phone, if not why would I buy 2, one off contract. Its fast, beautiful, made of quality materials, has an awesome screen, and best of all has AMAZING dev support. I only explain my issue cause I know Im gonna get flamed. I am just one of those guys that doesn't think that its the best because I own it. When we own stuff we tend to overlook issues and focus on the positives, which is fine provided it doesn't cloud your judgement. I love and have owned mustangs and camaros. I have also owned and loved yamaha's,honda's,kawasaki's,suzuki bikes. I love toys/gadgets of every maker and flavor. Hell I own an svt lightning but still dig the srt-10 and the cheby ss. And yes I have a drawer full of smartphones from htc, palm, samsung, and yes even the rotten apple.

Breakthrough phone

We have what's considered a breakthrough phone we are going to have to give HTC sometime to get it right. If you get frustrated its your own fault. I haven't had any problems with my device. Anybody else feel the same way.

i agree, the phone is phenomenal, but the major concern is all the bloatware hogging ram, and the NON STOP data because of them...
not to mention, most HTC users here are used to 100% accesable hardware/software, mostly thx to teh devs tho, and NOT HTC.
they made a promise they couldnt keep, and YET AGAIN, the devs beat em to it
#teamwin should rename to HTC, LTD.

I'm with you on that I love the device people are looking for the smallest problems though and complaining. I understand saying something about rooting or bloatware but if your swipe don't work download a different keyboard or don't use it.

on top of that, for all concerned users, if you dont like sense, WTF would you buy HTC's flagship fone with the first iteration of 3.0 on a fone?!?
if you want cyanogen right away, get an incredible S, or be patient.

i been saying this for the longest
not really (but no flame intended)
no, i don't agree at all. HOWEVER, i understand from your OP premise that you have had no problems. Congrats. Therefore, i would expect a zen-like experience from you thus far. Those with real, persistent issues - that came shipped with the phone - are in no way at fault.
Some people are paying, out of pocket, retail, the price of a tab or pad. The have the right to "expect" a certain amount of quality. That is only reasonable.
With regards to the HTC "breakthrough" claim. Ummm, no. Spec wise, outside of the 8 mp camera (which the original Evo had LAST YEAR and 1080 recording, The evo 3d is - on paper - the true breakthrough phone than the sensation. Battery, internal memory and RAM. So, instead of pushing a phone to meet a deadline, craftsmanship and a reliable product at the time of sale would be nice for what is being claimed to be a "flagship" phone.
With that said, people are going to have to suck it up with regards to the bootloader and really opening up the phone. On this we do agree. Its been known for a while the Sensation was locked and if you still bought it its on you (and me cuz i have one).
I am all for supporting htc cuz i am brand loyal, but some things are not going to be accepted just because i am a fan. HTC's profits are massive. they even tout as much. this should, on some level, translate into all high-end phones across all carriers. Some things simply fall at their feet not the paying customer. And again, i have a Sensation and don't have any of the problems people are talking about. My .02

no your wrong , this was the first phone where sense 3.0 was implemented ,so there fore thats the breakthrough ,evo is a breakthrough with the 3d camera ,which imo is gimmiky ,evo quite simply got an updated version of the rom that is on the sensation, its HTC'S fault for not responding fast enough with an update to fix the issues on the sensation

though gimmicky the EVO 3D - FIRST/close to first 3d phone of its kind - is a "breakthrough". the new Mytouch coming out, which T-mo is hailing as THE most advanced camera on a smart phone is a "breakthrough". The sensation is NOT the first multimedia phone -_-. It doesn't have THE best speakers, THE best surround sound, THE best screen, THE most on board storage capacity for all the media you house. Furthermore, Sense 3.0 is NOT a breakthrough. it is an "improvement" over the previous version. If the Evo 3D came out two days before the Sensation would it have beat the Sensation to the "breakthrough" mark? No. They both run it. But, this is where i bow out. I make no money off of fighting for or against htc. I humbly agree to disagree my friend.

you also gotta keep in mind that these phones most of the time hit overseas first, so essentially the sensation was out before we got our hands on it , it seems to me an update to the software between now and then is over due , remember the commercials ,the sensations camera was supposed to be the first to have point and click ,so does that mean the camera on the my touch is just an updated version of the sensations camera ....who knows ,but i am with you we could go on all day with this , all im saying is we should have done had an update and IMO thats poor customer service coming from HTC

Though it is not my intent to go in on htc, you are right. However, from the updates the evo 3d has already received and the specs, it is becoming clear (to me at least) that the sheer volume of customers Sprint has dictates that htc pays more attention to them and their happiness. By design or on consistent coincidences, there has appeared to be a difference in the phones and the updates they get over t-mo. This is not related to the topic, i know, but since you brought it up...

I made a post saying the same thing and got flamed..ha.
It's only the amount of devices affected and customers out of that amount affected that gets HTC to respond and quite simply "Sprint don't play that sh*t" in a nutshell. To be non-technical.
T-Mobile is on self-destruct right about now I might have to say. Sad part is its NOT intentional. I do however feel it's unfair to ignore others who are having issues.
My personal example of issues:
Device 1: Returned due to dead pixels like freckles.
Device 2: Returned Random signal drop not tower related
I'm now on device 3 and i have had it for 4 days...The power/wake button has "con-caved" on one side and today my touch screen stopped responding and i can barely unlock the screen now. I can barerly swipe left and right...I have NO apps downloaded other than Tweetdeck and XDA so IDK what could be causing it.
So I agree about the "senseless" (for lack of a better word) babbling about dumb stuff in here but some of us do have issues.
It was not long ago at all that HTC said they would be changing their policy on bootloaders. People get WAY to uptight when it doesn't happen right away. HTC never said when it would happen. Ya gotta give corporations time....end of story. If their NEW phones don't have unlocked loaders in say 6 months, then people have the right to ***** and call foul.
HTC has done NOTHING wrong. Period.

...even thought they went out of their way to say that the evo3D was going to be S-OFF :/
also, htc did nothing wrong by locking the bootloader, but where they DID go wrong is how they expressed their dedication to their customers and will unlock, then completely disappeared...
not to mention they have pushed many updates to the evo3D, and one for sensation, yet no S-OFF, AND they have a new phone coming out again! the pint size sensation, it has 50% specs of S4G...
...quietly disappointing

no, i don't agree at all.
My .02

COME ON! WAKE UP!

no your wrong , this was the first phone where sense 3.0 was implemented ,so there fore thats the breakthrough ,evo is a breakthrough with the 3d camera ,which imo is gimmiky ,evo quite simply got an updated version of the rom that is on the sensation, its HTC'S fault for not responding fast enough with an update to fix the issues on the sensation

Sense 3.0 was on the Desire HD before sensation released!
Plus its much faster on Desire HD then on the Sensation [email protected]

though gimmicky the EVO 3D - FIRST/close to first 3d phone of its kind - is a "breakthrough". the new Mytouch coming out, which T-mo is hailing as THE most advanced camera on a smart phone is a "breakthrough".

Evo3D is the TRUE BREAKTHROUGH!
I Cannot understand how Sensation Owners think the Sensation stands a chance against the Evo

Atrix 2 = Ugly Sensation knock off

I was reading Engadget today and came across pics of the Atrix 2, Motorola's successor to "the world's most powerful [for a couple of weeks] smartphone".
Guess what? It's sporting a display with the same curved glass edge as the Pyramid/Sensation, with a similar 4.3 aspect ratio and QHD resolution.
Check out the pics: http://goo.gl/Dmdgt
And on Engadget: http://goo.gl/QkPya
Now I kinda know how iPhone fans felt when the Galaxy S came out looking exactly the same as the 3G and 3GS. It's kinda annoying when somebody rips off your favourite design...
Still the best looking handset Moto have produced!! Even if it does look a LOT like the Sensation
yep. and has a good looking dock too. i'd say motorola phones are much more stable than htc but yeah, i have the sensation too and loving every part of it

interesting! I guess everyone has completely diff opinions. I had the atrix.. after about a week - instantly sold that off and bought a sensation! I love the sensation 100000x more. Atrix/motorola was just stupid. Motoblur was absolutely terrible. 16gb internal was awesome! However I couldn't use it to how I liked it because it treated the internal as an external sd card -_-.. Some people like it but heck I couldn't stand it. The best thing was the rotation animation!
I like the back.

Come come fellow HTCers, let's not become legaltards like Apple, so they made a phone that has similarities to the Sensation, so what? when people read the reviews they will see the truth, the Sensation is the greater. And thus, did the Atrix 2 fall into disrepute, so shall it be, amen.

Exactly... And it's not like HTC hasn't ehm, borrowed from others in regards to design. Everybody gets inspired by everybody else, that's how the industry works.

Then I'm afraid you won't like future handsets from HTC. That way of treating the memory is called MTP, as far as I recall. And it's the future. All handsets manufacturers have plans to use it. Some people say it's better than what HTC uses now. I personally don't like it myself a whole lot either...
I'm not being a "legaltard" - I didn't say HTC should sue Motorola, just that the design is so obviously derivative it's laughable. There are only a few ways to seperate a rectangular piece of metal (or, in their case, plastic), but it's kinda funny when their solution is to fairly blatantly rip a phone that's only been on the market a couple of months.
I don't think there's any competition between the two, btw. I just thought it was weird how similar the designs were.

more like an OEM product from a single manufacturer
OK I can KINDA see the similarity, but I really don't think they're THAT much alike. The Atrix 2 also kinda looks like the Nexus S, if you ask me.
Most of the HTC-specific design cues are on the back of their phones anyways, though I haven't seen a picture of the Atrix2's rear.
There are only so many ways you can differentiate a 4-4.5 inch touchscreen slab with no physical buttons. As long as they don't go out of their way to look different from each other, I'm not going to complain. Cause that's when you end up with the really stupid ideas. Like the rumoured three button Samsung redesign...

Hello MT4G! (for once) [rant]

Hi all,
I'm seeing quite a few "farewell MyTouch 4G" topics lately, so here goes my contribution.
Two weeks ago I abandoned my Sensation 4G and bought a MyTouch 4G. I could not be happier. Think I'm crazy? Well, I think people who do the opposite are crazy, and let me explain why.
<A rant>
Sensation annoyed me for several reasons. Mainly – it was huge. "I love my phones like I love my women: smaller than me". I hate stretching my thumb trying to reach out for the notification bar, I hate having a brick in my pocket, I don't watch movies on my phone – I don't need a screen larger than 4". And honestly, I don't think anybody in their senses does. IT'S A PHONE! I hate Samsung and HTC for setting this stupid trend, a "screen race", and I respect Apple for sticking to logic and convenience despite this trend.
I was also annoyed by the battery. Yes, smartphones nowadays hardly survive a day of adequate usage, but at least let me have this day! I don't need those 2 cores in my CPU, I don't play 3D shooters. IT'S A PHONE, goddamit – not a PSP!
And the Sensation's design, it annoyed me as well. The phone wouldn't even lie straight on a table –*it was rolling. A flat back for me, please. Yes, this is personal. And those touch buttons, and a power button god knows where? Screw you!
So yeah, I bought a MT4G instead.
<A praise>
MyTouch 4G, on the other hand, is a great Android phone, one of the last such species. The size is just right. The design is great. It has physical buttons and a trackpad – thank god, I can move a letter or two back easily, or scroll through search suggestions and edit them, just like I could on G1! Whose bright idea was to remove that? And MT4G is just as quick to me as any other modern phone: I don't see any difference, and those benchmarks prove nothing to me. What I do see a difference in though is battery life: simply put, I don't have to CARE about it anymore, it's not sitting in the back of my head – "oh, I gotta switch it to the plane mode", "oh, I gotta grab a charger with me". Such a liberation.
Sensations, Rezounds, Galaxies, Nexuses (Nexii?), RAZRz – all begone until you learn once again, what a phone (A PHONE!) should be. You call THAT "a downgrade"? I'm in for more of those then. MT4G is a great phone. And you – hold on to it, you might not see another one in a while.

+1 on the trackpad... lol who's idea WAS that???
Totally agree with you. The Mytouch 4g is my first smartphone so I never had anything to compare it to, and I've looked at a few of these new "power" phones and the more I see them the more I realize there aren't many phones that I would be happy with coming from the mytouch. It really is a great phone. And all the development that is being done on it only makes it better. I really couldn't ask for a better phone.
although i have an amaze now and i agree, the mt4g is a beastly single core phone. I loved it's design. But are you serious about reaching for the notification bar? Lol it's less then half an inch bigger vertically than the mt4g unless you have small hands then yes that may be problems for some lol.
However, it's not the screen that's annoying but the overall design of the phone.. Such as the spaces above and below the screen is so God dam wide and useless. It's like half an inch on top and full inch on the bottom.
Btw the dual core actually saves battery life because it uses less energy.
And agreed the speed is not a huge difference especially to those who don't do much with their phones. But i noticed many small things that i like especially the camera.

As I said this almost a year ago in this very forum. That MT4G (GSM-US) and TB (CDMA-US) will be last of its kind (SC-2GS) by HTC following DhD (GSM-EU). I got this phone after I lost my HD2-US (Leo1024) while out for a night with GF.
Even when I knew and know the dual core is pushed by the vendors I sticked to MT4G as it was still not out in market when DZ (G2-US) came out in TMoUS. Most of the people here are new and have no clue as they most likely got it free with contract (goodbye no contract plans).
I personally don't give a F about dual or quad core on our phone. As most people don't even understand hardware much less the SoC they own. I had this over a year and ill keep it until the death of TMoUS. When THE Death Star (AT&T) gobble up and make GSM monopoly to at&Tmobile.

Wait… no they didn't. They just questioned it in terms of monopolization and jobs, and now everything is stuck until someone proves and/or pays something to someone. And knowing the power of corporations nowadays, and that this merger is a mutual interest from AT&T and T-Mobile, I'm pretty sure that it will eventually happen one way or another.
A different story is whether it's that bad. Yes, less competition, possibly higher rates, but consider this: our UMTS (and possibly LTE) network will finally become compatible with the rest of the world. Think of how many global phones we'll be able to order from overseas! Isn't it a token in favor of this merger?

For someone who only has 2 posts, you speak as though you've been here for years. It was just confusing the way you stated things, but yes i do understand that the chips and hardware are made earlier before it is ever picked up. mt4g was released barely a year ago unless you got like an imported version. I got mine in february when development picked up and when they started offering the phone for free. So i bought it off CL for cheap.
I'm not denying the fact that the mt4g is a great phone. I was just confused about what you meant by vendors pushing dual core phones when the g2 was released. When the atrix wasn't released until i think december or january. But you made it clear you meant the manufacturers, so understandable.
lol are you serious about the last question? it's like why are people using dual core computers, you guys should just use some p4's it'll still get the job done.

Are you serious? This is coming from a kid who I haven't seen in this forum before? Did you honestly compare my post count with and judge me as new user based on that? LOL someone explain it to this child who I am before I import my avatar.
Now MT4G came out in since 2010Q4 which is you got 3months after it was in TMoUS but I got it 3months before it came out in TMoUS, which as a regular user you do not have the connection nor the SIC to get any device from any manufacture until its picked up by the carrier. But we normally have access and get it close to 3-6months before its released.
Now ill let your third paragraph go as my 2nd one explains it why we have access to it which you would NOT know. Lets put it this way if its on XDA its old and we don't want it mostly when the manufacture already have the device and they pitching to the carrier thats when we hear about it. After that the carriers dictates and changes it and orders it based on their needs before its picked up.
Far as your last foolish question goes I been using 128bit ASF since you were using AMD 750MHZ Duron (Socket A). I am SNS Unix admin and yes a P4 does do the job I built a custom router that runs on P4 @ 3GHz with 2GB DDR2 PC3200 with 120GB HDD which acts as my oSF switch that runs on *nix.
PS: My point is don't FOLLOW the trend, but lead it. You just want a dual core why? Cuz its newest? cuz some retard who has no idea on Youtube took joker quadrant and showed you its faster? ATM I am using AOSP2.3.7GB running at SAv2 368mhz-1027mhz VDD750 with total mod to MT4G thats beyond scope of XDA. So don't tell me that you have any POS apps that needs dual core when at 768mhz+ phone has no lag. Must be that POS Sense crap that loads huge 300mb+ framework to ram. Hence why AOSP rom = 80mb? while Sense = 300mb+?

I agree 100% about the Sensation screen bring just too big. It bugged me to no end. You can't reach the top left corner without repositioning the phone in your hand and stretching as far as possible. I had to use two hands most of the time. Annoying.
I disagree on the design comments though. The Sensation is a beauty. I always hated the "mytouch" on my phone.
All being said, this is the third time I come back to the mytouch. I'm sticking to it until it can't turn on anymore.

All being said, this is the third time I come back to the mytouch. I'm sticking to it until it can't turn on anymore.

lol i really hate the "Mytouch" name...
which genius came up with that??
it makes the Glacier sound cheap and a "iPhone copycat" even though it's far from that...

Shhh "THEY" are watching...
I'm new to the MyTouch 4g, I've only had it for 24 hours or so, but I have to say that I like the phone more than I thought I would. I'm primarily a Nexus One/Nexus S user, but the MyTouch compares nicely to the Nexus One. Rooting was easy, and the phone feels much faster than many newer generation phones. Using physical buttons takes some getting use to, but overall I think it's one of the best purchases I've made in a while. Strangely enough I purchased it primarily to use in Europe/Spain, so it'll be interesting to see how it holds up to that task.
whoa whoa whoa hold on there cowboy, i never said you weren't here for a long time. I just had the notion that you were, but I was confused by your post count, hence the, you Speak as if you've been here for a long time, not, You ACT as if you've been here longer than i have blah blah blah (lol). And that you have been. I'm not questioning your credibility or anything oh mighty one (lol) I completely agree with you on every aspect that the mt4g is an awesome phone, trust me on that I still have one that i mess around with thats why I still frequent this section.
I wasn't attacking your posts or anything. Like i said, i was confused on the way you stated things and how YOUR release dates of phones didn't match the official release dates. Thanks for clearing that up btw... any hookups haha jk.
But don't go and assume I follow the trends and go by quadrant scores and stuff; I actually do the exact opposite example. The only reason why I'm using the amaze isn't because of the dual core processor. I actually got it for a really good deal on CL for $350 in mint condition. I jumped on it. But anyways It's just the small stuff I like about the amaze, especially the camera functionality, and the ridiculous 18mbps speed i hit from time to time. other than that, people shouldn't go out and jump and get an amaze right away. I told many not to bother because development is still in the baby stages and you should save your money until the price drops.
And do you know what computer im using right now?? an AMD64 X2 5000+ black edition. you remember those? lol
I don't even remember how we got into this mess, I wasn't vouching for dual cores, I agreed with everyone here LOL. I was just confused about your release dates tis all

Just wanna share some news about HTC

Well seems like there's still hope for HTC, according to CNET. http://news.cnet.com/8301-1035_3-57482049-94/why-its-not-doom-and-gloom-for-htc-yet/
And look at this: "According to a survey taken by Sanford Bernstein, 42 percent of HTC customers select the brand for the quality and intuitiveness of its user experience, vs. 32 percent for Samsung, an indication of positive awareness of HTC's differentiated software."
Sense is a STRONG selling point for HTC. So anyone who's been claiming that HTC will sell more if they get stock may be wrong.
But in the meantime http://www.zdnet.com/htc-bites-the-bullet-closes-south-korean-office-7000001779/
What do you guys think about HTC and their current woes? No need to be defensive. Just want to discuss and want people to voice their opinions in case some HTC employees lurk around and see this lol

"In comparison, Korean vendors including Samsung, LG and Pantech have secured 90 percent of the market."
Why would they stay in a market where the home town teams control 90% of it? They also closed Brazil because the market for high-end phones their is weak. They got $150MM in cash by selling 1/2 their Beats investment back. These are signs of a company trying to re-focus its efforts. It's better to do fewer things well than 100 things marginally; especially when you're small(er). Like CNet said, there's room for a number three and it could easily be HTC if they get their act together.
Ok i just want to say one thing
HTC is no near as small or as weak financially as these stupid stupid tech articles make it sound
you really think they can afford combating with APPLE on a legal level if they were as tiny as everyone would like to believe?
or do you think they can afford so many innovations in the One Series like the ImageSense chip and the best screen on mobile device out there, if they were falling apart?
anyway if indeed google was blown away with the One X and the next Nexus will be an HTC, problems solved

i don't know if you meant positive or negative
the nexus one did indeed give HTC a major turbo boost
if you meant it bad well yes i actually don't understand what google found in samsung's build quality, my guess is cheaper cost or "volume"
we still don't know if the next nexus is HTC, with samsung selling like hotcakes, i don't know but we google approached them regarding the Nexus 7 and they refused to make a low cost tablet
I just wish that rumour about multiple Nexus devices is true. I want a Nexus phone but I dont want to get anything Samsung. -.-
And HTC srlsy needs to pull their sh** together w the QC and customer service. I look through all the threads about issues and I wonder why I still am attached to this company.

QC issues where there because HTC rushed the One X early, now they are mostly gone
HTC's one x launch was pretty much a complete train wreck.
This board and others were/still are littered with many many threads about 'problems'... This forum still is.
I love my OneX as I did my HD2 but from my point of view HTC need to get a grip as their were far too many problems at launch.
Nope I'm not about to jump ship to Samsung but I would certainly not buy another (groundbreaking) HTC phone so soon after launch again.
Plus if this phone doesnt end up with some reasonable way of acheiving root access I'll never buy another HTC device again.

S-Off is coming don't worry
and i agree never buy a flagship on launch
but this is not related to HTC only mate
Barry shipped me an N7 to Lebanon and it was a one way ticket for me, i was holding my breath all this time, because the QC issues of the N7 a Google product, are actually double times the One X launch issues
go check the Nexus 7 boards and while at it go check the sg3 boards, you will forgive HTC a little better
The Xperia S had its share too
QC issues are disturbing and relates to all these devices nowadays, especially screen glue problems, think it has to do with the high volume and increasingly aggressive competition, has nothing to do with brands
i choose htc because unlocking is easy
samsung phones are complicated as f**k
odin , usb jig and shat like that

I just want to say I'm a huge fan of HTC for years (they never let me down before, they have very good service!)
and I do love my HTC One X.:good:
No scratches, wifi problems, camera, battery, headphone problems, screen leak problems, orrrrrr.... 'whatever', my HTC One X rocks!
The small issues with software (multitasking, 3 dots, battery overheating) reported do not bother me at all, they are small and will be fixed with future updates.
Yesssss... I'm probably one of the 'very rare' lucky guys I know but I realy am. :victory:
I'm realy looking forward to Jelly Bean, it will have issues as well I'm sure about that but that's why we have HTC and XDA-Developers.
It will get fixed and updated.

HTC doesnt manufacturer those screens. I think they are just kinda similar to Apple in the sense that they basically just assemble phones from components supplied by other companies. The only things HTC can take pride in are Sense and the design.

It's very likely Google will release multiple Nexus devices because in that case they will be able to let Motorola make Nexus phones w/out looking like they're being biased. But if it's only one version it's very likely that Samsung will get it again since Samsung is a major supplier of many components for smartphone. Imagine the Nexus phones uses the Snapdragon s4 processor and Qualcomm cant meet supply it's gonna be a mess.

Google cares only for numbers. They don't care who will make the device as long as it's cheap and sells. Why did they went for the lower 7" tablet market? Because they can sell more units than 350$ 10" version. And in their case more units = more people for targeted ads. Though I admit I like the idea of having Motorola's Nexus (Motorola is maybe the only OEM that can match HTC in terms of build quality), I have the feeling that Google will get rid of Motorola long before that. The other part of the nexus story is marketing. And no Android OEM can match Samsung in that department. Many people still believe amoleds are superior to lcds. Like Apple made them believe that they invented smartphones, tablets, videocalling, touchscreen phones, etc. A lie that's repeated a thousand times becomes the truth. So at the end of the day if you want to have a cheap mediocre device with good marketing to make people believe it's great, the only OEM you can turn to is Samsung. Galaxy Nexus is the pure example of that. It has mediocre CPU, a pentile screen with messed up colors that looks like s#it, but it sells. Why? Because it's cheap and people believe Samsung can make good phones.

Is this thread sponsored by HTC?
I recently filled in a satisfaction survey and now they've tried to call me twice in two days.
Perhaps it was my mention of their illegal warranty policy?
---------- Post added at 08:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:26 PM ----------
Oh, it could have also been the mention of their CEO's lies regarding opening up their phones.

Take off your tin foil hat and answer the phone. Then you'll KNOW why they are calling you instead of making wild guesses on a thread clearly sponsored by HTC, the government and the Switzerland's navy.
